Bonchon is a hit or miss, meaning some people love it while some don't. Depends on who you're talking to. However, I'm still very glad they opened in Dublin (at the Pacific Pearl plaza)! Personally, I'm a big fan of their soy garlic fried chicken. Hence the 5 stars. I don't like their spicy flavor as much, but I have some friends that do (and also some that don't haha). I read that there's a sweet and crunchy flavor but haven't seen it on the menu ever. Would love to try though. Their family combo seems like a good deal. Parking shouldn't be an issue, especially during covid. Precovid it could get busy around dinner time Friday, and meal hours on the weekend. I made another take out purchase today and noticed indoor dining is back. I ordered the XL family meal as usual. The portion size have gotten smaller for the family meal. The double fries is now in one bag, the waitress said that the portion is still the same as before when it was given in two bags but I don't think so because I have ordered this Xl meal many times. My two clients invited me to try their store, Bonchon. I've had other versions of KFC before, but never like Bonchon except in Seoul. Not to expect a free meal, I used the Yelp app to order a family meal for me and my son in advance. Got the 1/2 Spicy and 1/2 Sweet Soy with pickled radish, of course. Upon arrival, I was greeted excitedly by my surprised clients and their staff. It a very clean store. I mean really tidy! It is a 30 minute drive home and yet the chicken was still warm and crispy. To my surprise, there was more in the box than I ordered. I gotta tell you, it did not go to waste! So delicious I had to slap myself! The spicy was just enough heat. The soy was fabulous too. Perfect with the sweet and sour daikon. Not greasy at all. Every bite fell off the bone. The chicken is definitely fresh. Some of the best chicken I've ever eaten! I'm all-in! This review is for service only, not about food or ambiance. Yesterday, I ordered chicken to be picked up at curbside at 11:30AM for my daughter's potluck at school. Around 11:10AM I received the confirmation email of the order submission. I was requested to call them 5 min prior to arrival, which I did. That's when I learned the order has NOT been processed. I was given options to cancel the order or to wait another 20 min and I had to accept as I could not wait. The person who took the call explained that they were not aware of the order due to a system error, but no apology. I got the impression that, since I was getting the refund, there is nothing for me to complain about. When I demanded an apology, the store person said, I could call her boss later today. I didn't request additional things other than a sincere apology and a refund (which was already promised), but I could not understand why I would need to make a SEPARATE call to her boss for a simple apology. I believe it is because the person who took the phone doesn't think the mishap had anything to do with her and that it's simply the system's fault. I am sorry, but when you speak to a customer, you represent the company at that moment. I understand that you would not have the authority to provide anything beyond the refund, but you could at least make a sincere apology. One of my favorite BonChon spots around east bay! My first time experience here was not the greatest since they forgot our order and we had wait a extra time 20-30 minutes. The lady was very apologetic and ask if we wanted drinks and gave us a coke. The second time around, it was a much younger nice gal who helped us out and everything went smoothly! Chicken is always made fantastic here! The chicken and radish combo is to die for! She told us sweet crunch was not going to be a flavor anymore in BonChon so that's a bummer! I was here for the first time with my girlfriends. I heard a lot from them about the fried chicken and hence decided to go here. The service was great as we didn't make any reservations. We walked in and we were seated. We ordered, fried chicken bulgogi and fries first as we were very hungry. Then we ordered Korean tacos and glass noodles. Delicious, the fried chicken came with radish which is cut like a sugar cube and delicious. The service was good and one thing to remember dogs are not allowed and they don't have outside seating. The wings are the stars at Bonchon. They make two flavors. One is a milder Asian flavor and the other one has a bit of kick. We have visited twice. The first time we got half and half. We really loved the mild flavor, so the second time we got a larger order of only the mild. While we enjoyed the spicy, if I want spicy wings I would go traditional Buffalo style at a Wing Stop or Buffalo Wild Wings. The restaurant is small, well-managed, and clean. K pop music videos for better or worse. No outdoor seating, but they keep the door open for ventilation. Other really good food was the beef tacos. Very filling and great flavors. We have tried popcorn shrimp, potstickers, and the French fries. The bibimbab looked appealing with a wide selection for meat. Since fried chicken is their specialty, I desired to go with their strength, Ordered the small combo (mix drumsticks and wings), half half sauces (soy and spicy), and coleslaw. The food was delivered piping hot. Starting with the coleslaw then one of spicy chicken. I must admit the wings are much more flavorful then meaty drumstick. It's probably a personal preference. Despite the two flavors, I thought the two taste very similar where the spicy has the same soy based but with a hint of spice, dry mild. So I go back but stick with the wings or try the bibimbab. The staff are friendly, despite not having a lot of people working; this might be the reason why service can be a little slow. I haven't tried dining in, but calling them and picking up for a dinner combo usually only takes up to half an hour. Our usual go-to is the Medium Combo with half and half. We had a great time eating here. This place is clean with bright lights, fast employees that take orders, serve, and clean up really fast which is great. I love the fact that a person occasion walks around making sure we're ok and have everything we need. My cousins and I went to Bonchon, service was fast. At the end when it came to pay, my cousins and I had left a cash tip on the table. I had went to the front to do card and since we left a cash tip I had put zero on the card. The workers look at each other and I ask if everything is okay. First time coming to this location. We came on a weekend evening. Parking lot was pretty busy. The restaurant was not too busy. We got our table right away. The restaurant is a bit noisy, with loud music bounding off the tiles and the walls. It was pretty hard to have a conversation. I prefer drumsticks over wings, so I like that they give you a choice. I usually get an order of their small drumsticks (5 pieces). I like the soy garlic sauce, but sometimes I would prefer the sauce on the side, which they said they do not do. But I did see an ad for a crunchy chicken bowl which caught my eye so I decided to try it. Got this an a small order of 10 pieces wings and a coke for $32 not including tip which I felt was pricey. I should of went just the wings and a side of rice. The bowl was ehhh. Not special, the rice was dry, didn't have big chunks of mushrooms like the picture. I'm not entirely sure I had any mushrooms unless those little brown specs were mushrooms. In the ad which they plastered in front and inside, the bowl has what appears to be at least 7 pieces of chicken that I can see but apparently the cook didn't get the memo and gave me 3 pieces. Spicy Chicken Wings - HUGE! the meat and bones are big compared to your usual 20 piece wings. those chickens were full grown for sure, even the cartilage was calcified. - crispy skin - suprising considering it was 20 pieces stuffed in a box - sauce - this is where it is lacking. there was barely any sauce on the wings, it was a dried out drizzle at best. it tasted sweet and slightly spicy, but no where near the bum-burner that the San Leandro location serves up. San Leandro will drench their wings in the sauce, making it sooo good. unfortunately due to the lack of sauce these wings were not so flavorful but, who doesn't love fried chicken? Ordered takeout on a Saturday night. BIG mistake. Ordered through Doordash and was told food would be ready in 15-30 minutes. Showed up 20 minutes after ordering, and waited 40 more minutes for take out! I understand that places get busy and order times can get long, particularly on a Saturday, but you need to inform your customers better about realistic wait times. While we were waiting, we heard other, equally-upset (but much more vocal) customers that waited as long, if not longer, for their takeout orders. The food, though, is good. We've tried the fried chicken drumsticks and wings (both mild and spicy) several times, and all are very good - one of the better Asian fried chickens in the area. The chicken pieces are generous in size, too. The french fries are also good (they are double-fried and very crunchy). Tried the beef bulgogi, and the meat was overdone; maybe the dish does not travel well. The seasoning was good, but by the time we ate it at home, the beef was too tough and dry. We enjoy the chicken and the eats. With SIP going on food for takeout is great with pickup and curbside options. However, I was disappointed with the option to have Curbside pickup as an option and it wasn't upheld. I placed an order ahead online with a specific time for pickup, about 1hr ahead of time. We got to the store and I clicked the link to notify "we're here". The link responded "we'll be out with your order shortly". I waited about 5-10min and nothing. Decided to go in to check on my order. And they told me that my order was not ready and it would take about another 25min! She told me that they were behind and that I will get a text when my order was ready. So 45min later from when my order was supposed to be ready. No Curbside, I had to go in store to pick up my order. I asked them about the curbside option and was told that they don't know how to change the time. Not really clear, but better to just stick to pick up option. Other than the pickup/curbside ordering experience, the food was good. -Family Meal: combo of wings and drums with even mix of soy garlic, spicy and sweet crunchy. Side of fries and coleslaw. Great option to share with the family. Everyone loved the flavors of the chicken. The chicken still was crispy when we got home. -Pork buns: these are great pork belly buns with a nice crunch from the coleslaw and cucumber. A hint of kick from the spicy mayo. -Takoyaki: nice soft fried dumplings with little chunks of octopus. -Potstickers: my daughters favorite. These are nice and crispy with a soy garlic glaze.
