I have to limit myself to one visit every two weeks for the sake of my waistline LOL. So glad I live close to Cafe 86. I order their Upside Down Halo Halo, with Ube ice cream on top (normally, it's vanilla ice cream). The hubby loves their butter bar and Ube Milkshake, and I love picking up some crinkle cookies each time for the week. Sometimes I'll grab their cupcake/flan - delicious!! Their flan is not too sweet and has a perfect texture. The only thing that hasn't really hit the spot there is the ube cheesecake. It's still a delicious ube dessert but it doesn't have that cream cheese/cheesecake flavor I crave when I'm craving cheesecake. But it's ok because I have so much other stuff to order!! I wish they had their halo-halo on their Doordash menu--it's odd that it's the one thing not available, but I guess it's good for my self-restraint, and I wonder if it's because it won't travel well. This was everything and more I could have ever imagined for a Filipino and Ube-inspired dessert cafe. Just walking in was already quite the experience, as the line spanned out past the entrance door and the menu is organized and displayed beautifully right inside the store so that you can quickly and easily decide your order before you make it to the cashier. I had ordered the Upside Down Halo-Halo (not pictured) and the Ube Poptart. The Halo-Halo was absolutely delicious with all the various toppings, with even boba included in the topping! The ube was so sweet and satisfying, with the perfect crunch from the toppings. The Ube Poptart was okay as I wished that the poptart itself was more soft and buttery, but tasted crumbly and doughy. The base was basically an ube milkshake and the toppings added some cool texture. I liked the ube tres leches the most. It was super moist and the frosting on top tastes like mashed ube. I'd say the cheesecake and truffle tied for second place. I really like the crust of the cheesecake and the truffle has good flavor and texture. The flan cupcake was okay. This was my first time trying Cafe 86 and I loved everything about it! We ended up trying the Ube ice cream, Ube milkshake, Ube latte, Ube pop tart, Ube crack cheesecake, Ube tres leches, and lastly the halo halo. Our favorites were the Ube tres leches and Ube crack cheesecake. Everything tasted phenomenal! Nothing was too overpowering or sweet. Even the Ube milkshake was well-balanced, light, and refreshing. The only thing I wouldn't recommend would be the Ube pop tart it wasn't tasty and a bit bland. If you're looking for ube flavor then anything else will do. The staff was accommodating and friendly. The young woman and gentleman were very helpful when it came to picking out things to try, recommendations, and answering our questions. They would make it a point to ask us questions, listen, and help us choose what to get. They never rushed us and made us feel welcomed and cared for the young man was nice enough to give my boyfriend and I a little bit more ice cream since we were sharing :)) Overall it was one of the best ube treats and experiences we've had in the mainland. read more

I go here all the time for the Ube. I lived in the Philippians so I grew up eating Ube. When I found a spot that actually had it, I had to check it out. I walked in and was a greeted by someone with the best smile and attitude ever. Id later find out his name was Josh. Unfortunately Josh is gone as he's headed to take on a new chapter in his life, but it's fortunate how much of an impact he's made on the people he comes in contact with. First time trying cafe 86 as I never went to their Cali location. Would absolutely try their one drink next time. Though for a one place, I wish they used fresh ube ans not powder ube? I could be wrong. Had their Tiger Tea (more Thai tea than milk tea) and the Mermaid (jasmine sea salt something - it's just alright). Writing this as I sit here enjoying my one milk tea. The one flavor in the milk is perfect. It isn't like other places where you get the purple but barely taste the ube. Also just demolished this halo halo bread pudding. You can taste all the flavors in that bread pudding! My wife had the ube milk shake and the cookie crumbs added into it made the drink that much better. My son ordered the Milo milk tea which he says is ok, could be better. Overall the things we ordered tasted really good! The service was great. Mind you we came on a Wednesday at 1pm so there wasn't that many people. The food and drinks came out in a timely manner and the server was very friendly. The seating area is cool. Great spot to hand out with friends. There's even a couch lounge right by the door. Was so excited to try this place (traveling all the way from Buckeye) and its definitely worth the hype! With all the rage of Ube, I just had to try out this place. I had the Ube truffle and Ube butter bar. The truffle was absolutely amazing! The butter bar was very good as well, but I liked it better once it reached room temperature as opposed to cold. I will definitely be visiting this place again and trying other Ube desserts. Finally drove to Chandler 2 Sundays ago after my oldest has been talking about trying this "Ube Place" for weeks We picked our desserts , but not everything in the menu is available during our visit. We ordered the Hibiscus and Strawberry Calamansi Coolers, Ube Flan Cup Cake, Banana Pop tart and Ube Butter Bars. I would say that my favorite dessert will be the Ube Butter Bar, it was delicious. All the desserts look delectable but I find that the Banana Pop tart could use a little more banana filling. I also thought the Ube Cupcake is a bit dense and would have preferred it to be more moist and the flan on top would have been creamier. My oldest love her Strawberry Calamansi drink but the Hibiscus Calamansi did not taste right together, there was this bitter taste at the end of each sip and IMO Hibiscus and Calamansi were too acidic together. I'm willing to give this place another chance and plan to try their Halo halo on my next visit but will definitely go back for the Ube Butter Bars. read more

I've been here many times since they've first opened and have always ordered their calamansi drinks. This last time I went I decided to try something new and got a Thai tea. I took one sip of the Thai tea and knew it was not for me. I had asked the worker girl with the lip piercing (who originally took my order) if I could exchange my drink with the calamansi which is the same price as the Thai tea. The girl responded "I mean I guess. What do you want?". It would've been nice to not feel guilty for asking to exchange drinks and I would've appreciated a more courteous answer with less attitude. I hope management takes steps to improve their staff's attitude and customer service skills. read more
