In the spirit of wanting local businesses to succeed, I wanted to share some honest feedback. Drinks are a huge part of the breakfast experience--whether it's coffee, chai, or matcha. As a matcha enthusiast, I was excited to see it on the menu, especially at such a cute breakfast spot that was beautifully celebrating Pride. Unfortunately, the Matcha Latte was disappointing. It tasted mostly like sweetened milk, with very little matcha. It made me wonder whether the recipe has been tested against the quality matcha drinks available elsewhere. The breakfast itself was decent, though I was surprised that my meal came with only a single slice of toast cut in half. Came here on a Saturday morning for brunch around 10am and luckily there was not too many people. We were sat down immediately and started to order. We were attended to and ask if we needed anything throughout our brunch. We had multiple water refills . Went on a Saturday morning and surprisingly it wasn't too busy nor was there a long wait which was nice. Service was not the most attentive but our server was very nice and allows us to split the check 4 ways which is always a plus when eating out with multiple people. I was recently introduced me to this hidden gem and I was not disappointed. We had the option of being seated indoor or outdoor. The ambiance outside wasn't very appealing so we decided to sit indoor. I ordered the shrimp and crab cake Benedict. The flavor was deliciously surprising. It was some sort of jam in between the crab cake and that honestly made the sandwich 10/10. All the flavors blended perfectly together. The potatoes were also very good, I enjoyed the light crisp. Really loved this breakfast spot and I was surprised to learn they had multiple locations. Only downside was the parking. They have a very small parking lot so you have to find a spot on the street and depending on the day and hour, it can be a little tough. No reservations needed, came on a Sunday morning and we were seated fairly quickly. Service was good, no complaints. I really liked the menu because they use high quality eggs and a variety of options. After searching for good breakfast spots in LA, I found this cozy and casual place. Parking was a bit confusing at first--the entrance looks like it's on Sunset, but that lot is for Citi Bank. Their parking is very limited and located on the Park Ave side. I ordered the chilaquiles and the French toast sampler, which included a limited-time coffee pancake. The food wasn't as warm as expected, but overall everything was still enjoyable. I didn't really care for the beans, but the rice was very good. The names and ingredients are pretty straight forward. The omelets are prepared with 3 eggs a side of house potatoes and a choice of bread. Butter and a house jam. Nothing fancy, no culinary revelations, but very well prepared, very fresh and satisfaction with every bit and bite. I originally sat down with a plan to eat half and save the rest for later but plan derailed. It's the kind of good that I felt I needed to enjoy while it was at its peak flavor profile haha! You'll find cocktails and other drinks on the menu also they have a full bar. Decided put their bar to the test and topped the meal off with an espresso martini. No regrets. Something fun: Went to the restroom and Joni Mitchell's "Don't know what you got til it's gone" was playing, and as I flipped the latch to lock the door a message interrupted the song. Arrived at the restaurant during the week and everything started off fine. The place looked good, service was friendly at first, and we were seated without any issues. Things went downhill once the food came out. I ordered the chilaquiles with carne asada and three over easy eggs, and my mom ordered the French toast with strawberries with a side of two over medium eggs. When the plates came out, my eggs were over medium and hers were over easy. We let the waitress know, and instead of remaking them, her solution was to switch the eggs between our plates. That didn't really work since my order came with three eggs and hers only had two. She then offered to bring an extra egg, which could have been fine, but by that point my mom's eggs had already been placed on top of my chilaquiles and were touching the onions, which she does not like. At that point it just wasn't worth fixing anymore so I ended up going without eggs. On top of that, the carne asada tasted old and didn't have much flavor. I really enjoyed Breakfast Republic, I am pescatarian and I don't eat poultry or dairy, breakfast is usually my most difficult meal of the day. I love that they have options for me, in a box that is easy to view so I don't have to go searching for my options. I ordered the tres leche pancakes with just egg...phenomenal. The friend I was with ordered loaded breakfast Mac and cheese, and while I was concerned about the toppings, when their food came out, it looked delicious. Loved the service and the special sauce they sell ( the person I was with could not leave until we purchased a bottle). I came here on a whim while in the Silver Lake area. It's not very big but it is a very cute restaurant with breakfast themed decor including chairs that look like eggs. The staff were friendly and welcoming and attentive. I only had one dish which was the chilaquiles. It was very good. I appreciated that instead of a whopping amount of chips (which is typical) the dish had a just right amount of chips and included rice and beans. It's still perfect for sharing though. Had this on my list of places to try for brunch, and finally decided to go and check it out. There was a wait in Sunday which is to be expected. Was about a thirty minute wait, so not terrible. There are no reservations and it is first come, first served. Tried calling ahead to get in a wait-list but no answer. Either way, 30 minute wait and we were in. Plenty of choices for food, so we tried a few to get a good idea of the cuisine. First out was the French toast trio. They banana split French toast was very flavorful, with bruleed bananas, vanilla ice creams, walnuts and chocolate drizzle. Had some nice texture with that brulee and the walnut for crunch. Just a nice bite. The s'mores French toast tasted like you were biting into a smore. While it was good, it wasn't my favorite on the plate. That designation went to the limited time berry crumble French toast, which is stuffed with a berry compote and topped with a brown sugar crumble, vanilla ice cream and berry sauce. Was, by far, the best of the French toast IMO. The crab and crawfish cake benedict was also very good, has nice flavor to the crab cake itself. The eggs were overpoached, however, so cutting out then you didn't get that gush of yolk you expect. Instead it was more of a soft boil inside. So that was disappointing. And the chilaquiles were also recommended, and they did have good forgot to them. The issue I had was that the tortilla chips were all might, having been covered in red salsa. So you didn't get that texture crunch that you would want from the tortilla chip. Also, my eggs were sunny side up but they also were a little overcooked so they didn't run out when cutting into them. Overall, people were nice, food had flavor, but there were some execution issues we had with a couple of the dishes themselves. So we decided to come by with my sister after volunteering the Rosebowl half so it was pretty early at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday 4/27/25. Parking: Street Parking in the front. They have a small lot but not enough when the neighborhood wakes up. They have a flea market at the Taix parking lot so parking was pretty crunched even at that time. Food: 4/5 and prices were $$. The food was just ok. Either it was too early but for some reason it didn't blow my socks off. The coffee was pretty strong but it was kind of bitter. We had the mascarpone strawberry french toast and that was a little more than ok. I had the seasonal vegetable scramble and that was pretty good and my sister had the shrimp and grits. She liked it but the eggs were overcooked. Customer Service: 5/5 The host and waiter were friendly and we sat down pretty quick since there was plenty of seating. Food and coffee came out right away. The waiter was attentive and checked on us several times for refills or anything we might need. Ambiance: 4/5 I love the decorations and theme. They sell cups and memorabilia in case you want to take something home. Some people in the booth next to us decided to take some stuff home. I have been to the Breakfast Republic in San Diego and was expecting the food to taste similar but it wasn't. Walking around the area before heading to DTLA, decided to try since they open at 7 (really like 7.15 but its ok) Walked into an empty place with 2 patrons and one waiting for food. The menu outside looked good, so I knew what to order, breakfast burrito subbing carne asada for all-in bacon. Came served with black beans (good) and Spanish rice (reheat, not good, tasted like bulgur.) The burrito is gigantic; had trouble finishing half and I'm a heavy eater. Requested crispy bacon (twice) it wasn't, (fatty and undercooked) mashed in and scrambled with the egg; I like more whole-cut, separate pieces in the burrito so I can taste and feel the crunch; wasn't possible here just one big glob with the potatoes and cheese all fused together, too much potatoes overloading the burrito. In all, for 23 bucks with tax n tip no drink, wanted something more desirable. It's not bad at all, but nothing to come back for. House hot sauce and unique house made ketchup bottles at table are nice, but this dish really sorely needed a Pico de Gallo, but just wanted to be done with and leave. Been driving past this place for years and I finally had the opportunity to stop and enjoy breakfast. As soon as you come in the place feels like home. There is plenty of seating considering how small the place is. I was there at 8 ish on a Tuesday morning and the place was already full. With only 3 waiters I was surprised at how fast they moved. The inside can be a bit overwhelming, especially on weekends, with limited space (it's pretty boutique). I'm guessing we would've had a 15 minute wait if we wanted to wait it out for indoors, however the weather was basically perfect and I noticed their more spacious patio, one I'd recommend for dining in options. We sat for about five to ten minutes outdoors eyeing over the online menu, but were brought physical ones are well. Drink orders were put in first, with food to follow. Having spent the morning walking about Echo Park Lake for a few laps we found ourselves more than ready for B.R. - I went with the Jammin Benne, this plant-based take on eggs benedict that blew me away. My guy had the local favorite - Chilaquiles, plus fresh hot Breakfast Republic Blend coffee. Food was great. Portions perfect. Service was solid. Everything was reasonable and we agreed we'd come back next time. Q Tips: Outside patio - while ideal are a bit dusty - as are some of the menus as a result. They do their best to dust when possible. We started off with the Prosecco bottle and put the order in since we were ready when the waiter came by. Our server was nice but seemed a little overwhelmed. All nothing wasn't too bad. Con is nothing. I wouldn't say it's over the top which isn't bad. Sometimes you just want a good meal where you leave full. That's what this place is to me! read more
