Cute Cafe with low ceilings and wood floors. Busy during the peak hours of the morning but worth the wait. Breakfast menu has plenty of variety with hearty dishes like the Buffalo Pies! This place seems like a lot of hype. The food was just OK. I ordered the veggie salad and to be honest it was weird... Raw spinach, lukewarm veggies on top, processed cheese that melted and stuck to the veggies, sunflower seeds... The piece of salmon I had them add was super small and left me hungry. Positives? We have been coming here for years. They are a big supporter of Veterans and open their restaurant once a year to Veterans and their spouses. We are so appreciative of their support. My son loves getting their hot chocolate with whip cream. My favorite is their buffalo chicken wrap. Get it with crispy chicken and skip the salad and get the fries instead. Grab a beer while you are here and enjoy. They also have a great kids menu. Customer service is wonderful. read more

We went here based on the Yelp reviews. We got here on a Thursday around 12:30 and there was a line of people waiting to get seated. They cleared the tables pretty quickly and got everyone seated within reason. My wife had the rueben, kids had grilled cheese and I had the spinach salad with chicken on top. Rueben was good as was the grilled cheese. Food came out timely. The spinach salad was tasty but really really small. I expected more for $9. It was pretty much a side salad. It came in a small side salad bowl, and had one piece of romaine lettuce underneath. It's a trick restaurants use to "fluff" up the bowl, making it look larger than it was - if I wanted romaine lettuce I would have ordered a ceasar salad. On top of it was a small handfull of spinach, candied walunts, cranberries, some feta cheese and half a chicken breast. I finished it in about a dozen bites. I asked the waitress and she said that this is just how the spinach salad comes. When I looked around I saw the other salads that other people ordered were more normal sized for salads. The rest of the food looked good. I just left not full and a little disappointed. read more

I had not eaten here for several years. The last time I just didn't care for their version of Mexican food. Tried it again tonight and was pleasantly surprised to see the menu was different. There are a lot more diverse choices it seems. I had the Cajun biscuit and gravy. It's a biscuit with a slice chicken breast and smothered in a spicy cream sauce full of sausage bits. It sounds weird but was great. I'd order it again. My friend had the stroganoff and said it was very good as well. It's nice to see the Buffalo does a nice dinner. It's always been the place to go for breakfast, but now it's also a nice option for later in the day as well. read more

Food is always great and quick, but the service is always awful :-((( We keep giving them a chance and today was the worst yet.

My burger was plain. I couldn't taste seasoning or the meat. Bland at best, no onion?, and the lettuce was dinky, Wilted and brown on the edges. We had to ask for coffee multiple times and got it after the meal as we were leaving. We came for the pancakes... but no pancakes after 11:30am. Don't think well be back. The food and service was great. I had a Buffalo pie, which was lots of food. The spicy sausage was fantastic. My son devoured the biscuit and gravy. My daughter inhaled her pancakes, and my wife loved her French Toast. I had the coffee, which was the Montana Coffee Traders Buffalo blend, and is my new favorite coffee. I'll likely be getting it mail order. Our server was attentive, quick and took great care of us. Would be a regular if we lived relatively close instead of 2000 miles away! read more

Great place to eat. A friend bought us a gift certificate for here for Christmas. We just moved here from Seattle area. The food was great. I had fish and chips and my husband had a gyro. The service was excellent also, which is hard to find in Seattle. We had apple pie for dessert which is made at the bakery next door topped with homemade icecream from our favorite place down the road. We will definately go back and take our friends when thy come visit!!! read more

Ate breakfast here while waiting for a delayed train. It was exactly what we wanted: standard breakfast fare, good coffee, and a laid back small-town vibe. Friends and family and I had breakfast here on the recommendation of other Yelp diners after a long night on the train from Seattle to Whitefish. What can we say? It was excellent! We had a large group, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Our waitress was adorable and the food was outstanding. The menu had eclectic choices for breakfast-- regular items such as pancakes and waffles and omelets and biscuits and gravy, but other, more individualized selections like pork verde huevos rancheros and a veggie-styled burrito with eggs. Coffee was free-flowing. This was a simple, down-home, traditional homestyle diner with flavorful food and, according to my male companions, a really cute waitress who served us (and she was really nice). If you pass through Whitefish, this is a definite stopping point. We loved it! read more

We went for dinner....EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!! Together we had (kids) grilled cheese and salad- my boy loved it! Ate every piece!! Husband had the chicken pesto and it was delish (I snuck a bite or two) ;) I had the Mac and cheese!!! Yummmmo!!!!! A must is the chips and salsa!!! The chips are seasoned and out of this world!!!!! Just finished classic breakfast sitting at the bar area. So easy to support local when coming to awesome restaurants like the Buffalo Cafe. Service with genuine smiles and perfect amount of attention. Delicious made-to-order food even when busy. Huckleberry pancakes were fluffy and flavorful. Ample portions. Over easy eggs, tender KC bacon, spicy sausage and hash browns will have us returning. Impressively clean and organized. You can tell the owners and staff care about the restaurant and the customer experience. Not one thing my husband and I can think of worth mentioning to improve upon. read more

You can tell that this is a well-loved local watering hole due to the wait, and the food is good, if a little greasy. However, this is totally what you would expect from a coffee shop. I had the patty melt, which was great and served on dark rye with choice of cole-slaw or fries - I opted for the slaw, but tasted the fries and they were great. Love this place! Had the biscuits and gravy meal- comes with two eggs, hash browns, and a massive biscuit with a sausage patty loaded with obviously homemade gravy. YUUMMY. The only thing I will say is it was extremely salty, but I'm not the kind of person to put tons of salt in my food so for some people they might not have a problem with it. Great service and didn't have to wait long to get a table. Definitely looked like a place locals frequented- always a good sign in my books.
