This was probably the best coffee I have ever had. I have the Vietnamese Latte and it was amazing I honestly could not stop eating "mmmm" after every sip and I am PICKY about my coffee. The matcha was insane. Cute little grab and go spot. I didn't try the food but will try it next time we are in California because we will stop there again. Service was friendly and it was quick. Also this shopping center is adorable, lots of shops to walk around and enjoy your delicious coffee. read more

Love coming to blk dot especially in Newport but there's a very rude barista who works at this location. I don't know her name but she did have blond hair & I believe it was in a ponytail. Don't ever write bad reviews ever but she was speaking to someone behind her during our interaction, I asked her recommendation for something new & she just stared at me with a blank face kinda rude whatever, I tipped her still thinking her day could be better. I'm standing there waiting for my coffee she brings it out didn't ask or say my name nor say the name of the coffee, I assumed it's my coffee since I was only the few people in there. im a fan of blk dot coffee. this is the closest location to me. just finished a yoga class and this girl needs coffee not matcha lol my go to here is actually their iced teas, but again i needed some coffee. i ordered the iced tiramisu latte einspanner. it wasnt as sweet or tasted like tiramisu, but it was still a good latte. but will stick to ordering my normal iced lychee peach green tea service was good. the drinks tho, were coming out a bit slow and out of order .. parking: no issues with parking. huge lot read more

Not my favorite BlkDot. I have been to a couple different ones and although it was clean and the staff was friendly, the coffee itself wasn't that great tasting. I got the iced VTM that I normally get, but this one tasted burned or strange. My wife got the VTM chai and it had a similar problem with taste. Maybe a bad day, but the drinks were not really drinkable. read more

Yuzu Mango Matcha - I'd rate it a 6.5/10. I personally liked the yuzu pieces and mango (syrup?) at the bottom. As a matcha enjoyer, the yuzu pieces were super unique and I felt like they were very fresh. Really good price too for the larger size we got (~$7.25) but I did think it was very sweet. Iced Vietnamese Coffee - My dad who drinks Viet coffee a lot rated it a 7/10 just because he thought it wasn't strong. Take that with a grain of salt though; he's from Vietnam and knows his Viet coffee lol read more

I've only ever ordered their Avocado Toast and Light Vietnamese Latte, but every time it's so damn good that I just had to write this review. I don't know exactly how to describe the latte, but it's got that perfect flavor, texture, and temperature that I always hope for when I order a latte. The Avocado Toast always has the perfect amount of seasoning, and the toast is always both perfectly crunchy yet light and fluffy so it doesn't scratch up my mouth. Today while eating and drinking my order, I couldn't help but say "mmm" the whole meal. Luckily I live by myself so I could make a fool of myself over it, haha. read more

Black Dot Coffee has become a regular part of my morning routine--I absolutely love going there. I usually order the VT Matcha, and it's honestly one of the best drinks I've had. It's the perfect blend of matcha and Vietnamese coffee--smooth, strong, and just the right balance of earthy and bold flavors. Sometimes I'll add an extra shot if I want that extra kick, and it never disappoints. Even when it's busy (which it often is), it's totally worth the wait. When I came in, the cashier (with braces, and bad eyeliner) was terse, dismissive and un-engaging. Me: hi how are you? Her: what do you want?": Me: oh... I guess just an iced vanilla latte with almond milk, please Me: okay, your total -- Me: I actually also wanted a bagel Her: -sigh- Then while waiting my order, the barista makes my drink wrong, doesn't add enough ice as if it's coming out of her paycheck. I come here to charge and get coffee but their customer service is horrible.... I've been here a few times now to give them multiple tries but the cashier just gives attitude all the time. If you hate your job that much, work elsewhere. The coffee is just ok, not the greatest but there are so many coffee shops opening up everywhere which means we have options.... You want to give good service so that the customer wants to come back imo. If I were the owner I would def change that real quick!! read more

There was only one or two customers before us so they took our order quickly and helped me decipher some of the different latte drinks they had. I ordered a tomato avocado toast and confirmed I was getting that one instead of the hot honey bacon. When they called our order I realized they had given me a hot honey bacon toast instead so I went to ask them for the correct order and I feel like the guy who worked there was being defensive and slightly rude instead of apologizing / acknowledging the mistake and just correcting the order. I also said I can't eat the avocado and hot honey due to a flowery restriction so I wanted to confirm they would give me a completely new slice of toast and not just change the toast topping and he said yes. But then they ended up putting my corrected toast in the same box which I noticed because when I was eating it there was some honey on the bottom of the box.. luckily it didn't touch my toast so it was fine but I just thought the whole situation could have been handled better. The toast did taste good and so did my latte but lost one star due to the customer service. read more

The service here has been mixed for me. I have had staff that have openly greeted me and others who appeared to be inconvenienced at my arrival. The price point on the food is REALLY high (e.i. $11+ for a bagel sandwich) but the drinks are around the expected inflated price. I think the one thing that rubbed me through wrong way about this place was the way they handled a situation where I arrived with my dog. No signage indicates that dogs aren't allowed and there have been times where he was welcome and other times where the staff was very rude about it. Overall, it's just another overpriced coffee shop and know it's (not usually) dog-friendly. read more

Such a convenient spot to get coffee while charging my car. Unfortunately, everytime I come the employees are so rude. They seem bothered by any questions asked about the menu or drinks. Never smile. The atmosphere is so unwelcoming that it makes you not want to come back. Please work on your customer service. First time here I came for strawberry lychee jasmine tea but they didn't have it, got the lychee peach black tea but instead of peach I added strawberry, it was delicious and lastly our hot honey avocado toast got stolen. We got our drinks and went outside to took a photos, 3 min passed by and realize we didn't get out toast, went back inside and realized someone took our food, lucky the girl made us a new one... people should be shameless of themselve, taking other food !!!! read more

Stopped by here for a lunch break nearby and got a black VTM with some added coffee jelly. The rich, bold flavor of the coffee and the added milk was wonderful, and the addition of coffee jelly added a delightful twist. The jelly, a welcome departure from traditional coffee accompaniments, offered a unique textural experience that elevated the overall enjoyment of the beverage with a little bit of a bitter coffee hint to it. While picking up some items at Trader Joe's next door, I decided to grab some coffee here. I usually only drink hot coffee drinks but for some reason I was in the mood for something cold. I ordered an iced Spanish latte. My main complaint about iced coffee drinks is that they always have far too much ice. This was no exception but it was a nice blend of bold coffee, condensed milk, and the perfect amount of cinnamon. The barista was exceptionally perky and made my drink very quickly. There is no seating inside this tiny place but there's several patio tables out in front of the store. With the cup over half full of ice my drink was finished in a couple minutes but it was really quite good. read more

Unique and delicious teas combo's and coffee. I had a passion fruit tea minus the boba. It was pretty good. The staff was super cool and the orders came out fairly quickly. There is no indoor seating, just a table or two outside. They have light sandwiches and such. Nothing too major, just things to go with your drinks. Pretty neat spot. read more

Located on 2nd & PCH, near the Trader Joe's, this cute little coffee shop serves Vietnamese coffee, teas, and pastries, with milk alternatives. I got: - Spiced honey oat latte (comes with oat milk): A nice spiced kick with a touch of sweetness. I'm excited to come back and try other flavours on their menu, especially their hot teas. - Orange scone: Wasn't too dry or cloyingly sweet, so I think I've found my go-to scone place when I'm nearby. They ask if you want your pastry heated up (which is something I always appreciate and prefer), so I had a very nice warmed up scone to eat. There's limited seating inside and a few tables on the patio for outdoor dining; with quick and friendly service, you shouldn't be waiting more than 5 minutes for your fresh drink. None of the baristas made me feel rushed in any way and made sure to announce my name/drink/food when it was ready. It's airy and open inside, with two doors for entrance/exit, and I felt it was handicap accesible with the height of the counter. There's definitely plenty of parking, although you may have to park off to the side depending on when you come due to the Trader Joe's nearby. Overall, I'd recommend going here - it's worth it especially if you're in the area and are looking for a good coffeehouse to pick-up from and walk around the area. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my coffee from Blk Dot. I got the Iced Chocolate Cereal VTM Latte and it tasted like the milk after you've eaten Cocoa Puffs! It has the coffee taste but also the sweetness of chocolate but did not taste like a mocha which I loved! They have the drink nailed to perfection. They also have WiFi but no indoor seating just outside tables and chairs. I do have to say that it is a little on the pricier side for some coffee and the menu is so small to read!! They definitely need a bigger menu or a menu to look at it when you go up to the counter. The person who took my order was very friendly and my cofffee was made very promptly. read more

They also give you menus while you wait so you can decide what you want ahead of time. We arrived at 10:30am and our wait was about 30 minutes so by the time we were able to order at 11am, the lunch menu was also available. I ordered the tater tots, Cinnagave Shaken Espresso, Dutch Baby Pancake and country sourdough toast with jam. With tax and tip, my total came out to around $40. It's definitely pricier than what I normally pay for breakfast. Most entrées range from $17-$34 and coffees are around $5-$10, so you can easily spend $30+ for one person. In these hard times, that's not exactly ideal for me. I also wanted to try a pastry to get the full experience, but when I found out the small blackberry danish was $7, I decided to pass. I just couldn't justify getting that close to $50 for breakfast for one person. Now for the food! The country sourdough toast with jam was actually my favorite item. The homemade sourdough was incredible and honestly deserves its roses. It sounds like such a simple thing, but it was so well done and easily the standout for me. Visually, the Dutch Baby Pancake was beautiful and definitely impressive when it came out. I've always wanted to try one, so I was excited! I will say, I've read everywhere that Dutch babies are supposed to have more of a custardy center and even the photos I've seen look that way. Mine didn't really have that texture at all and tasted more like a crepe. Maybe it was a little overcooked? It wasn't bad, just not quite what I expected. Still delicious! Unfortunately, the tater tots were the biggest disappointment. They weren't crispy, didn't taste seasoned and sort of fell apart until they became one big potato mess. My cousins and I ended up not finishing them. One of my cousins ordered the summer peach and corn salad, which she liked! Just a heads-up that it's only available after 11 a.m. My other cousin got the skillet, she mentioned feeling a little disappointed since it tasted a little dry and didn't finish her plate. However they both ordered the Curious George drink and LOVED it! The Cinnagave Shaken Espresso was also fantastic. Coffee is definitely something they do very well here and I can see myself getting again. Overall, the aesthetics are adorable and I could see this being a great date spot. The coffee was fantastic, the sourdough was amazing, but the rest of the food was just okay for us. That was a little disappointing because everything sounds SO good on paper. Maybe we just caught them on an off day. The prices are probably the biggest thing holding me back from coming back regularly. Spending $30-$40+ per person for breakfast isn't really in my budget right now, but if this is within your price range, you may have a completely different experience. When I review a place, I try to take the overall experience, personal taste and effort into account. For now, I'm leaving Zuzu's Petals at 4 stars because the effort is definitely there, and what isn't my cup of tea may be someone else's liquid gold. The Nashville wings are the star of the show. I cannot stress this enough, this is worth a DRIVE for. The seasoning really does remind you of Howlin' Rays (the highest compliment) and the chicken is extremely crispy yet insanely juicy. The pickles and ranch that it comes with pairs so well. Do note that they are tossing it in pork fat, which enhances the depth but also makes it a little greasy at the end. I also wished they'd warn you this and offer to order it without it; especially for those who don't eat pork or for those trying to cut some calories. There's a happy hour menu too!!! So you can get drinks and food even cheaper. I cannot stop thinking about this place. It's such a sleeper. Head to Midnight Oil after a visit to continue your night.

I've visited this location multiple times and generally had a good experience, but this visit was disappointing. I arrived around 8:30 am, and while the service was fine, it wasn't remarkable. I ordered a Vietnamese coffee, a light Vietnamese coffee, and two iced matcha lattes with oat milk. The regular Vietnamese coffee was decent, though a bit too sweet. However, the light version had no sugar at all, which seemed like a mistake. The matcha lattes were also unsweetened, which I didn't realize until later. I wish the staff had mentioned this, as many people prefer some sweetness in their drinks. Overall, I felt like I wasted my money and time. I might have been better off going elsewhere if I was going to spend $6-7 per drink. read more

I was searching for a coffee shop in the area and my GPS took me to this Coffee shop. I was warmly greeted upon entrance and provided recommendations for both drinks and lunch, which I promptly ordered. Both were beyond my expectations with the coffee being perfectly warmed to temperature and delighted my taste buds, as well as an amazing sandwich prepared before my eyes, and it was so fulfilling and tasty. I recently tried the Ice Vietnamese Einspanner coffee at Blk Dot Coffee, and it was absolutely delightful! I work remote, that means I have traveled all over california trying coffee places as I see them in the morning. This place was amazing, great service and they are pretty fast at popping the drinks out. I ordered the eh I think it was called VT black ice coffee, regular. I could tell they use a cookie butter flavored syrup rather than a natural cookie butter. The espresso shots tasted good, but it was overpowered by the syrup. My friend ordered the Banana Foam Latte. She also thought her drink was sweet. The banana foam tasted good, but it disappeared within 10 min. Pricing: Prices are more than average, but I'm not surprised considering they're located on a popular street.

The biscuit itself is small, probably the size of a Pillsbury dough biscuit, and the chicken wasn't much bigger. nothing else on it like a green, coleslaw, sauce, etc. just these two items. However, it did come with a side of a honey butter. the side of fruit was about 8 pieces split between pineapple, melon, and grapes. the whole sandwich was dry, which can be expected from a biscuit, but this was just too dry for me. the yogurt bowl($8) came in a small bowl that had a large flaring, basically the entire dish was large but the bowl portion was small. I eat yogurt everyday and the amount you get is probably half the size of a standard serving of yogurt (170g) and it was sparsely sprinkled with granola. my partner ordered a chorizo burrito ($15) and while she raved about the flavor the size of it was laughable, especially considering there are plenty of spots in LB that serve double or even triple the size of this burrito at or near the same price lastly, and the most disappointing of all, was the cinnamon roll($8). they were on display at the register and figured yeah I want one of those and instead of giving it to me right then and there it was brought with the rest of the food but it was not warmed up, which made me question why I waited for it. It was rool temp, burnt, and hard. I do want to try other items but the price you pay for what you get, especially considering this experience I had, is off putting.

Eco Coffee can be easy to miss because of small location, easiest way to find it is remembering it's right after the intersection of E Carson St and N Bellflower Blvd. It's also across the street from the Ruth Bach Public Library. There are two small lots that can get full as it shares it with other businesses. Stepping in there's various decoration from the 101 highway sign in the back, a bookshelf lined with books, also help condiments and napkins, and art pieces on the wall behind the counter. The barista (maybe the owners too) were fantastic, with energy given to every customer that came to the counter (cheering after seeing I was recording haha). There's a couple of tables for seating as well as a couch near the back wall, next to the restroom. The menu was pretty standard, with some specialty drinks and other specials taped to the wall behind the counter. My bf ordered a caramel blended latte with an extra shot of espresso and at the time we went, I order a date smoothie. Both drinks were amazing, the latte was icy and nice and strong, with just the right amount of sweetness. I've never had a date smoothie nor one like this. It's blended with cold brew, oat milk, dates, and some other ingredients I can't remember. But it was creamy, chewy from the little bits of dates that weren't blended, espresso. It's a pretty large smoothie than can definitely be split between people, it's also very filling. Such an awesome gem in Long Beach, and the staff are friendly and super welcoming. Carmen's Coffee Company is a Long Beach food truck serving up caffeinated beverages and pastries. Each Saturday they pop up at the local Naples carwash and offer takeout for the locals. I ordered the iced lemon meringue latte. A dessert style latte, topped with lemon cold foam. The drink was yummy, but tasted more like syrup than espresso. When I got home I added an extra espresso shot and it did the trick. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu! I might just avoid the more dessert like drinks.

The baristas behind the counter were incredibly friendly, and one of the longtime employees seemed to know all of the regulars by name. As I sat and enjoyed my coffee, it was great to watch the genuine connections she had with customers. That personal touch is something you don't see everywhere anymore. The interior has a unique charm, with a wide variety of coffee blends on display and plenty of breakfast options to choose from. It has the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer and could easily become part of your regular routine. Years ago, I received a gift card from Steelhead Coffee, but never made it a point to stop by any…read moreof their locations since there are much more coffee shops closer to me. I was planning a rare visit to the oceanfront, and along the way stood Steelhead on Broadway. Steelhead on Broadway is located on Broadway (duh! lol) and Redondo on the southwest corner of the intersection. It's in the very corner of the building next to Flamin' Curry and Baddeley's Pourhouse Sports Bar. When I came in, I was greeted by the barista, Ruben, who was busy making drinks for the steady flow of customers. His co-worker, Jacob, was at the register taking orders, fielding questions, and just making friendly conversation with the clientele. There isn't much standing room in front of the counter, so when there was another customer standing by the wall, I thought it was her turn to order until she mentioned she was clueless on what drink(s) to get. I was clueless as well, so I used the opportunity to ask Jacob a handful of questions like what the drink sizes looked like, what the Aerocano was, and what Cortado was. Jacob answered my questions with ease and well enough that I was sold on the Aerocano. Some of the drinks on the menu are offered in two or even three sizes, but the Aerocano is one of the drinks that only comes in one size, 12 oz in this case. Interestingly enough, the back of my gift card listed Steelhead Coffee's other two locations, but not this one, so I wasn't sure if my gift card would work here. Sure enough, it did, but after paying, the tablet mentioned I could earn 50 points for putting in my phone number. I wanted to ask about their rewards program, but before Jacob could finish answering, the tablet went to a different screen. Unfortunately, there was no way for Jacob to go back and retroactively apply my phone number to the last order. I probably would have been interested in joining the rewards program, but this stroke of bad luck was enough to deter me from joining. While all that was going on, Ruben prepared my Aerocano so fast that I didn't have to wait any longer to start sipping on the drink, which is pretty much a black coffee and doesn't come with cream or sugar. There was quite a bit of foam on top of the Aerocano, which was a little more than I preferred. Also, even though I was told ahead of time it'd be in a 12 oz cup, I still felt I could have used a little more drink and a little less ice for the price point, which I'd still say is reasonable for a quick pick-me-up. Jacob was very friendly and helpful! If I rated them based on service alone, it'd be an easy 5. I even witnessed him making friendly conversation with other customers, likely regulars. As I went up to take a second look at the menu, he asked if I liked the Aerocano, to which I replied "not too shabby". I think he also mentioned that he was willing to remake the drink if something went awry, but I was satisfied with the taste of the Aerocano drink overall. While I'm not a coffee connoisseur by any means, I don't think the Aerocano was that much different than a traditional Americano; like there are some subtle nuances between the two drinks that I wouldn't be able to describe, but I'm sure the connoisseurs could. Ruben was friendly too, greeting me as I entered through the front door. I did witness him crossing Redondo while I was enjoying my Aerocano, leaving Jacob as the lone barista in the shop for just a few minutes. But even on a Sunday afternoon, it wasn't that busy that they could afford to take breaks like that. Inside the coffee shop, they have four round tables, each of which could seat two, as well as a couple of bar-style tables by the window. Between these bar-style tables is a small refrigerator of grab & go drinks like Olipop and Harmless Harvest. There are also five shelves of merch next to one of these tables, and I'm assuming this merch is for sale. They also have four two-seater tables outside if you prefer to sip your coffee/tea al fresco. They also serve some baked goods here. While I was placing my order, Jacob asked if I'd like any, but I didn't see any price tags on them. I was curious how much they cost, and he estimated between $4 and $8. I had just eaten a rather large lunch, so I passed on the baked goods. I also saw a couple of customers come in with their dogs, so they seem to be friendly to dogs as well. Parking was anything but easy. They don't have a parking lot in the immediate vicinity, so I had to circle around a few neighboring blocks before I found a spot on 1st St. I probably won't make a return visit since I don't find myself in this part of town as often, but if you do live nearby, I highly recommend patronizing Steelhead Coffee for a quick pick-me-up. I still have a remaining balance on my gift card, so I'll be looking forward to exhausting the remaining funds at the other two locations. Recommended!
