Do not sleep on Bobbie's!! If you haven't been there, why not?! The restaurant feels much more open and not as loud as before. There are always lots of people on the wait list, but it goes by quickly and is totally worth it. The service is outstanding. The hostess, servers, bussers - everyone was friendly and helpful. And the food!! We ordered waffles w/ strawberries and cream as an "appetizer." Delicious!! The waffles were fluffy just sweet enough. We also had the Texas omelette and the meal with biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were soft and buttery, potatoes were delicious, and the eggs were fantastic. Place was packed and they were down a couple of servers. That said, we were seated quickly and the waitress was amazingly good. Got the food really quickly and it was delicious. Massive portions and my arteries definitely got more clogged than they already were. No shortage of carbs or calories here and seeing the very large folks visiting this restaurant, one understands why this a a fan favorite for these folks. Got the "small" chicken fried steak and it was huge. A patron seated next to me later got the large one and it was three times the size. My friend got the catfish and fried okra. Due to an extended wait at Snooze, my mom suggested this place. I had never heard of the place so I was eager to check it out. Sadly, when we arrived we were advised of a long wait. We decided to stick around and wait. There were a lot of patrons waiting also which I thought was a good sign. We sat outside for about 45 minutes. Got the eventual text advising our table was ready. We were led to the back right seating area. The tables were somewhat spread out so it wasn't cramped. Our waitress came by soon after for our drinking order. Based on the menu, this place has a lot of variety. I liked that breakfast is served all day. I opted for the SOS combo. After a lengthy wait, our food was finally served. The biscuit and gravy was great. The biscuit was huge too! I also had two scrambled eggs, pork sausage, and farmhouse potatoes. Nothing terribly exciting about the eggs. However, the potatoes and sausage was delectable. I liked the seasoning and texture of the potatoes. Big parking lot and was very busy when we arrived. I was excited. Checked in and waited. When I got the text that our table was ready, I went to the host and she told me to wait over there and pointed. Girl, over where??? And she just said there and pointed, so I walked further in the hallway to the station that had an old register on it and then proceeded to be in the way of the servers. My sister didn't understand and followed a server because she thought he was seating us and he wasn't.... So then finally a lady came and we were already confused because wait over there isn't helping and there isn't a sign for a waiting spot. So we ordered and our waitress just made faces. So, yes, we asked for a few accommodations, but we are literally telling you what we want so you don't have to be wrong later. The food came out and our table was pretty small for five people. They tried to fit five in a four (it was just one table.) The food barely fit. We ordered an omelette, two large chicken fried steaks, a burger, and an extra plate. The breading on the chicken fried steak was overwhelming and the steak was the size of the burger. The chicken fried steak was over cooked so I had a hard time cutting it and fries flew off my plate and on to the floor. The omelette's vegetables were burned in the omelette, so the taste wasn't good. I am so confused on why people like this place and why it was so busy. Maybe I got the wrong thing, maybe it was an off day, but I am not running back to this place. Wow, I have been wanting to try Bobby's since reading they were talking over the original location of Magnolia Pancake Haus. First, I highly recommend using the "Join The Waitlist" on their website, especially on weekends and holidays when they are open. My wife ordered the new Peach Cobbler French Toast with bacon. I ordered the Farmers Omelet (Note: they ran out of mushrooms and asked if I wanted to substitute something and I asked for Avocado). I had the Hash browns and grilled biscuit as my sides. Everything was very delicious and filling. If you get a biscuit on the side I recommend asking it be grilled. Our server Miranda suggested it and I am glad I listened. Wow, Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and homemade. If you haven't tried Bobby's Southern Kitchen I highly recommend it. I put it in the same category as Magnolia Pancake Haus and Max & Louies, great food and good size portions. read more

Bobbie's has something for everyone!! I had the catfish strips and wow!! So very fresh! So very tasty!! Fries were good, and so was the coleslaw. I went with a group of about 12 people and everyone had nothing but great things to say about the food. Their grits had the best consistency I have seen in a long time. This little corner of Embassy Oaks is becoming a hot spot for comfort food. I had heard about Bobbie's after they replaced Magnolia pancakes old location. So we visited after voting early one weekday morning and were not disappointed. The menu is vast with lots of chicken fried options. That was my main reason for going. I don't care for chicken fried steak but my daughter loves it and declared Bobbie's version legit! My mother clucker sandwich was ginormous. I immediately boxed half and still could not finish the other half. It was tasty and filling. I would have preferred a bit more seasoning but it was still good. The coffee was good too. I cannot comment on the food, only on the service and management. We are from out of town, but we eat out quite a bit. We are familiar with long wait times, but this place was ridiculous! We were told 30-45 mins, which was fine, 50 mins into our wait, the manager was having to explain to several customers their wait process with regard to booking online vs not booking online. We did not book online. We decided to see how much ch longer our wait time would be, we were told 50 minutes, that is BS because we have already waited 50 mins. They have 5 stars but their way of handling their seating process needs much work!!! We left and had to find somewhere else to eat!!! First time at north side location, was worried that food might not be the same as in most relocated places! Man I was wrong they still have the best chicken fried steak in San Antonio. I ordered the senior size and could not finish it, homemade mashed potatoes and green beans with lots of bacon,the best. 10 Oct 2024 We never went to their restaurant on the south side, of which I had read was on the smaller side. Visiting here, I can see why people are really happy about the larger space. It doesn't appear they changed much, other than the signs on the restrooms, 'Roosters' and 'Hens'. They kept the Magnolia tables and chairs. We arrived about 10:30am and were handed breakfast menus. The husband wanted pork chops, but they were out of them. Sigh. I went with the biscuit sandwich with sausage. Husband was not overly impressed. I thought mine was pretty good. Service was very good. If it wasn't our server attending to us, it was one or two others. Prices aren't bad. Our tab for our two plates and a coffee was $29. Go there. read more

This is a cute little joint. Has some basic breakfast food, and some unique dishes. We were happy with our food! But it is far away from us, not sure if it's worth a drive. Because of the previous establishment at this location I know we automatically want to know if their pancakes are good, I apologize I didn't try them but according to the waitress they are good. I ordered the Texan omelet that comes with potatoes and opted for the biscuit. My husband ordered small (because it comes in a large) chicken fried steak that comes with eggs grits and biscuit or toast. Their servings are very large! I'd highly suggest to order with caution. The biscuits cover the entire small plate and they are delicious. We didn't care too much for their house coffee but no complaints when it comes to the food. When I heard about this place I decided I needed to try it. Southern Comfort Food is right up my alley. Today the special was meatloaf. Not many places serve meatloaf so I was eager to see what theirs was like. The service was great, friendly and prompt. The meals came out after a little wait. The meatloaf serving was pretty good sized, I chose fried okra and green beans for my sides. The sides were on the small size but was enough with the portion of the meat. The fried okra was crisp and the green beans had a lot of bacon. As for the meatloaf, it was very different. The flavor was okay, just not something I expected at all, it had a crisp crust of cheese on one side also. Would I order it again? I truly don't know, I most likely will try something else anyway. Got there around 11 on a Monday we were quickly seated. The restaurant was lit with natural light so it felt really good in there, just wish they had some music playing. The food at Bobbie's Cafe is delicious! My Dad and I came when they opened on a Tuesday and we were seated immediately. The server was kind enough to highlight the menu since it was our first time. We both got the chicken fried chicken breakfast and it was absolutely delicious. Our food was delivered very quickly and piping hot. The chicken fried chicken was juicy with the right amount of gravy. The potatoes were absolutely fried to perfection. My only drawback was the biscuit. While it was golden and very large, it was dry and too crumbly in my opinion. I was not able to put any jam on it as it fell apart. Overall, the relaxed ambiance of Bobbie's makes it a comfortable place to eat breakfast anytime. I plan to come back and you should too! read more

Tried Bobbie's Southern Kitchen on our way through San Antonio to see if their CFS could make it onto my list of Texas' best chicken fried steak. A few things before that, wait time was long although I didn't pre-reserve online, but the time to be served once our order was placed was just as long. On my first order of a new CFS, I usually order the gravy on the side, as a gravy can sometimes make or break a CFS. The gravy was very flavorful with good texture. The CFS could have been tenderized a little more. The crust, although tasty, was excessive considering the size of the steak. The sides i ordered, mashed potatoes and fried okra, were very good. No bread was provided. Overall, the wait staff was very good and the ambiance, although quite noisy, was adequate. Bobbie's CFS would not make my list and so far, Mama's Cafe is SA's only inclusion in that list. read more

Had a great visit to Bobbie's on the Southside. Service was great and our food came out super quick. It's an older joint that has been serving the community for years. Feels like you stepped back in time a couple of decades for sure. I love that! I had the Texas Omelette and added Sausage with the Chopped Seasoned Potatoes. It was a hearty meal and all around great plate. Lots of flavors and done perfectly. My wife loved her Texas French Toast with Ham. Simple and yummy, just what she wanted. We also shared a bowl of chili per the recommendation of a customer sitting behind us that had been going here for years...it was awesome! I normally don't post negative reviews, but this one feels necessary. Today, April 19, 2026, I visited Bobbie Southern Comfort expecting a good dining experience, but unfortunately it was the opposite. After placing my order, I ended up waiting over 2 hours for my food. During that time, several customers became frustrated and even walked out. What made the situation more disappointing is that I had already paid in full before receiving service. After such a long delay, I felt there should have been some effort to accommodate customers for the inconvenience--whether that meant a partial refund, discount, apology, or some gesture of goodwill. Instead, I was told by the owner that they do not offer refunds or discounts. I understand that busy days and unexpected delays can happen, but customer service is how a business responds when things go wrong. Sadly, this experience left me very disappointed. What do y'all think? Should customers be compensated after waiting that long, especially when payment was taken upfront? My waitress was great thank you Samantha . Yes, I tipped my waitress. Hopefully this makes the owner reflect maybe this situation should have been handled differently. read more

The location is beautiful and clean with wide open spaces for seating. The server "summer" was fabulous! But the food was just okay and a little overpriced for what we got. The omelet was a big portion BUT all the meat wasn't mixed in- it seemed all placed there in between a thin layer of egg (might've tasted better mixed in?). The biscuits and gravy was just ok also, the whole thing lacked flavor - it was missing some seasoning and they could be a little more generous with the sausage (as you can see from the picture) The bacon was good and the coffee excellent! So the place / food wasn't horrible but not good enough to bring us back. Overall, we wouldn't go back but glad we got to try this new place on embassy. read more

This place was amazing! We are in San Antonio for spring break and although the River Walk was our primary focus, I wanted to still check out the food scene. I quick foodie search on IG and Yelp led us to Bobbie's. They are only open brunch style hours, which to me is always a plus because it suggests they are focused on doing a few things really well. This place definitely lived up to the hype. It's lightly decorated in a farm to table style. It's broken up in about 3-4 different dining areas. I've never seen a restaurant divided in such a way. Definitely unique, but it cuts down on the noise and makes for an enjoyable experience. The menu is large, but not overwhelming so. I had my eye on a few things, but finally settled on Ana's Fancy French Toast. I got the half portion, which was perfect for me. I added scrambled eggs and a side of bacon. Everything was absolutely delicious. The French toast was pretty sweet and didn't require any syrup. The eggs were really good and were softly scrambled. The bacon was the star of the meal. Best I've ever had. I ended ordering an additional side of it. I have no clue what type of bacon they used or what they even did to it beyond fry it like everyone else, but it was beyond amazing. If you're ever in the area you have to check this place out. read more

Was able to pay a visit to bobbies. Found our meal very satisfying. Also happy to report that they are moving closer to our area(airport) when they take over the old pancake haus location at 281 and Bitters area. I am looking forward to paying them another visit when they reopen. Oh, and is you find yourself hankering for some good eats on the south side of town, never fear as they also have a location over there that will remain open. Portions were perfectly sized. We kind of had a bit before the pictures. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. The ambiance was nice. Although I must be clear that we visited when they were just about to close. Everything isn't for everyone and that's quite alright. I ordered the buttermilk pancake plate after considering the French toast, because I figured if the pancakes are good everything else should be as well ... not really. My daughter ordered the small chicken fried chicken with fries. She said the CFC was great as it was hot, fresh & crispy and the fries were the same. Cool. The pancakes were ... *not* good. Either the batter was overmixed, old, undercooked or something, because as I cut into them I could see stark white and oddly crumbly batter, they were also barely warm and did not melt the butter. I tried a piece that looked decent & immediately got the server's attention. I don't typically send food back, but I couldn't see going any further. I knew what I needed to know. The plate came with scrambled *egg* (no way it was 2 eggs), room temperature bacon (daughter said it was ok), and extremely greasy and room temperature hash browns. I ended up getting the French toast, which was hot, fresh and actually tasty. We went in the middle of the week around 10a as we had business in the area and there were maybe 6 other tables at this time. No way there should've been a food quality issue. The server was super sweet (Amelya, I believe) and the manager was nice as well ... it's just not for me. And that's ok. There a really good spots closer to where I live that I'll be glad to patronize. read more
