We had two meals deliveries in the last week with 2 different experiences. Last Thur the food was fresh, hot and made for a wonderful meal. Saturday the food was cold and ill prepared. If Saturday had been the first meal it would have been the last. But Thursday was so good, I'm left feeling frustrated and not sure. The first meal was 2 Turkey dinners and could not have been better, even if it was at the restaurant Saturday was a pot roast sandwich which looked like it was made 2 days earlier with tons of fat On The meat. They had newer types of seating areas, which looks to be good for large and small groups, which is a win in this location. The food is mediocre, at best, my omelet had little taste, minimal filling, and seemed to be something I could get from a hospital cafeteria. Loving the newer, modern look of this Bob Evans! They've done a wonderful job aesthetically keeping with the farmhouse style restaurant. Dark woods against popping red and white are noticeably stylish! Love it! We recently were in on a Saturday around 11am. Sort of the inbetween for breakfast-lunch. We had to wait 15 minutes to be seated, which was tolerable considering the line to wait was decently long. The tedious part came into play once we were actually seated. It took for-ev-er for our food to come out. Ugh. Hubs and I were both starving by the time our food came out, it was a pretty extreme wait for a place like Bob Evans. Boo. The food was good, I ordered my usual country breakfast and it was as it should be. I'd recommend passing on the bland hash browns. Kiddo ordered the plenty of pancakes and devoured it. Overall i was pleased with my order. The salad was fresh and the country fried steak was nice and tender. The potatoes were also very good. My date ordered two blueberry crepes with bacon on the side. Her crepes were very good (tried a bite myself). Her order is the reason for the 4 stars. She never received her bacon. I order pick up every Saturday for the family, give us a break from cooking. The order is never right when I pick it up. NEVER!!! Something is always missing. Food is usually over cooked as well. I think what makes this location better is it's not really ever that busy. The servers here are better than ok, but not great. I used to come to the store regularly. Keyword used to. The service was horrendous, the restaurant was dirty and the service and food were slow. Our server, I believe her name was Catherine, was not attentive at all, she was scatterbrained and slow to acknowledge us as well as other customers around us. The kitchen was slow in getting food out, to the point where my husband and my daughters food was almost cold. The gravy on my daughters mashed potatoes what is coagulated! Catherine and I believe her name was, was constantly forgetting things food silverware people in her section.One of the other servers was too busy hanging out with one of her friends then to actually bus tables and sweep the floors. Her little friend was following her everywhere talking to her and showing her videos and pictures on her phone. It took a few minutes to even be at knowledged at the register when we wanted to pay. The restaurant was beyond dirty, the floor around our table looked like it hadn't been swept in a week much less an hour. Right after we got there we should've known something was going to be bad because the manager got called out to a table and she ended up giving them $10 off of their meal. I normally love this restaurant location but today must have been an 'off' day. I ordered a slow roasted turkey bacon melt. I specifically said no tomatoes. I've gotten this sandwich before in the past. The sandwich arrived with tomato. The turkey was warm/room temperature. Some of the turkey slices had bits of gristle. I specifically asked for the bacon to be cooked extra crispy. It arrived chewy but not really crispy. As I was eating my meal customers at the table in the front of us said their rolls were cold. The Eastgate location has definitely gone down hill! The Bob Evans restaurants seem to be a place that attracts the more mature generation. Of course anyone is welcome, but I know my parents and grandparents love it. Yesterday I was told that my mother was treated horribly while trying to pay for her food at the register. All she was doing was paying! No complaints, no problems just paying. And a lady (the name on her receipt was Taylor) who was at the register treated her wIth no respect. My mom had a coupon for 6.00 off her to go order. AS she handed the coupon over she was told that the order was already rang up and the coupon could not be used. Really? And my mom didn't cause a scene, all she did was apologize to the lady (Taylor) for being an inconvenience. What? My mom is 67 years old and she apologized because someone was to rude and lazy to do their job. And my mom wasn't the only one treated with this type of disrespect. An older couple in front of her was treated horribly. Seeing my mom walk out of a restaurant that older folks love and to see her frazzled by a lady who apparently doesn't need to be in any type of customer service roll was very unsettling. Bob Evans, you have to do something about your customer service training. It is lacking in big ways. This has to stop. Ordered online and was at restaurant for pickup at appointed time. Called number for curbside pick up. No response after phone ringing and ringing. No problem I'll just go in and pick it up. When entering there were about 5 people ahead of me to pick up. The restaurant wasn't that busy and there were 4-5 young girls working on go orders. I've never seen anything like it. There was quite a bit of food in containers on the table they were using to prep the orders but nobody seemed to really have it together in getting the orders done. The food was just sitting there getting cold. A DoorDash driver,there to pick up an order, stated she had had been there an hour and a half. Another woman had been there 45minutes waiting to get her order and finally told them to cancel her order after she found out they hadn't even started one part of the order. I had never experienced anything like this at Bob Evans or any other restaurant. I ended up canceling my order after about 45 minutes, also. Again, the restaurant was not busy except for the backed up online orders and there seemed to be adequate people working on this but no system or organization. Awkwardly placed in the corner of the plaza it's in but definitely worth the visit. Customer service here was excellent from the time my daughter and I arrived to the time our waitress took our order. Now our waitress did take our order without writing g it down which I thought was odd but after all the food and beverages came out exactly as ordered I worried no more.
