Worst place ever! Went for just an oil change, they told me 45 minutes to an hour, so i was like ok I'll just go to Walmart to waste time. I come back after about a half hour thinking my car would be done soon, but no. I was there over two hours for just an easy oil change. After waiting an hour and a half I finally asked what the hold up was, the guy said it'd be out in a few minutes, that definitely didn't happen either. I paid and told them I'd never return. To top it of i had my 16 month son with me the entire time, needless to say after awhile waiting around was not so pleasant. read more

I used to come here a lot when I lived in the area because I clearly didn't know any better. Half of the time when I had a minor problem, everything was fine and work was quick and easy. When it was something more than an oil change, it was a disaster. The last time I went, which I made the absolute LAST time, they couldn't figure out why my fan wasn't kicking on and literally told me it would take NASA to figure it out. Real professional, guys. Which is hilarious, because I took it elsewhere 2 days later and it was fixed in 4 days, only because the part had to be shipped from overseas. I also recall a time where one of their grease monkeys walked me under my car and pointed out something to do with my brakes, so I scheduled an appt to handle whatever it was he was talking about and was told there was absolutely nothing wrong and they didn't know what I was referring to. I could never decide if they were just lazy, uneducated in their craft or thought I was an easy target because I'm a woman, but this place is a joke. The employees also use their only loaner car as a personal everyday driver. Proof of this was the amount of paperwork and briefcases left in the backseat, and when I brought it to their attention that the previous customer might have left personal belongings behind, one of the guys just chuckled and said it was his stuff. I want to start by saying I think mechanics and dentists are by far the two services I hate dealing with the most in life (I go to Mexico for my dental work because I can't deal with US Dentists anymore). That having been said, in a decade of doing business with them, from my first car to now, Brakes Plus is the only mechanic I have ever been to that I have never had a bad experience, ever. However, I have from time-to-time, chased deals from other chains and auto shops around the valley and almost every time I regret it and at least 1/3 of those times I ended up taking it to Brakes Plus to fix what the last place broke. And yet, it has taken until today for me to finally learn my lesson. To make a long story short I got a really good deal on a service package at a local chain and had it done. When I took my car in, everything was fine, I just wanted to service it as one should. After being made to feel bad about using the coupon I get my car back and it went from no problems to several. Suffice it to say it took 3 weeks of back and forth before I got everything solved but my, suddenly, warped rotors, were still a problem. A problem which this unnamed place was happy to fix for 300 dollars, cause I'd need all new everything. Obviously that wasn't going to happen so I went to Brakes Plus, as I should have from the start, and they said I needed resurfaced rotors and that they were more than salvageable. Now, it was here in the process that there was a break down in communication between me and the technician, one that I fully admit was at least half my fault (could be more I'm clearly not totally objective, but they had some piece to play). Anyway, more work ended up done than I had intended and obviously the price was much higher than I had anticipated as well. However, what could have been, and frankly would have been, a nightmare elsewhere was solved in less than 5 min both amicably and generously on their part. Not only that but not once did Manager Allan, nor the guy who helped me (who's name I forgot sorry), make me feel stupid or put down or anything but a valued customer. Which to be honest, in this case, they would have been somewhat justified in doing. Regardless, I have learned my lesson, it only took ten years, but from now on if Brakes Plus can do it, that's where I'll have it done. read more

Brake Plus cashier said if I didn't get my car serviced there his manager would charge me for the free brake inspection. When asked again if they do or do not give a free brake inspection the cashier said no it's free then continued to take my key (very suspicious being contradicting about price, so I decided they were too sketchy to do business with). Then I found out they put back on my tires with a impact wrench and did not properly torque spec the tires; so tight in fact the mechanic said i'm lucky it didn't cause further brake and rotor damage. read more

Long story: My wife took our car to another location(Surprise) and they stripped the filter housing on the car, and so they told us we could bring it back and they would sell us the part and install it for us! WOW Really? So needless to say we took it to the Avomdalelocation where Mark Purcell is the "Owner/Manager" I have had our van there before and they never have tried to upsell me anything EVER! Allen explained the work involved and if I had any questions or concerns before his technicians started the work. During the alignment work, Allen told me that a part was needed to complete the process and kept me posted on the progress. After the work was done, Allen explained the total cost for the alignment, and included a discount as a new customer. The service that I received from Brakes Plus was excellent and Allen and his crew were outstanding. My truck runs great down the road and Brakes Plus has me as a permanent customer. Brakes Plus should do training in customer service! They ease the pain of bringing a car in for service with their customer service. I've done at least 7 jobs there (mostly oil changes), but from the moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave, the customer service is at it's best! I brought my car in for a planned brake inspection/job today. I had a 3pm appointment and went there straight from work and got there at 2pm. They took the car within 5 minutes of me walking out the door, had the inspection done within 45 minutes, shot me straight with the estimate, started the work by 3pm and after Googling how long it would take for a brake job to get done (1 hour, 15 minutes to 2 1/2 hours) I figured I'd be there for another 2 hours. Within the hour, the brakes were done, the bill was paid and out the door I went... They must have offered me water at least 3 times. And the water was icy cold! The waiting room is clean and they have entertainment and WiFi. Every associate was professional, friendly, and straight-forward with every client interaction they had (I watched it!). Felt super-confident that what was being told to me wasn't a sales pitch. It feels like they have my best interest (and their business) in mind! Imagine that! A great way to keep customers! Don't get me wrong. I'm sure they talk up the discounts and the "this is what I'm gonna do for you" spiel, but the prices were right in line with what I expected and what's posted. So, if you want to give me what I feel is "good customer service" and "honest prices" (which is what customer's should expect), that's fine by me! As long as the work is done correctly. My final bill was actually even lower then the price which was told to me was a discounted price. IDK, seemed like a fair, if not good price to me for the job which was done. I had one minor issue with this place. One visit, I asked for prices for new windshield wipers and they gave me a quote. When I got there to pick up my car, they ran my debit card and overcharged me for the wipers. When I questioned it, they told me they couldn't reverse my transaction, but they made it up to me by giving me a free oil change which I used on my next visit. No fuss, no muss. They caused a problem, but they remedied a problem. Voila! I'm sure there's 1 hiccup every now and again (which is what would be expected when you work on hundreds of cars) and of course, if someone has something bad to say, let's write a review (God forbid someone get some praise every now and again for good work), but don't let a bad review deter you. Brakes Plus has good customer service, honest prices and makes the stress of getting a car serviced, less stressful! Good job today gentlemen! read more

Great service, more than reasonable pricing. My car was next to being put on the scrap heap, and they were able to get it working again. I had two very expensive services that needed to be done and when quoted by other shops, those other shops wanted significantly more money. Even though the service at Brakes Plus cost less, the quality of service was top notch. My car drives better now that it has in many years. Almost feels like a new car drive. The customer service at this specific Breaks Plus in Avondale is beyond exceptional and recomendable for anyone looking for trustworthy specialist. I Came here to change my Pontiac G6's very damaged breaks and rotors. After inspecting my car himself, Hector gave me the best price in comparison to all shops including small family owned shops and was able to work with my budget in order to get my car to a safe drivable condition. I know my car needed much work besides the breaks but Hector and his manager didn't push on any service just made sure I was driving out of here safely with replaced breaks and rotors and educated me on the condition and safety of my car for future repairs. They even replaced my non working car battery that I had to jump start every morning before work! I'm forever grateful for the honesty and integrity hector and his manager demonstrated today in making this experience a blessing as I know these things arnt cheap. took my car in just for a simple oil change but supposedly my car needed more work on that just the oil change, so obviously i had to trust them so i let them do the work on my car, next thing you know my car overheated that same day i got it back, we had took it back to brakes plus to see what happened and the radiator hose they said they "fixed" wasn't even put on all the way correct so it caused my car to overheat. They fixed it again, next thing you know the power steering that was "fixed" wasn't even fixed, so we took it back again because we paid for it to get fixed, before i dropped it off they told me i will most likely need transmission work on my car soon as well, but i told them no just the power steering. I get my car back that day and the funny thing was my car all of a sudden started shaking and not wanting to drive anymore and now all of a sudden i need transmission work asap.. they just rip you off there !! read more

Mark and his team are very friendly and knowledgeable. We got an oil change, front brakes and front differential service. When we got the Jeep back, it had a nice little shimmy going on when we hit 50 mph. Took it back and they checked it out right away and determined that it needed another part replaced. They took care of it right away at no charge. That was amazing to me! While we were waiting, I noticed how well they were taking care of the other customers also. I called and made appointment for 8 am Saturday. Dropped car off and I get a call at 145 asking if they can keep my car thru Monday because they are running out of light. I said no you said you would need car all day and I assume that here its 6 hrs later and u have not started. That said sorry no. Explain why I had appointment. I was told alot of people had appointment. I said you should only have as many appointments as you have bays for 8 am. This is crap. My car is leaking and the leak shorted out an alternator so they replaced on Tuesday. I needed my car fixed. I am very unhappy. It appears they double booked or forgot about my car.
