It's really a dish that shows you the quality of the food or how good it is compared to other restaurants. My friends and I shared our dishes so that's what really matters in this review. Given this place two chances and both times it's been a complete fail. The first time we waited for over 20 minutes for a table, only to be ignored by our waiter the entire meal. Probably saw him twice during the entire 2 hour experience. Yes. It took two hours from the time we sat down to the time we were able to get our check and leave! Our appetizers came out 25 minutes AFTER we ordered them, and surprise, 2 minutes before our food. Also, the chips were store bought which just annoys me. Don't offer such an insanely large menu if you can't make everything fresh. Side compliment tho, the salsa was great. The second time we decided to do a carry out order to avoid the poor service. How wrong we were. Placed the order on the phone, and they couldn't hear at all, so it took us wayyyy too long to order chocolate chip pancakes and a breakfast relleno. Went to pick it up and there was NO ONE expediting the to go orders. They would finish a bag and just leave it on the counter. There were easily three other people waiting for orders. We asked the hostess if we should just take a bag, she said "mhm idk go ahead take what you want." So the guy in front of me assumes it's all his, takes all the bags on the counter. Ten minutes later he comes back with our relleno, opened and a bite taken out of it saying he didn't know what he took. So the chocolate chip pancakes we ordered sat in the window for twenty more minutes while we waited for another relleno to be cooked up. By the time we got our carry out order home to eat, the pancakes were dead and we had no appetite because we were so frustrated. I've worked in the service industry for years, I get it when you're busy and sometimes service isn't always perfect, but consistently below average service is not acceptable. A hostess that says "take what you want" is not acceptable. And servers that don't refill your water ONCE during the two hour time you're there is not cool. I've been to a number of different Café Brazils and I love their food. Filling, reasonably priced, and quality service. We had a massive group and our server was excellent. This time I ordered the stuffed poblano pepper and I absolutely devoured it. I'm not sure they do alcohol there though so its not the brunchiest of places. But if you want coffee and excellent food then Café brazil will get the job done and then some. read more

This Cafe Brazil just sucks if you order for take away. Ive been told on more than one weekend, they wouldn't even take my order because they didn't have enough staff in the restaurant. But even when I do manage to get to place an order, they've usually ignored any request I had. Today, I had to send my brother to pick it up for me. I ordered Migas and asked for extra salsa. I got NONE AT ALL. The pancake was at least not over browned today and I did get syrup, but no butter and no utensils. Just careless. I'm done ordering here. I've been coming to cafe Brazil for 15+ years. I usually go to the one in dallas, but I live near carrollton. The service has always been sub par, which I overlook because the food has always been excellent. Stick to breakfast, the lunch I had was dismal. Maybe 10 people were in the restaurant when I had lunch. Had the prime rib sandwich and it was drowning in bbq sauce that was oily and way too sweet. The bun was soaked through with sauce. Made a comment to my waiter and he said nothing to management. He dropped off the check and said nothing. Like I said, stick to the breakfast stuff, and you will be fine. I had the spinach crepe with bacon bits...ah, creamy, flavorful, crunchy, and filling. The flavor was very rich and satisfying. The hash brown casserole wasn't really all that great for me because it honestly didn't taste like hash browns. Next time I come in I'll order it with rosemary house fries. Definitely a place to come for coffee, their Brazilian select is delicious with no creamer or milk..just one sugar and you're good! The Vienna flavored coffee is also delicious. This has been a favorite for many years, but the current management is rude, abrupt and lacks respect for the customer. In fact, after making my to-go order wrong 3 times, I called once I got home AGAIN and he suggested that "that's how they make it" ...despite my request to substitute. So, I asked for a partial refund on the one food item, and I suggested that he might think about his customer service skills and he hung up on me. Came here for a quick lunch, and I had a great time. Got the grilled cheese with fries. The grilled cheese was pretty good, but I do have grilled cheeses from other places I like more. The server was very kind and knowledgeable about the dense menu. There is a coffee bar, so you get all you want of a variety of coffees. The food came promptly and it was really good. Our first time at a Cafe Brazil. We ordered the bottomless coffee, small OJ, breakfast relleno and chilaquiles. This was at about 9:45am on a Saturday. The Pros: our waiter Marco was attentive, prompt and courteous. Both of our food dishes were delicious and we enjoyed both. They were not super busy and we were seated right away. Also the coffee came with a to go cup option. The cons: don't look up. The ceiling tiles are nasty and one table under a air return and chunks of insulation fall on their table and food. Not a fan of the out dated decor and no point in having local art for sale if you cannot see it. When we arrived there was an open table outside we asked to be seated at but hostess said that wait staff did not like to work the outside so she seated us inside. Coffee bar was cramped and coffee was not hot- lukewarm at best. We will return based on the food and service. read more

Ordered to go and Came in on a Sunday afternoon around 4pm which was in between the lunch and dinner crowd so there was no wait. I had the Ckn tortilla soup and Ckn crepes. I love onions, however I felt that that's all they had in my soup. Perhaps I should of went to Los lupes across the street if I wanted authentic medical tortilla soup right? Crepes were decent. I found the Ckn to be dry. The potatoes were good that came with it. It satisfied my crepe craving to where I didn't have to drive in this triple digit tax heat to make it out to flipping crepes or even sweet mix for some real crepes ;) And for dessert I had them pack me slice of Italian Creme cake to go. That was pretty moist. Not sure if that's made I house or they just serve it, but it was good. Not too sweet. I typically eat at Cafe Brazil on average once/month. I travel a bit around the Metroplex, so I've visited a few in the area (Richardson, Downtown, Greenville, etc) and have usually had a really good experience. Granted, you don't go to Cafe Brazil for an elaborate eating experience; however, my standards are raised at bit when there is not a drive-thru window as an option. Today must have been a seriously off day for this location. Here's why: I wait a fairly long wait time for someone to greet me and take my drink order. This wouldn't have been an issue except there were only a half dozen other single/double count tables for three servers during the lunch "rush" hour. Then, I have a difficult time understanding what he's asked me as he is speaking and walking away from me at the same time. He seems annoyed that he has to stop walking and enunciate his question to me. I order a glass of water and he returns with what appears to be a child's cup FILLED with ice and a dribble of water. Really? That's like 2 sips for an adult. I politely ask for a larger cup so that I will have more to drink, and point to the large red cups that other patrons were served. I was told that those were reserved for iced tea. Um, ok. Do I need to be charged for temporarily using the cup? He instead pours the contents of my cup into a "medium" sized cup and adds more ice, but not more water. *facepalm* Ordered the turkey migas, subbed with fruit b/c I'm not a fan of their overly-spiced rosemary potatoes as a previous poster stated. Not but 2 min later, the waitperson then returns to my table and asks me to pre-pay for my order. He claims that they are shutting down their computer system and switching to manual operation for the rest of the day. I ask if he wouldn't mind entering my order manually as I don't feel comfortable paying for a meal/gratitude in advance of the food arriving/service is complete. He looks at me odd and states we'll have to deal with that if we cross that bridge and then requests payment again. OK....*sigh* Food arrives. It tastes really bland for Tex-Mex migas and the veggies inside are actually undercooked and partially cold. The "salsa" it came with is actually a glorified, chunky ketchup. No heat level whatsoever. Tabasco is not going to fix this. Ugh. While I eat, the table seated next to me is obviously friends with one of the other servers, and this particular employee is half seated/standing at their table. They talk loudly. About personal crap. About facebook pictures. About whos-dating-whom. Gossip about the other employees and why some of them were fired (a few of them had poor customer service skills---gasp!). Stuff, that in my personal opinion, needs to be discussed away from other patrons, on your break or off day. OK, I get that you guys are fresh-from-high-school and important events to you still consist of petty BS. But guys, please, PLEASE take it somewhere else. A waitperson to my right serves another two top table. She brings water (in large red glasses!) and spills it on the floor, table and herself. She places the now-dripping glasses on the table and half-ass attempts to clean up her spill. The patrons ask for more napkins several times. The waitress has failed to see that she's spilled a significant amount on the floor, in a high traffic area. I eyeball it and think of the wonderful lawsuit that would ensure if I walked over that spill at the right speed. I decide to just tell the other patrons to be careful about the spill and then tell my waitperson to clean it up before they have a liability issue. I'm very much done with this particular Café Brazil location. As I leave, I notice a HELP WANTED sign for servers and buspersons. Haha---here's a sprinkling of wisdom: Don't hire dingbat teenagers at this place anymore and re-think your customer service training. Everyone here just plain sucked at it, and it's costing you the repeat customers that you need in this economy. Ew. My crepes literally tasted like a wet dog. First we were told it would be a 15 min wait and had to wait around 40 min to be seated. Not cool when you have a hyper 2 year old. So while we were waiting we had some of the coffee that you can help yourself to. Ew. Also, there were so many grounds in one of my cups that it startled me. The place seemed dirty and just kinda sticky (you know the feeling when you walk into an old Denny's or something). Not a lot that sounded good on their menu. This was my first and last time going here. We ordered the southwest vegan burger that comes with sweet potato fries. After ordering my friend and I sat for a long time and finally our waiter said let me check on your food and returned quickly with cold food and still never offered napkins, silverware or condiments. When we said the food was cold he said he'd fix it and went to another table. After sitting some time another man from the back came inquiring and when I told him about the cold food and no silverware and napkins, etc He said it was a burger and I didn't need silverware anyway and basically called me difficult and left the table. The food is pretty consistant and has a lot of flavors. My favorites are the El Gordo crepes, BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger, and the Grilled Cheese. The fruit pancrepes taste more like an egg than a mix between a pancake and a crepe. Their service could use some work.They take a while to take your order, and have the food ready even though there are only a few other tables being occupied. We also had to wait for half an hour or longer to receive our checks, pay, and leave so I order to-go most of the time. They also messed up on a few things like making me an American Omelette instead of a Western Omelette and giving me a Chorizo Empanada instead of a Chicken Empanada. read more

Café Brazil is probably my favorite restaurant to go to nearly any time. I'm a fan of their Breakfast Rellano, which is a poblano pepper stuffed with scrambleds eggs, chorizo, and cheese, but I've also had their vegetarian pasta, their chorizo nachos and their migas and I've never been disappointed. There are a number of vegetarian dishes for those who swing that way, so they too can come here and not be relegated to getting the same crappy thing every time. The coffee is fantastic and there are up to seven different kinds at any one time unless you get there when they first open at 7:00AM. The only thing I wish was if they were open 24 hours, like the Cafe Brazil on US-75 at Mockingbird. The wait staff is great and knows when you need refills and when you just need to be left alone. There is free wifi available, the atmosphere's laid back, and the tunes are great whether they're piping cheesy '80s, Brit rock, or standards. Even their Christmas music is listenable, and that there is quite the accomplishment. read more

We were a little dissappointed but we decided to stay. I got the El Gordo crepe and my fiancee got the Chicken Zapata, as we were trying to stay away from the mexican dishes because you can find them anywhere else in Texas... I was truly surprised by the size of the servings and the flavor. The food was really good as it really tasted fresh. I wanted to order a specialty coffee but decaf however they didn't have that option... By the way, I like that they support local artists because they had a wall with paintings for sale from different artists and the prices seemed reasonable. Anyhow, even though it wasn't what I expected I would definitely go back for the food which was very tastey!!!! ... and I really hope they add some decaf specialty coffees to the menu ;) read more

We revisited the restaurant for a late breakfast about a month after the first time, with pretty much the same results. The first thing that hits your nose when you go through the front door is hazelnut-flavored coffee. I hate hazelnut-flavored coffee. This time I tried a double-expresso. It was OK. I've had better. Mrs. Bear enjoyed her Mocha. We had different breakfast dishes than last time, and they were very tasty. The service was prompt and solicitous. Try using only in-season fruits for your pancakes, and either coconut oil (very expensive, but very good) or even butter (gets hot very fast - but when you get it down it makes a GREAT pancake!) +2 stars - Hot chocolate and my husbands Not Another Egg Benedict. Guest Service was AMAZING; the waitress was very sweet. :) - 1 Star - Had to eat 5.00 ramen noodles (yeah, in the cup) and quail egg at Spa Castle since it was late when we got back to the Hotel and I was still hungry from all the "not another pancake(s)" I didn't eat. It was like taking a salty chainsaw to my tongue, but it was sadly better then your pancakes. +1 Star - Manager/Owner realized the pancakes did indeed suck and removed the price of the abominations. I can't believe I've neglected to review this place. Cafe Brazil offers South/Central American inspired food without being too polarizing, and also makes some mean pancakes. The coffee here is delicious. If you like REALLY strong coffee, especially if you drink it black, you may not care for it as much as most. I drink my coffee black when I'm being good, and some flavors that I usually like aren't so great without cream and sugar. I would still say their coffee selection is solid and there's enough selection to please any palate. Plenty of options for vegetarians and even vegans (with some minor tweaks). The food is always fresh with quality ingredients. I personally recommend the vegetable migas with rosemary potatoes or sugar dusted pancakes for breakfast, or their nachos as an app or entree--they use REAL cheese! read more

We went to Cafe Brazil Sunday late morning almost at noon and it was not overly busy so what I am reviewing it completely ridiculous here and shows a lack of care by the servers and staff at this restaurant and we have gone here before with no issues. My girlfriend and I stood at the host/hostess counter for about 5 minutes without a greeting or we will be right with you or anything. All the servers were either talking behind the drink counter or were getting coffee or food in the back but what really irked me was one server in particular who had blonde hair and shaved sides looked at her coworker next to her as they were talking and looked directly at us a few times and then were still talking without even acknowledging us. I will never go back to this location after that complete and utter disregard for service. I would rather go somewhere that wants me as a customer, which I would be happy to give my money to. read more
