I ordered the Special for 17.95 which included a Large Lobster Roll, soup and a small soda. The lobster roll was great and I had the lobster bisque which was also excellent. The lobster roll however was not anything to write home about. In fact I feel a little apathetic about writing this review because it was just "meh". Crazy busy place in Faneuil Hall market. It self proclaims itself as the best chowda in town. This place had the longest line compared to the other vendors, so that should be a good indicator of decent fast food. Opted for the medium New England clam chowda for $5.99. Being my first time in Boston, I've only had this clam chowder outside of here and it's always a thicker cream base broth. I liked this one as it's more of a watery broth. There was a decent amount of clams and potatoes (no bacon in this soup). The medium size was more than enough as it really hits you near the end. Lovely place for a quick meal. Now my favorite NE clam chowder in Boston. I was a little worried at first because it is right in Quincy Market, which is the biggest tourist trap in Boston, but I was pleasantly surprised! Gave this place a try since I was so disappointed with the Lobster Roll from their competitor a few stalls away (Boston & Maine Fish Co). Sampled their chowder, lobster mac & cheese, and lobster roll. The Lobster roll was good eats. Large meaty portions with just enough dressing. The guys down the street provided small pieces drowning in mayo! Chowder was good and decided to have another serving. Lobster Mac and Cheese was decent nothing to brag about. Guys are great, friendly, and honest. They actually suggest other places to get some grub instead of getting it in the square with higher cost. Came into Quincy Market with a bunch of friends last Saturday because we could all get whatever we wanted, then meet up and eat together, and maybe, MAYBE even share. Too bad 3 out of the 5 got the same thing. Boston Chowda's Lobster Roll. While walking through, we almost stopped at another Lobster Roll/Chowder spot within Quincy Market, but a random guy stopped us and said, 'Don't go here, go down more and get Boston Chowda's...less mayo...better bun' and then he scurried away into the crowd. For some reason, we listened to this 'weird, lobster man' and went to Boston Chowda and ordered away. There is a lot of lobster on this bun. For $14, I would hope there is a lot of lobster on this bun. However, this guy was right, because there wasn't a lot of mayo, just a little seasoned, big pieces of delicious lobster. On such a hot day, after playing some wiffle ball in Boston Commons then walking all over Boston, a nice cool Lobster Roll really hit the spot perfectly. I actually wish I had another one right now to enjoy, but unfortunately I don't, unless that 'weird, lobster man' somehow finds me once again. read more

I got the lobster roll and clam chowder combo. Both were tasty and satisfying but nothing out of this world. The lobster roll had a generous amount of lobster but could have used some more salt and pepper or anything to enhance the flavor. The roll was sweet and greasy in a good way. The chowder had great flavor but did not live up to the best chowder I've ever had when I was in Portland, Maine. I wish it would have been a little thicker instead of being so runny. There was no where to sit except outside by crazy street musicians. I just wanted to be civilized and eat a table but apparently that is too much to ask in the most touristy spot to eat and shop in Boston. read more

I was craving for a clam chowder when I got to Quincy Market with several friends and was recommended to try this place over others that also had clam chowders on the menu. I got the regular 'clam chawda' on the bowl of bread and it tasted pretty good for the price. You get the soup really fast as soon as you order with a plate underneath the bread because they come little bit spilled over. Very rude staff. We asked to taste the chowder ( as we saw the little tasting cups near the soop cups) and one of the staff (a young man) , with no smile, said "Sample? $5. There's nothing free in this world." What? How does this person even work there? I was planning to buy a lobster sandwich there and simply asked for a sample of their soup and he gives me That? Moreover, he did give a sample to my friend and ignored the fact that there were two of us. He should just find another job and take his miserable rude attitude with him. Visited Boston for the first time and decided to eat here because we wanted some good clam chowder. It was definitely good, a little thick for my liking and not as good as the fisherman's grotto in Monterrey, but still great! We also got oysters which had a nice presentation and very good. I also got the blackened mahi mahi which was AMAZING. The taste was melt in your mouth good. The mahi mahi will draw me back. Also, great customer service and romantic, classy atmosphere. read more
