The quality went down so bad. Most of us ordered 14oz ribeyes and my husbands was well over cooked we had to send it back. He ordered his steak medium rare and bro got CONGRATULATIONS. I ordered medium and my steak was cooked well done and was super dry but since I was starving I just took it. I know this isn't a steak house but please put more effort in the cooking. Cheddars is a place to grab a hot, delicious meal for a great price. The quality of the food isn't the best or the worst. It's surprising, good compared to other restraunts that have similar prices. The inside of the restraunt looks really nice. It looks similar to a fancy steakhouse. I usually order the chicken pot pie since it's something unique and tasty. Solid service, generally very fast time from seating to leaving. The food (and I say this in the best way) is thoroughly unremarkable: hot, plentiful, but exactly the same sort of food one would find at any fast casual sit down place. They have gotten rid of most of the signature dishes I enjoyed in the past, save one: their honey butter croissants, which was worth the extra star in this review. August 11th was my 50th birthday...And I wanted to go here. Ironically it was our Server John's birthday too. It was pretty crowded but we got seated quickly. The Appetizer bread was hot and fresh. I can always count on this place to be consistent with food. It's a go to. My favorite dish is the spasagna. Ask for half Alfredo and half meat sauce.. delish! The spinach dip and chips and salsa are great too! I don't recommenced the ribs tho. We were hungry after running an errand and decided to stop by. I checked the reviews and almost decided to turn back. I'm so glad we didn't. Our server was wonderful! She smiled as she took our order and made sure she took our order just right. We immediately got our order. Every single thing we ordered was fresh, just like I love it! Our salad was crisp and fresh and our drinks were amazing! I just wanted to make sure it was clear that this was an amazing place with great leadership and service. I love Cheddars but will not return to the Baytown location. If you are a a Houston sports fan do not go here. My family went to dine here so we could watch the Houston Astros game while we eat. We had to ask 4 times to the tv on the game. All the tvs were on a hockey game. After asking several times, they did change the channel to the basketball ball game. They 4th and final time and midway through our meal , we finally able to barley see the Astros game. The manager didn't really care. The glass was covered in condensation and the floor was moist from the moisture in the restaurant. We sat down and continued to order. I ordered the chicken pot pie with a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad came out and was just wilted romaine lettuce and more of the butt of the lettuce that was all browned. Being raised in Texas, I thought it was pretty much understood that we eat our chicken strips with ketchup. (Or cream gravy. Ranch and honey mustard are for people who are not from Texas.) Imagine my surprise when I asked the to-go employee for a "few packets of ketchup" in my bag and she looked infinitely confused. Her very confused response: "We don't have packets of ketchup. We have bottles of ketchup...." Me (even more confused than she is): "Really? I can't be the first person who has ever asked for ketchup." Her: "Actually, I think you are." What is this blasphemy?!? Anyway, this may be more of a corporate complaint than a location complaint, but if y'all can't get HQ to start sending ketchup packet supply to the to-go counter, then can you at least train the to-go folks to squeeze some out of those bottles into a small condiment container with a lid? I wanted to enjoy Cheddar's, as I have heard really good things about it, but this particular experience (which also happened to be my first) wasn't that great. My boyfriend and I came in at about 8:30pm for dinner, and we were seated pretty quickly in a semi-quiet corner near the back. Our waitress was decently prompt, and took our beverage orders while we scanned the menu. I asked if I could substitute anything with a specific dish (I'm not a huge fan of rice, and so I asked if I could swap that out for some sort of vegetable) and I was told that I could not. As that wasn't a big deal, I asked if I could simply just leave the rice off the plate and the waitress looked at me as if I had just told her that I run over puppies in my spare time. Instead of just rolling with it she told me that the cooks would "look at her like she was weird" if she told them I didn't want the rice. Way to make someone feel welcome! She also didn't write any of our orders down, and because of that, got a few things incorrect when they brought everything out. We were seated right away, which was a surprise since it's always packed on especially on a Saturday. We began by ordering our drinks and appetizer, within 10 minutes they arrived at our table, we processed to order our entrees, and we're waiting for 40 minutes! Until my husband asked the waitress for an update on our food And If it wasn't ready we would like out ticket to go since my toddler was already acting out.
