Yikes!!! We came here one night last week after the rush ended, and to say we were disappointed was an understatement. Don't get me wrong, WE LOVE CHEDDARS. It's our go-to dinner place, great prices, (normally) great food, great service. We especially love the waiter Chicago and Aaron! But this night, it was awful! We all order our food, I got fried fish, a baked potato with butter and cheese, and a broccoli cheese rice casserole. My friends food came out piping hot! Fresh pot pie, delicious shrimp, crunchy fries, you name it. But my baked potato and casserole was so cold the butter and the cheese didn't even melt. So I requested new sides. The waiter was new, but apologetic, and after a bit of a wait I'm presented with new sides. Again, they're COLD. not even steaming, nothing. So I grab someone else and tell them to bring me their manager, they scurried off and I never saw the managers face. By the time they bring me my THIRD baked potato and casserole, the same casserole that they'd taken back, so obviously thrown into the microwave and nuked so long that it was burnt on the bottom and tasted of rubber. No refund was given, no manager ever came by, and I left hungry. read more

It was alright. Cheddar's was one of my go-to's in Tyler & in Dallas off of Greenville Ave. This location is lacking. The food is okay-ish. It could be because they're always so busy. I most likely won't be back to this location. It's not awful, but there's many more options that are much better. read more

We had a dinner on Sunday(2018/12/2) night there. The service is horrible, very slow. The waiter just disappeared most of the time, After we finished eating I have to ask the manager in order to get the check. The manager also offered no apology no comment whatsoever. My fiancé and I had a great experience there last night. Billy was our server, he was so awesome. The Texas sweet tea was the bomb. If Chili's had a fish tank and even crappier food than they currently do, then you'd have Cheddar's. I've lived nearby for 2 years now and had not yet visited. I'd been to a Cheddar's in other parts of Texas in the past and always remembered that the place was unimpressive at best. One day I was just hankering for some cheese fries and figured I'd try something new. I've been baffled at how full the parking lot always seems to be for such an unimpressive place. At 4pm on a SUNDAY, the parking lot was completely full. I'd ordered my food to go but the waiting area was just wall to wall people. I'm still confused about that one...you just don't see that many people trying to eat at that time of day. I made my way to the bar, which was also full..every seat taken with a considerable amount of old people and children. It was very loud and the exact kind of environment you DON'T want to dine in. As I mentioned earlier, the one saving grace is the big fish tank. It's a cichlid freshwater tank and quite large...fun to watch. Not like you really get the chance to enjoy it in that atmosphere though. The cheese fries were terrible. Worse than fast food fries. I ate about three of them, regretted it, and dumped the rest. I'd also ordered some of their croissants due to the reviews raving about them. All they are is a relatively fresh croissant with honey butter melted on top. THAT IS IT. The croissants themselves weren't very flakey and not that good. You can get better croissants at Starbucks. Better honey butter at Whataburger. When you can get better food at a fast food restaurant, that's how you know you're doing something wrong. Now don't get me wrong, these were edible....and clearly the best thing on the menu. But if the best thing you've got on the menu can be outdone by a Starbucks drive thru visit? You've got some serious problems. The service was also very sad. It took some effort to get one of the teenagers behind the bar to assist. The order was wrong, but I'm glad that they at least went through it with me so that we figured that out. Thankfully it didn't take too long to fix the issue because I was itching to get out of that overcrowded mess. Do you want to deal with a crowded restaurant and spend time waiting to eat bad food? Then come to Cheddar's! I'm pretty sure they microwave everything on the menu. Save your calories and go anywhere else. Even Applebees puts this place to shame and that place is terrible. read more

Gross. Staff is friendly. The food is super cheap, but tastes like it too. This is the sort of food that gives American cuisine a bad name. It's like a crappier Chili's or Applebee's that uses even cheaper ingredients. What I find most hilarious about Cheddar's is that not only do their burgers by default come topped with American "cheese" but you can't even ask for cheddar substitute... Come on guys! It's in the restaurant's name! To those who think this review comes across as "snobby" or whatever, please don't misunderstand. I like Taco Bell sometimes. I can appreciate cheap food. But cheap food that tastes like garbage is inexcusable. If you want cheap but still tasty chain-restaurant-esque food, go to Two Rows, or even one of the nicer drive through's like Raising Cane's (right next door), or In-&-Out Burger (right next door to Cane's). Stopped by the restaurant about 30 minutes before closing. The wait staff was busy but very helpful. VERY HELPFUL. We ordered an appetizer and two meals, one being the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. Upon delivery, the waitress informed us of a mistake in the kitchen, where the gravy was discard by accident. So the dish was delivered without gravy. I know, chicken fried steak without gravy. The manager instantly arrived and said he would remove the appetizer from the bill, and I agreed to this, but later realized that I could not eat this with no gravy, and the cost for the dish should have been removed, not the appetizer. I was trying to be sympathic to their closing situation, but this should ot have happened. Although I have had a number of great experiences with them, this was not one. This is conveniently located near my office, so I eat here several times a month. It is what it is, chain restaurant food, however, it is better than most other chains I have been to. Love: Their tomato vinaigrette, their chicken tenders, broccoli and cheese casserole, and their croissants. Hate: Having a solid chunk of ice in the bottom of my salad and inattentive servers, however, at least it was ice, right? I will continue to go here as long as the food stays consistent. Cheddar's in Allen is a hot spot for the family typically every other week. It's quick,fast and a hot meal on a day when Mom just doesn't want to cook. :) Service can be temperamental when ordering here..Unfortunately,we haven't been back in a month or so due to seeing a waiter digging for gold in his hindquarters then serving up our food. We graciously declined asked for a manager and ran for the hills.Otherwise, you certainly will receive a good quantity of food based on the dollars you spend here.The lemon pepper catfish and chicken strips are our favs. I would recommend always observing your hostess/waitress when you can. This place should get 5 stars for pricing... the prices are super reasonable and they don't skimp on the portions...even at the low low price points. We've gone twice now and ordered pretty much the same thing. If you're ever been to Rafferty's - Cheddars reminds me of a Rafferty's or a Cracker Barrel style Chili's. We all decided to give the place a whirl one afternoon after church. We expected a long wait and were super surprised when we were told 15 min and probably waited only 10. We had chicken and waffles, catfish, chicken tenders, and a mango something or another margarita. The margarita was large enough to share between 2 of us. The sides weren't the best - broccoli casserole, mashed potatoes; the coleslaw as standard and tasty enough. They were decent but plain. The fried fish was freshly fried though the fillets could have stayed in the hot grease about 120 seconds longer. The chicken tenders are good - but it's almost not fair to give a lot of credit for tenders...I mean, if screw up chicken tenders....... The waffle is standard/good. The cocktail, standard. The croissants were the stars - melt in your mouth buttery goodness. I ate 3 by myself the last time we went. Honestly, 3 more and that could have been my meal. Bottom line, portions and prices are 5 star material. The food in general is about 3 star - not bad, just okay. read more

We always look forward to a nice lunch here. The onion rings are our favorite, however Sunday, they really let us down. Part of our order not delivered, no follow up on dry burgers, fish wasn't bad onion rings were still good. After we had ate, waiter came by to see if we needed refill on empty glasses. Cheddar's is the definition of family dining. It's not sparkly and new, it's not fancy and it's reasonably priced. It's the kind of place you wouldn't have to feel horrified bringing an embarrassing relative or messy child out to dine with you. The food is actually pretty tasty for such a mediocre setting. And on a Friday night at around 8:30pm, there was no wait for a party of 2. My fiance ordered the salmon, which was actually really quite tasty and reasonably priced at under $10. I ordered the chicken caeser salad. The dressing was good but they add penne to it for some unknown reason, which really made it the opposite of the health-conscious dish I was looking for. In a nutshell, it's a great place to go when you're not looking or feeling your best but don't want to wind up eating at Chipotle for the 4th time this week. read more

Ask for Garrett! He was a fantastic server. After a hard day for my husband and I went to Cheddar's for a much needed dinner break. We were a bit skeptical of how many people were there, but we were seated within 15 minutes (we were told 30) and Garrett was very attentive and made us feel at ease. He was busy, but he didn't rush us at all and wasn't annoyed by my indecisive choices back and forth between the salmon and steak. He simply laughed and recommended the salmon. He was very knowledgable of the menu. He made us laugh a lot, and he was just a very nice guy. We got the Spinach dip, my husband had the tortilla soup, and I had the salmon. This is one of my favorite restaurant chains, but I have the same complaint across the company. The service staff are really slow. Also, it seems there is a, at times, bad communication between them and the cooks. Now when I do carry out, which we now do more often than dine in, it is great. The food is ready in 10-15 minutes and the folks at the bar does a great job. Now again this is at about every location I have visited. Things really need to improve with the service staff. I am not usually up for a meal at a chain restaurant. I usually find them to be bland and unexciting. I was surprised when my wife and I have lunch at this location. We had excellent service and both of our meals were very good. Not a 5 star good but a solid 4. Their menu is very complete with many interesting choices. I will certainly go back for more. Lastly, the building and decorations are beautiful. Much nicer than your average chain. We are new to the area and are checking out as many restaurants as possible. We went here a few months ago on a busy Saturday afternoon. We waited and waited for the waiter/waitress to ask for our drinks, it took about 15 minutes. I saw several employees standing near the restrooms chit chatting. It took about 45 minutes to get our lunch. Thinking this was a fluke visit because we've had good service in the past, we decided to try it for dinner tonight...we were seated at our table promptly, but we waited for over 10 minutes for a waiter. He came by and said he would be with us in a minute. He went behind the wall and we didn't see him again. We just got up and left. My wife and I have been frequenting Cheddars (the chain) since the late 80's. I have to say that over the past few years we've gone more then ever. Great food, GREAT value, good service, etc. The new Allen location is very nice, food is consistent , and the old manager from Plano is now at this location. Took my son for lunch one day. We were seated and given menu's. Noticed people coming in behind us. We ordered a couple of burgers, nothing special. I noticed them get served before us. I asked the waiter about this and he told me that the cook lines are different. The people over there ordered a lot of fried items that are cooked in one line, Grilled items go a different route and typically take longer due to the attention to the detail by the cooks. Tonight our family (12people) visited Cheddars in Allen. Matt. The manager, made sure we got a table quickly even though they were short staffed and personally help to serve our food. It was our granddaughter's 8th birthday and Cheddars is her favorite place to eat. Thanks to Matt and our wonderful server we were able to have a delicious, quickly served dinner. Ok, so we tried it again today at 3:45pm. Restaurant wasn't very busy and looked like it had plenty of help. We were seated right away. Waited, waited and waited. NO one came to help. So we got up and left. Someone tried to talk to us on the way out but I don't think they even worked there. Pathetic. The last time we were here there was absolute chaos on the tickets. I actually ended up paying for someone else's meal and then paid for our meal and was told we would get a credit back on the meal. Never saw it. I had a horrible experience and will not be returning to Cheddar's. Before I became vegan this restaurant was a comfort place of mine in which I throughly felt that the customer service was excellent, however that is no longer the case. I went to this location per request of my dad after trying to explain to him that vegans have a difficult time eating out, I figured I would get a salad. Upon arriving I asked the host if there was a vegan/vegetarian menu (just hoping) he said he would figure that out and bring one to me if it was available. He sat us down and our waitress came to take our drink orders. My dad ordered water and I ordered a raspberry lemonade half watered down (because I think they are too sweet and I prefer them watered down). She then asked us if we would like any appetizers I quickly scanned the appetizer menu and explained to her that we wouldn't be getting any since there are no vegan options. She rolled her eyes and walked away later bringing out our drinks mine which included ice that I drank without complaining so I wouldn't further aggravate our waitress. About 2 minutes after that the manager came out to speak with us, he went over the menu quickly and explained the only vegan option would be to order a salad without cheese or meat. I asked about the caramelized pecans in one of the salads and he said he would have to go check the ingredients list, then he went back to the kitchen. The waitress came back to our table and asked if we were ready, I said that I wasn't but that she could take my dads order and I'd put mine with her manager when he got back to me about my question. She took my dad's order then asked again if I was ready, I asked again if she would just take his order back to which she replied in a very unprofessional manner "well do you just want me to put this ticket in or what?!" I said "that's exactly what I want you to do." Then she aggressively sighed and walked away shaking her head. The manager came back out and confirmed that the caramalized pecans were vegan and I asked if I could order the salad containing that without the chicken and cheese. He said of course then proceeded to ask me if I take vitiman b-12 supplements. I felt flustered at this point as that is automatically a question people use to attack vegans with (if we don't take them then we "have a defecientcy" and if we do then we are "hurting animals") I chose to say that I do take b-12 supplements and of course he chimed in with "those are a biproduct of animals" with a smirk on his face as if he had 'caught me red handed'. He then justified his statement of accusation by flaunting that he knows this because he has a culinary degree. I then explained how I'm getting a culinary science degree and I know what I am consuming and that my b-12 supplements are plant based. After that I was complaining to my dad about everything and I guess they heard me because they didn't act mean after that. When our food was brought out to us I literally only got salad leaves with tomatoes, not what I asked for. Again I ate it without complaining because I didn't want to trouble them further as the whole situation was uncomfortable for everyone. When we got the check I was charged for a grilled chicken salad, which was reduculously over priced for what I recieved which was basically a house salad with a lot of shame. I don't take my veganisim lightly nor do any other vegans I know and it is absolutely horrendous for employees to treat me the way they did. I didn't go into the store yelling at them for promoting the abuse and mistreatment of animals and they should've shown respect for my dietary choices and kept their negative thoughts to themselves. read more

Seriously another place I haven't yelped about?! I've been to Cheddar's many times and never bothered to yelp. Cheddar's is the ultimate go to family restaurant for Texas sized portions at a low cost. I've tried several different items from their menu and my favorite is CFS! That is if you're really hungry and can eat tons of calories. But since I'm on a semi diet I would choose a fish dish, grilled of course. For the sides I normally get mashed potato and veggies. The broccoli casserole is good with CFS but too much to have with fish. Pretty much their food is good and every item I've had here never disappointed me. This location however took in place of the one located on 75 and park. This location is fairly new and would recommend for hungry cheap folks like me. read more

I really, really like Cheddar's. This restaurant had the same extraordinary portions as other locations I've visited: share the chicken fingers basket or anything easily, the purely-addictive queso, comforting broccoli-cheese casserole, tasty croissants, and a Pain Killer or Maui swirled Margarita with a Cactus Juice shot to boot. The restaurant was full, but the service was terrific and I was in within 20 minutes. Since I discovered this location, I've been twice and would even drive a little out of my way to visit--this is like visiting a true southern grandmother's (if she can cook well) home. read more
