Me and the bf ate here for dinner on a Thursday night after reading the wonderful yelp reviews (thank you fellow yelpers!).. And I have to say I LOVE it and I will definitely be back for more! =) I got the roasted chicken pomme frites and bf got the steak pomme frites..my piece of chicken was boneless, juicy, and seasoned in all the right ways! The steak was prepared perfectly and even had a mixed greens side salad with the vinagrette that I LOVE (they also use this same vinagrette at Storyteller's buffet for dinner and that is the ONLY reason why i go to that buffet-aside from the spectacular bread pudding) Anyhow..both of our fries were served with a kalamata olive aioli dipping sauce..and i love olives so i was in heaven! The bf is not a big fan of olives but he liked the sauce as well! More please! =) For dessert we ordered the white chocolate raspberry bread pudding, it takes a little bit to prepare but it's worth it! I noticed some yelpers saying it was burnt..mine looked burnt but it wasn't..it was just toasty on top. I will definitely be back for this dessert again! =) The service was fantastic, you order at the counter and then you pick a seat..there was one waiter while we were there and two chefs..the waiter was great even though he had over 10 tables to serve/wait on..the kitchen is open so you can see them prepping your food.. it's pricey, but the quality of the food is good. They do a great shrimp salad at this location. The shrimp is big, and it's deceptively filling. I haven't seen salad with big shrimp in them for much cheaper than the $13 they charge, but I guess it's where you go. The white chocolate bread pudding is also great here. The Brea location does a great creme brûlée, but I don't remember it being served here. The service is normally good. I did go once when it was so terrible that I had to complain, but that was an anomaly. read more

I've been here a few times and it's really good! I was a bit hesitant I'll admit, considering this restaurant was sitting in the back of a store but I'm so glad I had it! You order at the front and then they bring your food to you. Here's the break down: Vegetarian pizza (4.5 stars) - This is a really good pizza! It's loaded with veggies, and it's thin and super light, just how I like it. It was very satisfying. White Chocolate Bread Pudding (5 stars) - This is one of the most amazing desserts I have ever had! It was so yummy! It wasn't overly sweet, and the bread itself was so moist. Came here for a late lunch today. I wasn't too excited about eating here initially but was so happy we did! I got the cilantro lime shrimp salad but subbed out the shrimp for chicken. It was a large salad and I almost finished the whole thing. It was amazing. I love salads and love trying new ones. This one did. It disappoint and if I'm ever back at this mall, I may have to stop in for one. My mom had the Nicoise salad with wild salmon and told me about every thirty second how much she loved it. I tried a bite and liked it, but the flavors juts weren't for me. I had already expected that though! We also shared the hummus appetizer and had veggies instead of bread. That was also super yummy. Located Upstairs inside Nordstrom near the children section , when you get there there's a stand with menu pamphlets and you have to give the cashier your order and pay before you get to your seat. (I also don't think there's a restroom in the restaurant but the women's is just a few steps away by the customer service area & the men's is all the way downstairs I think by the elevator) ., service was 10/10 from Daisy, we got the farmers bread and a pizza for starters , for my meal i ordered the chicken with fries , & my bf got the salmon with mushrooms The bread was really good 8.5/10 Best pizza I've ever had 11/10 The chicken , I hated I really regretted ordering that , it was cooked perfectly and it was nothing to do with the way it was made I just expected it to be thin and easily shredable (?) But it was just kinda thick fatty and clumpy 3/10 Just not for me .. Anyways we ended up ordering desert at the end both the chocolate cake and white chocolate bread pudding were warm and moist 9.5/10 The waitress also recommended the cobbler it apparently is really good, maybe next time.. The best sandwich I've ever had belongs here. It is the bistro club which has delicious avocado, turkey, fresh tomatoes, and green beans. It is accompanied with delicious garlic fries that compliment the sandwich very well. Most impressive sandwich I've had. Stumbled on to this cafe when I was shopping, and so decided to have lunch. This place is tucked inside Nordstrom on the second floor. It's a cozy place, especially for tourists if you want somewhere quiet to chill for a while. You have to order and pay first before being seated. The place is quiet, the booths are comfy and the service is friendly. They offer a small selection of wines and beers. The menu price is reasonable and ranges from a $4 soup of the day to $22 for a flat iron steak with fries. It's cafe food, but the taste is pretty good. I loooooooooooove this place. My friend and I frequent here and usually get the same thing: California grill with a side salad with balsamic dressing. (The dressing is to die for! Its so good I had to buy a bottle of it). Food is always consistent and you can't ever argue with their service as everyone is very nice there. Ambiance is cozy and casual. On another note, salads are good size portions and are tasty. I've also had the salmon pasta.....yum! This is an excellent restaurant. I understand also the martinis are excellent and you can linger at the small bar area and sit alone or with friends, both are comfortable. This is a casually hip place. A Resurgence of a sophisticated idea really from the 70s to have a nice restaurant within a department store. The salmon nicoise salad is excellent in the greens were fresh. And if it's nice sit out on the Terrace overlooking the stylish Delamo Crossing building and feeling the ocean breeze blowing in from the West. Go.... read more

Food: Salads & desserts are delicious here. Love the bread pudding and chocolate cake. Service: If you come during dead hours, it seems like the servers are sleepy, haha. But during busy hours (dinnertime), it seems like they give their best. :) The regulars provide good service, but newbies of course need some practice (esp in refilling coffees and smiling more often). Dang! My family has a history of hypertension and I cant be eating foods too salty. I wanna grab my water bottle every time i think of your french onion soup. The presentation was nice and it looked as an onion soup should. A nice size bowl topped with melted gruyere and browned around the edges...it could honestly be frozen and given to horses as a salt lick. My head might be kinda long, but I'm not a horse ;( The lime shrimp salad was delicious though. Kent D was correct on all points in his review as to the size of the shrimps and flavor of this wonderful salad. The strips of wonton gave the salad a nice crunch and the roasted corn complemented the crisp greens nicely. A perfect meal alone! Had the onion soup been tasty, the bistro would've garnered a 4-5 star review...unfortunately, the beautiful salad and the silent killer soup averages to about 3. So I'd suggest for your healths sake, don't get the onion soup. Your heart will thank you! Your family will thank you! Mr. Ed will thank you! Heee Haw!!!! read more

I'm kinda conflicted here...where do I begin... Well customer service here is stellar, even in the bistro, same as on the floor, you get 5 stars gold. Can't complain. The prices of their food is affordable. I can spend the same amount at the food court, ugh, mall food. However, they get 2 stars because when I got my food, it was so salty I could hardly taste my food. The carrots, onions, ginger soy vinaigrette. Salty. The steak was cut into shot pieces and stacked sideways, so the salt didn't catch to the stack on the bottom. Okay, fine. 3 stars, because it was sort of edible...sort of. I think most previous reviewers here, work there and the kitchen, know not to over salt their food or have some kind of special 'safe' word, like hey! Have given this place too many chances. The service is super slow no matter if there are 20 customers or 2. I've had them not even put my order in, taking 30 minutes to make a KID'S grilled cheese meal. The managers here clearly do NOT run a tight ship, as I have had nothing but bad experiences. The final straw was yesterday when I ordered the bistro club which I have had before and it was great. The guy brings my food and 1. The bread wasn't even toasted (as it always is) 2. The bacon wasn't even cooked (looked raw) I didn't have time to send it back because I only had 30 minutes. Later after I got home that night I got very sick and almost threw up. Went to the Cafe Bistro for the first time today :) The set up of the restaurant is kinda weird. you must order and pay for your food first, then get seated. The service was exceptional and the food was light and yummy. We had the margarita pizza, french onion soup, and cilantro shrimp salad. For dessert I had the vanilla bean creme brulee. I REALLY like the cilantro shrimp salad and the vanilla bean creme brulee. I'm a total sucker for any dessert that has little specks of vanilla bean. The creme brulee was not too sweet, just the way I like it. I will definitely return and try something else... and order the vanilla bean creme brulee again. read more

The Cafe Bistro, located on the second floor at Nordstrom's, is a revelation. Cozy and modern. Casual and delicious. You order as soon as you walk in--which is different and I can only imagine a long line here if indecisive people beat you to the counter. After you order, it's restaurant style. They seat you, you a have server, and of course...there's the realization that...you've already paid! Well...sans the server's tip or should you choose to partake on dessert... For lunch they offer sandwiches, pizzas, pastas, steak, salads, and a kid's menu. We had the arugula salad pizza with prosciutto, black forest ham and cheese sandwich, bistro french fries with kalamata olive aioli and drinks. Yummmmms all the way. You can easily spend $16 dollars here for one person--- that's a drink and an entree. Very reasonable considering you're on a floor where they sell $300 dresses. My review will strictly be on what I've ordered: Crab Bisque - Pretty much what you would expect a seafood bisque to taste like. And just as I expected, not a piece of crab in my cup. This bisque is on the thinner side than most traditional bisques. What I did enjoy about this bisque was that there is a slight kick to it... on the verge of being spicy, but not quite. Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad - Do I think this salad is worth $13? Absolutely NOT. I understand you are eating shrimp, and seafood is not cheap, but at least load up on the green to make up for this small salad. If you're looking for an entree-sized salad then look elsewhere. This is more of a side salad. I personally could care less for the shrimp in this salad because it was overcooked and bland. Seems as if they blanch the shrimp quickly then leave it in the ice box until ready to serve. If you've had cilantro dressing/vinaigrettes before you will appreciate this. Mushroom Pizza - Eh. If you're going to call this a mushroom pizza, then I'd say be a just a smidge more giving on the mushrooms ay? They put a LOAD of cheese, which in my opinion could be a lot less. The type of dough they use for the crust isn't the greatest. It has the texture, taste, and consistency of store-bought pizza doughs like the ones you find at Trader Joe's. I also believe it would've been better if they kept the pizza in the oven longer because I had minimal crusting, which is a total let down. Every bite I took was like one big mushy bite with no textural contrasts. Flavor was ok, nothing over the top. Pretty straight forward. White Chocolate Bread Pudding - Probably the best things I've ever had here. I usually hesitate to get bread pudding because it can be so dense and filling, but this bread pudding was surprisingly light and full of decadent goodness. The white sauce looked like creme anglaise, however almost tasted and had the consistency of condensed milk. The raspberry coulis on the plate was typical, but added just the right amount of tart to balance out all the sweetness on the plate. OVERALL: Would I come here again? Sure, for the bread pudding! Like I always say, YOU WON'T KNOW UNLESS YOU TRY IT FOR YOURSELF! read more

I always come here. It has the best food and is so convenient for a bite while shopping. Best salads is the shrimp lime salad, or pear salad. Chicken goat cheese panini is everyone's favorite. Their fries and olive sauce are THE BEST. A more healthy sandwich would be the citrus turkey. Always end the meal with a white chocolate bread pudding dessert. ALWAYS. Heads up: this place is INSIDE Nordstroms, on the 2nd floor. My husband and I got all dressed up ready to enjoy a quiet, romantic dinner at this cute little restaurant I found on Yelp called Cafe Bistro. Doh! Didn't know it was inside the mall, and is basically a glorified cafeteria-type setting! (And I read a lot of reviews too... so here's my little service to the rest of y'all and just a warning that this is not a stand-alone restaurant, it's just as the name implies... a cafe... and it's in a department store)... and again I say, doh. -_- ANYWHO. One more important detail, you have to pay for the food BEFORE they order it. We thought that was a little odd considering how nice of place it seems. You'd think if they're trying to run it like a classy little restaurant that they would treat it as such and let their patrons pay at the end of their meal. As a result, we had one charge for our entrees, another charge for our dessert which we ordered after we were finished eating, and yet another charge for the tip (they don't allow you to write it on the receipt, and we didn't have any cash). It was awkward to ask the waiter "We don't have cash, how can we tip?" and then have to tell him the amount to put on our card. Mm... Not my favorite. The food was a-ok, nothing amazing, but certainly not bad! I had the ceasar salad which was actually really good, and my husband had the steak and fries entree. We were both satisfied, and the prices were alright, although the steak seemed a little too high. The apple crisp dessert was AMAZZING though, I will say. Goodness. I forget the exact name of the dessert, so sorry. But if you see something about apple on the dessert menu.... Eat it. Love it. All in all, it was a decent experience, but just not exactly what we were looking for. Very disappointed of the service on two occasions 5/12/19 & 5/18/19, I will never visit or recommend this place to anyone. I should actually demand the tip to be refunded, when I asked for the manager, I was told not working, that explains why the behavior of the staff.... My husband and I come here almost once a week. The staff is great and the chefs (especially the head chef) do an amazing job (corporate, everyone here deserves a raise!). The weekly specials are consistently delicious, the only downside being that I want a dish again and its off the menu :( but replaced with something else delicious :) I've been to other Nordstrom Cafe/Bistro locations and found them to be lackluster. This is my first time going back to Cafe Bistro since I was a little girl, and I was honestly impressed for what it was. I was a little (okay, very) indecisive as to what to order, so I decided to be safe (and try to save $$) by ordering the caesar salad w/ chicken, and the curried cauliflower. The Caesar salad w/ chicken breast was about $12, and it was definitely very flavorful! A little on the garlic end, but I love garlic so that didn't bother me at all. I did have to pop a mint afterwards though.. Lol. It's definitely a large and filling salad, so I think I got my money's worth. The curried cauliflower was so yummy! It was $6 for a small order, which was split between my cousin and me. It was mild in spice, but just enough to give it a kick. I was a little hesitant to go back to Cafe Bistro after not really liking it as a child, but between the food, ambiance, and little chocolate mint stick at the end of my meal, I have nothing bad to say about this place. Let me start off by saying that the service was great. From the moment we were greeted to he moment we left, the host and servers were very attentive. I ordered the roasted chicken and fries, and was completely disappointed. The chicken was very bland and oily. I had to add salt and pepper just to give it some flavor. The inside of the chicken was very dry as well. The fries were cold and seemed like they weren't fresh. I was really hoping that I would like the chicken, as it had excellent reviews, but it didn't live up to the hype. I am giving this place 2 stars just bc of how great the service was. to find myself in a Nordstrom is rare -- to find myself in a mall, period, is rare.. BUT, my gf works in the mall and apparently ate here once, and since then she has been swearing up and down about how good the Cafe Bistro was on the 2nd floor of the new Nordstrom at the Cerritos mall. well, maybe not actually swearing, but she was talking up a storm about it.. well, maybe not an actual storm, but.... you know what i mean. anyway, so after doing a little shopping (which i think was the real reason she wanted me to go to the mall with her), we headed up to the 2nd floor of Nordstrom to pay a visit to this infamous Cafe Bistro. first impression: looks like a Starbucks. second impression: a really nice Starbucks. i checked out the menu, but was cut-short and almost dictatorially told to try the Honey Chipotle Steak Sandwich or something like that. so, ok -- i guess i'll be having a steak sandwich. this is when my gf emphasizes "HONEY CHIPOTLE steak sandwich". ok. so as i'm trying to imagine what honey chipotle tastes like, we are seated in an interestingly unusual manner. the cashier girl that takes our order at the door has us pre-pay our food, then seats us in a booth inside the cafe. once seated, our waitress comes by and picks up our receipt, confirms our order, then proceeds to the kitchen to retrieve what's listed on the receipt -- interesting. so she doesn't take our order, but she brings us our food -- the question going on in my head was, do i tip her? i guess that's a discussion for another time. anyway, so my chipotle steak sandwich -- excuse me, Honey Chipotle Steak Sandwich arrives. it's a halved ciabatta bread sandwiching sliced pieces of steak mixed with sauteed onions and cherry tomatoes layered with fresh green lettuce all soaked in a sweet concoction called honey chipotle sauce. it also comes with a side of garlic fries and this mystery side dipping sauce that was pretty darn good (i forgot to ask what it was). all-in-all.. it was a pretty good sandwich. was the quantity and quality worth all $12? maybe, maybe not.. it's borderline. it's a good sandwich, don't get me wrong, but slightly overpriced for what you are getting. will i ever go back? hrmm.. that's a loaded question. it's in a mall -- i don't really do malls. but, i suppose so.. since my gf works in the mall, i'd have her pick me up a sandwich from time to time. =D jk. read more
