I came to Blue Line for their Grand Opening (day after soft opening) and enjoyed a casual, tasty, filling dinner. Blue Line does a very good job replicating the Chicago style of deep dish pizza. From the cornmeal crust to the chunky tomato sauce on top, Chicago transplants and the like will feel at home. The pizza menu isn't extensive, but with the ability to create your own pizza, Blue Line leaves it up for the customer to decide. I ordered the Classic (Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green bell peppers) and found the traditional combination of those ingredients satisfying. The spices in the Italian sausage carried most of the flavor profile of the pizza as a whole. The tomato sauce was fresh and the proper consistency, although I wish more oregano/spice would have been added. Since deep dish carries a lot of sauce, a mild flavor like tomatoes kind of makes the rest of the pizza a conservative experience. I'll also add that the cornmeal crust was delicious and not overwhelming with butter -- and that the cheese was high quality. A 9 inch deep dish pizza easily feeds 2 hungry people, so keep that in mind. I also started my dinner with the roasted shishito peppers and a mixed greens salad. The peppers were tender and roasted the right amount of time. That said, although I'm not a salt fiend, I found them under-salted/lacking a little more olive oil. It was a good dish nonetheless. The organic mixed greens were very good, as were the toasted walnuts. The service was excellent and very friendly from the moment I walked in. Blue Line's not too well lit, but don't let that come off as an unwelcoming environment. It's low-key, good quality, and a very good value. Under $10 a person for large quantities of good pizza...not to mention a great selection of craft beer (Goose Island included!) between $4-5 a pop. Overall, Blue Line's a good fit for downtown Mountain View and, although there's a little bit of Grand Opening kinks to work out, I'm sure if will provide many filling and fun experiences for its crowds. read more

I am absolutely in love with the thin crust white pie pizza at blueline. It had a garlic infused olive oil creamy sauce, cheese and it's topped with zucchini, tomatoes and feta cheese. The cheese is nice and thick. The crust is made with cornmeal or something similar and it's light and crunchy. I normally go for pizzas that have way more toppings so it's odd that I am so crazy about this one. It's so simple yet packed with flavor. I ordered this for curb side pick up which was a little hard to find since you can only enter to the back from one side of Castro. A large thin crust white pie was about $24-$25 which is a bit steep, but I totally think it's worth it if you want to spend a little more for some quality pizza. read more

By the way, the deep dish takes 30 minutes to bake, so best be patient. On my second visit, my friend and I ordered a small BBQ chicken thin crust and small mixed salad to share. Per our waitress, the small thin crust feeds 1 to 2 persons so she recommended an appetizer/salad. In retrospect, one small thin crust was plenty to share between two people for dinner. We ordered the salad anyways because we didn't want to look cheap (didn't help that we were both asian). The BBQ chicken pizza had around 8 slices. The thin crust was very crispy and crunchy. It had slightly too much BBQ sauce which became overwhelming after the 3rd or 4th slice. Overall, it was a good pizza though the cheese could've been more "ooey gooey." The mixed salad was pleasantly refreshing! Mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, red bells, red onions, Gorgonzola cheese, and walnuts in a vinaigrette sauce. Perfect to share between two people or dinner for one. This restaurant has plenty of options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free eaters. When I rolled up on fri there were a number of empty tables. They still made me put my name on a list and said it was a 20 min wait, then we were seated within 7 min amongst more empty tables. Hmm. It was nice to sit outdoors and good engineer watching time lol. I really liked the deep dish homemade crust. Pizzas came out a little quicker than the 30 min. This is consistently one of our favorite pizza places. We love their thin crust pizzas, especially the margarita which has a perfectly balanced sauce of tart and sweetness. This is a really nice hangout spot! They gave outdoor seating and some seats inside. We sat outside and it was a beautuful day in Mountain View. My coworkers called me after work and it was definitely a good call. We ordered appetizers and drinks and they came out super quick. The spicy chicken wings are really hot, but they're tasty, dip them in ranch if you can't deal with the heat. The deep dish pepperoni pizza with sausage was off the chain! The sauces was soooo good & the toppings were fresh. I will go back for more soon! We ordered a deep dish small for two people and we could finish it all. What an awesome place! We came in on a Saturday night. They seated us within 30 minutes and our waitress, Liz, was super helpful and made great suggestions (thanks Liz!) We ordered 2 pizzas and both were extremely delicious and a great value. Ingredients were really fresh, and good portion size. They didn't overdo it on the tomato sauce either, so you can really taste the toppings and crust. I recommend the White Pie pizza with a lot of toppings (they are generous). Rating for curbside take out experience: I had ordered a pizza for take out online and was given an hour wait. I've had previous experiences here and they typically say the wait will be about 30-40 minutes and then have us wait another 10 when we're there. I figured an hour would be plenty and the pizza would be ready on time. I had chosen the curbside option since Castro is super crazy on weekend evenings and parking would be impossible. When I called in to notify the staff I had arrived for curbside pick up, I was immediately put on hold. After 5 minutes of being on hold, I was then disconnected. I tried calling back but i just got the busy tone. How are you going to ask people to call in for curbside pickup if your phone can't handle multiple lines?! My husband had to go in and ask for our pizza directly since they were unreachable by phone and no one was around to help all the curbside and doordash people waiting outside. He said that it was a sh*t show with the staff running past him or avoiding eye contact because they were all too busy to help him. After another 20 minutes, he finally got someone to basically shove our pizza in his hands and moved on to the next person without any apology or acknowledgement. He couldn't get a word in to even confirm the pizza order or express his dissatisfaction. When we finally got our lukewarm pizza home, they had messed up the order. We had ordered a deep dish pizza with 2 different toppings on each side. To add insult to injury, they'd only given us 1 topping on each side and basically overcharged us $5 on a $25 order. This could've easily been prevented if they'd taken the time to treat the customers like people and take the time to confirm the order. The pizza's good but there are so many great pizza options just on Castro alone and the greater Mountain View area that I don't really need to tolerate rudeness, incompetence and a 25% overcharge. read more

I came here for dinner with some friends, and we were seated right away. We decided to order a deep dish large pizza with pepperoni. The server told us it would take 30 minutes for them to make it. It was definitely worth the wait! The pizza was so tasty and the crust was amazing! There was a decent amount of cheese and pepperoni. I loved how there was a lot of sauce on top of the pizza, too. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try other types of pizza. I saw other customers order the Thin Crust pizza which also looked good. read more

This place was A-OK. Not the best ZA I've eaten, but 3 stars worthy. Details below. Ambiance, smallish but good flow through the tables. Nice enough staff, even though our poor bus boy was dripping (literally) sweat. Our waitress was witty and fun. At one point they had on some really terrible and loud house music and I couldn't hear anyone at my table. The place echoes during lunch, so it's super loud. They eventually turned off the noise and it was better. SPICY MEATBALLS: Yea these were good. Not Ikea good, but still yummy. Good table appetizer. GARLIC BREAD: Not what I was expecting. It was more like cheesy pizza crust with marinara dipping sauce. Pretty good though. BLUE LINE MARGHERITA: It came to the table lickety-split. It had whole cloves of roasted garlic on it - I didn't mind this but I'm sure my breath was awful and I was expecting a stronger garlic flavor from the roasting. It was cut in the most bizarre fashion that I ended up having to use a knife and fork to eat it. Think HUGE square pieces and corresponding small triangle pieces. Wut? Food: Half Caesar Salad- 5/5 This is enough to feed 2-3 people. They make their own croutons which are delicious and perfectly seasoned! They also do not skimp on chicken when you add it to the order. One suggestion would be, to cut the pieces a bit smaller so that the chunks aren't overwhelming. Blue Line Pizza is one of my favorite pizza chains. They have quality pizzas that are made with fresh ingredients. I'm not a fan of dominos, round table, Pizza Hut, and etc because they are often too greasy for me. Blue Line Pizza has better ingredients that doesn't make me feel gross after eating pizza. I've tried both regular and deep dish. It's a bit more expensive than the other chains but spending a few more dollars for something that doesn't make you feel gross after eating is worth it to me! The Blue Line pizza and Italian combo are usually what I like to get. I prefer regular thin crust because I like less dough. The garlic bread is bomb too! read more

This pizza is delicious. I came here for a lunch with my coworkers. We were not disappointed. Order family style- the pizzas are big. We ordered a variety of veggie thin-crust and deepdish pizzas (and one pesto chicken). Yum! They even offer a gluten-free pizza. They serve beer and wine as well (no hard alcohol). The only disappointing part was that they have no hot drinks. I usually like a coffee or a tea with my meal and all they could offer was hot water....with nothing. Little Star's peninsula/south bay adventure extends to Mountain View. It certainly beats trying to go to the city and lining up for the famous deep dish pizza place, especially when I have a craving. They have both deep dish and thin crust pizzas, but their specialty is deep dish, and I would recommend that. We also got some oven roasted shishito peppers, which were decent with the aioli, but the peppers themselves were not super fresh and had a slight bitter taste to them. I still prefer Patxi's cornmeal crusts (there is one nearby in Palo Alto), but Blue Line certainly serves up a decent Chicago-style pizza. read more

A great crispy crunch on a deep dish pizza. Came here for lunch yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Got here around 11:30 to beat the lunch crowd. Parking was ample too at that time. At about 12, the place started to get packed. Luckily we had our choice of table as the weather was great but we choose inside. Once we were seated though, the waiter took a couple minutes too long to show up. We got the shishito peppers to start and the little star pizza. Both were great. The large one fed the two of us for 2 meals, so it's definitely a good idea to order a large and bring it home for lunch the next day. The pizza was about the same in quality compared to their other locations. We got the Mediterranean Chicken and it was pretty good - not my favorite deep dish pizza of their's that I have ever ordered, but I would give it 4 stars. Service was so-so. Not very friendly, but not rude. Just a lot of apathy. The restaurant itself is really missing the fun, warm vibe that the location in Campbell has. I am a New Yorker, so I like to consider myself a bit of a pizza connoisseur. ;-) I am not that familiar with deep dish other than Pizzeria Uno's chain restaurant. My husband and I both practically DROOL when we talk about getting Blue Line deep dish pizza, it's THAT good. I have not had their regular/flat pizza, so I can't speak to how that tastes. Back to the deep dish, the sauce is amazing and so flavorful, the crust is perfect and tasty. I dined in 2-3 times at this location, but mostly did pick up. For the most part, I had a positive service experience when eating in. I would say we picked up pizza here about 10 times from February-July 2015. I am leaving the Bay Area and I have had tons of mildly bad-horrible dining experiences. Blue Line's food is the ONLY food that I am going to miss in this area! read more

Blue Line has thin crust and regular pizza two and enough sides to keep up the variety. Though satisfying, the pizza doesn't have a lasting flavor. Pizza is something that should be craved and while Blue Line excels at filling me up for cheap, it's not something I've had an itch for like other pizzerias. The deep dish vegetarian is probably one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time. It's a tad on the salty side, but the texture and strong garlicky flavor are perfect. The crust wasn't hurt-your-mouth crisp, and it was a nice contrast to the juicy tomatoes on top. There was so much flavor in every bite! The roasted peppers appetizer was okay -- they should have used younger (smaller) peppers and roasted them a bit more, as they seemed a bit undercooked (possibly because of the large size of the peppers). The deep dish pizza is excellent here. Also had the garlic bread here which was really good. Not sure how regular pizzas are but the deep dish pizza are really big portions and also a lot of cheese, tomato sauce and they put a lot of toppings. The crust is always crisp (not too dry or not too brittle) and is tasty as well. The combination of ingredients they put on the pizza work really well together. The blue line pizza is vegetarian but is probably the best tasting deep dish pizza they have. Great location on Castro street with fast and respectful service. Overall, great food and I've came here with friends multiple times and we've all enjoyed the deep dish pizzas that were offered here. read more

Omgosh, I'm so sorry Blue Line... I came here once and was going to write a 5-star review, but when I came back I got terribly sick afterwards, so I can't say it was anything above a 2-star experience :| The pizza is good and there is no where else around here where you can get deep dish, but it is really heavy and filling. Not only is it thick; there's actually a lot of cheese but you don't really notice since it's under the tomatoes. I would be extra cautious about the Blue Line and Vegetarian, because they seem to have more cheese than the non-vegetarian chicken one. It's also fairly salty so I got quite thirsty afterwards but was too full to drink a lot of water. Darn first world problems. I would suggest splitting a small between 2-3 people. Individual sized pizzas are awkward because eating one by yourself is way too much, but you feel bad ordering any less. Maybe it would be a good idea to get take-out, because I feel cheap ordering too little when there is waiter service, but in reality it is really hefty. (And no one wants leftover pizza.) If you do eat there, the patio seating is great! The furniture is nice and sleek, but your conversation may be interrupted once in awhile by the Caltrain. I would also recommend pre-ordering on the phone, because deep-dish takes about half an hour to bake. Tip: Be warned that the wow factor drops precipitously after the novelty wears off. I was raving about this place, as most reviews were, after my first visit. When I came here again though, it seemed mediocre because I already knew what it tasted like. Sounds strange, but this is one of those restaurants that you only need to try once to be satisfied; if you plan on being a regular you will quickly get sick of it. read more
