Found Bistro 12 driving from Newark Liberty Airport to Fishkill late on a Tuesday night. The food was first-rate: my beet salad, followed by sea scallops were great; my colleague's house salad and veal likewise. Miguel and Manuel were gracious hosts even though we arrived close to closing at 9:15 pm. Miguel's artwork graced the walls of this charming little place, just off State Route 9, on Main Street. Small Italian restaurant located among the ever rotating storefronts on Main St. I came for lunch, but like many Italian places, the menu was better suited for dinner. I had the braised rabbit which was like a chicken fricassee but with more tiny bones. The rabbit came with a small serving of runny polenta, nicely sautéed vegetables, and ordinary potato. read more

This place was an absolute gem in Tarrytown. Our whole experience from the food to the service was topnotch. The owner Miguel was incredibly nice to us and even let us stay late while they were cleaning so we could finish our dinner calmly. Our waiter Carlos was very sweet and made excellent food and drink recommendations. I highly recommend the salted cod with mixed vegetables. The portions were excellent for the price. Phenomenal food! The menu is very extensive and covers a wide range of cuisines of the Mediterranean including Italian and French food. I ordered the tagliatelle duck and it was excellent. The duck was soft and flavorful and the pasta was cooked perfectly and served with porcini mushrooms in the sauce. The burrata appetizer is delicious with truffle. Also, I really enjoyed the lobster bisque on a cold winter evening. Finally, chocolate mousse dessert and some almond dessert were fabulous. Being new to the area, I choose this place based on the stellar reviews Bistro 12 has received on Yelp. The food was so good that I felt compelled to add my accolades. Bistro 12 is small and charming and with reviews like these, I'd image that reservations on a Friday or Saturday night would be a necessity. My visit was for a late lunch with business colleagues. At this hour, the place was fairly empty and quiet, and one of the owners waited on us. He offered recommendations which proved to be very helpful and very satisfying. For appetizers two of us orders the grilled octopus and one ordered the crab meat salad. The octopus was done to perfection - the best I've tasted. For my main course I choose the seafood risotto (which was one of the recommendations). The other dishes ordered were the halibut and the sea bass, both generous portions cooked and seasoned to perfection and accompanied with freshly grilled vegetables. The seafood risotto was outstanding! I'm looking forward to returning as there were many other very tempting dishes on the menu, the only problem being that it will be difficult to pass up the seafood risotto. read more

Our first visit to Bistro 12 was exactly a year ago. Our dinner was delicious, and Miguel treated us as he knew us for many years (including their famous dessert "on a house").Since then we've been there couple more times (going there from NY), and when we were looking for a place to have our small wedding ceremony and a lunch afterwards last week, Bistro was our first choice. We were not disappointed. Manuel and Miguel were very accommodating and did an absolutely great job. Food and wine were amazing, atmosphere is warm and cozy, all our guests (we had a very small reception for about 20 people) really liked the place. We went to the Bistro 12 last evening to celebrate our 36th Wedding Anniversary. I was looking for someplace special to celebrate the occasion. Based on the Yelp reviews, I chose Bistro 12. I am so glad we went here. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were transformed to European atmosphere. Beautiful lighting, tasteful decorations, being greeted at the door by the owner. What more could you ask for? We started with a couple of delicious cocktails hand made by the owner. All of the items on the menu were enticing. I chose the duck confet and my wife chose the broiled Branzino fish. While we waited for our meal we spoke to the owner (sorry I did not get his name).what a true gentleman. He treated us with charm and warmth. We had the Eggplant rollantini for an appetizer, it was delicious. The main course came out and it was beautifully presented and tasted even better. Every bite was mouth watering delicious. After the meal was over, the owner pulled out his guitar and sang Happy Anniversary to us. It was incredible, I was honored. I have found my new "place". I hope you make it yours. Oh yes, he treated us to an after dinner aperitif of muscatel. An overall great experience. read more

This is service-based only. My husband and I booked a reservation for 8:15 on Saturday, but by 6:30, we were famished and thought we would see if the restaurant had an early bird spot. We were met by the proprietor (I think), who approached us as if we were peddling used vacuum cleaners during a busy dinner hour. He asked if we had a rez, and I tried to explain that we had one, but for earlier, but he cut me off and asked our name. I gave it--we will call us "the smiths" for this review--and he said "NO, NO, I only have one for 'Fifths' at 8:15." My husband and I looked at each other, bc he had said our name, except with an F instead of the proper letter. Surely no one has such a name and also made a rez for two at the same time, right? So I calmly pointed that out, and after some push back, I think he realized that. Nevertheless, they were full, but rather than graciously pointing that out he said "You have to go. We cannot seat you here now. How about you come back at the RIGHT time." And then he *ushered* us out of the tiny restaurant (we weren't planning on standing there until 8:25, trust). My husband's eyeball was popping out, he was so mad. It's unclear why I didn't lose it, but the story ends well: The "Fifths" went to a fabulous restaurant down the road called The Twisted Oak and ate one of the best meals we've had--and miraculously, with some of the best service we have ever had! Our first anniversary was saved. In a parallel universe in a galaxy far away, the "Fifths" did not call to cancel their 8:15 rez, those jerks! read more

Not cool. My review is based on making a reservation yesterday, driving all the way up to Tarrytown today (7 pm res) walked into a completely empty restaurant only to be told the manager/owner (maybe this was Miguel?) could not seat my party earlier nor did he have my reservation listed. Um what?? How is that possible we spoke on the phone. He started talking some nonsense of people calling a week in advance when on the phone he gave me multiple reservation times for the following Night. Moral of the story, make sure you get the persons name, and have them read back to you your phone number, correct spelling of your name and party size. We ended up eating at the slammin Greek spot on the corner which I highly recommend. Once we left we walked passed Bistro 12 again to see if it filled up and Something tells me the owner only likes a certain type of clientele dining at his restaurant if you know what I mean...passing judgement was what he did best, he did not apologize nor did he offer any other alternatives for messing up our dinner plans. read more

We had a great time tonight at .bistro 12! Everything was spot on, the seafood risotto was excellent, and seafood stew was fresh, perfectly seasoned and amazing. The restaurant is across from the Tarrytown. music hall, providing a nice view and ambiance. As full as you are, do try a bite of either the flan or chocolate mousse. They are the best. The flan is creamy, not jello-like, and perfectly sweetened. The mousse is not too sweet, but so buttery and rich that just a few bites will do. Our service was perfect. Come and enjoy! read more

Really enjoyed my Sunday afternoon dinner with relatives here. The food was superb and the menu selection was outstanding. I had the Branzino which I really enjoyed, my dining mates had the Salmon and the Seafood Linguine which they really enjoyed also. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and those plates returned to the kitchen without a crumb. They were kind enough to split a salad for us and spent some time on presentation of each so it didn't look like a shared salad and presented us with two specially prepared plates. The loser bisque apparently was so good that the gentleman who ordered it almost cancelled dinner to order two more bowls! We skipped dessert but the owner brought us a caramel custard anyway which normally would not be my choice of dessert but it was excellent. The glasses of wine were actually a decent size, not over filled but not the measured shot one usually gets. The artwork on display was impressive and apparently was created by one of the owners who took the time to discuss it and chat. The location across from Tarrytown Music Hall is a bonus. Bistro 12 had by far the worst food of any restaurant I have ever dined at....the service was great, the atmosphere was very nice, but nothing could prepare us for the culinary slop that was to be put forth in front of us....horrible....both mine and my fiances dishes the veal scallopiniI and the chicken francaise were runny appearing to have been boiled yuck! Miguel and Manuel are perfect hosts in this small restaurant right across the street from the Music Hall! Excellent food (good sized portions) accompanied by wonderful Portuguese wine made for a wonderful time. Miguel also provided musical entertainment! I came to this restaurant tonight with my boyfriend, his parents and his elderly grandfather. We walked in, were not greeted at the door, so my boyfriend walked up to the bar where (presumably) the owners were standing. My boyfriend politely asked if we could be seated. Upon his request, the owners, without uttering a word shook their heads and laughed in his face! It was extraordinarily rude and embarrassing. I don't understand where these people get the audacity to act like this. The restaurant was the size of a shoebox, not even that upscale looking and the diners sitting at the restaurant seemed to be quite casual in dress and demeanor. There was even an open table with 5 place settings right in front of us while the owner mocked us!! Seriously, don't give this place the time of day if you don't like being made to look like a second class citizen...pathetic. Don't even deserve one star. read more
