Best fried chicken hands down. Words can not describe. You just have to come try it. I usually order takeout.

Based on my experience today, this place desperately needs a quality control top down review from the franchise because if all other Bonchons were run this way I can't imagine it'd be successful. Things that I found to be odd: * there's no clear flow in terms of whether you're supposed to order first, or sit down first, the employees were behind their plexiglass behind the bar and not really greeting people coming in * don't tell me my order is going to take 45 minutes after I've placed an order and I'm already in the process of paying for it * they were refilling the drinking water reservoirs by removing the filter portion of the tank and filling the reservoir straight from the tap. This tap might be filtered but it was weird because they were skipping the filtering portion of the tank * only like 1-2 employees seem to know what's actually going on; our food was on the counter for a good 10+ minutes but only one employee actually checked it and called it out (the other one was just sitting behind the counter waiting around) * the food was BLAND. Like if I'm going to wait 45 minutes for lukewarm food and pay 30% more than my local takeout spot, the food better taste bomb. Panda Express makes a better fried rice. The chicken wings had good texture but it's like they don't use salt at all on the meat or batter, and only the sauce imparted some flavor. If the food was 40% cheaper I could deal with the quality and service at this level, but at these prices get your crap together. I have no desire to ever go back here with abundance of other options in the plaza. read more

Second time trying their food. Ordered a family meal but the chicken drumsticks were missing. I wasted 30min to come back and get the missing drumsticks! The meal was cold by the time I was home. Arrive early if you're planning to eat on site; it fills up quickly! I personally love the pork buns, potstickers, and seasoned fries; family as a whole enjoys the fried chicken in every form (strips, wings, etc.). This bonchon location has gone down hill. I was charged $5 for a small cup of side when before they had bigger portions. Compared to other bonchons, the portion and taste of the food of this location is the worst by far. The manager seemed very stingy, I believe her name is Jin? She's never there and I'll see only 1-2 servers working by themselves during busy hours. I went into buy myself a 6 piece meal someone came in and got my order while I still had my receipt. When I get inside the store the manger was a little uneasy about making my order over I then went to sit back in my car and I watched another customer bring my order back in after I follow behind the Manager Thomas wanted to give me the food that the other customer left out with and to bring. Have only had takeout from here so far, but you know if the takeout fries are good it's generally a good sign! They were hot and crispy, nicely seasoned. Chicken was delicious, good mix of wings and drums, breading was crunchy without being heavy. I got the spicy chicken which was more of a heat that built up as you ate a few pieces but that may just be my heat tolerance. I was excited to try Bonchon for lunch. My daughter and I ordered 10 piece chicken wing dish along with beef bulgogee bibimbap. We also ordered a side of rice for almost $3 and kimchi for almost $4. The chicken wings were on the dry side and small. The bibimbap did not have the standard seasoned vegetables and was lacking in flavor. The cost for a very small bowl of rice was outrageous and the kimchi was chopped into the smallest pieces that I have ever seen served. It looked like a collection of leftover kimchi from all the prior customers. It was not appetizing and stopped eating it after a couple of bites. Overall, paying almost $50 for the lunch was too much for barely mediocre food with no ambiance and basic service. I won't be going back. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. First of all, they're the only Bonchon location I know that increased their price on chicken wings. I ordered 30 chicken wings over the phone and the worker said they have to charge me for 3 orders of 10 chicken wings which makes the order much more expensive. Normally I pay around $38 at other Bonchon locations for an order of 30 chicken wings but I paid $50. This is ridiculous! Also most importantly, the food was terrible. I didn't know different Bonchon locations serve different quality of food because the ones I've been to have been consistently delicious. I ordered soy garlic and spicy chicken wings, however, 5 of my chicken wings had no flavor and they accidentally gave me no flavor. They completely missed the sauce on them. Lastly, the skin of the wing was was so thick and full of batter and that is not what I'm used to at bonchon. I've been to most Bonchon locations in the Bay Area and by far this was the worst location. I was so disappointed with this location especially because this is one of my favorite restaurants. Decided to give this restaurant a try since it looks new. Sure enough there's a sign that says 'Soft Opening'. The service is attentive enough so no complaints there. We decided to try the wings, seasoned fries and pork buns. For the wings, we ordered the half soy and garlic and half extra crunch. My husband and I liked the soy garlic better although both had very subtle flavor. The wings had a nice crispness to them. The fries were ok - crispy but not much flavor and pork bun was ok - seems like pork belly could be more meaty. We may be back to try the more traditional Korean dishes. read more

Food was awesome! However, every time I go there there's always one server that's great and so kind, and one that gives a dirty look at the costumers. It might be a race thing I don't know, but it's absolutely disgusting and unacceptable and this business is bound to have a law suit if their customer service training doesn't get reevaluated and improved. read more

Placed an order online for 20 strips and some onion rings. Total came out to over $40. They called to tell me they were out of strips and were going to substitute for boneless wings. Watching the mixed reviews and was constantly on the fence about trying. Finally tried yesterday and I'm no longer on the fence. This is not a place for great KFC; not even decent. The boneless strips were too hard to chew. The drum and wings overall had no great flavor and taste like the oil used was not fresh. The kimchi fried rice with bacon didn't taste good either. I should have been observing better that many patronizing were not Korean. May have to try Odagada again, but last time we were there the wife got sick. I wish I could rate negative numbers. Worst experience ever. Right when the food was being served, my son spotted a live cockroach crawling on the table. When I pointed that to the server serving at the table, she quickly squished it with the paper napkin, I guess that was our cue to walk out but we didn't and I super regret!! And next I spot bug flying out of our special garlic fries. . We couldn't handle it anymore. We went to the front desk to pay and get out. There were 10 of us and because we were just having a reunion I requested that they give us separate checks per couple. We are all husband and wife group with two singles. It's nice they accommodated but put an 18% tip included on each bill. Spending $47 for my husband and myself for lunch is really too much considering the atmosphere and food quality. the service is always good, but the last time i went was top tier. i brought my 7 month old baby with me and there was an older couple working (i'm assuming they're a couple) that were so unbelievably sweet and helpful as soon as i walked into the restaurant. they were pulling chairs up for me to set his car seat on, laughing and clapping with him, and even offered to walk him in his stroller while i ate. even though the food is incredible and the restaurant is always nice and clean, it's the experience of real kindness and service that will keep me coming back. read more

Long time Bonchon fan from going to their Santa Clara location years ago! Was super excited when Bonchon came to Pleasanton. With Covid, it's been real easy to order online and pick up, even though it does longer time than I care for. However, I have to reduce 2 stars in rating due to the wildly inconsistency in the size of the wings!!! It's awesome when they are normal sized, but half of the time, they come so little, that you end up with literally 50% less food! I like the taste of the wings, the way it stays crispy, even a day later after overnight stay in the fridge. But the difference in wing size is too hard to excuse, and especially being a chain, I 100% expect greater quality control to assure customers consistency in experience! Pre-Covid we use to eat in the restaurant about once a month. Sometimes the service was slow and wait times excessive. Since the whole pandemic thing, we've made several take out purchase since and still very much love their wings and drumsticks combo. My favorite is spicy and soy garlic. The only downside is the side dishes that come with it, coleslaw or daikon. Both are mediocre. Their customer service still pretty good. Nice and clean. The chicken wings taste exactly Bonchon. Friendly staffs and good customer services. The only thing need to improve is the Bibimbap need more source to make it more spicy and flavors.
