First time at BLVD Bistro and it was fabulous! I went on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch so it was not crowded, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was jumping on the weekends. First off the music was excellent! The playlist had only the jams! Secondly, the food was very good! We started with the cornbread that came with a side of fig jam and lemon butter, which is an excellent combination. For the entire, I had chicken and 2 pancakes. The food came very hot, like right out of the fryer, and the pancakes were fluffy. My friend ordered the catfish which was delicious! I loved how my chicken came in a side basket because I don't like my syrup and chicken touching. So that was the icing on the cake for me in terms of presentation. I decided to go to BLVD for lunch today and I did not regret it. This is a hotspot that's typically packed on weekends. However, during lunch on a weekday it was slower and I was able to take my time and enjoy my meal. I also was able to take advantage of their weekday happy hour. The happy hour is from 2-6 Tuesday through Friday and has some solid options. I ordered a combination of happy hour and regular menu items; the food was delicious. I like the food. However, I was not impressed with the service. Waiter never came to ask me if I needed anything. I had to flag her down to get her attention. BLVD Bistro is a whole vibe! I walked in spontaneously during Saturday brunch and the place was packed. I definitely recommend making a reservation. I sat at the bar and service was kinda slow, which is understandable since it was busy. There were only 2 bartenders, but it took a while for drinks and food to come out. WOW, well first brigs place is whole vibe. As soon as you walk in the music, the decor, the people, everything is super dope.. My wife ordered the Shrimp and Grits, I'm Allergic to shellfish but is said it was Amazing!! I ordered the Catfish Breakfast and it was outstanding!! I've been to BLVD many many many times and have never had a complaint other than how popular they have grown each year making it harder to get in but it only speaks to how amazing their food is. If you have an opportunity to go do not pass it up. The meatloaf will redefine everything you think about meatloaf. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I was disappointed with the service. They are possibly understaffed so I will say that. Our server was nice but not attentive enough and we waited quite some time for our food...but.it was very good. I believe the check also states that gratuity is added to parties of 8 or more yet we were a party of 6 and had 20% gratuity added. I didn't like that especially because service wasn't top notch. Went to Sing along Sunday Brunch at Blvd Bistro. We were running a bit late due to traffic but thankfully they kept out reservation so we sat at our table with no problem!!! When i tell u this place gets CROWDED!!!! People standing out side and inside everywhere near the entrance! There is a DI on sunday and with their shutter windows open u can hear the music outside so it gathers a huge crowd! Now i love to dance and have a good time but this place is way too tight! Lol. People were having a blast which is great! Now on to the food. I ordered the Chicken and Pancakes. The chicken came with a thigh and huge breast i couldnt even attempted to eat until i got home. The chicken was juicy and very flavorful. I think due to my love of wings and legs i just couldnt get into it without looking like a viking!! Lol The pancakes were yummm. Taste homemade and very fluffy! My cousin had the catfish breakfast with eggs, grits and a biscuit. She said the grease tasted old that the fish was cooked in and her grits were cold. This place is without a doubt over priced with drinks costing $17! I think i would try this place again during the week and not with the brunch menu. Located in Harlem, this place has a casual-cool vibe, and serves modernized soul food classics. I was thinking of getting the Fried Catfish Dinner with turkey collards and southern potato salad, but then I saw the Fried Catfish Poboy which was a fraction of the price, so I ordered that. The Catfish Poboy also came with french fries. The piece of catfish was a decent size, and there was coleslaw on top, nestled in between a brioche bun. The catfish was fried to perfection and was delightfully crispy, as well as tender. The catfish was also well seasoned and full of great flavor. The coleslaw was a fresh crunchy addition, while the bread was buttery and soft. The fries were thick cut and satisfyingly crunchy with nice potato taste. My friend had the Fried Chicken brunch, which was served with biscuits. All the food and sauces came at the same time, except the biscuits, so when we mentioned it to the waiter, he very graciously brought over 4 biscuits instead of only 2. This was definitely a nice gesture. The fried chicken was okay, but didn't blow me away. The biscuits were too try and a bit on the bland side for me (even with maple butter and jelly). Service started off pretty good, but part way through our meal, the waiter gave us our check and let us know he was on his way out, but to let us know if we needed anything. This confused us, and it was difficult to get the attention of any of the servers after that. I was not impressed by the meal and have no plans to return. read more

Hidden gem! This is a must try place!! We came on a Saturday for brunch and didn't make a reservation. The staffs were super friendly and accommodated us. We got lucky but I would highly recommend using Yelp waitlist. We ordered: - blueberry pancake with fried chicken - shrimp & grits with biscuits I've had chicken & waffles, but never thought to pair savory chicken with sweet fruit pancakes. I'm obsessed now, it was life changing! The rich crumbs from the chicken adds texture to the fluffy sweet pancake. You also can't skip the blueberry... it adds a wonderful "freshness" to the fried chicken. The ingredients complimented each other so well. Their chicken is tender and fried to perfection. (Doesn't feel too greasy either) The jumbo shrimp and grits was also very delicious. This is very rich and flavorful... and it comes with a biscuit. They also give you hot sauce and honey butter to eat with the biscuit. The waiter gave us an extra biscuit since we were sharing the dish, very thoughtful gesture. We got there as soon as they opened on a Sunday and there was only one other party ahead of us. As soon as we walked in, the hostess showed us to the table and it went all the way up from there! The waiter we had was wondrous! We ordered a few things from the menu and they were all a hit! The chicken was seasoned well, fried perfectly & finger licking good! The buttermilk pancakes were definitely 4 stars in my book! Although they didn't have those good old southern crispy edges, I still thoroughly enjoyed them. Note: This is a 3.5 star review. My friend had come here before and suggested we go uptown for brunch today. I was super excited because I used to work right around the corner from this establishment. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and seated quickly. The music was fantastic, everyone was having a great time, so of course we were super excited. We noticed it took a while to get someone to come and take out order, but the place was packed. It is to be expected. What we did not expect was everything else. Good and not so good. First, The ambiance. Vibes were immaculate. The dj was playing every brunch and roller skating hit from ever. We were bouncing the whole time. He even played some good old, DC Go-Go, the "crankage" was real! The place had a modern, juke joint style, complimenting yesteryear and the present. Very nice. The not so good. There was a big guy so close to out table he almost knocked over my drink twice, as he stood at the dj stand. Secondly, the runners were great, but items obvious they were grossly short-staffed, because both our servers ended up being bartenders for the remainder of our visit. The first server left after our drink (116th Moonshine Punch, was ok) and appetizer order was placed (soy garlic wings were amazing, sliders were missing something and we were charged extra for cheese, despite it being in the description). The next server was a bubble lady with a slight cough (horrified) and a penchant for upselling. I wanted to get the chicken dinner, but there were no substitutions allowed, so I took her advice and ordered a la carte. Expensive idea. Should have stuck with my original order and tacked on the mac& cheese. Instead, I spent $40+ on Mac & cheese (literally cavatappi pasta and loads of cheese and maybe butter), 2 pancakes (phenomenal, especially after I got the honey butter), and "2pc" of catfish (unbrined, over seasoned, old grease fried, thin filets are cut in half). My pancakes were almost cold by the time I got butter and syrup (a kind gent clearing tables got it for me). I sampled my friend's Shrimp & grits (delicious) but the portion was closer to a starter than an entree. I will DEFINITELY will make better choices if I return for the 45 minute drive from the Stuy. read more

Heard absolutely amazing things about BLVDBistro and so I started following them on Social Media. Their Instagram page made you feel like you were all up in the action and one last thing left to do was to check them out in person. My cousin just recently graduated from Columbia university with his masters in Structural Engineering and so thought this would be a fun place to take him to brunch. Talk about the perfect combination of that celebration vibe with such delicious food. We ordered a Bellini carafe (ok maybe we ordered two) along with applewood bacon, smothered biscuits chicken sausage gravy, and the brioche French toast. Everything came out in a timely manner all while we were being entertained with great music and sing alongside who knew that they were known for their Sing-along-Sundays. So, this place is definitely a hidden gem. I was so happy to be in the space. The menu was really a mouth watering read. I knew I had to try BLVD Bistro after finding multiple videos on TikTok when I searched for soul food restaurants in NY. I made 10am reservations for my sister and I for a Sunday morning. The tunes of gospel music greeted us at the door. We assumed a DJ would be playing after seeing several videos of one singing. I didn't catch our waitress name but she was hospitable. She was aware that we were from New Orleans and recommended their top 3 brunch dishes. We listened and ordered 2/3 dishes, Catfish Breakfast (not pictured) and Jumbo Shrimp & Grits. We didn't expect to find grits in NY but we're glad that we did! The Shrimp & Grits were garnished with thinly sliced jalapeños and bacon. The grits were creamy and cheesy. The shrimp had its own flavor to compliment the dish. However, $32 for 4 shrimp is crazy and yes I'm aware of the price of seafood. I ate all of my Shrimp and Grits. The biscuit that came with the dish was similar to a Popeyes biscuit -- IYKYK! I asked for jelly and learned that they only had grape which was another turn off. I would've preferred a mini croissant or even toast bread to substitute the biscuit. I tasted a piece of my sister's catfish and I was shocked after reading the negative comments. The catfish was fine to me. I usually don't have much expectations for New Orleans cuisines in other cities. The lemonade wasn't overly sweet. The waitress took pride in serving us lemonade that she made and it was the perfect blend. Overall, I would visit again!
