Bill's Cafe is a medium-sized American brunch chain off the freeway. Menu and vibe is very similar to a I-Hop or Denny's. Service was friendly. Parking is also easy as it has it's own small parking lot. There is a Yelp waitlist, but wasn't an issue, even on Sunday around noon. I ordered the Cinnamon Roll French Toast combo with scrambled eggs and sausage. The Cinnamon Roll French Toast was good, but a tad too sweet for me. It's a flattened cinnamon roll cooked exactly like a french toast. The roll had a good cinnamon taste, but I feel with the syrup as well, sweetness was too much. Friend got the regular French Toast, and found that it wasn't too sweet and the shape of the toast slightly added more of a crisp. The scrambled eggs were a solid yellow, and solid taste. Needed to make sure to salt enough, but was a good combination with the very sweet cinnamon french toast I got. The sausage was alright, but would opt for bacon in the future. Overall, 4/10. The place didn't stand out much from the many breakfast spots in the area. If I was to go with friends though, would order the french toast combo with bacon. read more

Group was seated immediately and food came out relatively quick. When I ordered my scramble, waiter forgot that scrambles come with choice of toast and I had to remind them. One person asked for an item without green onions, but there were green onions on the dish when served. Another person had a meal with bacon, but a piece of bacon dropped onto the ground when server was bringing the plate. The server did not notice and we had to bring it up with the server (another piece of bacon was given though). Ambiance: your typical cafe-restaurant setting. The food was just as good as before, and the prices were somewhat reasonable. The only downfall of the restaurant was the lack of service, and attention on the outdoor dining. They are very friendly people here & have super clean restaurant with tons of parking options right outside that isn't paid parking. Their serving sizes are also big however questioning how they even cook the food cause it came out within 5-10 mins of ordering.... Which at other breakfast places it takes them at least 30+ mins to cook similar orders especially with Benedict. Partner and I came here as apart of our vacation from Colorado & one of the most annoying things about this place was that our sauces were cold, specifically on the Benedict order we got.... Paid 16.50 for some cold Benedict sauce & the home fries weren't very warm either. The 2 eggs and sausages was warm however so that was nice. Their Manhattan drink was not very good either honestly, it tasted like creamer & bourbon... couldn't even taste the coffee flavor at all & just expected a better mix of ingredients especially for the price ($11 bucks) should have just ordered anything else for less. Lastly when you pay (not sure if this is a Cali thing) they don't even show you the full price of your order cause it's just the cost of all your items ordered + tip BUT they don't show you what the tax is with the price so you end up getting a charge on your card for more than what you see on the payment screen.... Super annoying & never have experienced a place that does this! For everything pictured it was $54..... originally when we paid on card w/tip it was $42; assuming that was the whole price since LOL all restaurants I've ever eaten at account the tip when they show the total before you tip them! Mediocre food & high pricing but they do have nice serving sizes so there's that, will be going elsewhere for breakfast however next time. read more

Solid option for breakfast in the Bay Area. My boyfriend, his mom and I came here after Mass at the Cathedral downtown. The place was packed with lots of other brunch goers, but luckily my boyfriend has done the virtual waiting list, so we practically got seated as soon as we entered. I ordered the classic breakfast with a hot cocoa. It was good. Very basic breakfast food. Solid choice, but nothing to write home about. I'll try to order something more unique next time. This is a common stop for breakfast. We have been to many of their cafes with the food and service being good at all locations. The location close to San Jose airport is the most visited. Decided to try a hamburger for a change. Has with most of their plates it was definitely enough food. The soup comes with the hamburger. The Greek lemon has a taste of lemon with chicken and orzo. I could order it again. The one egg is about one of the smallest dishes you can get. The hash browns are always good. I've been to many Bills Cafes over the last 10+ years that I've lived in San Jose and this one ranks in my top 3. Location and Parking: This Bills is located on the first floor of a fairly new apartment building and has covered garage parking on the first floor. They have a blaring alarm/message that says to lock your cars and take your valuables which is actually a great reminder for patrons! The only thing about this location is that it doesnt have a lot around the area if you're looking to walk around after. It really is a destination Bills if you know what I mean. Waitlist: This place turns over crowds quickly (which is good for fast service and wait times) and also has a waitlist on Yelp which definitely adds a lot of value when you have a baby! Bathroom: There are two unisex single room bathrooms. Unfortunately, there are no changing tables if you are looking for one. Food: Consistent and stellar as always! My usual go to is the crab cake benedict with hashbrowns instead of homefries and hollandaise on the side. I always get that and split the Pancake combo breakfast with my husband. I get the bacon extra crispy and they do it the right way! (Right way = break it in half and it sounds like a chip.) Their fresh squeezed orange juice, also delicious. Coffee, also good. Mimosas, good. That croissant french toast thing - really good. Pancakes in general are nice and fluffy. Waffles are also great as well. Havent really had the lunch items, but you cant go wrong with breakfast! And they also have weekday specials too. Last time we got the Banana Pecan pancakes and it was good!
