This pains me to give only 1 star but if I'm being honest that's what I'm feeling. I lived in the area a long time ago and always loved being able to walk to Cappy's on the weekend for really great breakfast and awesome service. This review is only based on the present however. This was our first time back to Cappy's since Covid. I know there is new management and I know there has been some cosmetic updates to the restaurant. That said the Restaurant looks great, and the service was good. The food was so disappointing! My wife ordered the French Toast Combo. Nothing special, the portions were MUCH smaller and nothing that stood out that would make you think that you are getting what you paid for of $20.00 I ordered a go to standard the Breakfast Burrito. Again, nothing spectacular but mostly disappointed because the quality doesn't match the price point of $20. Honestly there are MUCH better Breakfast Burritos that you can get at Stacks, Dick Churches, and Nates Korner to give some examples. I understand Covid hit us all hard, and as a small business owner I totally feel your pain. On top of that I understand that you are trying to recoup your investment and I'm sure your margins are super tight but if you are going put out these prices please put out better food that equals your price point. I hope if we do decide to give your establishment another chance that the quality of the food will be much better. Again sorry for the 1 star but it's MY honest opinion. read more

Always a go to place for brunch. They opened up the back area for more outdoor seating. Nice vibe looking into nature. I prefer outdoor seating. Our usual orders. Pancake combo... I like sausage links over bacon. Chili cheese omelette. A definition of comfort food. Taco salad. Happiness in a taco bowl Bloody Mary to wake you up Service is great Price. Value for money. We have enjoyed Cappy's for years and have always have had a pleasant experience. Our last experience was very disappointing. My wife is undergoing medical procedures and has a very diminished appetite. So we asked to order from the children's menu as the quantity would be ideal. We were told no, just order aka cart. I explained our situation and very coldly she said theirs nothing she could do, she is the manager. So I again explained our circumstances with no avail. It's unfortunate as we enjoyed their food. This rating is due to A) high food prices and B) a poor managerial decision. I grew up in the area, but moved away 15 years ago. I was excited to bring my young family to Cappys for breakfast. Besides the tasty food, I missed the service-oriented attitudes found in so many SoCal restaurants. I was this surprised by our experience at Cappys. Put simply, me and my brothers family - 8 of us in total- went to Cappys for breakfast on December 26th . Our hostess/beverage server (I won't mention her name) was new, it seems. She brought us menus but no kids menus. The kids wanted fresh orange juice, which they don't get on the east coast, and asked if there was a kids juice ("I don't think so" was the answer). Last time I was there was "pre-kids" so I just took her at her word. Anyway, we ordered three orange juices at $6 a piece. Later our main server Christy came by with kids menus, where we found kid's orange juice for ~$3 or so. We explained to Christy -who was great!- that we were originally wanting to order kids juices but were told there wasn't a kids juice, which was clearly incorrect. We also didn't blame the first server, but just wanted to explain to Christy what happened. She kindly said she'd ask the manager if we could just pay the kids prices. The answer, astonishingly, was no. The manager told Christy to tell us that we would have to pay the adult juice prices despite the mistake made by the first server. I'm the grand scheme of things, I can deal with losing $12. What is irksome is that we spent $230 on food and drinks, and it seems oh so petty for a manager to NOT take $3 off a juice due to a minor staff error. I think Christy and the first server (despite her mistake) we're doing their best. Management that can't make sound decisions for the betterment of their business -decisions that will bring customers back- should not be managers. I really hope the manager(s) think twice before saying "no" to a reasonable request. So...go to Cappys and enjoy the tasty, albeit $$$ food. If something isn't to your liking, be prepared for the management to disregard your request. read more

Visiting from the Bay Area, wife and I found Cappy's online and decided to give it a try. At first the full parking lot and line of people waiting outside gave me concern but the attendant let me know of a spot on the street while my wife put our name in. We were seated within 10 minutes and it's no wonder why. The staff was quick to take our drink orders and food orders but without rushing us. Food came quickly and the omelette that I had was one of the best I've ever had. Wife's chicken fried steak was great as well. Price was more than I'm used to paying but the quality and the location considered...it was worth it. I know I'll be back next time I'm in town. read more

I'm sorry to have to leave this one star review because I've been to Cappy's many times over the years. I know some of the servers personally. It's a local place. The food is always okay (not great...just okay), but not today. Today I received my breakfast ice cold. Soft butter would not melt on the undercooked waffle, the sausage was hard (and ice cold), and the eggs were 100% cold...not room temp, but cold. Yech. Cold eggs. I ate 1/4 of it and then the only time our server (Christy) checked on us was when she asked if I wanted a box, which I did, for my dog. When she brought the box back, she turned quickly as I said "excuse me" and went away. Granted, we were way in the back near the speaker, so maybe she didn't hear me. When the person came to get my check, I asked for Christy. I told her about the meal being cold from the start. She told me that I should have said something sooner because she would have replaced it. She said, "That's what we do here". Which would have been fine except that I didn't see her until after we finished. She stated that she "checked on us several times", which was not true. So, long story condensed...cold, bad food and not much I could do about it except pay my $50. Yep. $50 for 2 plates of food. My partner's food was at least warm. Last time ever at Cappy's. Excellent service. Super busy so plan to wait for a table unless you make a reservation which we did not know. Our first time trying this restaurant out. It was raining but still quite busy. Nice and cozy place to eat. The food is pricey for what I paid for compared to other breakfast restaurants I've been to. My monte cristo was recommended by server and was too dry and super greasy. We have been a regular at Cappy's for several years. We usually visit on Sunday. It is always crowded, but Steve who works the parking lot always finds us a spot. We usually have something from the brunch menu, although my wife often has crepes. Today, we were close and a little earlier than usual, so I decided to have breakfast. They have a sign that has "the best breakfast in town". Now I know why! I ordered sausage and eggs and overwhelmed with the breakfast. I got 3 large sausage patties, 3 eggs plus hashbrowns, and biscuit and gravy. I was barely able to finish it. I think they need to say not only the best but the biggest breakfast in town. read more

This was absolutely horrible!!! Horrible!!!! CRAPPY CAFE is what it should be called. My husbands French toast was under cooked and when we mentioned it to the server she was confused. The manager came over and was hesitant on doing anything for us. He asked if we wanted anything else and we said no. Just the check please. He kept going on and on about him taking off the French toast from the bill. Than had us put the French toast on another plate so he can show the cook. Will never come back again!!! Horrible!!!! I personally would not consider this place as the best breakfast in town. To me, it's an upscale of Denny's but nothing spectacular or devouring to award it as "best breakfast in town". We ordered the crap omelette and the NY steak with eggs. It came with toasts (tastes like any other bread from any other stores) and fruits/House special potatoes (there's other options but we opted for these two). The steak was dry and chewy. The crap omelette was way too salty. They had way too much bacon in it that you can barely taste the crab, thus, it made it so salty. Service was great-friendly staff and outdoor seatings. They allow dogs so we appreciated it. I would only go here if I was in the area and wanted the beach/street ambiance. If you want good breakfast...maybe try other places. read more

This place is terrible. This was my second time going. It took us over an hour to get seated because the hostess mistakenly crossed us off the list. They didn't even apologize for their mistake. When the food finally came--thirty minutes after we were seated--it was cold, and my partner's order was wrong. When my eggs Benedict came again ten minutes later, they were at best lukewarm. It took two hours for us to eat an extremely mediocre, cold breakfast. Skip this place. read more

I ordered the meat lover omelette (delicious), blueberry pancakes (2stacks and delicious), corned beef has without eggs (stupid cause I should've ordered sunny side up eggs), and some cocktails. The corned beef has was divine. I can't wait to make another reservation. The long wait is worth it and apart of the experience. Parking is limited but so what. This place should be called Crappy cafe instead of Cappys cafe. we sat down and my silverware had food caked on it, even though it was already wrapped in the napkin. I ordered a BLTA and I couldn't bite into it, it was so hard. The server "Christy" which was the manager didn't come over to check on us once we had to call her over to get us more drinks and to serve us correctly. When we tried to resolve the situation about the hard food they denied it and refused to do anything. They also put their own tip of what they wanted on the ticket already. They also won't let you do split checks. Overall it was a horrible experience. read more

We have been coming here for the last 6 years. The prices have gone up dramatically. It's $15 for a Bloody Mary, and it's small. The food prices has gone up a lot too. Their chicken fried steaks are still pretty good. The corn beef hash was terrible according to my wife and she didn't even eat it. The server didn't care and didn't offer to get her something else or discount it. I doubt we will be coming back anymore. Also, the parking there is a nightmare sometimes. read more
