Bonchon in California is worse than the ones in NYC and NJ already. This location used to be ok but the quality just went downhill during the pandemic. We ordered chicken drumsticks and they were WAYYYYY over fried. The skin turned dark brown and meat inside shrink and dried like cardboard. Also the meat has no flavor and it seems they forgot to marinate the drumsticks at all. At this point, Popeyes chicken tastes better than the food from this location. read more

I have ordered 6 times from Bonchon (all delivery). At first, I loved it, but this last time I was shocked at how the quality had deteriorated. The portion size of the sides has decreased by at least a third. You now pay 3.25 for a tiny cup of coleslaw. The chicken pieces are getting smaller and smaller too, (where do they find these tiny chickens?) and tastes as if it has been sitting out for hours. This location is so messed up. Swung in on our way home off of 580 to do a Togo order. Girl in front said order will be ready in 10 minutes. Waited and waited. Other customers came in after me for "Dine-In". Their orders were taken. While I sat and wait patiently. 20 minutes went by. The Dine-In customers that came in after me got all their food orders. I checked on my order. Was told 5 more minutes...that 5 minutes became a waiting game of 35 minutes wait! Seriously? Reward the Dine-in customers first and punish the Togo people and make them wait for their orders. Mined you I only had a small order of 10 wings and it took them 35 minutes to cook it ‍. The negative reviews are 100% accurate. Waited over 1 hr for a small wing combo, fries and 3 tacos. The food is average, but the management is severely lacking. Multiple guests around us shared the same frustrations. The long wait time was blamed on their to-go orders.. which apparently they prioritize over their dine in guests. I waiting 15 min on the phone while employees joked around in the background and never picked up. I then proceeded to order online at 5:30pmwith a pickup up time of 7pm. I received a text saying my order would be right out. food never came so i approached the counter and was told it would be another 30 min for my order. This place has friendly staff, great chicken, and is the perfect spot to sit and eat with friend or whoever. I cam here with my boyfriend and we got the 12 piece boneless half and half. Ok, the fried chicken is to die for! Favorite is spicy of course being a real Korean food connoisseur and totally hits the spot for Korean gochujang spicy. My girls love the sweet one and now ask for it regularly...a bit pricey, but worth it as I can't think of anything else similar. read more

The soft-opening is the worst to come. The food is excellent but service is terrible. We put our name but not seated for more than half hour. We saw empty table perfect for both of us. The lady couldn't figure out how to arrange table and prioritize the table for more people. She finally gave that table to us after half hour of waiting. We ordered food and didn't get our food another half hour to 45 minutes and kept getting the wrong food and had to ask for water. Owner please train these workers to serve the customer service better. read more

i have ordered here a number of times this year and every time has been a good experience - the wings have been very plump and juicy and the orders have always been made timely. i like the spicy one the most (the soy garlic is a little strong for my tastes); they also have other things on the menu - i've tried a few of them but they were only ok and kinda pricey. i'd stick with the chicken here read more

Well looking through the back into the kitchen u can see a worker who has a mask around his neck and not over his mouth. I can imagine how difficult it might be to breath in them. But you have to wear your mask buddy. read more

Terrible service! When we first arrived, the restaurant was completely empty. While waiting more than 30 mins for our food the restaurant filled up pretty quickly. We noticed that tables sat after us got their food before us. Aside from that, the main reason why I'm writing this review is that the server forgot our fried rice, so we reminded her a couples time. We waited for another 30 minutes for her to bring it to us, nothing. I finally went up to the server and ask her to take it off our bill since they obviously had no intentions of making the fried rice we ordered. So she goes you guys ordered the family special, you can't get a refund. It comes with the special so you guys have to take the fried rice. Im like ok, how am I going paying for something I never received and on top of that I've waited forever for and reminded you guys of and still no FRIED RICE. She then goes I can only take the kimchi off your bill since it was a not part of the special.. I'm like wtf, that's not the equivalent of the fried rice. I then asked if I can take the fried rice Togo and she went to check in the kitchen and she was like no. So they obviously were not in the process of making the fried rice and had no intentions of giving it to us. After that she only offered 20% off our bill and to compensate for the food that was never given to us, which I think it was not fair but I was tired and we were already there for more than an hour so I agreed. I don't blame the server for this as it seemed like what she was telling us was coming from the owners or upper management. They just handled this very poorly and never apologized for the time wasted and the food that was never received. read more

I love Bon Chon chicken wings because they are big and juicy. That's their signature trade mark for their wings - big and juicy. However, the size of the chicken wings became very small - like the party wings size for our last two orders. At first, we thought Bon Chon must temporarily have issues with their chicken wings supplier. When I ordered the wings today, we still have the small size wings. If Bon Chon Pleasanton is changing the wings to smaller size, at least they should give more wings for per order. It's a rip off for the price - $1.40 for a tiny wing!! Due to COVID, we are ordering from this location at least once a week. We were extremely disappointed. I will go back to the other Korean Fried Chicken place which is only 1/2 miles away. read more

Had the worst experience here. We placed a take out order for some chicken & bulgogi tacos. We were told 20 to 25 minutes, so we went & picked up our other take out food (pizza). When we got back to pick up our order here they told us it would be another 20 to 30 minutes. We told them we already waited 30 minutes. We said we will cancel our order & then they bring out our food in 10 minutes. Well instead of bulgogi tacos they gave us a small container of bulgogi instead. She took it back & told us it would be a few minutes to correct it. Now we have already waited 50 minutes for 2 items. We decided to check the menu to make sure they charged us correctly for the tacos & realized they overcharged us by over $5. When I asked her to correct it, she was lost. I thought it was a bit expensive for about $20 for 3 tacos. It was taking so long that I told her just cancel the order of tacos & give me back my $20. It took 5 people to figure it out. REALLY!!! Come on, I wasted over an hour & got a lousy apology while my other food got cold! Take out orders beware, it's going to take a lot longer than they tell you & check you receipt! read more

I was dissatisfied. My mom and I are very much interested into the Korean culture and food, so you would think we were very excited to taste the new restaurant. As soon as we walked in the workers asked if we wanted take out or to dine in, we wanted to eat there. After a 10 minute wait ( there weren't more than 5 groups) the workers did not ask us for drinks, food, or bring water. I told my mom lets just order take out this is taking too much time and then more people got here. The people were barely getting attended after we ordered and everything which was a bit too much. The take out wait wasn't long and thank god we weren't hungry. The food was ok but the kfc was very good. I gave this 3 stars because of the service, but they just opened so I understand that they might not have experience. I would come back but probably take out because service is pretty slow, overall I think the food was decent. read more
