I went on a Saturday evening for dinner . Reservations were made but wasn't required . Our waiter was attentive and patient with us as we looked over the menu . The ambience was comfortable and high class it made me feel extra fancy lol. Vaccination is required for indoor seating but a beautiful outside seating setup is available (non heated) . We started of with the sizzling Canadian bacon with a side of a Caesar salad it was good . My date and I both decided on the surf and turf and lobster mac . I had Long Island tea for my drink of choice which was very tasty and strong by the third one I was cross eyed , my date had a triple shot of casamigos a full top shelf bar is available. I got my steak medium it was cooked PERFECTLY! Lobster and shrimp was tender I would definitely get this again . The lobster Mac was delicious as well I wish I could ask for the recipe . I'm not sure how expensive it was because my date didn't let me see but by the prices on the menu it's expensive so please be ready to spend $$$. Solid steakhouse! Went to a team dinner here and they were able to accommodate us upstairs. We had a prix fixe menu and the food was good. We were all full by the time dessert came out. Only downfall is how far the bathroom is, definitely be careful if you had few drinks in cause there's a lot of stairs to get to the bathroom. read more

Went for Restaurant week dinner last Tuesday. I was really looking forward to it reading the good reviews. I even compared it with other steakhouses doing Restaurant Week as well. Reservation wise, quick and easy via Open Table. I requested for a really good table celebrating a milestone event. They gave a wonderful one by the balcony. That was a nice touch. As for the food, we did take advantage of the restaurant week menu but also ordered from the main menu. For appetizers, I had calamari which was delicious with their marinara sauce. My husband had the slab of Canadian bacon. Both good and pretty generous. I ordered a glass of Champagne and husband had a glass of Malbec. They did offer bread too but it's not the freshly baked irresistible bread with butter type, I skipped this. Wish it was better. We both got the sirloin for entree and it came with mashed potato and vegetables. I found the steak okay, it was medium well not medium rare as I asked. I only ate half and left the rest untouched. Thankfully we ordered the Surf and Turf which was $85 and menu says, 12 oz filet mignon, 2 oz lobster, 2 oz shrimp, 1 oz king crab, bordelaise, beurre blanc for $84.95 so we were excited and asked for it medium rare plus. It came and presentation is beautiful but felt underwhelmed to be honest. Didn't really feel the lobster and especially didn't see the crab in it though so that was a let down. Dessert was chocolate mousse which came recommended, it was good but didn't really deliver that perfect dessert pleasure. My husband got the ice cream which was supposed to be vanilla and strawberry and he got chocolate and strawberry, he doesn't like chocolate ice cream so it was also just okay. Overall, 3.5 but bumping it to a 4 because of the wonderful service from Jet last Tuesday night and for giving us a great table by the balcony. There was also a guy who kept on asking 'how's everything going?" from tables who had white customers and for at least 3-4 times that night, chose to not ask how the asians and people of color are finding everything. $230+ and a generous tip later, everything adds up to the experience. It wasn't bad for sure, it just felt a little flat. Wishing it was a much better experience to write and rave about as I usually do. read more

Great steak place in midtown. Came here while visiting for work with my fiancé. The interior was nicely done for a modern looking steakhouse. We ordered the porterhouse for two and it came out perfectly cooked and juicy. We then ordered the bacon and Mac n cheese for our sides. Both were amazing. I love getting bacon at NYC steakhouses since they are alway thick slab. Cocktails are perfectly crafted and they do pour heavy so you get your moneys worth. Servers came out and spoke often to us and with so many servers running around you always had someone available to help if you needed something Overall this is a great place to enjoy a steak and cocktails. Absolutely amazing dinner from start to finish. Went for our anniversary dinner and service was impeccable. Several of the staff checked on us throughout the evening and made sure we wanted for absolutely nothing during dinner. My husband had the prime rib which was really good and I had the rack of lamb- absolutely delicious! The imported buffalo mozzarella and tomato starter was so good and fresh tasting- a definite must! It's the only picture I took of the food unfortunately! We also had the fries and mixed mushrooms. The food was so delicious and we ate so fast that we forgot about the photos! Everything about this place impressed me. Our server was perfect and thanks to the hostess for taking our photo out front! Again- the hospitality of the staff was great! The booking is very easier and they will text/call you to get a confirmation prior the scheduled time. The atmosphere is toward classic steakhouse, low lighting with white color tablecloth. The table fits four people and big enough for few appetizers. The bacon and big shrimp are must order appetizers. You can shared bacon with two to three people. If you have to pick between porterhouse vs tomahawk, then go with the steak! If you lucky, then you might ran into few table of Asian ladies (tourist) or other ladies night out for dinner : ) Overall great experience and wasn't as pricy as I expected which is a plus. My family ate dinner at this restaurant the Saturday before Christmas (last month). Our concierge set up our reservation as we wanted a nice relaxing upscale steak dinner and a comfortable table to accommodate our son who uses a wheelchair. Unfortunately this restaurant did not meet our expectations. It was pure chaos. Waiters were running around everywhere, restaurant was so loud that we could not hear each other talk. Additionally we were seated right next to the kitchen door so we had waiters constantly opening and closing the door throughout dinner, glasses being broken by our feet and we kept ducking when waiters came out because we were worried the plates were going to fall on use. Yes we were that close to the door! I was so disgusted with the seating and ambience that I could not eat but my husband rated the food as "just okay". The waiter was not friendly at all. When we addressed our horrible seating arrangement he just shrugged his shoulders. It was clear it was an awful table. He did not apologize nor did he have management come over. We travel to NYC and only eat at high end restaurants and this was our first bad experience. This place clearly stays busy so they could care less if 1 table has a bad experience. They must be getting hotel concierge referring people to them so they don't care. When you walk in to the restaurant you see all these tacky photos of celebrities who have eaten there- that should have been the first sign that it was going to be bad. I've been several times for work lunches. The service is always great and servers are attentive and professional. I highly recommend for a special occasion unless regularly going to a steak place is your thing. It seems that most people who come here are for work events. Stand-out items - Canadian bacon thick cut (5/5): always so delicious and well cooked. I would never have thought to order it. - Steak for four with sides (mushroom, creamed spinach, mashed potato): so yummy and satisfying. These are my favorite sides to get. - Key lime pie: it's crazy that a steak place has such a yummy key lime pie, I think it's outsourced from another bakery but I recommend. I stopped by Benjamin's Steakhouse for dinner and the ambiance was low dim lights and good vibes. It was quite packed and I had to wait at the bar for a bit maybe 10 mins after my reservation time. The food was really delicious and I went for restaurant week to finally try it out. We had the calamari and caesar salad to start. The calamari was ok but the caesar salad was delicious. We had the sirloin steak which was made perfectly medium. We both got mash potatoes for sides which was nothing spectacular. To end the course we had the carrot cake and chocolate mousse cake. The carrot cake was surprisingly delicious probably the best I've had to date and I don't even like carrot cake. The chocolate cake was too sweet. We also had a cheesecake to go which wasn't the best to me. Overall I would definitely come back on a regular day to try out more from the menu. The service was really good but at times it did feel a bit rushed. I can understand wanting to keep things moving as restaurant week is pretty busy. I finally was able to check out Benjamin Steakhouse this week and wow, just wow. I have not stopped talking about the strip steak I had from here since I had it. This is undoubtedly one of the best New York institutions there is. The steak was cooked to perfection. I had no idea a former Peter Lugers employee started this restaurant, and it is no wonder why their standards are so high and their steak is so well prepared. The atmosphere is 10/10 - an old school steakhouse vibe. We also had the fries, creamed spinach, bacon, and oysters - all of which were excellent. The meat was tough and needed horseradish and salt for flavor. The shishito peppers were a yummy side dish and the mashed potatoes were just meh. They handed us each a glass of celebratory champagne since we were celebrating. They have a good wine list. My husband and I shared almost everything. I was able to try some of my friend's Ribeye. Both were phenomenal options. For the sides, I was very impressed with the mashed potatoes!!! Every single food item was tasty and perfect, from the assorted bread basket to the NY sirloin to the chocolate mousse for dinner. The steak is filling and well-cooked. My favorite was the sirloin as I felt it had more of a crust on the exterior and a little bit of fat to add some flavor. But the filet was excellent nonetheless. Of the two desserts, my favorite was the chocolate mousse. I just love chocolate. The wait staff were efficient and friendly. No real complaints. The only few negative things I would point out was that I felt the tables were placed rather close to one another. There was no way people were spaced 6 feet apart. Also, I noticed some of the wait staff not wearing their masks appropriately. It was basically a chin guard judging by how low it was on their face. Really impressed by the vibes, high ceiling, decorated in a classic steakhouse styles. We came here for the restaurant week deals $59 per pax (including tax + tip) less than $80. We got appetizers, fried calamari was really crispy from the outside but soft inside. Imported buffalo mozzarella was really refreshing. Restaurant pet peeve ... getting seated as a party of 1 or with my wife at the worst table in the house and/or right next to a huge party. Combination of both at Benjamin tonight. A real shame considering I quite like it there, but I won't pay a huge tab for a NY steakhouse meal when I'm getting the dregs of service left over from a big party with whom I'm sharing wait staff. My wife and I had a phenomenal experience at Benjamin's House. It started with them quickly agreeing we could move our reservation up an hour. To be fair, it could have been they were experiencing a drop in patrons due to coronavirus, but their pleasant demeanor was pleasant nevertheless. The food was phenomenal. I had perhaps the best NY strip steak ever, and on a couple of occasions the waiter moved a sizzling morsel of heaven from the serving dish to my plate to save me the muscle strength of doing so myself. The crab macaroni and cheese was phenomenal. A mouth watering delight. And the lobster bisque? One word...phenomenal! To add icing to this phenomenal cake, when I booked on Open Table I indicated we were celebrating my wife's birthday. So when I was waiting impatiently for the check, having now forgotten I mentioned this on my reservation request, they came out with a phenomenal creme brûlée birthday desert for her, complete with candle and happy birthday mini-sign in it. Dearest Benjamin, Writing today to share some thoughts from my recent lunchtime visit to your. I had heard great prior to dining and for the most part you did not disappoint. Your interior is simple, yet grand. The two story dining room with rows and rows of tables and a massive mantle/fireplace somehow made the space feel comfortable and cozy. Your staff helped to keep that vibe going. Our waiter (who's name I unfortunately cannot remember...) was soo so so so good. Charismatic, personable, a true talent. He took our order - drinks and steaks for four people + shared apps and side dishes - with a slight nod (as opposed to pen/paper) and was off. Remarkably everything came out as ordered, not a single item forgotten. On this particular day I opted for a leaner cut of beef -- the Filet Mignon. The medallion of steak that was placed in front of me was gorgeous. And delicious. Cooked as I has asked, seasoned beautifully, tender and juicy despite my asking for it to be cooked medium well, every bite was fantastic. Dessert is also something to be praised -- I will always order a NY Style Cheesecake if its on the menu...so classic and almost seems necessary after a good ol' steak. and Benjamin's did not disappoint. What did disappoint (hence the less than 5-stars) were the side dishes. Call me crazy but if you're going to have a delicious steak then you need a couple delicious sides to compliment the meal. Obviously the steak should be the star of the show... but the star is only as good as it's supporting characters, right? Our table ordered the asparagus, the creamless creamed spinach, lobster mac and cheese, and the Benjamin homefries + blue cheese crumbles. Sadly, nothing I just listed is something I would go back for or order again. The mac and cheese was good; creamy and cheesy but the little pieces of lobster were 'eh' and they might as well had not even been there. The asparagus tasted overcooked to me. The signature homefries were the most disappointing item on the table. Teeny tiny potatoes cooked with onions were a bit soft and soggy to me, I would have preferred a bigger bite and some crunch. And the blue cheese was just sprinkled on top after the potatoes were plated. It didn't even melt! Imagine if that potato dish were put under the broiler for 30 seconds... just something to think about Benji. Four out of five still isn't bad though.
