What a hidden gel? The inside was so unexpected. Service did start off a little slow, but while our server was backed up with other tables...other coworkers helped him out by taking our drink orders and answering questions. After the initial hiccup service was fantastic and everyone we encountered was really nice. The have a good variety of items on the menu. Collectively we had escargot, French onion soup, and also the coq au vin. The coq au vin was to die for. It is definitely worth trying. Please please save room for dessert and get the profiteroles. When I travel to Atlanta to visit my company's office in Buckhead, I'll try to catch a meal here, because honestly, it's on par with the best Bistros I've ever tried (Bouchon comes to mind). AND a French Bistro must be judged by its classics: Cassoulet: Superlative. Heavenly. Steak frites: Best hanger steak I've ever had. Frites slightly underdone but flavorful and cut from fresh spuds. Loup de mer: As perfectly cooked as any sea bass filet you'll ever have, with lemon butter perfection Bread: NOT a baguette, but hot, crusty, Dutch oven bread that makes you forgive the transgression. Decided to eat at Bistro Niko whole visiting my Atlanta Office. Always loved the French menu and vibe in Buckhead. The bistro is on Peachtree Road right in the middle of Buckhead and is surrounded by glass walls to overlook PT and has a wide open feel. Definitely a great place for a business meeting. I started by ordering the Escargot and a glass of Anne Amie Pinot Noir. The escargot were absolutely delicious. Rich in butter and garlic, fresh escargot and the pastry that tops each was perfectly crafted. For my entree, I decided on the Trout Meunière which comes over whipped potatoes. I cannot describe how expertly this dish was prepared. The Trout was fresh, cooked perfectly, the sauce was incredible, and the potatoes were insanely good. Well done!!! This is a review of first impressions and reception - I can't comment on the food because I'll never eat it. When we checked in for our reservation, I asked if we could sit outside because it's a nice day - sunny and 62 degrees. The waiter rolled his eyes, sighed, and shook his head while walking away. The hostess then asked if we'd like to sit outside and she also sighed. When my husband informed them that their response was rude they both became argumentative. If that's the first impression I'd rather keep my money in my pocket. Enjoyed a delicious dinner at Bistro Nikko. Bistro Nikko is located in the heart ofBuckhead off of Peachtree. The restaurant specializes in French cuisine as the name suggests, but they have simple classics as well. They also have an extensive wine menu which is great because their bar area is large and nice to hang out for people watching, a date, or enjoying a drink with friends. I ordered a cab and the duck medium rare per the chef's suggestion. The duck was cooked perfectly. I just wish there was more of it. It's paired with an orange/citrus sauce so if you don't like the citrus with your meal this may not be the dish for you. My dinner mate enjoyed the trout. Both were large portions. Parking is valet or self park(I paid $12 to self park for about 90-120 minutes). I recommend valet but the line was too long when I arrived. read more

It has the ambiance of Paris but with the boldness of an American experience. The wait staff is phenomenal and the amazing cuisine is the best. We went here twice in 48 hours because we needed to try more things on this awesome menu. The Hambuger with mushrooms is beyond wonderful and the Limon tart desert with sorbet is not to be missed. So this is another of those places that we really have always wanted to love but it always just fell short of the mark. Husband wanted to try it again after seeing something about it on the Atlanta restaurant channel or something so I made a reservation. I reminded him about past experiences and that we had always loved the idea but not the actual execution of anything there. Nevertheless he persisted so I made the reservation. We arrived at the designated time, 7:15 on a Saturday evening, and were seated immediately in their most quiet room, the salon. The entire room was full so it was still quite loud but it was tolerable. We're getting older and I'm (this is a ME thing) just getting to the point where I just can't stand yelling when we go out but I had asked for the most quiet place and they did their level best to get us what I asked for. Georgia was our server and DAMN, she is AWESOME! We have never had good service previously but Georgia just made up for the shortcomings of every other server we've ever had there. She absolutely knew every special and described them perfectly, made sure that everything was perfect and was just a delight. She let us in on the fact that she comes from a restaurant family and it is ABSOLUTELY evident in the way she took care of everyone who was hers. We started with a couple of snacks, a cocktail and a bottle of wine. Snacks were gougeres (think highbrow cheesy poofs - they're AMAZING!) and raclette (melted raclette cheese garnished with pickled mushrooms). I have always loved the gougeres there and this time they were even better than I had remembered. Crisp, light, cheesy and warm, they were the perfect accompaniment to cocktails. When the raclette hit the table I was ecstatic! Melted cheese with browned bits and bread to scoop it up with? Count me IN! We enjoyed our appetizers and cocktails and were never rushed. Oh yes, we also got a foie gras torchon that was served with toasted brioche and an apple compote that was to die for! (Hopefully not literally, come on Lipitor! ) It was just wonderful to be able to relax and cruise without being hammered with the nonsense that a lot of restaurants use today..."our chef requests that you order everything so that he/she can course everything out for you". I hate that BS. It's code for eat and leave asap so that I can turn this table. Georgia checked in on us several times and when we were ready she took our dinner orders. Steak frites for him, cassoulet (a special) for me. Steak was cooked perfectly, fries were HOT and the béarnaise sauce was on point. The steak was a bit livery tasting but it might have been a grass fed animal, but it was still fabulous. My cassoulet suffered from the fact that it had not had enough time to cook and meld. Cassoulet is a three day thing and this tasted as though it had been rushed into an 8 hour special type thing. The beans were VERY toothy ( think al dente but for beans. Really not the texture that cassoulet should be at all) but I realized what the issue was and by that point I was full of melted yummy cheese and foie gras so I was pretty much out of the game anyway and I can fix those beans at home when I reheat the rest of it. This was just an amazing evening with wonderful food and service! Georgia told us that she also works the bar so we will DEFINITELY be back to sit at her bar, carouse a bit and eat some great food. We went here on a Sunday afternoon with my boyfriend's family to celebrate their anniversary. The ambiance was great and they had live jazz as well. We were a large party and running a bit behind but they were accommodating and worked with us. I didn't take pictures of all the food as I normally would because I didn't want to make everyone wait but when I tell you - we devoured our food. All 6 of us enjoyed our meals so much that we literally were just passing around our plates. You know something is great when you WANT others to eat it too lol. It was late. We just got into town. They were closing, but we were welcomed in with open arms and treated to one of the best meals I've ever experienced. We started with the featured appetizer for the evening, duck sausage with lentils. The seasoning and presentation were perfect. Spot on flavors. For the main course I ordered the skate wing with spinach and steamed potatoes. The spinach was creamy, buttery, and tasted like they had been soaked for week in the sauce. Just a trace of bitter, simply amazing. The wing had a slight taste of fish with a soft chicken like texture. It was on par with the best fish I've ever eaten and I live near the coast. My wife had the Coq au vin. The mushrooms, potatoes and sauce were perfect. The chicken was tender and filled with flavor. Both our potatoes tasted like they had been grown in butter. You have to check them out if you are in the area. We felt bad about keeping them late so we skipped dessert. I'll be coming back for that. They looked astounding. Picked this restaurant for a team dinner. It was a really good choice. The atmosphere was a bit loud, but we were a group of 6, so quiet and intimate was not required. The menu looked wonderful! It was varied - the usual seafood, pork, beef, and chicken, but they kicked in lamb, duck, and escargot. I ordered the scallops. They were in a white sauce that was tasty and not too thick. Also, the scallops weren't over cooked. Nice and plump. The veggie was three asparagus spears; yes, I said three. Coulda used more asparagus. The starch was creamed potatoes. After making an Open Table reservation for Bistro Niko weeks ago, R and I came here last Thursday night to celebrate his birthday. Bistro Niko is a French restaurant on Peachtree Road in Buckhead. Valet parking is available, and, if you don't mind walking, there is self-parking available in the parking garage nearby. Self-parking turns out to be free if you get a parking voucher from the host station before you leave the restaurant. Parking is always available in the parking garage. We were greeted immediately by the host as we walked in, and promptly led to a table away from all other diners, which is what I wanted. Within 5 minutes, our server, Manny, came to the table and asked us if we wanted any drinks. Neither R nor I wanted any alcohol, so we asked for water. Manny asked if we wanted flat or sparkling water, adding that the sparkling water was also complementary. We opted for the sparkling water. When Manny brought the water glasses to our table, he asked if he could take our order. We both ordered the Caesar salad, which was brought to us within about 10 minutes. Before he left to put in our order with the kitchen, Manny explained that anchovies were included in the Caesar salad. I knew that the addition of anchovies actually made the salad a true Caesar, so it was fine with me. I just liked that Manny was very thorough, ensuring that there wouldn't be any culinary surprises for us. The Caesar salad was perfect! Everything, especially the white anchovy, blended together made for a delicious salad. The croutons were the airy toasted kind that were crunchy but not so hard that your jaws get a workout. After we were done with our salads and our plates taken away, Manny asked us if we wanted to order anything else, and we said yes. He let us know what the specials of the day were, but we already had our dinner entrees already figured out. R ordered the broiled hanger steak and pommes frites. I ordered the ribeye steak cafe and pommes frites. Both of us also got the béarnaise sauce on the side. I didn't keep track of the time it took for our entrees to arrive because we took the time to talk and people watch. This restaurant has a nice relaxed vibe going on. Our steaks came, and they were perfect! The doneness (medium rare), good beef and very little salt flavor, good fat marbling and being boneless all made for a very nice juicy tender ribeye. Even though The béarnaise sauce was a tasty enhancement to the steaks. A little bit of both steaks were brought home as leftovers, and I actually ate both of them. (lol). My palette confirmed that I had made the better choice of steak! To celebrate R's birthday, Manny brought a surprise dessert with a lit candle on it. It looked like three baked puffs cut in half, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream each between the halves. Sliced almonds and some type of chocolate sauce (semi-sweet) covered of it. I couldn't eat any more than one bite of mainly the ice cream because it was all too rich and sweet for me. R thoroughly enjoyed it! This restaurant could tighten up their facemark wearing policy for the customers by having them wear facemarks whenever they're walking through the restaurant. Many customers were without facemarks as they carried on their conversations while walking right by all those who were already seated at their tables. Also, some of the tables weren't six feet away from others, so social distancing guidelines weren't strictly adhered to. By the time we left, most of the tables had people sitting at them. Bistro Niko has great customer service. The managers came around to our table a couple of times to ask how everything was going. Manny did a great job as server. Thank you, Manny! read more

What a delightful discovery. I grew up in Atlanta but I've been gone for a long time. Back for a visit, I was recommended to visit the bistro and found it an absolutely divine delightful environment. The service was excellent, Jacob. Their French bread was very very good. I had the French onion soup, which was quite good as well. Everything we had was great quality and far above average. We started with steak tartare and the burrata and tomato salad. The tartare was tasty, not wow, but good. The salad had good flavor, but the burrata cheese was pretty much solid in the middle and not what I was expecting. Enjoyed the brunchie cocktails, very fresh and tasty. My kid enjoyed the Belgian waffles and drank every last sip of his hot chocolate. Definitely made his day. My mustard encrusted pork belly was outstanding (the kid at half of it and was almost sad that he didn't get it as his main). My husband got the eggs Norwegian. He said it was good but not memorable. Overall, an enjoyable meal and I'd like to check it out for dinner, since, in my experience, brunch is usually a little more harried and never the same quality as dinner is. I can only imagine that dinner is exceptional in comparison. The only minute drawback was the service was a little impersonal and cold. I don't hold it against them, as my husband is a little thuggy looking with a Mohawk and we've had people assume that we were bad tippers and wrote us off in the past. I figured there has to be something else at play here given the terrible service we received. Discrimination? Racism? Sure seems like it. I'm genuinely curious why a beautiful upscale establishment packed with diners 1) made us wait 45 mins for a table even though it was empty the whole time; 2) the table was unsteady and I brought their attention to it twice - it's not safe enough to balance a bowl of hot soup; 3) they messed up / forgot our orders; 4) it took AGES to get our food... like a good 35-40 mins or more of us just waiting to get anything to eat at all. We got the bread for the table AFTER our soups arrived, which were very late and lukewarm. Surely this isn't standard, otherwise all the wealthy white diners inside wouldn't be there. So what was it about us, three colleagues on a work trip visiting Atlanta for the very first time? What did we do wrong, and why not rectify it on the spot instead of treating us so poorly? One server (who wasn't ours) smiled and said "yeah that table is wobbly" and walked away when I flagged him down cause we couldn't seem to find anyone who listened. He knew what I was about to say before I said it. But he did nothing about it. It's such an aesthetically pleasing and festive restaurant inside. It's a real shame the staff looked down their noses at us, especially when some in my group weren't native English speakers. This is one of those awful experiences that stays with you. read more

Lovely French restaurant in the Buckhead area, just outside of Atlanta. I found this place simply by googling "best French restaurants Atlanta," glanced at the reviews and menu, and was pretty convinced that I'd have a great time. Coincidentally, when I told my friend that I was going to Atlanta, the first thing she mentioned was that her favorite French restaurant was this exact restaurant! I was so ecstatic to hear firsthand how amazing their escargot is! We arrived 15 minutes late because our flight coming in was late, but they were still able to seat us immediately, which we appreciated! What we got: - dozen fresh oysters: We got the sooo yummy! not too salty, and just the right sourness to the housemade mignonette - crisped duck leg confit (frisée salade, crisped duck potatoes): when they say CRISPED, they mean it!! The meat was still super tender, and the skin was soooo thin and crispy! However, the meat was too salty for us. It does mellow out with the small salad that it comes on top of, but I couldn't eat too much of it. - escargot "en croute" (herb garlic butter, puff pastry tops): As recommended, very delicious! I love escargot with puff pastries on top - honestly, I'm surprised that some places serve escargot by itself... But these were superb, and I'm so glad my friend highlighted this cherished menu item! - Maine sea scallops St. Jacques (asparagus, sorrel white wine nage): SOOO YUMMY! Highly recommend this entree. The white wine nage was subtle in taste, creamy, complements the soft juicy scallop pieces very well. - pan roasted duck breast (orange supremes, red cabbage, crisped duck potatoes, citrus duck jus): We're pretty picky on duck breast, and while the potatoes were a great touch, we thought that the meat was just.. okay. Tender, yes, but the skin wasn't as crispy as we'd wanted, and the citrus duck jus was a little overpowering in taste. - dessert: creme brulee a la vanille (vanilla custard, hard caramel crust) So we happen to be creme brulee fanatics, too... And we'd give this one a solid 4.5/5 - great caramelization, not too thick. The custard is the perfect sweetness and consistency, soft without being runny. We would have wanted a few berries and mint leaf on top, just for that citrus taste and for presentation purposes. But definitely hit the spot - drinks: not sure what it's called on the menu, but it was a spicy mezcal drink - super refreshing and definitely my kinda flavors! We also sipped a bottle of Chateau Greysac Medoc - we unfortunately didn't like it very much, but still enjoyed some sips with our entrees. Overall, a fantastic meal was had! Special thanks to our waiter, Aaron, who put our orders in in a timely manner such that our table was never empty. Better late than never as Bistro Niko is truly one of our Atlanta favorites. Obscenely great service and cuisine that parallels! We will review today beginning with the great beer and wine selection. Loved my Weihenstephan and Clarence had the St. Bernardus. It was in a small pour with a big dog bite! Crab Cake was full chunks of fresh crab with an amazing grain mustard Beaure blanc sauce that added a sweet yet tangy addition - best away from the beach. Add this to the Gruyere Cheese Puffs and heaven arrived early. Move over every Shephard's Pie- Dinner was the Veal Parmentier. Holy grail.... Osso Bucco so tender with mashed potatoes, carrots and a Gruyere Crust. Literally the most exquisite and soul warming dish I've ever eaten! Sadly we don't dine out as much in the winter but we will boot up every winter to enjoy this seasonal specialty. I could spout for another hour but no room for dessert! Billy, was excellent on menu guidance and the service at our table by the bat was nothing short of amazing. Food: Mom and I went for my birthday and we had the French onion soup, the escargot, chicken liver pate, and a mushroom truffle tarte. The French onion soup was delicious, the escargot was good but the garlic flavor was a little too sharp, the pate was good but a little bland, and the tarte was very tasty. I never lived through the the 40's, but read enough about it that I was sure to have walked into it. The decore was exquisite, filled with pockets of fun things to look at. Valet parking was provided, and food was not entirely out of reach when it came to ordering as you wished. Perhaps ordering drinks would make it just a bit higher in price. Space was grand which made it possible to not worry about bringing a party to the restaurant, yet there were different rooms with in the restaurant if you were thinking of having a quieter one on one meal. I am so happy I chose to have my birthday dinner at Bistro Niko. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating to my party of 8 the whole night. The parking is valet, as it is Buckhead, but it's only a $2 charge (gratuity not included). The venue itself is beautiful in my opinion, I love the dim romantic aspect of the restaurant and the string of lights throughout as well. From the time I walked in it seemed like the whole staff knew it was my birthday. The hostess informed us the table wasn't ready and directed is to the bar area. We waited for about 25 mins before we were seated, which was fine because some of my party showed up late. After we were seated out waiter Nikki came right over to get our drink order. He was amazing, funny and absolutely fabulous & if you have a large party ask for him! Also he made great recommendations. Being that it was my birthday I felt daring and wanted to try the Escargot. Turns it wasn't all that daring as they taste just like some buttery and delicious clams. The little flake roll on top really complimented the appetizer. Bistro Niko really changed my opinion of French cuisine, everything sounds delicious, but for my entreé I knew I was getting the scallops, they looked great in the pics and tasted even better in person. I got them without tomatoes. They were cooked perfectly abd the mash potatoes were so creamy abd decadent paired very well. I tried my friend's lamb chops and omg they were amazing especially with the sauce it came with. I am definitely going to be going back to Bistro Niko, I can't wait to try a different dish. Since the weather is getting nice it would be fabulous to sit in the patio and enjoy a glass of rosé too. read more
