My dad, who is always here in Miami for work or vacation, recommended that we go here for dinner and it was the best recommendation! The food was DELICIOUS! We ordered the pescado con mariscos, chaufa mixto and the passion fruit dessert. The dishes were super flavorful without being over salted or heavy. The dessert was tart and sweet- my favorite combination. Even the lemonade I ordered was fresh and tasty. The service was just how I like it- not overly chatty, but friendly. This is a great Peruvian Spot in South Beach. Expect lots of salty dishes and seafood . Lomo Saltado 16.95 Seasons beef with onions, tomatoes , and a juicy sauce tossed with French fries. Very delicious. Pollo Saltado 15.95 Similar to the beef one only with chicken, pretty good but I'll stick with the beef next time. Chanda Mixto al Chalan 21.95 Fried rice with steak, chicken, shrimp, calamari, mussels, and octopus . It was very good. Like all the dishes here it was very salty but overall a great dish. Enjoyed an early dinner here this past weekend. The service was warm and friendly. When I needed more time to review the menu they didn't just disappear, but came back in a reasonable amount of time. I started with a hearty chicken stew. It had delicious flavors and perfect creamy texture from the yucca. The chicken was also soft, well cooked. Then I had the fish ceviche prepared medium spicy as I requested. It was fresh and delicious and came with the two types of Peruvian corn as well as boiled sweet potato. Based on the reviews, photos, and reasonable prices, I bookmarked this place prior to our Miami trip. The result - Chalan On the Beach is another winner in my books. We came here for dinner a few weeks ago. The place wasn't busy and we got seated right away. I opted for a lighter meal and ordered the grilled fish. The menu didn't specifically say what the grilled fish came with, but I got it with white rice and salad. We shared the tostones (i.e. fried plantains) and it came with the spicy green sauce on the side. Everything was delicious and filling. Service was good and attentive. Let me just put it out there. This is our first time trying Peruvian food. We order Lomo Saltado and the seafood fried rice. If you are vietnamese these dish resemble bo luc lac and com chien do bien. The only difference is that the rice in all two dishes are undercook and hard. My family didn't care much for the extra carbs (french fries) in the Lomo Saltado. Flavor is good, not too salty. Fried rice was a bit oily. read more

Been a big fan of both Chalan restaurants location in SW Miami and Miami Beach, but haven't been to Chalan on the Beach in a couple years, so since We decided to make this a beach weekend it was almost automatic to go for Peruvian food on Saturday night. As expected on weekends this restaurant has a lot of regular customers as well as tourist and full on weekends and since they don't take reservations I suggest you give yourself ample time. We arrived late about 9:30pm Saturday night but due to being with my elderly mother we were seated in about 15 minutes. Food in all Peruvian and they have a very varied selection, so if you like seafood, chicken or been there will be something for everyone. Waitress came quickly to our table and apologized for no having warm bread that they give each table due to how busy it was all day and had run out. I ordered seafood ceviches as appetizer and the Arroz Chaufa w/Seafood and my mom ordered grilled bass fish w/veggies (all low sodium). You may ask why I'm giving them 3 stars if up to now all things discussed was positive? My biggest complaint was service, even though our waitress was very friendly when she took our order she later dissapeared so when we wanted to order drinks or an extra plate she was nowhere to be found and we had to ask other waitresses to help us out. Later as I went to restroom found that the had her cleaning floors and restrooms before they close for the night at 11:00pm. When I said we had been looking for her she came over and took our dessert order, I understand employees wanting to get there cleaning responsibilities done early on a Saturday night, but service shouldn't forsaken customers expense. Everyone in dinner party was disappointed with service and experience that evening and kinda ruined the experience. Not saying that we will never go back to this place, but management should make sure Clint's are taken care of before they assign them to do something else. read more

If you love noodles and seafood, order the Sautéed Spaghetti with Seafood (Tallarin Saltado de Mariscos). It's a spaghetti dish made with calamari, shrimp, mussels and octopus pieces. I'm trying to think of a sentence (or word) to describe this dish. It's really, really (really) good. I was pretty impressed and would order this dish again in a heartbeat. Hmm unpopular opinion, but I'm not a huge fan. I've been here twice now, and while I think the service is great, I find the food to be just okay. The arroz con mariscos is okay-- both times I ordered it, some of the seafood was tough/rubbery, and lacked flavor. The shrimp in it were pretty good. The green sauce definitely helped, ask for some. The prices are South Beach reasonable. I'm not sure I'd come here again, though it is convenient and not as touristy as other restaurants in the area. read more

We must have walked past this place a half a dozen times before we decided it was where we'd spend our last dinner in Miami Beach this go around. The service was hospitable and the ambience was pretty chill. Based on their hours of operation I'd say they're more of a lunch spot (they close at 9, I believe) We got there about 7:30. Our waitress was super helpful with the menu despite my indecisiveness. I knew I wanted fish- last night by the sea but they mainly have sea bass- which is wonderful but with us getting the fried fish/shrimp platter I wanted something else. Wound up getting what my husband was getting the lomo saltado. It reminded me of something my dad makes- French fries instead of the potatoes. Very good none the less. Lots of flavor in the onions, steak, fries, and tomatoes. The pescado was also fantastic. It was a large piece of fish with mushrooms, sauce, and shrimp on top. The menu has photos on it which made it easy to pick what we wanted to order. The restaurant is not very big, so I recommend going early to avoid a long wait. Found this place on Yelp and I'm so glad I tried it! It's right off of Lincoln Road, and way more authentic than the tourist-trap restaurants there. We ordered the Jalea Mixta aka "Fried Seafood Mountain" which was a great appetizer for our family to share. There is a good mix of seafood, and the fried fish is done extremely well. Don't forget to ask for extra green sauce if you love spicy flavors! We also ordered the Lomo Saltado, and the flavor of the meat was perfect. We sat indoors because we had a larger group, but outdoors is definitely an option if you are in a party of 3 or less. read more

Visiting Miami for the first time we were in the mood for Ceviche, this restaurant was recommended to us by a friend and the food was delicious, especially the ceviche! We got the mixed ceviche which is what is pictured and it tasted like it was marinated for a long time so flavorful. The rest of the table got the lomo saltado, spinach and basil spaghetti, and Aguadito Mixto (all not pictured). No complaints with any of the dishes except the aguadito mixto was salty in my opinion, which I added some water and it was fine. Only issue I had was the service, the food took a long time to arrive and other tables received their food before ours though we arrived and ordered first.
