As a rule, I never stop at these Chipotle/Freebirds lookalikes, but they have a nice outdoor patio that allows dogs and they are super convenient by my house. I was pleasantly surprised to find live music outside and a pretty decent menu considering it's kind of a serve-yourself sort of place. To my surprise again, the food was amazing! Their fish tacos are great, corn tortillas, generous avocado slices and some kind of delicious, creamy, spicy green sauce to go with. I walk to this place or skateboard here for lunch. I recommend the nachos. I would consider this place to be casual, which I prefer. They offer indoor and outdoor seating so you can pick your preference. The food typically comes out very quickly and the staff is very nice. The only thing I don't like is the exposed kitchen. Luckily, my boyfriend found a taco joint in walking distance from where we were. He did a great job on finding this place because I thought this was great. Other than the fact that the menu was confusing to read/look at, the food was very good. I ended up getting the enchiladas and my boyfriend got tacos. The enchiladas by itself was already spicy. When I think of Bodegas, I think of two things: margarita pitchers, and MONSTER NACHOS. Mostly the monster nachos. They serve a variety of other options (tacos, burritos, the usual tex-mex), but I find the nachos to be most satisfying. It begins with a foundation of simple tortilla chips in the large metal bowl. Then they move down the assembly line and fill this bowl to the top with meat, cheese, rice, beans, and whatever else you fancy (guac is $1 extra but the serving size is hearty). SO GOOD. Bodegas has a great outdoor seating area (with strings of lights at night), so I typically only go when the weather is nice enough to take advantage of the outside tables. If you are visiting the museum and want something more than McDonald's this is a great option. It is a quick walk down the street and they have a decent menu to choose from. I've had the salad bowl and tacos and no complaints. It is a line style like Freebirds or Chipotle. They go pretty fast so it's a little overwhelming if you've never been or not sure what to get. Finally figured out that I should get in line, order my food and I'm giving a number. I wait at a table for my food since they gave me a numbered table marker, guy comes out later and tells me to go inside to get my plate. Why did he not just bring the plate outside if he new it was mine. I get the plate and go outside then I'm chased down like you have to pay for your food. I definitely appreciated that the veggie mix looks like it was actually designed to be served alone instead of the usual onion/bell pepper mix that seems to just serve as a complement for the meat choices; the mix has carrots, potatoes, squash, etc! Frankly I am not a fan of Mexican food, but Bodega's is one of the few places I'm willing to ignore my anti-preference. My hubby and I often visit Taco Bodega when we need a taco fix. I must admit that I am surprised at the overall low rating from Yelp. The only thing I eat from Taco Bodega are the ground beef tacos and they are pretty good. The ground beef is seasoned well and they are stuffed with the toppings of your choice. I will say that I have tried chicken, fajita and fish tacos but the best by far are the ground beef. The margaritas are sometimes a hit and miss. When they are right--- boy are they right!! The strawberry mango is fruity and will have you feeling nice when you leave. Sometimes, the margaritas aren't that flavorful and just taste like blah. Overall the spot is cool and laid back. Dont waste your time. Came here because I was in need of a nice drink after coming off of 5 12 hour shifts at a busy ER. Bought the "world famous margarita". When I tell you there was literally not ONE SINGLE DROP OF ALCOHOL in this drink. I'm so angry right now. I asked the man that served me the drink. He claims its premixed and "one shot of tequila is standard for a margarita...other places just put more liquor". Dont say I didnt warn you. If you looking for a virgin margarita, come here! Okay curiosity finally got the best of me and I didn't bring a lunch so I threw caution into the wind and stopped in for lunch! First off when you walk in the restaurant is clean and inviting. Secondly there is no long lunch line!!! Unlike my favorite burrito place. Thirdly the prices are about the same for being in the medical center. There are so many choices for toppings! I think that's were I got lost at because I've not tried them before so I stuck with basics. I had a spicy beef burrito. Man the meat was so flavorful and just the right amount of spice. For me! Overall it was de-licious!!! Problem was it seemed smaller than Chipotle's burrito because I could really eat two of them or maybe I'm just that hungry? I love chains like Chipotle, Freebirds, and Bullritos, but sometimes you want to try something new that is not a chain restaurant. In my opinion, Bodegas beats those places out. It's a similar concept, but they also have other Tex-Mex type food like enchiladas, fish tacos and even a burger. Their ingredients taste fresh and everything we tried tasted fantastic. I ordered the burrito bowl which was totally filling. The chips and queso was on point as well. Another plus is the full bar. My wife ordered the fresh basil martini and it was refreshing and delicious. I opted for a draft beer which hit the spot also. The only negative is the parking situation. "It's what made us famous" OMG - they have perfected it! 3 fish tacos with a side of rice and beans is more than enough food so I couldn't eat it all but I did eat all the fish because it was fabulously done. Such an easy, perfect meal to order. My daughter ordered combo 9 - rotisserie chicken and really liked her meal. The small drink cups were included with our combos so we could choose between various sodas, iced teas, lemonade, water, and refill as desired at a self-serve station We had efficient, friendly service and were in and out in a half hour.
