Squared family size from Pedro location. This version isn't really my cup of tea.
Mellanie A.

If I had to choose my favorite pizza in all of Long Beach, it'd definitely be Buono's (with Pizza x Two being a close runner-up). Both locations on Willow and Ocean have never failed to satisfy my pizza craving. The pizza is doughy, cheesy, and extremely flavorful. Their mozzarella sticks are also the absolute best I've ever had. Super crunchy, cheesy, and simply heavenly. If I wasn't watching the wallet and waistline I'd be dining here more often. Service has always been great and I've never had any complaints or bad experiences over the years. However, I've been to their newer location in San Pedro and I wasn't fond of how they cut up their family-sized pizzas. The LB locations serve the traditional round sized pie whereas the Pedro location will serve a family-size as one of those square pizzas cut up in awkward slices. The wait time that day was also noticeably longer than usual which was also a con. Due to those minor hiccups I'll just be sticking to the original locations. The ambiance and interior on Willow is more of a family-friendly vibe compared to the upscale style of the Buono's on Ocean. I still enjoy dining at both though and don't have a personal favorite as these two locations uphold consistency in their food/service. My go-to order for the fam & I is the family-sized pizza with pep & sausage along with an order of the mozzarella sticks. The chicken parm sandwich is pretty decent as well but nothing necessarily mind-blowing. I occasionally stop by for their lunch buffet that currently runs Wed-Fri from 11am-2pm. Their buffet includes endless pastas, salad and pizza so you'll definitely be getting more bang for your buck. Overall, Buono's is a solid 5/5 and I'd recommend this establishment to anyone.

Gingerbread Man pizza!

Visited Buono's in Long Beach a few months after returning from Italy. We were delighted to find they carried our favorite wine! It was the Christmas Season and they were offering a Gingerbread Man pizza. I love, love, love Gingerbread men so of course we ordered. Also, we were hoping to catch an NFL game on t.v. That night. Initially they didn't think they were able to accommodate but they did! Food was delicious, wine was amazing and the atmosphere vibe was great.

Big trash behind pizzaria !

I placed my order around 10:50 AM. The driver arrived to pick it up at 11:56 AM, and it still wasn't ready! They told him it would take another 20-plus minutes--a complete lack of manners and disrespect toward others, since the order was supposed to be ready by 11:30 AM at the very latest. The pizzeria was empty, so I ended up waiting another 45 minutes inside the shop. The pizza itself was very thin, with hardly any toppings! All in all, it's not worth the price they charge. Here's a tip: better organization would be a good idea for the employees working the front counter; they don't even say "good morning," nor do they offer a glass of water to make up for a 45-minute wait that went well beyond the promised time! Be genuine--that's how your business will truly prosper!

Spaghetti and meatballs
Ben L.

Ordered takeout spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread. It was fire! Tasted like I was in Little Italy in New York. Portion size was excellent the meatballs were great and I got a 2 for 1 deal! I highly recommend that you try them. If the flavor is that good with takeout imagine when you get the full treatment when you dine in!

Burned Zucchini Log
Sassy J.

This is my go-to restaurant for pizza! The pizza is fresh, with homemade sauce and plenty of cheese. This visit was a let down. I ordered zucchini and the waitress brought out a plate of burned, overcooked zucchini logs. When I told her they looked burned, she responded, "They are fried zucchini." I still don't know what she meant by that. Plus, they hid the extra burnt pieces in the bottom of the stack Disappointed that Buono's would serve such substandard food. I hate to drive 30 miles to a restaurant, just to be dissatisfied.

Tried again and wasn't much better. Lasagna was watery and lacked flavor. Meatballs tasted like leftovers. Salad was decent this time.

Didn't try to pizza but the meatball sandwich was loaded and definitely worth stopping by. Can't wait to try the pizza.

We'd be happy to come down again in traffic, because it's absolutely worth the drive here. Some find the pizza sizes small or the prices high in comparison to your average pizza joint - but your average, everyday pizza place in California is just...ew. Their crust is very thin, Neapolitan style in a brick oven, beautiful and a little chewy, slightly-charred from the brick oven. Amazing texture. Traditionalists, so we just got the Margherita and Bianco, adding some mushrooms and a drizzle of truffle. SOO good. We also tried the fried zucchini blossoms, which were very light and not oily at all. Caesar salad was very delicious and fresh, also had the octopus, which was perfectly grilled and like eating steak. To finish, we had some amazing coffee with tiramisu. Wow. Not usually a fan, but their tiramisu was super light, not overly sweet, and super good. Thanks to our wonderful server, Diana ! Super friendly and everything came out quickly. Eveything is delicate, fresh, lovely, and makes you feel like you're in Italy. Can't wait to be back. Tutto bene, grazie!

It was very easy and a very short walking distance They are only open for dinner (they open at 4 pm) They have a really good happy hour menu (4-5:30) They have a really nice wine menu and they have a full bar This place is really great for special occasions. I loved the upscale New York atmosphere Our lovely waiter, Scott immediately greeted us. I was so happy we had him. He was so knowledgeable about the menu, the building, making small talk and etc. when I asked what drink he recommended he said they have a full bar, but he did say the espresso martini. I told him that's my go to drink but I can't really do caffeine. So Scott had it made decaf. This was a life saver and it was the first time a waiter ever asked if I wanted it decaf We already knew what we came for. We wanted their tomahawk. This is where my mother and I usually have beef with each other (yes, a steak joke). Because we each want it cooked a different way. But it came out nicely done, we were both happy. Scott definitely knew what to tell the chef about how we wanted it cooked so we were both happy The drinks I ordered came out extremely fast Both drinks were amazing -cosmopolitan -espresso martini (decaf) The- BISTECCA DI TOMAHAWK Which is a Grilled 52 oz Bone In Ribeye Steak, Italian Chimichurri Sauce, Roasted Carrots and Homemade Spaghetti Romana (the pasta it came with was absolutely amazing) And, as far as tomahawks go, this was very reasonable price wise. Also, it came with pasta and carrots. Most places just sell the steak by itself and you have to pay for sides -they brought out a complimentary bread basket -we also ordered a side of broccoli -we did not order dessert, but they did bring out a complimentary birthday dessert The service was great The building is beautiful The atmosphere was great The food was amazing Overall, I would come back, but I would reserve it for special occasions. I'd love to come back and try their pasta

Our food today, Michael's Burger with handout fries, N'Daju Toast, and The Benedict. Cocktails today, Ciacco D'oro and a Mimosa. Cappuccino and coffees were great. Cocktails at Michael's are excellent. Definitely one of the best places in Long Beach for a cocktail! Creative and consistent. The burger is the best one in town if you are craving that juicy type of burger, which I was. Done perfectly. I order it rare, they know how to serve it rare! Now served with handout fries instead of chips, still amazing! We finished our meal with a wonderful Gelato, on the house! Mint chip and just amazing! Looking forward to more Brunches and of course happy Hour!

Let's start with the win: the burger was "the best he's had in a long time"--which says a lot. Kudos on the burger! The banana smoothie also got a thumbs-up. Everything else? Meh. The pancake was okay. The scrambled eggs were... weird. Tiny little egg bits that had me wondering, are these real eggs? I asked for crispy bacon; it wasn't, so I couldn't eat it. The breakfast potatoes tasted reheated--no crisp, not much flavor, no joy. And the London Fog? Don't expect Starbucks loveliness. The plain black coffee was better. I also had the grapefruit juice, it was bitter, but tasted fresh squeezed, which I appreciate. Service was good. My server saw that I didn't eat my food and tried to make it better. The venue is nice, but if you're coming for great food--burger aside--we didn't find it here. The velvet chairs are comfortable and beautiful, but the stains and spills were evident. I was worried when I sat down about what was on the chairs getting on my dress. Overall, it's a place we'd only return to if we were craving that burger, everything else was a fail. I left hungry. Last morning here at the Fairmont. Tried breakfast at Nettuno again... disappointed and leaving hungry again. This time we had oatmeal (needed to add water, so dry we stuck the spoon in it and it stood straight up and didn't fall over), fruit (good), boiled eggs (took 20 minutes), and the avocado toast with a fried egg. It was not good. The menu says it comes with kale, but I received mixed greens with it, not kale and the flavor was bad. It's hard to make bad avocado toast, but they did. Disappointing. Plus, service was very slow today. Our order came out incomplete and out of order. The atmosphere is beautiful, but this restaurant has a lot to work on to be worthy of its prices and the Fairmont brand. Second fail.
