We had just spent over 11 days traveling through Maine and Prince Edward Island eating the freshest seafood every day. We had some of the most devine lobster, chowders, and rolls. We didn't think anything could beat what we had, but after 11 solids days of travel, I have to say this is THE BEST CLAM CHOWDER I have ever had. Hands down, this is the best clam chowder I have had in my life. This even beats the clam chowder our family had in Seattle almost three decades ago that we still think and rave about to anyone that will listen. Truly, this place is something else. This was the busiest place in Faneuil Hall Market and, after eating their chowder, I can see why. We tried 3 or 4 different chowder places while in Boston and this ranked best among the quick service places. We also tried the hot lobster roll, which was delicious, but kind of expensive. Ok this particular Boston Chowda location is brutal compared to the other locations in the city. They pre make all the lobster rolls here so you don't get a warm crunchy Brioche bun like other locations particularly the Prudential Shops location that had a much better lobster roll and service. Got the Manager Special (lobster roll, small chowda and small drink) for $22.99 and the crabmeat salad roll $7.99. The combo was considering cheap when comparing to other lobster rolls in the area and plus you get the soup and drink for free! The clam chowda was very tasty not too creamy which that's how I like it. I have to point out that the crabmeat roll was very tasty and cheap for its price in that Fanuell Hall food court. I checked many other food stands there you can't get much food/sandwiches for $7.99. And hey the crabmeat roll was delicious! I gave it a 4star because I was expecting the lobster roll to be outstanding since I came across so many good ratings of it but in my opinion it is just another lobster roll. read more

Faneuil Hall is mainly for tourists but I still love it. Boston Chowda isn't the best clam chowda I've had but it's definitely in the top 5. Prices are reasonable and I wish I could comment on their other food but the only thing I've ever gotten from them is their chowda. As a side note, I didn't find this out until recently but this is not a small mom and pop place, they have other locations so it's a small chain (but still it's only a small local chain so I won't judge like it's Red Lobster or anything like that) read more

Love the food. Boston Chowda is located inside the famous Quincy Market. This building is filled with many different vendors selling all types of food and stuff. We decided to try out this place due to all the YELP reviews. Plus there a huge crowd around this place. We order at the counter, the guys behind the counter already expect you to know what you want. If not, they will move on to the next person. My husband and I order a lobster roll and a bowl of Chowda to share. Everything was delicious and we were full. We didn't order the lunch special. We order the bigger portions to share. Chowda is not the same in Boston and the west coast, but I love both. I love the creaminess texture of this soup and it was made perfectly with the right amount of thickness. The chowda was filled with goodness... Especially a good amount of Clams and potatoes. The lobster roll was filled with chucks of lobster. I mean pieces, not really shredded up. I feel like there a whole lobster tail in that sandwich. I understand that people think it's pricey, but you pay for what you get. The amount was coming out of the sandwich. As for seating inside Quincy market was a little hard, we got lucky and a couple was leaning and gave us their seat. I'm not from the area, so I really enjoy the food here. Tourist trap in downtown Boston. After reading previous yelp reviews I decided to venture down and give it a shot. I ordered lobster bisque and Maine crab salad. The bisque was excellent while the crab salad was kinda blah but it was filling as it was accompanied by grilled garlic bread. They had many other menu options and would have probably been better off trying something else. First, the line is quite long and this can be a good thing. It can be as good as that line is telling you or it can give you too high hopes. It was a toss up. The lobster roll was surprisingly good. After finishing up our Freedom Trail Walking Tour (highly recommend!) at Faneuil Hall, we decided to duck into the marketplace and wander around. Chowder was high on my to-eat list, so we smoothly slid into line and then double-checked on the Yelp app. Turns out, Yelp highly approves! And you guys did not fail me. I got the New England Clam Chowda and Corn Chowda and both came with a few packets of oyster crackers. There's a bit of space to eat your chowda if you walk down the hall - some seats and if they're taken, there are some standing tables as well. Both chowdas were extremely tasty and welcoming on a chilly night. I especially loved the clam chowda because it was filled with huge bites of clam. It was thinner than I expected, but my expectations mainly come from canned soup so that's not really reasonable or necessarily correct. I've yet to try chowder from other East Coast states, so perhaps I'll find that it's different in other places (this is likely). The oyster crackers were pretty salty, so maybe next time I'd lay off adding the whole packet at once into my clam chowda. For the corn chowda though, the crackers were just right. read more

My wife and I went to Boston Chowda today, May 1st, 2013, for lunch. We ordered the Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl, and it was promptly served to us with little hassle. The clam chowder is admittedly very tasty and excellent. The bread was a little stale, however. However, when I asked the server for a cup of tap water, he remarked that "they do not have cups of water." This was a lie, because I could see that the soda machine right behind him had a dispenser for water. I wasn't asking for free soda, I was asking merely for some water... is that unreasonable? Sorry, I consider this bad service if I can't even get some water. At least McDonalds will give you a whole giant cup of water (with ice too). read more

Located in the crowded Quincy Market, this place stands out for stellar clam chowda. The clam chowda was the only thing I had from here, so that's the only thing I can possibly review from them. The service was fine... It was a Monday so there wasn't a crowd around. The clam chowder was excellent. I had another bowl of chowder at Doyle's, but I preferred this bowl over that one. I found that the clams and potatoes really helped flavor it up. Whenever I'm back in Boston, I'm going to have to go back and give it another try, for their lobster roll. I guess they have a combo deal where you can get clam chowder with a lobster roll, but by the end of the trip, I was stuffed and not looking to spend more money. All reviews seem relatively positive for the combo though, so I look forward to trying that when I head back. read more

I was pretty hesitant to go here- but I had to of course, based off of the great reviews I saw on yelp. I didn't think they'd taste fresh, since the lobster used for the rolls were getting scooped out of containers- but I was so wrong! I ordered the hot&buttery roll and the clam chowder. The brioche bun used for the roll was super satisfying and went very well with the lobster. I'd take the hot butter spread ANY DAY over mayonnaise! Now for the clam chowder- I liked this a lot. Today, I tried three different clam chowders, and this definitely tied for first place. It wasn't salty at all and was a lot less creamier- perhaps it was more light, but still, amazingly rich in flavor. I guess you'd call it your healthier clam chowder alternative. Not my #1 place to go to for chowder, but it's definitely up in my list of rankings. My food was handed to me right away. In total, the chowder and the hot roll cost $29.99! This is such a bargain compared to other popular locations in Boston. Do yourself a favor and order what I did! read more
