Stopped for a bowl while I was in Boston ... and could not have been happier. So nice to find a cup of chowder made the right way with the right ingredients. Since I live in the midwest now, it is extremely hard to find anything that compares to a chowder done right. The bread bowls looked amazing as well. Got the New England Clam Chowda in a bread bowl. Now maybe this is what it's actually supposed to taste like, because it's the only place in New England that I've ever had chowder. However, I have to say, the similarly titled stuff I've had on the West Coast was way better. The chowder itself was not really chunky enough, especially lacking clam; taste was okay but again somewhat potato-heavy. The bread was also rather bland. I went to Boston this time with getting a bowl of chowder as my only aim. This location is in Quincy Market so you have to find seating (or standing) room to eat somewhere on the lower or upper center of the two arms of food booths branching out from it. I somehow ended up on the tail end of one of the historic Freedom Trail tours and they end it at this food court so it seemed pretty natural to stop here for a large bowl (not bread) for about $8. It's creamy, but not thick and surprisingly tastes like they use very little salt. It has some potatoes in it with plenty of very tender clams. Yet for some reason, it didn't blow me away as I expected it to. I think because I didn't pick up a very distinct flavor of any kind. Not enough clam juice perhaps? I love clam chowder but I think the Boudin bowl I had in San Francisco had the edge on this version of the New England classic. Pike Place evaluation forthcoming. read more

Meh. It's definitely a tourist trap. Wish I had done more research as this is an average place to get seafood. I had the Manager's special. It came with a Lobster Roll, which was well packed with Lobster claw meat but they're wasn't much flavor, no sign of onion or celery or anything just mayonnaise which made it greasy. I came to Boston chowder company with high hopes after my disappointing bowl of chowder at legal seafoods the night before. I was not disappointed. I got the daily special consisting of a cup of chowder, lobster roll, and a drink. The clam chowder was wonderful and is the main reason for this review. It tasted fresh and flavorful with lots clams. Out of the 4 chowders I have had so far, it is the best. The lobster roll has served cold and average. Too much mayo for my taste. So I am giving this place a 4 star because of its chowdas. There are so many kinds to choose from and they were all so delicious. I was there 3 days in a row during my 5 day stay in Boston. Why you might ask? The chowdas. The clam chowda was out of this world. The clams were fresh, not the previously frozen or can stuff. Just thinking about it now make me want to book another trip. The chowdas is more on the creamy side which I like and the ratio of the clams and potatoes were well balanced that I didn't feel like one was over taking another. I had also tried the lobster roll but was deeply disappointed. It was dry and it wasn't the texture that I desired. Chunks of lobster would have been preferred. But the chowda had won me over so I will be coming back. One of the advantage of eating at the Faneuil Hall is that you can pick and choose which vendor you like and create your own perfect meal! read more

I was born here!!!!!! Caribbean blood, But when it comes to my city!!!!!!!!!!!! I stopped in after a beautiful day of going shopping, can never know what to get. My favorite is the Lobster Roll and side of Chowda. The perfect amount of Mayo on the roll (is toasted), makes my heart melt its so fresh and good. Volume is very high and you HAVE TO BE READY TO ORDER. there's seats all over the place, on a nice sunny day, sit outside or on a nice warm night sit under the lights! This place is cool! In the heart of s super busy market with tons of food options. Close to cheers for all you touristy types, skip cheers and check this place out!Locals recommended the lobster roll from here and it did not disappoint! New England style which was warm in a brioche bun and dripping with butter! We headed out to a bench in the square to watch some street performers and proceeded to eat the bounty, The warm butter dripped down my wife's arm and she wasn't even mad! in a fun place, who doesnt like Fenuil Hall, but not the best in there. The lobster bisque is lacking serious flavor, more cream than anything else I think. Not worth it. The clam chowder in a sourdough, first doesnt come in a sourdough, and second, you only get one ladle-full, which is the same amount as a small/medium cup and twice the price just for the bread, which is too crusty and not a sourdough. Its bread, in the shape of a bowl, but just not what you're expecting. The chowder itself is very very thick, and again, a lot of cream. I expected more flavor. The lobster roll (we got the hot one) only had the bun going for it which was really nicely done. At first glance, it looks amazing, like theres 2 lobsters worth of meat in it, but at first bite, you realize you'd rather have half that meat if it meant it would have some real flavor and a better texture.
