Gulab jamun latte(right) and dirty cardamom chai (2 on left-both tasted different/different cups too)
    Roxana C.

Visited on a weekend, not too full and only one person in front of us but wait time was pretty long. If alone it might be quicker but we were a group of 3 and it took about 30 minutes for all of us to get our drinks. The food is okay, we got the paneer wrap (only waited about 2 minutes for wrap) , it was pretty cold from the inside and not too much flavor. The coffee drinks were more of desert type coffees but even then, they were extremely sweet. The place is pretty big, and lots of seating options for different group sizes, would even make a great study spot. I would go back to try their hot chai which was what everyone was getting.

This rating overall is as accurate as you can be on a yelp review. I say this because the stars are given for the ambience and the vibe really beautifully decorated and even the food looks like a work of art. The service was good and overall, I enjoyed my experience, but I would have to say the flavors of the mango cheesecake that we got was a bit too much cardamom but it was also a decently priced. The chai was great and again it looks like a work of art, but I'm still unsure if I would come back if it's only for the vibes.

    Mango Lassi Cheesecake

New spot in Mira Mesa opened about a month ago, on the corner of Mira Mesa Blvd and Scranton Road. Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday and it was quite crowded! Lots of coffee and tea options, for food mainly pastries but a few savory lunch bite options. I ordered a pistachio latte, butter chicken burrito, and the mango lassi cheesecake. The pistachio latte was ok, a bit too much milk even for a latte. The butter chicken was tasty - could do with more of the sauce on the side. Mango lassi cheesecake was super tasty as well. Could see this being a popular spot to work or study or during lunch in this busy office building area.

I enjoyed a nice hot cup of Masala Chai and a couple of samosas from this Indian cafe. The Masala Chai offered a nice cinnamon and honey. It was very smooth and very pleasant to drink. $5.49 plus tax. The samosas were good too, but they were a little on the greasier side than I would of like, specifically the dough. The potatoes with the curry and peas inside tasted very good. The sauce that came on the side was very good. On the sweet side for sure. The samosas were $7.99 plus tax for two. The hospitality was good. The young man at the counter was informative and the young lady who made my chai was very nice. They offer plenty of inside and outside seating. It's a great place for meet ups. They offer a very good range of eats.

Mango lassi- tasty but on the thicker side

Chaiwale & Co is a new Indian fusion cafe that has recently opened! I like how there is quite an expansive selection of drinks and desserts. Also, I appreciate that all drinks can be ordered hot or iced, making it easy to order according to your preference. I got a hot pistachio latte with oat milk and it was even better than I envisioned. The flavor was spot on, and they even topped it off with latte art. Just a heads up that getting oat milk or almond milk cost an additional $2.50, which is among the highest upcharges I've seen for alternative milk. The mango lassi was great too. It's on the thicker side. Service wise, they were quick and friendly. I'll be back for another pistachio latte, and to try some of the desserts next time!

Chaiwale & Co is an Asian Indian fusion drinks and desserts cafe that just soft opened recently in a structure adjacent to the Sorrento Food Court in Sorrento Valley. This is the first location outside of their home base in Orange. The building it took over housed a short-lived Indian restaurant. The interior retained its dark colored walls, but the decor was spruced up with tea kettles and a large mural on the wall to the left of the service counter. Parking was plentiful in the lot shared with several other businesses in the plaza. I visited during their limited operating hours between 5 and 10 pm. There was quite a throng of customers already seated both inside and outside waiting for their food/drink. The line to place an order was rather short. Menu screens hung on the wall behind the register. The top screen listed the food offerings that included two breakfast items, burritos, prantha, small bites, desserts, ice cream, and cookies. The bottom screen displayed the beverages that included coffee, tea, chai, lattes, matcha specialties, energizers, and non-caffeinated drinks. The chai could be ordered as a kettle that serves up to four people. Baked goods and desserts were on display at the counter. I initially wanted a Samosa as a savory bite, however that item was already sold out for the day. My selections were a piece of the Kulfi Tres Leches Cake along with a Double Matcha Cardamom for a drink. The cake had some flowery toppings and was soaked in sweetened milk. It was a nice dessert albeit pricey at nearly $8 for a small slice. The beverage was more disappointing because neither the matcha nor the cardamom flavors were strong as I would have expected for a double. I will return to try one of the five chai flavors. This place does have a lot of potential although I feel a more focused menu would be beneficial. Based on what I tried, I gave a 3.5 star rating for my first experience at Chaiwale & Co.

    Aloo paratha - Pretty good
    Nikhil U.

This place has a nice hangout vibe, but the best part i feel is that its open at 8am. I hope they have enough traffic to keep these hours. You can actually come get a chai and a paratha for breakfast before work and this is exactly what I did on my first visit. The masala chai was excellent. Piping hot and perfectly spiced. In general I think its too big of a serving to have in one go. The aloo paratha was a pleasant surprise. Again piping hot, aloo stuffing was also delicious and the paratha itself was cooked perfectly. The only complain i had was that i felt robbed of more paratha due to the odd shape :) Will definitely be back here and try the baked goods that look interesting.

Newer redesign of what was formerly another Indian place in the sorrento valley plaza. It is cafe style, mainly for quick bites and beverages rather than full sit down meals. The redesign is absolutely stunning, very well done and a nice place to spend time. The chai is really good, and there are several twists that are available to try as well. The kulfi cake was a highlight packed with cardamom flavor. Service was friendly and prompt enough, although it was about 10-15 mins to get the drinks which is a bit longer than expected. Overall great place to have a quick snack and sip a delicious chai, would return!

The restaurant decor is beautiful, and it is really in a wonderful location. I also really liked the different choices for drinks, bites, and desserts. The butter chicken flavor was really good however the inside of my burrito was cold which led me to realize that it was likely reheated. I wasn't pleased with that. I also had the rose refresher which was heavy on the syrup but tasty, I would recommend going half syrup for it. It's mixed with a really nice sparkling water. I'd like to come back and try the chai and samosas or parathas - as many have said those are the better staples. The service was fast and kind, it wasn't too busy on a Monday afternoon, I'll definitely be back.

Wow--what a crowd. There's a long wait to get a table or even a cup of tea. That said, it's a great spot overall. It's family-friendly, with enough space for kids to move around while adults can relax and enjoy a good conversation. The vibe leans very desi, so don't expect typical coffee shop service. The tea itself is pretty good. The food could be better. I got the ginger chai and it definitely had a bit of a kick.

Was so excited to see a really cool evening hangout spot in the Sorrento Valley Tech cluster. A place like this was really required in this neighborhood. Karak Chai as well as Masala Chai were really good (Strong tea flavor) and the best part is every tea is made to order (And so sweetness can be completely adjusted). Opening day rush meant that several items we wanted were unavailable... Will def return to try those. And oh, the Samosa was really good too !!

I have been going to the Chaiwale in Orange once every couple of months so I was very excited to see that they opened in San Diego. They continue the same quality, service and take ambiance even beyond! This location is big, has plenty of seating and continues the tradition of making each chai order fresh (stove-cooked). Do keep in mind it might take a while to get your chai since it's fresh cooked but it's worth the wait!

Forget the syrupy coffee-shop version of chai that tastes like someone waved a cinnamon stick over steamed milk. This is the real conversation. The first sip is unapologetic. Cardamom arrives first, followed by ginger that wakes up your palate. Cinnamon and clove settle in, while a touch of black pepper lingers just long enough to remind you this drink comes from a tradition refined over generations. It's not trying to be dessert. It's trying to be chai. What makes this place special isn't just what's in the cup. The atmosphere is as welcoming as a warm mug of chai itself. You walk in, the aroma of spices fills the room, and for a few minutes the pace of the outside world fades away. And don't expect your drink to appear in 90 seconds. This isn't Starbucks, and that's exactly the point. Every cup is crafted with care, giving the tea, spices, and milk the attention they deserve. Good chai isn't rushed, and you can taste the difference. It takes time. The tea is bold enough to carry the spice blend without being overwhelmed, while the milk softens the edges without dulling the experience. Every ingredient earns its place. Good food tells a story about where it came from. Good chai does the same. This cup is warm, honest, and deeply satisfying. Order it. Find a seat. Let them work their craft. Some things are worth waiting for.

The see-through windows, the bar seating along the windows that open up, and the one-way traffic across the cafe...all screams cozy and articulate. I like that they post the menus outside too, in case of long lines, so that you don't flip and freak out when you get to the front and don't know what to order. What I've tried off their menu so far, were Americanos, Lattes, hot and cold. Cold drinks are my default though, you can never go wrong with iced coffee. Their white chocolate is popular, they run out quick, but regular choco does well in a pinch. I absolutely love the part where they give the cup to you at the end of the bar, for adjustments and adding in more milk/sugar. And also to see latte art before closing your cup. I don't know what it is, but that part in aspect allows you to take some time to appreciate coffee in general and then go back to the real world. It's just the little things that matter. Also, the employees are just always super uber nice here. They don't judge you for ordering two cups of coffee in one go, they actually commend the action!

Ambience 9/10 Lunar New Year Croissant Described as a croissant filled with sesame and almond paste, this is a good but not great croissant. It has the layers, it has the chew, but it's no better than a croissant you would get at a number of other bakeries in the area. But those other bakeries are charging $4-7 instead of $10! The almond and sesame flavors were both very subtle and make me believe there is just a very minimal amount used in the recipe. Would not recommend even as a chewy over crispy croissant guy. 5/10 Creme brûlée latte Pretty much what I wanted without description. Creamy, noticeable but not overpowering vanilla flavor, and a lovely burnt topping for bitter balance. The coffee still comes through meaning this is a well crafted latte, not a dessert. This one actually comes at a pretty decent price too. 8/10 Yuzu & lime tart Their take on meringue pie is composed of a graham crust, yuzu mousse, and a meringue topper with a circle of lemon curd gel. To my taste, there is too much sweet on this plate, needing some balance of tart. But the textures of each component were on point: fluffy meringue, thick lemon gel, dense crust, and substantial yet airy mousse. Torching the meringue at home added a bitter element which I think made the sweetness more palatable. Would have liked the citrus to be more present. 5/10. All in all I would choose other sweets shops at most shopping centers than return here but for drinks this is a pretty good option.
