We fell victim of a delay at Southwest and found ourselves looking for a sit down option. This was the only place in our area. We initially asked for a table and was told it would be 30 minutes. As we saw many open tables, I spotted a few seats at the bar and asked if this was an option (not sure why it wasn't recommended) as it's full service. The server was clueless about gluten free offerings. I get more and more shocked at the level of knowledge in the restaurant industry each time I go out. Since I do have allergies, my ratings are impacted by the offerings and the knowledge surrounding them. I opted for the burger and side salad. The dressing was great but the salad itself is just spring greens with 1 or 2 tomatoes. The burger patties are EXTREMELY thin, but topped with some bacon jam which had a hint of flavor. My $16 meal was a $6 meal at best. The drinks were good (had 2 mules). I'd say they didn't skimp the vodka because I still tasted it 4 hours later! Service was extremely mediocre. For some reason the server kept asking others if they needed anything, but kept skipping over us and we did actually want to order more. My sister enjoyed the turkey wrap, the fries looked great, someone next to us got brussel sprouts and pork belly tacos that looked great and another neighbor got the barbeque plate that looked great. But they were warm, welcoming, talkative, and even though I wanted to eat later on in the evening, I decided to order a light dinner because they created an environment where I wanted to stay and eat when I wasn't that hungry. My coworker and I went to Cask & Larder inside Orlando Airport. We both were starving and we both had a long day of flights scheduled before we got home. We suspected that with all the delays in flights going on, our day was not going to go well and we would need a good meal to face this day. Firstly, the decor in Cask & Larder is very open and inviting. The seating is comfortable. It actually is a pleasure to come dine in their restaurant. This is usually not the case in an airport establishment, a comment i will make often in this review. We both perused the menu and settled on the chicken and waffles. Why? My coworker is a southern guy. Me, i just love their food. Cask & Larder's chicken and waffles also caught our eye since it was allegedly Nashville chicken. Cask's Nashville Chicken and Waffles per the menu has Nashville hot chicken, Belgian waffles, apple and red onion jam, hot honey and whipped ricotta. I love Nashville chicken, my coworker is a self proclaimed Nashville chicken snob. He said he gets mad when chicken calls itself Nashville chicken but doesn't meet the quality. We placed our order and it came in. Prettiest chicken and waffle plate I have ever seen, check out the picture I took. I have never seen a presentation of food like this at an airport restaurant. I asked myself when our plates were put on the table... how does it taste? Omg! Nailed it! My coworker was pleased and gave it his seal of approval. The whole meal was perfection and we cleaned the plates. So glad we came. This was the highlight of our day, as due to delays we spent hours flying across the country to get home. We arrived at the airport at 9 am. I did not get home until passed midnight. My coworkers flights were delayed so bad, he didn't make it home till 2 am. Two ladies working and the place was jammed, yet they knew how to manage the guests and keep everyone smiling. A couple bloody Mary's and a fresh baked pretzel with cheese sauce and mustard was all it took to make this weary traveler happy. I would say that the prices were in line with what you might find outside of an airport, so this was a nice little surprise as well. Had time to sit and eat some dinner in the airport before catching our flight. They were busy, but able to be seated quickly and greeted by a friendly server. We had a cocktail to start off our vacation and they have lots of options to chose from on the menu inclusive of unique cocktails, beers, and standard drinks. My mom and I shared the Cuban sandwich and that was perfect to allow us to share and not be too full after we also tried the fried green tomatoes. Most recently I ordered a top shelf margarita (Patron and Grand Marnier) along with the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich to-go. The drink was great, and delivered quickly. I ate my sandwich on the plane and I know everyone around me was jealous. It has a mild spice with a touch of honey on it. I opted to remove the pickles, but the coleslaw was a nice touch. Been here twice recently due to Southwest having delays. This is the only sit down option at the Southwest gates in MCO. The decor is cool. They serve on plates but with plastic cutlery (any plastic add to the landfill is a negative for the volume they do here). They have a decent beer selection, but the airport-priced wines are not great. You can eat at a table or the bar. For the health conscious there are salads on the menu and even an Impossible burger. However that burger is poorly prepared. Not seasoned, basically warmed and tossed on the bun. Service is mediocre but timely. Some charging at a charge bar, but not at tables, and they don't want folks to tarry (naturally- many customers to serve). read more

The food was good here. I got the shrimp and grits and the gator bites. Honestly it was better than I was thinking it would be. If you are in the area you should definitely give it a try. The grits had cherry tomatoes and corn and gave it a hearty taste. This is located near gate 112 in the Alaska section of the airport. There is alcohol there but note there are times that the dont serve alcohol that I was told. Banana pudding and s'mores looks yummy. The marshmallow crispy treats are a bit hard. Take the time to feel if they give some for a more fresher one. I get to the Orlando Airport early to make sure we can enjoy a meal at Cask & Larder before we get on our flight. The food is sooo good. We ate there a couple days ago and my son got the Shrimp and Grits. It was a huge portion and he and his friend devoured it. His friend had already enjoyed the tacos. It was a smaller portion than the Shrimp and Grits, so he had room to finish my son's meal. My daughter got the Nashville Chicken Sandwich with fries. She's not a big slaw fan, so she removed that, but enjoyed the sammie. I got BLT with side salad. I can't believe the prices because I got more than I expected in an airport restaurant. I unfortunately had a dreaded five hour layover this week. Luckily, my flight was located next this gem. I immediately sat at the bar and was greeted by the bartender (Joe, i believe). I quickly placed a drink order and then perused the menu. I got the whiskey smash, very good. The menu had a lot to offer so it took me a while to decide. I decided to go for the chicken sandwich with a side of Mac n cheese (I needed comfort). The food came pretty fast, and the kitchen still added fries, even though I meant to substituted the Mac n cheese for the fries (win for me though ;)). The chicken was juicy (I see some people found it dry, but that wasn't the case for me at all) it was well flavored and I liked the touch of honey. The Mac and cheese was good better than I'd expect from an airport restaurant, however, I do wish it was baked since The restaurant is supposed to be doing southern cuisine. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. The sandwich came with a deli pickle, which i loved! I decided to order another drink and went for their specialty old fashioned, also very good. The service was great and the bartenders were attentive and friendly. Overall, I had a real good experience and would definitely stop in again during another layover. After walking around the airport to find the best spot to eat and work, I decided on Cask & Larder. I grabbed one of the blue seats in the middle section and was quickly greeted by a waitress. We were in the MCO airport for a very early flight and a 5 am visit to Cask & Larder for our party of 6 (with 3 kids) was a nice surprise for all of us... C & L Service & Ambiance: There was a really cool nature vibe complete with this massive tree showcased in the middle of the dining area. Lots of natural colored wood tables and shelves displaying more plants. This is an attractive resto that you wouldn't expect to find in an airport. Our server was so pleasant and professional. She kept the coffees fresh and checked on us frequently. The kitchen got the dishes to the table expediently. C & L Cuisine: I had the avocado toast and it was fine. FYO It's sliced avocados versus mashed and I prefer it mashed. The fried eggs and the beets were a nice touch. The biscuits were hot, fresh and delicious. I'm not normally a biscuits guy but these were fantastic. The french toast was a generous service and tasty as well. The other breakfast staples of pancakes, eggs, sausage, etc were all good to go and fresh.
