I came in here on a Saturday afternoon, there wasn't many ppl and they weren't cooking any of the pizzas in the brick oven. They just put it in this little machine from this old pizza chain back in the day that has a little belt; the pizza goes on, gets heated and rolls right out. That old pizza chain went out of business just like Quizno's. It's crap! So not sure if they just stopped using the oven all together even though it was on or whatever reason it is. Terrible customer service. Better pizza choices in Pasadena. This joint needs to get out. If they make a mistake on your delivery order, your time will be wasted. Someone over the phone told me to go into their pizza joint and that they'll have my name down to come pick up the correct order. I go in person as instructed. I did not get a name from that employee and the "mgr" Angel G gave me a difficult time, spoke in a condescending manner, very unprofessionally not honoring what his employee told me. Get rid of Angel G. He alleged that I requested a refund, which I didn't. I told him, "Why else would I be there in person if I requested a refund?" He then said we don't do that and if I wanted a pizza that I could have one if I paid for it, with a grimace. Unprofessional establishment. I said how can I verify that a refund was issued, most places just give a complimentary pizza for the inconvenience your company caused? I don't typically leave reviews, especially for fast food restaurants, but my recent visits have been some of the worst experiences I've ever had at any establishment. The young man with visible tattoos, who I believe is named Will (based on what his coworkers have said), consistently appears disinterested and disengaged. He never offers a friendly greeting and provides noticeably poor customer service, making each visit uncomfortable and frustrating. I cane here last night after volunteering at Pasadena Playhouse. I was excited that there was a place open. There was one woman ahead of me. I stood next to her. No one said a word to me. Staff was moving slowly as they seemed unprepared for the theatre crowd to show up. After standing for a while, someone finally took my order. I ordered the November special - Chicken Parm Pizza and a side salad. I specifically told them very well done. Burn it. She told me to tell the person making my pizza. I told the person making it very well done. I paid and waited. My pizza came up quickly and it was cold and on the raw side. The sauce was cold. It was not well done at all. Like anything that starts out great, this place is really slowly going downhill. 2 topping and a soda $15 bucks. Not cheap but not that pricy for what you get. However when they started you could requests a little extta on a topping or extra cheese and now they charge extra for that according to their staff. A customer in front of me was asking questions about cross contamination. She may have had allergies and the worker didn't even care. Last week I visited the La Canada location and they said if you do a large 2 topping with Pepperoni and request 1/2 with black olives and the other half with Kalamata Olives it would go from 2 topping to Build your own? My son ordered meatballs for dinner via curbside pickup. We get home and there's a hair in his meatballs! Gross and unsanitary! To start off, I'm not one to draft a negative review about a business, but decided that something needed to be said about this place. Our family frequents this location the most. We have had always a good experience here & have had nothing bad to say about the food & service. This interaction happened on Sunday, August 24, at 5PM. We arrived at the counter & with no one else in line, we ordered the family meal with 3 pizzas. The employee with a short beard & tattoos on both forearms was helping us out & it already almost felt so completely rushed & unprofessional. I, as a fellow service worker, I understand the day to day grind working with customers & unique requests. But even before we started to order, he straight up just says "yeah, just to let you know it's going to be up to 7 toppings." From the first time visiting Blaze EVER up to the very last time which must've been a month ago, one of our favourite reasons to visit, was that we had unlimited choices to add to our BUILD YOUR OWN PIZZAS. When we were told this, my family & I were very confused by this change, & asked when did they implement this change, the employee responded "it's always been like that forever." If you're going to lie & talk to customers who have been going to your business, at least come up with a more professional & polite way to say it. At least give me a BS reason, i.e "corporate wants us to limit it, we're trying to save food waste, etc." The employee gave us absolutely no explanation behind it & also didn't even try to just let it slide this time & go beyond to fulfill the request. Then when we sat down, I watched him then interact with other customers, he chatted with a newly clocked in coworker on the pizza line, & had to whisper to him that "there's a 7 topping limit." SO, I've already filled out that customer service survey on the receipt & I've said my peace there. But felt the need to explain my experience here to inform others who may have had similar experience with this particular employee. Make it a storewide policy, make it known on the menu that you're limited to 7 toppings, charge extra for it, put it around the store so customers aren't taken by surprise that you're going to get limited when you order. This probably isn't something that I should stress about but these are instances that need to be addressed & I'd be okay if we got a proper explanation & just better customer service. We got none of that. We visit Blaze because there's a standard that we believe they have kept up throughout the years that they have been operating, I don't want one bad apple ruining the experience for someone else. I don't expect any refund or some reply that I should email or talk to customer service. Simply get everyone on the same page, communicate, & just provide a good experience moving forward. All other Blaze locations I've been to you can pick whatever toppings you want and never had a problem, also if you order online you can pick as many toppings as you want. Well not at this location the young guy at the counter asked me what will my one topping will be and I said it supposed to be any toppings, he said no only 1. This is the second time I have been to this Blaze Pizza and felt the discrimination from the same manager Angel P. The first time I went a few weeks ago and he took our order. We ordered the Family Special and instead of letting us look and pick the items he wanted to punch it all in the order. This has never been done before at any Blaze Pizza location that I have visited. Then last week, my family and I, who are Asian, went to order the same special again. It was at this time that the same manager Angel said that we were limited to 7 toppings and that was a new policy. When I asked the employee making our pizza he shrugged his head and said he had never heard about this policy before. When we ate, my wife looked at the line and never heard him utter this phrase again. The pizza here is perfect thin-crust, sauces and topping choices are great, price is reasonable, and employees are always friendly. I'm not sure what brand of vegan cheese they use, but it melts perfectly. Plus, you can get a boatload of veggies on your pizza and it's all one price. I didn't recall seeing any TVs, but music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Blaze Fast Fired Pizza Pasadena location filled a need at a moment in time and satisfied any expectations. The food was very good, the service friendly and efficient, and the prices comparable. Although they had a small alcohol selection, it was a shame they didn't have any TVs for more of a sports bar atmosphere thus possible an increase in sales. A perfect thin crust, your own choices of toppings, and no judgment from the staff when you choose things that seemingly may not go together as naturally as PB&J. The spicy red sauce is wonderful as a base. The selection of cheeses is top notch. Their veggies are always fresh and perfectly cooked. And they have really mastered the rotation in their piping hot oven in a way I doubt I ever will. Blaze is also very supportive of the local community - I've gone during various fundraising efforts, and I've been so pleased that they are committed to giving back. They let you add as many toppings as you want though, so you can definitely make the most loaded pizza and have a huge meal for about $10-12. They recommended their new fiery maple drizzle, which was delicious. I also got the seasonal butternut squash, which didn't really have much flavor. I appreciate that you can get as many sauces as you want though, and they also let you get ranch on the side to dip your pizza with. The service was also super friendly and they made sure you added everything you wanted to your pizza! Download their app for a free drink as well. It did take a while for my pizza to be made, even though there were hardly any people there upon my arrival, and some people already had their food. But, other than that, a good experience. I love building my own pizza, that way, it tastes just the way I want it to, every time. One thing I will say, as someone who worked at a pizza shoppe for three years of my life... more toppings! If you have severe allergies, I wouldn't recommend coming here. The cross contamination is WILD. Toppings touching other toppings. Their prep station was a mess and not clean at all. Not a single glove was changed when handling multiple pizzas. This girl was touching a screen with gloves on and then touched food and toppings with the same gloves.
