Had dinner here last night - Christmas Eve. Ordered the steak frites. I ordered medium/well. Still ended up rare. Absolutely NO FLAVOR whatsoever! Worcestershire sauce did not help. Even the fries didn't taste great. The appetizers were nothing to write home about. Either hire a new chef or get better recipes. Definitely would not recommend. read more

My girlfriend and I were in Boston on Saturday morning and decided to come here for brunch because it was close to the hotel we were staying at. We were pretty much ignored for about 10 minutes once we sat and even after getting coffee the waiter didn't circle back to take our orders. My girlfriend got the breakfast burrito, which ended up having a piece of plastic in it. We told the waiter who had the kitchen prepare another one and it was also taken off of the check. Overall, it just wasn't a good experience. I felt like the service was subpar for how vacant it was and obviously the plastic in the food didn't help. read more

I'm sad to give the bar at BHH&B 2 stars. It's getting 2 instead of 1 because of old times sake. We're locals and have always had great experiences at the restaurant and the bar...until last night. We dropped by the very uncrowded bar (on a Sat night) to have a drink on the way home. The bartender ignored us. The bar itself had water splashed on it so we couldn't put anything on the counter without soaking it. The bartender said, "I'll get to it" when I asked for a towel to wipe it. (He was talking to 2 attractive women.) When he finally came, I asked if they served Irish coffee. He replied, "The espresso machine is down." Hmm...what does that have to do with Irish coffee? He walked away and never came back. We finally left and went to another, much better bar. Sad for BHH&B. read more

A pretty nice restaurant, under a boutique hotel. The Duck liver was wonderful, not as good as foie gras, but had the special arrangement. The soup/sauce for Mussels was light, which I do like. Shrimp for the main course was fresh. The only problem was the AC. I was there during the summer, and their AC didn't work. It RUINED the experience. I rated based on food and service. read more

Something is missing here. Taking a gander at the Beacon Hill Hotel & Bistro sign (BHHB), something is amiss. They've left off a letter, I tell you! Clearly, this is hotel (H) on Beacon Hill (BH) with a bistro (B), but they've neglected to include a crucial element of their establishment in the main title and thus, the abbreviation that acts as their logo. "B" is for BAR! How they could choose not to give top billing to the best part of their establishment baffles me. Ok, actually, I don't know if it's the best part, as I've never stayed in the (h)otel and have yet to eat in the (b)istro, but I have had drinks at the (b)ar, and will stand by behind the statement that this tiny little cocktail counter is one of the better bars on (B)eacon (H)ill. Their cocktail list is pretty underrated, featuring a festive holiday drink made with fresh cranberries, a cocktail with chartreuse as the base and an Earl Grey Martini that tastes like strongly steeped tea balanced perfectly with gin and lemon. Joseph, the barkeep for the evening, was entertaining, friendly and mixed a delicious drink. Well, he mixed a few delicious drinks and before you know it, we were the only people left at the BHHB Bar! With an atmosphere that is cozy and warm, complete with a fireplace and enhanced by friendly and familiar service, the BHHB Bar has a low-key neighborhood feel. Though don't expect low-key prices. Well, Good Evening. It was a good evening. Stepping into the Beacon Hill Bistro is a nice, welcoming, and unpretentious feeling. Which, is a rarity in "these" parts. And as a former Beacon Hill resident and lover of all things Beacon Hill, I think I am qualified to say that. The fiance who goes by Bill and I decided to treat ourselves to dinner at the Bistro on a Monday night. The reason why we dined at the Bistro was to support Verrill Farm in Concord. Verrill Farm suffered a massive fire in September and the Bistro decided to put on this benefit where 100% of the proceeds would go to Verrill Farm. To begin, we were promptly greeted by our server-extraordinaire, Avery. She sweetly came over to the table with water and delicious bread and butter. I was partial to the bread that had cranberries and/or raisins in it. Tasted like the kinds of breads my Nana would bake. We told her that we were here for the Verrill Farm dinner and I chose the "field" menu and Bill chose the "pasture". Our dining palates tend to never agree anyway, but that was fine with me. We both started off with a delicious Roasted Buttercup Squash Soup, with the most exquisite Brioche Crouton, I mean, croutons are croutons, but a brioche crouton is so delicious that I needed to capitalize Brioche and Crouton. It tasted like a true New England autumnal soup. Velvety smooth and aromatic. Magnificent. Then we were onto the "Pudding". This was no pudding that I was used to, it was and I can't quite figure out what was in it. But, think of a tart made with pureed cauliflower and some other type of earthy green. Maybe peas/broccoli/spinach? I don't know, but it was very tasty. Next, on the menu was my Dancer Eggplant Gratiné, with I am guessing, sun ripened tomato and fresh mozzarella, and a light tomato sauce which was almost orange in color. With a hint of black licorice? I swear I could taste it, and it was good. It smelled unbelievably wonderful, too. This is when Bill got his "pasture". He devoured a suckling pig. And when I say "devour" I mean, the dishwasher would not have to clean the plate after, if you know what I mean. He said it was amazing. Okay, this is when I get really excited. If you are wondering why, it is now time for the CHEESE. Sweet baby! I love cheese. This cheese was like a slice of heaven. It was an Aged Cows' Milk Cheese served with Beach Plum jelly and a slice of brown bread. I savored every square inch of that cheese, but I left the rind behind. I'm not an animal. Time for dessert, and let me tell you -- I was saving room. It was a baked apple. Not sure what kind, but it was a good size apple. Maybe a Cortland? I think it was. It was served warm and you could just ease your fork into the apple. No need to strain your delicate wrists. I got my meal sans wine, Bill got his with the wine pairings and according to him, they were all perfect. Thank again to Avery, Beacon Hill Bistro, Jason Bond the Chef du Cuisine and of course, my lord and savior, YELP. For if it was not for Yelp, I would never have heard of this lovely event and best of all, it was for a great cause. I hope Verrill Farm gets rebuilt bigger and stronger. I have been lurking around the Bistro for a few months now, as my general boycott of 75 Chestnut requires me to actually branch out and walk more than half a block from my apartment. The Bistro is WELL worth the effort, more so, I would even walk to it in the RAIN! Warm fireplace, small, cozy, inviting bar with fishbowl view out onto Charles St, and a casual yet table-clothed dining room stretched out along picture windows, the Bistro is a MUCH appreciated and needed addition to Beacon Hill, ( RIP Rebecca's) Why am I such a fan......? First off, Francie, the short cropped blond bartender BOMBSHELL, is the best mixologist to grace the Hill since Frank waxed about the evil empire behind the bar at 75 Chestnut. Her martini's are served "bird bath" style, ie, you need to sip them before even ATTEMPTING to pick them up, or you will be wearing them. Francie rocks! Second, the slow roasted pork shoulder with raisin sauce, in a word, yummers, like a huge chunk of melt in the mouth bacon, the saltiness checked by the sweet sauce. Winner! Third, the place is a HIDDEN GEM for weekend brunch. On any given Sat/Sun, the line of locals and tourists forming outside the Paramount is EMBARRASSING considering the mediocrity of their fare. Brunch @ BHHB ?? -No Wait -Full Bar -Francie :-) -Vanilla Pancakes ( $10) -Eggs Bene ($10) -French Toast w/ cider braised apples ($10, would have paid double, taste bud ORGASM!!!!! I could go on..... So, in a nutshell, leave the bridge and tunnel crowd at the Paramount and cross the street, saddle up to the bar early on a Sunday and watch the assorted 'walks of shame' skulking home out the window on Charles St. as you dig into some of the finest brunch offerings on the Hill. read more

I've been here a few times, but this is my first visit since the head chef (Jason Bond, I think) left. Service is noticeably worse off. I made a reservation for three for brunch at noon on a Sunday, a full week and a half before said date. We arrived at 12:05, but were told that they gave away our table and that we would have to wait. When we asked why, they said that their policy is to give away tables for people half an hour late for their reservations. Understandable, but I just stated that my reservation was for noon. Unless you live in a parallel universe where time works by skipping across the clock face, you screwed up. After further inspection, we were told that someone had moved our reservation to 11:30. Without notifying us. Fantastic! That makes total sense in your other plane of existence. But for us living in the here and now, it doesn't. Anyway, we got an apology and we moved to "next in line". We still had to wait another 15 minutes, but fine. The food was good, but the server was absent and probably too busy to provide one smile. read more

Screw the Paramount and its long lines, run, don't walk, across the street to BHHB for your breakfast. Hands down the BEST French toast I've had in my Entire life! They were fluffy, moist, and slightly crispy, tasted almost like a fresh yummy donut (in a good way). Also, they were covered in delicious tender Carmelized apples. My partner had the bananas covered vanilla pancakes which were also very good but definitely weren't as great as the French toast. The decor is classy and the butter is whipped, definitely a place to bring the parents. Ill be dreaming to come back again.. read more

Basically this is a really solid place for brunch that takes reservations, doesn't have ridiculous lines, has great food in hearty quantities and reasonable prices (mostly $8-10). What more could you ask for in a brunch? I had brunch there today (second time there) and was impressed by the quality of the food, the ambiance and service. The first time I went I got the french toast (a ridiculous quantity of french toast, but delicious!) and this time I tried the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. I got a huge dish of eggs (plenty even for a guy - I had to take home leftovers) though not that much smoked salmon; the dish also came with potatoes and two perfectly toasted pieces of french bread. The service was great considering they were pretty busy - the waitress came by to get our orders promptly and was helpful in getting us the condiments we requested. I know this sounds like the "basics" of waitering, but so many places can't seem to get even this right. read more

They call him Bond, Jason Bond: so my hosts told me when they took me to lunch at Beacon Hill Bistro, about the chief chef in culinary charge there. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the term "eclectic" came into my brain. As far as the location, it is very prime. Charles Street is accessible to so many touristy spots. The bistro is charming, very cozy and warm, and so very French. I was looking forward to a great lunch. We hit the prime time of lunch time drama: it was very busy. Our server seemed to be overtaxed; so we waited a bit even for our drink orders. The wine selection was pretty ample, as options for lunch go. I ordered the spicy greens with radish, shallots, and a cheese crumble, to start and it came with a fruity vinaigrette. I really enjoyed it and I believe it was $8.00 -- not large but tasty. My friends both ordered the raw oysters and those were gone in 10 seconds. I think what was tough for me is that I really struggled on my "lunch" decision. Make no mistake, the options sounded very intriguing but I seemed to always find one item in each dish that I really didn't care for. Enter Mr. Bond. (Or at least that's who I think it was though he looked more like a computer social network mastermind.) He concocted a wonderful pasta for me with wild mushrooms, basil and parsley, and gently tossed with grated cheese. It was great. My colleagues ordered a mini duck confit tureen and both proclaimed it as "masterful". Well, okay, but I was simply happy with my own dish. Our little group got the wrong bill at the conclusion. Like a modern tailored Kiton suite, matching Ferragamo loafers, and elegant Hermès' cufflinks; Beacon Hill Bistro does a job well done. Randomly stumbled into BHB after becoming lost on the Freedom-Trail. I stayed for just an aperitif but left full and ebulliently satisfied. Like it's name, Beacon Hill Bistro is located in Beacon Hill; the Montecito of Santa Barbara or Bel-Air of Los Angeles. The restaurant itself is small but not stuffy, it's pricey but not pretentious, and it's neat but not sterile. Ordered a glass of Trimbach 05 Pinot Blanc and a basket of French Bread (complementary). The wine had a nose of grapefruit pear citrus and crisp finish. It paired perfectly with a sunny summer day and the bread was chewy around the edges and billowy soft through its center. I would have been completely content with my already perfect choices; However, the Vanilla Pancakes with Caramelized Bananas just couldn't be left un-enjoyed. And let me tell you... let me tell you they where exceptionally grand! From the service and product to the presentation; at Beacon Hill Bistro you will not be left wanting anything more. read more

We tried a pre fixe coupon special that promised us a dinner for two for $100, valued at $200 (the coupon provided a break down of the "actual" value of each entree, which seemed way overpriced). Our helpful waitress warned us that the portions would be small, but after receiving our third plate which had a patty the size of a half dollar coin in the middle, we decided we better keep eating bread. After eating four slices each, we were barely full - our 'final' entree (we chose teh vegetarian option) was a small piece of butternut squash surrounded by lentils. The dessert was the most filling dish of all, but of course, a meal that is not satisfying doesn't end well with a good-sized dessert. We are used to fine dining portions, especially for pre fixe menus, but these were were actually minuscule. The value of this meal was barely $50 per person - we are not large people with unruly appetites - just an average Boston couple looking to enjoy new flavors and feel satisfied after our meal. Bistro review: very inattentive service, terrible experience I recently had a delicious dinner made very unpleasant by a four or five-year old child right beside me at the next table watching tv on her iPad without headphones, sometimes at full volume and always very audibly. This might not bother me at casual place or very early meal but this a 7:30 dinner where my table spent about $80 per person. Other diners seemed to be disturbed as well so I tried to politely ask the parents to move the child to an open seat the end of their table that was further from other tables. I was rudely rebuffed and the volume turned down to the half-way for a only a moment. They lingered over coffee, staying late with the child. There was no relief. The BHHB waiter, polite but generally inattentive, could hear and see the iPad but said nothing about it. I was really disappointed with my experience and would discourage anyone from visiting Beacon Hill Bistro. I felt disrespected not only by the rude neighbors and the staff who made no attempt to control the atmosphere in their beautiful space. read more

We enjoy this spot for brunch, and it's one of the places we have on our to-frequent list. The duck confit's really good - love the touch of the shishito peppers! I also prefer the brunch potatoes here to other places because I like my potatoes hugeee. Another plus is that you can freely substitute potatoes for a nice leafy side salad if you're in a more healthy mood. And the number one reason it's on our routine list is that I'm OBSESSED with their giant sourdough slices. I love sourdough more than I love my mom, so oversized, chunky, airy sourdough with that extra sour/tangy taste? UGH. Take all my moneys! That said, there are a few caveats that stop this place from being higher rated: If you get there earlier for brunch, great. But otherwise, there's a long wait (fine) and rather bad/confused service. Then there's a consistency issue: First time I went, I got the smoked salmon scrambled eggs and it was dainty, great flavor, nice amount of salmon, etcetc. I ordered the same thing maybe two weeks later and the eggs came floating in a huge pool of oil and I'm not sure it even had creme fraiche in it that time..so if you go here, it's a toss-up between which version of the food comes out that day. Finalllly...they charge 4.5 for a plain coffee. I can get an overpriced Starbucks right down the street with extra macchiato whipped cream or whatever for less than that. We're not scrapping for pennies or anything, but I can't help but feel like there's something morally wrong with that price scheme. read more

I really enjoyed the food I had here, which was priced about what you'd expect for upscale brunch ($8-10 for breakfast-y items, also had some soups, salads, and lunch entrees). I had the apple french toast and it was tasty, although the apples were cold which I didn't like. Good coffee, too, with a real sugar bowl and little cream pitcher to doctor it up from. The service was kinda weak, though. Deepa C. made our book club group a reservation and they got the time wrong. They managed to squeeze us in to the table in the back corner by the bar. The bartender was our server, so he was pretty busy with drink orders and such the whole time. Food and coffee came at the same time, after a long pause. Took a long time to get change, then pay our check. Clearly the place was really busy and I think the food is good enough to merit its popularity, but I found the little service issues to be irksome. I kind of enjoyed the bathrooms being in a subterreanean tunnel, but they could've been cleaner for a place this schmancy. I'd go again if invited, but since it's a ways out of my way and I wasn't supremely wowed, it's not my top choice for future meals. read more

such a cute and charming little place! the restaurant is right downstairs and the elevator was hidden on the side. the rooms were great and so cozy. i had the regular room and it had a cute bed with a small desk and a wonderful bathroom set up. there was a very tiny closet space but as long as you don't have too much then you are okay. also, the wireless internet didn't really work in room. even though there was a public computer, all print outs and fax need to go thru the front desk. there wasn't much on tv either. it is great for if you are on vacation or pleasure but not too much if you are on business. i loved the complimentary breakfast. there is normally only one person working so if you need 3 refills on your coffee then you may need to weight a little. otherwise, the service is friendly. i had the smoked salmon and cream cheese omelet and it was huge! the house potatoes and sour dough toast was great! i also had the belgium waffles with seasonal berries (strawberries) with powdered sugar and syrup. the waffles weren't as chewy as i wanted them to be. all in all the food was great. read more

A lunch review for this restaurant seems like an anomaly here at Yelp, and so does a 4-star review, but I suspect that lunch is one of the best reasons to visit the BHHB. Apart from the bar. Leighann might be on to something there. Otherwise, you've convinced me. Brunch sounds mediocre, dinner sounds overpriced and the whole place does seem like a 3-star deal. But not lunch, friends. Hearty portions of classics, well-prepared, at around $15 a pop. My steak was perfect, the sauce was perfect, the bite from the generous pile of fresh watercress was perfect. And my husband liked his salad. The bread was very fresh, the service was attentive, the light was pretty and I love the wood and tile interior, which I thought matched the lunch prices pretty well. Minus a star because the place was empty (that's not why) and quiet as could be, so I could totally hear the waitstaff chatting it up. And they were reading some sort of Spencer's Gifts type catalog out loud and laughing at the obnoxious t-shirt slogans and the gag gifts. So it was kind of like eating lunch next to a boy scout troop. Also, it's walking distance from MGH and, thus, my obstetrician's office. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at this cute hotel and ate at the Bistro during the summer of 2009 and were impressed. AS A HOTEL: Cute, fun, small. Staff is helpful and nice. Good for it's hip rooms, internet nook and chic roof-top terrace. Did I mention the KILLER location?! Some Pitfalls: The rooms are a bit small, and there is no parking- which makes checking-in a bit cumbersome. AS A BISTRO: We had dinner and brunch during our stay. Both were amazing. I had a pasta and chicken dish which was both inventive and homey. My boyfriend had the duck which he said was a fantastic flavor experience. On the downside, the service was a bit slow and assumptive at times: at both meals my plate was taken before I was finished, without asking! read more

I went here for dessert a few weeks back. The highlight of the evening was the meringue that was part of my strawberry dessert. The service was extremely poor. Our waiter was as attentive as a stone wall - that is 500 ft . away. The ambiance is that of a pretentious restaurant: loud elevator music, expensive meals with very little food on your plate, but presented like an art piece. I doubt I will be going back soon. Bought a couple of tickets for the Harvest Dinner benefitting Verrill Farm and it exceeded expectations greatly. Never dined here because it has that new generic look that's getting a bit tired at 5-7 years old. I noticed the reviews are not favorable, but I beg you to give it a chance. Head Chef Jason B. seems to be a recent addition. He's worked No. 9 Park, B&G Oysters, Burdick's, and other esteemed places. He did not disappoint in the least and came out to greet us just before dessert, a very nice gesture after a long night of cooking many 5 course meals. He seemed to be a humble and focused chef, twas an honor to meet him. He's all substance and no flash, just like his cooking. The meal was sublime, the best in recent memory, and quite a value at 60 dollars. (Actually, at 12 dollars a course, it's the best deal in a long time!) His use of ingredients from Verrill was not simply "earthy", it was a very clear picture of a chef's vision. The plates were comfortably layered, deep in elemental flavors that were judiciously added to, and flawlessly executed, course after course. This goes far and above bistro level. I am very happy to patronize a restaurant that supports local farms as well. Give it shot, I am seriously curious about brunch. read more

I rarely write poor reviews but this brown-haired, female bartender was just so darn mean. The first night I was there she just seemed preoccupied and I chalked it up to the busy holiday season. However, she sure paid lots of attention to her buddy in the corner. The second night I was there, she made no eye contact. I had to ask for water and a menu, she seemed annoyed by questions and she was often M.I A. To top it off, she snapped at the people next to me and when they retorted she was beyond rude. Even if she was in the right about what she said to them she should have handled it very differently. If I were her boss, I'd fire her or make her watch episodes of Cheers. This way she can see how nice bartenders act. As for the food...it was ok. The fish was overpriced but decent. My bread pudding was as dry as a desert though. read more

Cute, sunny seating area. The food was decent but nothing special. Service was on the slower side, but then again we had a pretty large group. Everyone enjoyed a round of mimosas and coffee, ah the brunch staples. Foodwise, the french toast was the fav of the brunch, but it wasn't spectacular. My poached eggs on brioche was a close second. Two friends who had the roasted mushroom omelet thought it was okay but kind of tasteless. Neither of two other friends liked the scrambled eggs with salmon - they found the eggs very rubbery. The breakfast sausage was kind of nasty. When it came time to pay, the waitress took away the check and came back after 15 min and said they could only split among 4 credit cards...Why didn't she just say that to begin with? read more

The French Toast with Cider Braised Apples and Spiced Crème Fraîche is the best French Toast in the area! The sweet and sour taste of the crunchy apples goes so perfectly well with the delicious French Toast. The spiced cream gives a elegant finish. And I top all of my dishes off with bacon because I am just a little obsessed...the bacon at this bistro is extra smokey and extra delicious! For egg dishes, I have tried the Poached Eggs with Smoked Ham, Toasted Brioche, and Herb Hollandaise. This is well yet another phenomenal combination. Toasted brioche is light and fluffy and goes so well with the poached eggs. The smoked ham is truly smokey, which puts a unique touch on this eggs benedict. I think I may become a regular at Beacon Hill Bistro, for Brunch at least. I will update this review once I have tried dinner. read more

If the steak frites were a dance they'd be the hokey pokey......because that's what it's all about! After walking by this place dozens of times I finally decided to give it a shot. The dining room was buzzing as a bistro should be. The mussels to start with were great and my steak was off the chain. My wife had a pasta dish which had braised chicken (first flag), Brussel sprouts ( second flag) and bacon (thought it would make up for all the flags!). I thought the brussel sprouts overwhelemed the dish, but she loved it. Overall had a great night and would come again. Lots of locals here so that is a good sign! read more

This is a very cool little place for dinner. We walked in without a reservation around 8 to sit at the bar. Bad move; the bar is packed and all the tables are taken except of one small table next to bar that was not set up. One of my kids (she is the one that is quick on her feet and pushy) pointed out the table to the waitstaff who promptly set it up for us. We are doing pretty well so far. We sit down and in about 2 seconds the bartender (this woman is working like crazy) pops over and takes our drink order. In a flash she is back with an absolutely perfect martini. This experience is going uphill fast. After giving us some time to look at the menu the super efficient bartender is back for our order. The best part of course was the food. Again, no disappointments here. Vegetarian lasagna was off the chart as was the frittes (I know this because I stole most of one my kids frittes. Unfortunately I can not attest to the steak since that was well guarded again my stealthy advances). An appetizer of gherkins, mustard, excellent french bread and pate was fantastic. Once finished eating we sat over a final glass of wine without any feeling of the staff wanting to rush us to turn the table. Nice atmosphere, well trained staff and excellent food. read more

The fries were fairly traditional frites - thin, crispy and salty (in a good way). The steak was done how I asked, was tender and delicious. If I had a complaint, it's that I would have liked a little more caramelization/browning on the outside of the steak. Breakfast is also very good. It's been well covered in reviews, so I'll leave it at that. Hotel: Very cute, 12 room inn in a terrific neighborhood. The rooms are reasonably sized, and comfortable. Disclaimer: Reviewing the Bistro only I read a lot of reviews before we went to dinner at BHHB, I was a little worried to go here since the average rating put it at about a 3...not a good way to start a meal that's going to be rather expensive. My brother lives on Beacon Hill and wanted us all to try the restaurant when we were in town. We made reservations for 7:30pm on Saturday night and arrived, got seated with no problem. Our waitress came to get our drink order but never told us her name...oh well, not that I really care but was just surprised. She told us the Pork dish was limited (1 left) so if we wanted it, to order ASAP...my husband ended up ordering this. She explained the menu which was slightly confusing as well as the Forgotten Greens. Menu was printed same day which made me feel confident everything is very fresh. We started with appetizers/salads: Gravlax (smoked salmon), Endive Salad, Beet Salad, Raw Oysters and the Mussels and Tagliatelle. With no exaggeration, all 5 of us cleaned our plates completely! Also to mention, the bread bowl consisted of 3 different types of bread, raisin, sourdough type and white. For our main entree, 3 of my party at the Duck Breast served over the Forgotten Greens, like I said my husband had the Pork Shoulder (pull apart tenderness) and I had the Free Range Chicken Breast with Farro. And again....our plates were all completely clean...even the parsley garnish was eaten! We all enjoy food and will spend the extra money to enjoy something spectacular. When the food arrived, the portions are pretty small, but they really are the perfect size so you don't leave stuffed. I do not think service was slow at all, we were tended to and given everything we needed promptly. Every table was full, so it's not like we were there at an "off" time. We enjoyed dessert and coffee and were on our way. $300 for a family of 5 with apps and entrees and desserts and a bottle of Barbera D'Alba ($45), without the tip. Of the 5 days, 4 nights we spent in Boston...this was my favorite meal. I'm glad I didn't let Yelp dictate my choice to go here (as I don't usually). But we had a wonderful experience and are so glad we tried it! *decor is nice, modern, casual...jeans are acceptable but so are slacks. Definitely a restaurant experience not worth having! My mother was visiting so I thought I'd try this place out as their menu online looked good. The greeting at the door was less than stellar to start. Next problem, the menu online was not the menu I was presented with when we sat down. There were some items on the menu that I liked, which was the reason I specifically chose this restaurant. Moving along. We both ordered and our meal was presented to us in less than 10 minutes. One would think this is a good thing, however to me this screams pre-prepared meals. I ordered the scallops with Israeli couscous. My scallops were cooked nicely, but were not cleaned well as each one of them had a considerable amount of grit that made you feel as if you were eating sand with your meal. The presentation of the plate was messy and there was virtually no couscous. This meal was $29!!!! I wouldn't pay $10 if I were have been able to see it prior. For dessert, we shared the lavender creme brulee. Although very tasty, it was clearly old and had been sitting in a refrigerator for days. The brulee on the top was chewy to say the least. Those who love creme brulee know that the best part is the crunchy caramelized sugar top to the dish. Upon leaving, the two hostesses were too involved in their own conversation to even thank us for coming....don't worry, I won't be back. Two entrees, two glasses of wine and one dessert, $100. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT!!! So many much better restaurants, even on the same street. read more
