I was a little worried when seeing only an average of 3 stars for Big O Tires, but my husband highly recommended this place by calling it "the best and most honest store for tire service". I needed a replacement of two front tires, and the dealership quoted me around $400 each; then I searched online and found around $280 each. I called Big O Tires, the service manager Jorge picked up and quoted a tire price immediately. After hearing the online price I had, he was very honest suggesting me ordering the tires online and then having his guys do the installation. And he gave a SUPER FAIR installation quote for only about $18/tire. I was so impressed by his honest and professional response over a phone call. And I ordered my tires the same day. When tires were delivered, I called again and Jorge again made an appointment for me in 1 minute. Today I was 20-30 minutes late from appointment time due to late departure from office, and there were so many customers waiting there. I was worried if there might be a delay due to my late arrival, and I was even ready for a longer waiting and processing time. What really surprised me was: the management was so effective and efficient! Jorge took each customer one by one and double checked each person's concern/reason being here, and in the meantime, I could see through windows that all mechanicians were busily performing their work. Jorge checked me in and confirmed the tires I ordered in store. I arrived at 4:30pm, by 5pm my car was already lifted up for tire replacement; by 5:40pm it was all set to go! The cost I paid was identically the same one as Jorge quote over phone! Jorge and the mechanician Oscar even triple checked tire pressure with me and made sure everything was fine: it was not fine, it was more than perfect! Roger is an amazing Service Manager and was so gracious with helping me out today. My boyfriend was changing my oil at home, and because the last auto shop that changed my oil either over-tightened the filter or forgot to lubricate the filter ring, he struggled in twisting off the filter. After numerous attempts, he ended up causing damage to the filter making it undriveable until the filter can be removed and replaced. I called Big O Tires since I saw they were open today (on a Sunday which is rare for most places) and explained to Roger the situation. He was more than happy to take my car in (2 hours before closing) to change my oil and said he can get it back to me the same day. I had my car towed to Big O Tires since we didn't want to risk an oil leak if we were to drive it. Once we arrived, Roger greeted us and said he'll call us when my car is ready. Since we brought our car in so close to their closing time, he set our expectation that it may end up being ready shortly after they close (understandably). I appreciate that he was willing to stay after their closing time to get my car finished. Roger was also nice to accept the parts that we were planning on using so that all we would pay for was the labor. 30 min after closing, my car was finished. When it came time to pay, he let me go with no charge. Overall this was a great experience, and I plan on coming back for all my oil changes. I highly recommend others to do the same. read more

The dummy light for tire pressure came on (not the first time - ugh!) so I pulled in to see if they could check out my tires/pressure. I went there yesterday Sunday February 27, 2022. I had flat on the 5 South freeway. After realizing mostly all tire shops are closed on Sunday I had my car towed to Big O. Unfortunately I needed a new tire. Mishonda had me in and out of there in less than an hour. She is an asset to your business. I stopped by because I picked up a small metal rod in my Jeep tire. They were able to plug it and switch it out with my spare in less than an hour. They recommended a really good breakfast spot that was a 10 minute walk as well. When I asked to pay they said there was no charge for that service because it was simple and did not take long. If I had went to a CDJR dealership it would have been $60 just to put it on a lift. I like customizing my vehicles and will definitely be coming here in the future for anything and everything. read more

Shout out to Roger, who mounted and balanced my used tire for free! Here's the story: I had an appointment to get a nail in the tire patched. They had my car until the next day, but couldn't patch it since the nail was too large. They couldn't reach me because I cant use my cell at work. I take the tire back with me so my dad can look at it, and in my rush to get this done, we didn't realize that I had a completely wrong tire. Whoops--the brand, size and rim were totally off! Since I'm also bad at answering my cell, someone ends up texting me for the issue and offers to go to me for the switch. But I'm no longer in town, so I say I'll come in today instead. While out of town I pick up a spare tire my dad had for those just in case situations. Now it's the day to pick it up--I explain this to Roger, who proceeded to switch the rims from my bad tire to my good tire, balance it, and seem to finish it all faster than you could read this review! TL;DR They made a mistake, but more than resolved it with their follow through, skill, and customer service. read more

I had a tire shipped from tirerack here since it was on there list of recommended installer and boy was that a mistake. First off they would not honor the install/mounting price listed on tirerack. The guy gave me some BS saying they list those prices without there consent. Ok so why not contact tirerack and post the real prices especially if you're listed as a "price pledge" installer? Instead of $13.99 for 40 series tire they wanted $25. Can you say false advertising? Later the guy tries to give me some BS about how he needs to charge me an additional fee because my tire had what he thought was TPMS sensors and low profile tires. Sorry but that's a standard value stem and not a TPMS. Lucky i know enough about my car and tires to NOT get ripped off. The funny thing was as i was waiting he later comes over attempting to upsell me there company credit card. He even said he would comp the labor charge if i signed up. Sure i'm going to come back again after this whole ordeal? Yeah right... Anyhow i was in a rush since i had a blow out and was running late for work and paid the exorbitant rate. But i definitely won't be coming back or recommend this place to anyone. Definitely be ware of shady practices especially if you don't know much about cars. read more

I came to Big O Tires to have one of my tires repaired. Since i had purchased a new set of tires here 2 years ago, i get free repair. Well that didn't happen. After waiting about 30 minutes i was told that the tire cannot be repaired because the tire is to worn out?! The Michellin tires I purchase are set for up to 60k miles, I only have 43k miles! It was disheartening to see that they "could not" fix my tire but instead wanted to sell me a new set for almost $800. They refused to fix it because of policy? Can't recommend, took 5 trips to get my car right. Some background, almost a year ago I was in need of an alignment on my 2009 vehicle, as I had just got 2 new tires to match the pair that I'd already replaced on the car 3 months earlier. I am not the pickiest guy but I did shop around and compare several tires and prices, eventually picked a tire not many shops sell which was a Yokohama SUV tire. Basic car care dictates that you always get your car's wheels aligned to make new tires last and avoid trouble with uneven wear down the road. I showed up on probably a Saturday early and there was not a huge wait, but the guy tried to sell me a 3 year warranty, then a 2 year warranty, then finally just relented after I insisted I did not plan to have the car beyond another year or 15,000 miles. I'm like buddy, I just want a basic alignment. Eventually they sold me a 4-wheel alignment with 1-year warranty after coupon was about $100. One of the assistants working there was nice enough to explain to me that if I came in about every 6 months, and then right before the warranty was to expire, then that was the best way to make sure my car was always properly aligned. I thought... cool, good advice. They also recommended a camber kit because one of my wheel's camber was just slightly off, usually from hitting a pothole or some other obstruction in the road. And also wanted to "upgrade" my shocks for about $900 even though they weren't due for replacement yet. Thinking long and hard about all of it I declined the extra work and the car drove nice for the next half a year as expected. Fast Forward 7-8 months and apparently this place went through a change in management at some point. Different people running the place and different computer system, etc. I'm pretty sure. Went back to get my front shocks replaced, as they were scheduled for replacement and pretty spongy, rotate the tires, and also redo the alignment because it's required to avoid problems after doing that sort of work. Paid about $700 for all work including the camber kit and thought I was all good at that point. Noticed about 48 hours later the steering wheel was not aimed straight even after the realignment. The car tracked relatively straight on the highway without steering, so I didn't worry extremely heavily, but decided to go back at my first convenience. (2 weeks later) Revisit #1 to ask to recheck the alignment, had left work early and showed up at 3:30 because this supposed to be their slow time. They turned me away saying, it'll take at least 2 hours (they were not busy) and the manager seemed like they'd rather close early and go home. (week later) Revisit #2 showed up 7:30am on a weekend as recommended by the other manager, and were not busy again, but nobody was there to do the work. Said guy would be there at 9:30, I refused to wait 3+ hours to realign the car when not busy, so I left. (week later) Revisit #3 the same manager as #1 said they could do the work but the best guy wasn't there, they could do it but he recommended coming back when the same guy was there who originally worked on it. (month later... got busy and tired of the runaround) Revisit #4 Monday I noticed my tires weren't rotated properly when I had the front shocks replaced, the "good" tires were still on the back and was super annoyed because I could now see a much lower tread on the front than I expected, and starting to see some misalignment wear also! they agreed to do the work when I got there 7:30 on a Tuesday as recommended and weren't overly busy. explained the problem and guy didn't really remember me, scratched his head and said OK. they rotated and rebalanced my tires (extra charge for rebalance) and said we noticed one of the shocks went bad we'll replace it and realign free but not today, we need the part and it will take the rest of the day, so come back on Thursday mid morning. Revisit #5 Got there at the appointed time only to find the shop extremely busy. Already took time off and needed the work done badly, so put my car in and prepared to wait about 2 - 2.5 hours as explained. 1:45 later came back from lunch to see the work was only half done. waited 45 minutes for them to move it along and car was then on the alignment rack but taking considerable time. Asked for a time check how much longer were they going to be, they said 45 minutes but was another hour and 45. 4 hours and change total. last one out of there but car was finally driving and riding correctly. kicker was, they lost my warranty from when I'd originally bought the alignment and could I "bring it in" next chance I get? yeah I'll get right on that........ All in all they finally did the maintenance work right, replaced the bad part (manufacturer warranty), and fixed the problems they caused but I can't recommend this place much. I was wishing I went to the dealer at this point, as painful as that can be it was actually better than this. read more

I needed my serpentine belt replaced and had them take a look at an oil leak. I had a 2pm appointment, arrived at 1:50pm. They went through the free assessment about 20 minutes after I arrived, then told me what work I needed done. I ended up only requesting to have the serpentine belt replaced. I left the shop and came back an HOUR later to see my car sitting in the exact same place I left it and untouched. I then waited longer. By 4:45pm, they finally moved my car, popped the hood, and started working on what I requested. Nearly THREE hours after my appointment they finally started working on my car. With all the car shops in Orange County, there's no reason to not take your car to a place that will be more prompt, especially when you've already scheduled an appointment.
