I came here yesterday with a big group of friends and was not expecting to like my coffee as much as I did. I got the Ultralight Bean, but I had initially asked the barista to make it 50% sweet. She told me to try the coffee with no tweaks because it was already "not as sweet" so I listened. Absolutely AMAZING. It wasn't too sweet, nor was it bitter---it was just right. Found out about this place from family and friends and was so excited to try! Located on melrose and there's a small parking lot/alley right next to them. There's some paid parking spots in front or you can park in the neighborhood (be sure to read the signs) We got the cold brew and ultralight bean and both were so good! It was a hard decision between the ultralight bean and vivid cream latte but will def have to try the vivid cream next time! Service was great! The employees were super kind and welcoming! Not sure about how many outlets there are but seems like a quiet place to get work done! There were a few people working when I stopped by. It was love at first SIP ... lol I have only had their Ultralight beam coffee and I can confidently say anyone who tries it will love it. Be Bright is the BEST. Espresso is always smooth and the ingredients are high quality. I love how unique their seasonal lattes are too; I'm surprised with a new recipe almost every time I go. I love their location at Smorgasburg since it's closer to me (worth the wait even if the line is long), but will drive to the Melrose location on non-Sundays when I'm craving it. Love supporting AAPI owned too (the couple who owns Be Bright is so nice). Def recommend! read more

Tried their coffee at Smorgasburg and have been so excited for this location to open up! We stopped by the other day for some coffee and stumbled upon their seasonal drink the black sesame crunch latte which uses black sesame crunchy butter (also available for purchase). If you stop by here, this is a must try especially if you are a black sesame fan. It is super flavorful yet not overly sweet and is not super gritty. Another favorite (also available at Smorgasburg) is the vivid cream latte. It has brown sugar in it but you can mix as much into your latte as you want so it can be less sweet. We had the perfect opportunity to check out Be Bright Coffee for our weekly coffee adventure, because we happen to be in the area . Since it wasn't busy, we were able to speak to the barista in providing some recommendations. The barista was nice and recommended we try their popular drink, the Vivid Cream Latte. The drink consists of a brown sugar latte and sweet foam with cocoa powder on top (note: I ordered mine with oat milk.) I enjoyed the coffee quality so much that I ended up buying a bag of their roast, and an extra latte to take on the go. The barista was kind enough to throw in a coffee scooper and a clip for the blend. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely come back. read more

Stopped in for a quick coffee while spending the afternoon thrifting with friends in the area. This spot is adorable and inviting. Inside there were several tables for sitting and huge windows which filled the room with sunlight. Staff were very friendly and kind -- seeming to take great care in every order they filled for customers. I ordered and iced dirty chai. It was perfect! Strong espresso flavor with just the right amount of sweetness and spice. There was a small retail section with bagged coffee and hand made mugs and coffee-esque items for sale. I first tried be bright coffee at smorgasbord where they informed me they're opening a brick and mortar shop. Luckily it was only 10 min from me. The shop is super cute and the service was great! There street parking by the front so it wasn't too difficult to park. I've had their vivid cream coffee which is my absolute favorite but I wanted something less sweet so I went with their iced coffee and their hazelnut croissant which was probably the best chocolate croissant I've ever had. Personally thought all the beverages here with average. Ordered 2 seasonal drinks and their specialty cream top drink with brown sugar. The Cream Top drink with brown sugar was definitely our least favorite. I like sweet things but this was just toooo sweet to even be coffee anymore. The Black Sesame drink is made with Black Sesame Butter which has peanut (FYI for all my peanut allergic girlies). I'm lucky that I only got a slight reaction but tbh I should've looked up what that ingredient was, so that was on me. But overall, that one was my favorite drink ironically. The Pumpkin Cold Brew tasted watered down IMO. Thought the cold brew or the pumpkin flavor would stand out a bit more. read more

Came in here to get some iced lattes on the way back to where we parked and we were THOROUGHLY impressed by the kindness and welcoming nature of the workers. To start off, when we walked in we noticed there was a little mini child play pen area so ofc we just go inside, we were taking pictures and laughing and thinking back, maybe we should be a bit more quiet but everyone inside was very nice and didn't give any strange looks or anything. We ordered 2 crème brûlée lattes , unaware that it comes hot. Once we noticed them pouring it we told them we wanted iced but they said it only comes hot (because they have to torch the sugar on top) but they still remade our drinks which they didn't have to do and was very nice of them to do so. I accepted to take the hot one but they still remade it iced how we wanted . And yes, it probably does taste better hot which now I know and will get!! But nonetheless they let us take some stickers and I was surprised that they gladly made it for us. In my experience there are a lot of "pretentious" coffee spots that get snarky in situations like these. I was settling for how it was originally made but they went above and beyond by being very generous with us! 10/10 for this spot will definitely be coming when I am in melrose. read more

Online customer service is so bad that it doesn't exist. After my order being over a week late with no status update I reached out to check on it. After no response, I then reached out 3 other times across 3 different platforms over the next 2 weeks (contact us, business email, instagram x2), and have yet to get a response from anyone, it's now been almost a month. After all this the coffee they shipped me isn't even the coffee I ordered because they ran out of what I ordered, I'm assuming because they shipped it a week late... but I don't know, because they won't respond. When I walked in at 4:15pm, the kindest barista gently let me know that they were closed and the machines were shut down but whether there was anything he could do. I was just looking for beans, and he was more than kind enough to help me choose a bag to take home to brew for myself. Thoughtful, authentically nice people are so wonderful to encounter, and I appreciated the helpfulness he expressed in our short interaction. Really love this store so I'll be coming back frequently. Such a cute spot with plenty of seats to study. There are even outlets and wifi available making this the perfect spot to get some work done or study. They have a wide variety of coffee and even teas. They have matcha. I got the iced coffee with the Ube cream and I already am excited to go back and get it again. Stumptown what? Blue Bottle who? Intelligentsia hmm? The truly intelligent decision is to immediately head over to Melrose, because Be Bright is where it's at. First off, the fact that they have a brick and mortar is so dope. I've been ordering their beans since they first launched, and they've always been the pinnacle in terms of quality and freshness of beans, aromas, and flavors. When I heard they were opening a physical cafe I was excited. Then I was a little sad that it was a little far from me, but definitely still worth the occasional drive. I mean, we live in LA, you're gonna drive places, quit your whining. Everything here is awesome. Seriously, there's something for everyone. From delicious pourovers to vibrant cold brew to even life-changing mixed beverages like the vivid cream latte and the ultralight bean--everyone from coffee connoisseurs to recent Starbucks converts will find Be Bright simply delightful. They even have tea for the tea peeps. Their pastry game is also fire. We weren't even hungry but couldn't pass up the chance to try their kimchi spam croissant. Ngl on bad days I still sometimes think about that croissant. And when I said there's something for everyone, I meant it--there's also a cute little play area for kids with a little kitchen and toys, as well as shelves housing some really cool wares and merch. I picked up a momofuku black truffle chili crisp topping, a mug, a be bright candle, and even some magnet play tile toys for my kids. This is hands down one of the best cafes in LA right now, and if you don't like it here, then...who hurt you? Ok this review is too long but the service is great too. Upon my first visit to Be Bright, it was a pleasant experience. Was early on a Sunday morning so parking was easy, barista was friendly and courteous. I had two drinks to have a pretty good idea about the quality of their offerings. I thought the Vivid Cream latte was overly sweet, even when I asked for a reduced amount of brown sugar syrup. Not a drink I'd order again but that's a personal taste, once in a while a sweet coffee drink hits nicely. The Ethiopian pour over was delicious, a slightly more acidic than I'm used to but I still very much enjoyed it. I appreciate that I got an email with a discount for my next visit. Will definitely take advantage of that and try a couple more of their drinks. Prices are comparable with other shops in the area but in that Melrose area, it's the best I've had. Way better than that other place with a mythical creature on its name and logo. I mean way better. Really nice location, was very clean and plenty of seating. Will definitely be back. read more

I was a bit worried this would be on the pricier end, but compared to places like Verve which is $8 for an iced vanilla oat latte, this was slightly cheaper $6. Once they opened up at Smorgasburg, we knew we had to try their crafted drinks because we knew we would not be able to make the Vivid Cream Latte or Ultralight Bean at home... I'm so happy that they have a regular physical store now. They roast their coffee WEEKLY, so you know that the coffee you're getting at the store is FRESH. I also had a spam kimchi croissant that was fantastic. The staff is friendly and one barista offered to modify the cold brew to meet my preference for more cold brew, less lemonade.
