I see a lot of negative reviews and while I don't doubt they may be genuine in their minds, I didn't see any of that. We decided to have a combo DUAL birthday and a high school graduation celebration. 10 total (plus a baby). My niece made the reservation. When we arrived the table was already set up for the large party. Our waitstaff was Jordan (hopefully that's how he spells his name as our daughter is also a Jordan spelled the same way). He was friendly and respectful of our large group and time. Everything came out timely from appetizers to meals. I didn't see any dirty tables or dirty floors (side note: two of our party members work in the food service industry and they both commented how nice the restaurant and staff was). Cheddars is decent food for a decent price. Heck, what our half is bill was was less than a dessert for 4 in New York City. Visited Cheddar's in Allen with my family Christmas Eve. My Grandmother made a reservation a week in advance to ensure we would have a table for ten available for the holiday. Upon arriving, this restaurant was packed to the brim! After waiting 45 mins, the mgr sits our party of 10 people...wait for it...at two different tables across the isle from each other. One a booth, the other a table. Not kidding. I look at the mgr seating us and said, "You think it's okay to sit our family apart on Christmas Eve?" Little did she know, several of our family members had driven from all over Texas to be with each other for the special occasion. She told me we would have to wait some more for another table. There we stood in the middle of the isle waiting for another table to be bussed. The manager seats us again in the furthest table away from the front door. My 90 year old Grandfather is visibly handicapped. He has trouble walking, he slowly inches his way to the very back of the restaurant. After waiting another 15 mins, our server finally arrives to take our order. To be fair, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. This is the only redeeming quality. My Grandmother told me the mgr that seated us, is the person that took her reservation a week prior. It is apparent the management does not respect handicap people, the elderly, and lacks any type of customer service training. Dine elsewhere! read more

Due to the pandemic, we still are not eating out much even though the state has been opened up 100%. We thought for sure our son would want his birthday dinner out but he chose Cheddars to order in for take out. We had a long order to feed 6 people and guess what---Cheddars prepared everything perfectly and there was nothing wrong with any meal! I had forgotten about the honey croissants that come with each meal but there was a container full of them! Skip this place. Cheddars used to be a great place to eat until Darden bought them. We are sat quickly and then wait 20 minutes to be waited on. Then order. 20 minutes later they can't bring burgers that aren't over cooked. This is supposed to be a burger place. Not anymore. Sitting here the whole time watching garbage on 3-4 tables surrounding us yet nobody cleans them. Manager comes over and says they only have one bus person really? Came here on a Wed for dinner with my kids. The restaurant was less than half full, yet we're told it will be a 10 min wait. This has become a common problem at this location. I looked around and asked why the wait just as the manager walked up. He was very rude and sarcastic, challenging me that waiting was the best thing they could do for their customers since they were short staffed. I replied that searing them with a drink or some chips would be far preferable. His looking down his nose sarcasric attitude was too much, so we left. What a terrible manager! We were super excited bc last time we were he we had an awesome experience. Unfortunately today we did not have a good experience. We waited for 10-15min to be greeted by a waiter. Thankfully CARLOS came by before we walked off and took out orders and got us drinks. It was expressed that this is not his section and we appreciated that he let us know that he was not suppose to be our waiter but that he would serve us. There was definitely communication to the manager that we waited for a while and TYLER the manager came and apologized for the delay and they gave us free croissants while we waited for our food. We appreciate how much they tried to fix this mistake but this is the second time this has happened to us. For anyone going just be understanding and know that there are young people as waitresses and it seems like they are limited on experience and communication at this location. This place is horrible. Food was nasty besides the croissant. Way too much salt on the reheated chicken. Rice salty and nasty as well. Bartender was very sweet but had zero clue how to make a martini properly and zero training. No music playing and it was freezing cold in there. 4 different sets of customers including us complained. This most recent time, the hostess advised the wait would be 10 to 15...but waited at least 20. When we got sat, there were many open tables. Short staffed? The silverware was dirty, which definitely didnt make a lasting impression. The manager appeared to comp the meal for the table next to us and apologized profusely. I eat here with my family every two weeks or so and the last three times we've eaten here the service has been terrible. Today it took 15 minutes before we got our drinks and another 45 minutes before the food arrived. We ordered chicken strips and fries; not exactly some time intensive culinary masterpiece. While we were waiting for the waitress to remember to bring us our check, a buzzer at a nearby table began to wipe the table down with a nasty towel he pulled out of the bottom of his bus bin, which was full of slimy liquid with food chunks floating on top. He shook the towel out and proceeded to wipe the table down with this slimy towel before coming back with a clean(er) towel to dry up the slime trail his previous towel had left on the table. This place is so close to home and so affordable. It's just one of those places where my husband and I go to when we can't think of where to go. It's a nice looking place for food and drinks that are so affordable and big portioned, even the alcoholic drinks are cheap. The wait time can be 30 minutes depending on which day and time. But they do have a lot of seating area and it's great for groups. My favorite things to order are the chicken tenders (get the appetizer version as your meal because it'll keep you full and it's cheaper), the veggie plate, the mango tilapia, the croissants are amazing! (soft and buttery) They come with every salad. The soups are flavorful. My husband likes the chicken fried steak or chicken, the New Orleans pasta, and the tilapia as well. They also have this awesome veggie plate which might sound boring, but it's great! Check is out, you get to choose a salad or soup and the croissant comes with the salad. The. You get to pick 4 different sides. It doesn't seem like much, but I never finish! This is my definitely go to place for cheap and good food that gets you full. read more

Came in to watch the TCU game, but couldn't because not one of the three employees, including the manager cared to listen. My soup came out ice cold. Had to send it back. Same with salmon and rice. This Cheddar's is not the same Casual Cafe setup you find on LBJ. This is actually Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. Yep, the name speaks for itself. Scratch-made recipes. This is now officially my favorite restaurant for freshly-prepared foods that are easy on the pocket. For appetizers, we devoured the Chicken Tender Basket and the Ultimate Nachos. The chicken tenders were crispy and hot and served with fries. The nachos, you have your choice of either chicken or beef or both. We did both and loved it. We also ordered the Homemade Baked Potato Soup and House Salad. Soup was good and rich. Lots of flavor, not too salty at all. Salad, was a salad. But boy-oh-boy. Do not miss the fine print. Salads are served with a warm, honey-butter croissant upon request. Croissasnts were so melt-in-your-mouth delish that we ordered 6 more. My daughter had the Monte Cristo, so sinful. Melted cheese, ham, turkey - battered and fried - the works. A HUGE portion. My fiance ordered the Homemade Chicken Pot Pie - another awesome choice. I had the frigging-best salmon dish ever - Grilled Salmon over rice. It was perfectly cooked. I didn't expect this from Cheddar's (Well, based on my experience at the LBJ location). The menu indicates that the salmon is served "over rice." This is an understatement. The rice should've been described as served over "homemade, butter rice" or something to that effect. It was so moist and rich, it could've passed for risotto. :) I ate all my rice and couldn't finish the salmon. We had so much food left over. Oh, something you will enjoy even more, their drinks. Yummy margaritas for less than 5 bucks?!? That's crazy! ALL their drinks are moderately priced. Ask for Robert, he is an awesome bartender. Excellent! Seated promptly. The onion rings were even better than I remembered. The fire grilled salmon was perfectly cooked, so moist and flavorful. Sweet potato needed nothing to add, texture perfection, unbelievably sweet. Mango relish was spicy complement. The waitstaff was attentive without being a bother. Husband wasn't impressed with the burger. We've previously enjoyed their ribs and the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, as well as the chicken tenders. Scratch Kitchen rocks! read more

Wow!! The wait times at BJ's and Cheesecake Factory were an hour so we decided to try Cheddars. 30 min wait and the food was soooo good. Such a variety to choose from. We got drinks, an appetizer, entrees, and dessert for under $50 including 10% tip!!! My wife and I called ourselves trying to have a date night at this location. We sat at a high table in the bar area so that we could watch the NCAA Men's tournament while eating our meal. After we sat down, I watched the wait staff walk past us at least ten times, never acknowledging our presence or taking our order. After sitting for 30 minutes for someone to even acknowledge that we were waiting to be served, we left. We ate at the Allen location on 3/18/24. The food was just okay. The service was terrible. Our waitress took our drink and food order at the same time. After the food came, we never saw her again until after we already paid and was waiting for a to go box. We were never offered drink refills. When we finally saw her again I asked for the box and she said she'd be right out. We waited several more minutes, my husband finally took our grandkids out to the car while I continued to wait for the box. Eventually she showed up and I asked her when they stopped offering the croissants, she said they still offered them and asked if I'd like some, I just looked at the empty table and then she offered some to go. We usually go to the cheddars in Grandscape where we have had consistently good service. I don't recommend the Allen location unless you have an endless amount of time to wait. I was going to mention all of this to someone but there wasn't any one at the hostess stand and I didn't see anyone else that looked t like they worked there. read more

Omggg where do I start!! Appetizers was amazing!! I had the homemade chips n queso add beef (which was free, can u believe that??) and cheese fries !! Hot quick n really good!! For the meals I had the cornmeal fried fish with corn n fries, awesome!! We also had a 20 oz steak with loaded mash potatoes n a full rack of ribs- yes we was trying a variety of things lol!! But it was perfect!!! The waiter was amazing, didn't have to ask for refills n she constantly checked on us! Oh n we had some croissants, omg melt in ur mouth!!! Long wait in the lobby with no one to greet us. Hostess was confused once she arrived. We were seated at a booth with a dirty table. Dirty menus and dirty flatware were provided to us by a staff member that was not our server. After a bit of a wait our server showed up and apologized and left. When he returned he took our drink order and then gave us our drinks and took our order. Our drinks needed to be refilled and our server did not return until after someone else dropped off our main entrees. I asked the food runner for drink refills and the side salad that still had not arrived. The runner did not bring them to us. After we were halfway through our meal our server showed up. I asked him for the salad, the drinks and told him the steak was over cooked. Our server returned about ten minutes later with our salad but no drinks. I asked for drinks again. After our meal was about done I got up and walked to the bar to get a drink refill. The female bartender had just finished making some drinks so I asked her for a drink refill. She ignored me. Richard behind the bar walked pass her and gave me the drink refill. I asked our server for a manager and one never showed up. We paid our bill and I left a 15% tip. I also wrote "Terrible Service" on the receipt. Before we went to Cheddar's I sent a message Yelp asking if they offered a Military discount. I told that person of our experience and they stated they would have someone from the Corporate office follow up with me. I will update if they ever do. read more

Why didn't the salad come while he was waiting for the new steak & didn't ask what kind of dressing 2. Never got a glass of water with the Alcoholic beverages - MY HUSBAND had to go to the Bar & order me a WATER with ICE (waited 15 mins @ the bar) The manager did come check on us apologize & they did take the steak off the Bill BUT that's not the point - we didn't get checked on we never saw the manager after new steak came out - 3. Unbelievable disgusting place and so disappointed. I used to love it here. I would go here once every other week or so but over the last year but it's just continued to go downhill. Recently we ordered to go because I was sick. Luckily for me, I found a long thick hair grilled into my chicken so that helped confirm my feelings of never wanting to go back. Then once I brought it back up to show the manager, she wasn't a bit fazed by it and just offered to remake it!!!!! I'm grossed out yet her thoughts were to remake it?! That makes no sense.
