I've been craving seafood during this lockdown and I finally decided to let myself indulge. I ordered the snow crab with the garlic butter and a corn. Their garlic butter is so good and plentiful. I can still smell the garlic on my hands, even after wearing gloves and washing my hands multiple times. I ordered one pound of the crab and that was enough for me. As I neared the end of my crab legs, the garlic butter started to become too much for me and it was starting to taste too salty. The soda I ordered helped to cut down on that a little but I was definitely struggling to finish the last of it. I also tried some of my friend's Cajun fries and they were super good. Nice and crispy with a great kick. And they give a side of ranch with it, in case you need to cool it down a bit (or if you just like ranch with fries). If you think drenching Cajun Old Bay seasoning from Maryland yet produced in Detroit over some shrimp is Cajun food than you are sadly mistaken sir. What Cajun recipe do you know where they just cover the whole shrimp....no peeling, no deveining, no taken the heads off, no nothing just seasoning is Cajun food. I'm an absolute SUCKER for seafood boils!! I can't eat shrimp, due to allergy; however I'm still able to enjoy some hearty crab! I was a die hard snow crab lover, super easy to open (in my opinion) with various nice chunks of meat. About two weeks ago, I've been put onto Dungeness! The meat is sweeter with a slightly softer/creamier texture. Normally, I would stay FAR away from anything to have to deal with the inside of the head, but I decided to be adventurous & give it a shot - it was okay, but not something I'd absolutely HAVE TO HAVE lol. On this particular visit - I ordered the Dungeness (Pictured) in Cajun Garlic Butter seasoning with Medium spice, & two pieces of corn. (You gotta have corn!!) Other boil add-on options include: - potato's (one order = 2 big potatoes cut in half), sausage (one order = half a dozen sliced sausages), or a serving of rice (a big heaping scoop). I also order a side of plain melted butter along with a few lemon wedges - so my end result flavoring would be Lemony Cajun Garlic Butter lol (I know, my arteries are DEFINITELY clogged). *NOTE* the Dungeness crab is LIVE from their tank, so if the tank is empty, you'll have to opt for a different choice of seafood. I love everything about this place! The only reason for 4 stars & not 5 is because there isn't as much sauce in the boil bag anymore. I used to frequent this spot a few years ago, & I remember it being much more saucy. However, I totally understand being cost efficient. I will add tho - ordering extra butter, or sauce of your choosing will cost you $3.00. The service is fast & friendly! The man with glasses (who I presume to be the owner - but I could be wrong) is very accommodating. My mom ordered a half dozen sausage in her bag, but received potato's instead. He brought the sausage & let her keep the potato's at no extra cost! We were of course willing to pay for it, but he was very apologetic & wouldn't have that. I really appreciated it! Wasted my time driving down here because when I got here I couldn't even place a takeout order. I tried calling and someone was picking up the phone then hanging it up, it happened several times. When I arrived there was a crowd of people waiting to pickup food. I walked up to order and noticed a sign saying no takeout...so why were orders being handed out to people waiting? I asked the man at the register and he said they stopped their online orders around lunch time. I checked online and it did say online ordering was unavailable which is why I tried to call. I've been curious about this restaurant when passing by or in the area. For my birthday, I asked my bf if we could eat here for dinner. Something different for a change I told him. Once you walk right in, they seat you according to the number of people in your party. The menu is a little confusing before we ordered so we asked how does the special combos work. These special combo normally feeds 1 to 2 people. They come with crawfish, mussels, shrimps, clams, potatoes, corn on the cob, 4 sausages, and 1 bowl of rice. We ordered half a dozen of oysters to start, then the king crab combo with lemon garlic butter seasoning mild. It was a delight to slurp the oysters off its shell. Lemon and a dash of salt. Our combo came in a plastic bag but served in a metal bucket when brought to us. Couldn't believe how much food was in the bag. Good thing they have gloves, utensils, and bibs for us or this would a messy nightmare. That garlic butter flavoring was delicious but the aftermath not so pretty. The flavoring went well with the sausages and cobs of corn. The king crab meat was so good. I learned that I do not like crawfish. Not much meat to indulge in. The service was great. The waitress did a great job explaining the menu. Food came in a timely manner. It got busy after 7pm. The parking lot was repaved and parking stalls are straight rather than diagonal. With everything going on right now with COVID-19, I'm so thankful for Cajun King remaining open and having such great customer service on the phone and in person. I made a phone order and the lady who I spoke with answered all my questions, and made the process as easy as possible. She gave suggestions, which I loved because it was my first time ordering from them. I ended up getting combo 2 (dungeons combo - $65) & 4 (snow crab combo - $50), extra sausages & corn, with mild cajun & garlic butter sauce on the side. All the combos come with Crawfish, Mussels, Shrimp, Clams, Potatoes, 2 Corn on the Cob, 4 Sausages, and Rice. And no, you can't substitute them. Everything was sooo yummy and everyone enjoyed the flavor! I asked for the sauce on the side because I was wanted to put the combos together in a pan and just hand mix the sauce in for my family to share during my bday quarantine (and don't worry, social distancing was practiced and there were only 6 people in our household). Total wait time for the two combos were 20mins which wasn't too bad. I definitely recommend phone ordering so you don't have to wait around in the area or in your car. You can just grab and go. If you aren't able to get in touch with them, or you do decide to do a take-out order, there's a lot of parking. They claimed the kitchen staff insisted they put the king crab in the bag. I told them I know the difference between the 2, and there was no king crab in the bag. I've been to this location maybe a dozen times and I've never had a bad experience. The seafood is delicious and there's a good amount to choose from. The combos they have really make it easy and you really get to try a little bit of everything which is a plus. I have to give it to them when it comes down to their sauce, the Cajun garlic butter is may favorite with just a Little bit of spice. You can ask for the sauce on the side if you want it to be less of a mess. One thing I did notice is that the raw oysters are always unavailable which is a bummer because after being there a Dozen times you kinda wish they would have it at least once in awhile. The prices here aren't cheap but I do agree that their fair for the amount of food you get. The service is usually quick the staff are all very young but I've been here enough to know that they always take care, which keeps us coming back. Awesome service! We called for a phone order and they were fast to complete the order. When you pick up your order, make sure that you bring your ID if paying by card- just a tip! The place itself is big and clean. They enforce social distancing and limit the capacity. Food wise, it does lack a little bit of taste but the food was great. Today I took my mom out to lunch, and our was very disappointed by today's service. Never in my past visit to this place have we been treated so badly by our server. Upon our visit, we checked on, ask how many I. Out party without any greetings, and ask for an ID. After she points to the temperature scanner and says sarcastically u have to put your forehead closer to the scanner, then rolls her eyes. At my mom. I thought to myself, what's wrong with her? Is she just having a bad day or something? I just let it go. She then asks if we wanted any thing to drink, and replied water and one soda. She later returns with our drinks, and takes our order. My mom was hungry, and ordered two things. Thee salt and pepper crab, and lunch special Cajun lobster and shrimp. She asked for it to be on the mild side. She leaves and places the order in. I was drinking my beverage, and she later came back to say to keep our mask on until the food comes out. I had a very confusing look, and wondered how to drink my beverage through the mask that she served us, or not to drink anything until the food arrives. I thought to myself, either two things, dumb server, or just bad store policies. Our food arrived and my mom was very disappointed by the salt and pepper crab, being all chopped up, and nothing like how the picture was presented on the menu. She ate anyway because she was hungry. Later her lunch special came and she tasted one piece of the Cajun shrimp. It was too spicy fir her and she felt like she almost was having a heart attack by the surprise of how spicy the dry rub was. I told the server that she can't eat the lunch special being too spicy for her, and she had a blank face and said would you like butter to help with the spicy ness. I already was pissed off after my mom told me about it. I asked the server to remove it from the table, and she had a sassy attitude and said your still paying for it, and literally tossing it to the rubbish can in front of us. What she should had done was to get her manager involved at that point, instead of just letting it go until the bill was dropped. The server charged for everything including lunch special she tossed into the trash. I then ask to speak to the manager. I didn't tell her about my moms situation, but just told her that lunch special was too spicy for her to consume, but what really got us upset is how she handled the situation without any care. The manager was somewhat apologetic,, but stated a store policy that they don't take off meals even though it's not to the guest liking. In other words eat at your own risk! Talk about bad store policies. I feel that this visit changed my opinion about this place. From the server standpoint, she really needs more training, and being a better listener to her guest need. A smile or a simple thank you would go the mile towards the dining experience. Management needs better training with their service standards by allowing such atrocious service to embarrass this establishment. Out of clams, out of snow crab... Last time was out of snow and King crab. Gotta check before going. But I all fairness. I must say, I no longer suffer from mushy or soft crab legs, or small clams. Lobster and Dungeness crab has been consistently good to great! Shrimp and crayfish still needs some help. Keeping their inventory on the low side is disappointing. But I have to say, I haven't had mushy snow crab legs in a while. The last few visits we had, the crab legs were very good. No mushy comments there. Dungeness has been smaller, BUT they are heavier, and the meat is more sweet and moist. I rather have a great medium sized Dungeness, than a tough or mushy large. Please don't go any smaller, or you might as well go blue crab. read more
