When the lady said they had little char siu left, she offered us some roast pork as well for no charge! Quality: I came here pretty close to closing but the roast duck we got was really oily and not to mention COLD! Everything we ordered was waaaay too greasy for me. Felt like I was gonna break out! Price: This is probably the main draw. Food here is dirt cheap. Whole duck for $16?!! I'll take two for myself next time! I really want to try this place again but not at around closing. It's dirty, unpleasantly noisy, and cramp. The forte is definitely "Take Out". They should get rid of those tables and make their "Take Out" line more spacious and efficient. Pros: Cheung Hing has the best roast duck that we have eaten. The skin has a bit of a crunch and is not soggy like some take out places. The roast pork is also an excellent choice as well. Spare ribs, squids, and duck livers are a must try. Cons: The roast chicken is a hit and miss. There are times when we order the roast chicken and the meat is under-cooked. Solution? What wasn't ok was being harassed by someone affiliated with the restaurant, while they all watched and talked about me in another language. Really strange. I love coming here to pick up lunch after I get off work. Most of the time I am lucky enough to get parking right in front. I always order the roast duck over rice. The chopper always gives me a decent amount of duck. I also get a half pound of bbq pork for the hubs and the chopper always gives me the skinny pork as hubs doesn't like fatty meat. read more

It was 5pm and there was a line out the door for the meat per lb. That's really more like 10 people in front of me, but that's 80% chinese speakers. If majority of the patrons are natives waiting in the windy cold weather with their kids yelling for them in the car, it should be legit right? After the slightly confusing order (quarter of a pound of bbq pork pls...no not half a pound...less than half, yeah sure that's fine), I took one step to the left to speak with a lady who took my order for hot foods. Got half an order of steamed tofu, fried tofu in some pork sauce (sorry I'm not chinese, I just saw and pointed), and sticky fried rice with Chinese sausage (according to a helpful lady trying to fix my puzzled face). The total was $19.50. They charged for a plastic bag, hot sauce packets, and to go boxes. But there was enough for 2.5 meals. I took everything to go as the place was crowded and that just seemed like the right thing to do. The food was ok. The steamed tofu had some kind of mixed meat overpowered by chives with a sauce that looked liked watered down soy sauce. The fried tofu was pretty good and it had pieces of pork in it so I didn't feel completely like a vegetarian. The pork was soggy, but added flavor to the dish. Sticky rice was really good, not too salty and had a good chewy texture. Finally the reason for the line - bbq pork. It was...ok. I had it, I can cross it off my list, I can move on. If you closed your eyes and couldn't smell, you can definitely taste that it was pork. It was chewy, a bit tender, not too salty, and the outside bbq sauce was what made it good. I wish it had more of the glaze. I don't think I'd go back on line, but if I was craving chinese and no one was there I'd give it another go. read more

(Their soy sauce chicken is pretty good too!) Did I mention that they LOAD the plate up? Best bang for your buck! A few notes-It does help if you speak cantonese and getting take out is the best way to go. It is a hole in the wall so don't expect good table service. I'm a white kid from Wine Country, so my experience with "Chinese food" is very American. I'd read here that this place serves actual, authentic Chinese food. I figure I might as well drop by and give it a shot, especially since it's only a few blocks from my friend's house in the Sunset. The food was delicious. The BBQ pork was tender and sweet but not overwhelmingly so. The rice was cooked just right and the veggies were a good contrast to offset the heaviness of the meat. I took my order back to the house and put just enough sri racha on it. I was so very satisfied. Maybe I was tired, but I had a hard time understanding the people behind the counter. I'll cut them a little slack, though, since English is obviously not their first language, and I managed to order my food anyways. Overall, a positive experience. This place has good BBQ. However, they tend to cheat people. I ordered a whole Thanksgiving turkey from them this year for $69 +tax that I was going to carve at home. Like any normal person, I expected that the whole turkey was going to be in there so I didn't check before I left the restaurant. When I got home to carve the turkey, I noticed that an entire wing was missing from the bird. The bird was also much smaller than the 14-16 pounds they estimated. It was more on the 11-12 pound range. When we called to ask about it, they said the wing must have fallen out in the oven. Now, in all my years of cooking turkey, I don't understand how an ENTIRE WING can fall off especially when the other wing was quite difficult to cut from the turkey. I've always stop by here when I'm the area. The bbq meats is sooo good. The roast pork is crispy and perfectly cooked and juicy inside, must have if you like pork! The roast duck has a unique flavor and just perfect with the white rice. No soy sauce needed! Inside is small and a hot mess but you can order rice dishes and noodles to accompany your bbq. Hey also have the pre-made food you can order at the front. If you're not buying bbq you can skip the line and walk in to sit down and eat and order takeout. Barbecue Pork: small, bone-ridden chunks that were under-cooked and under-seasoned. A Chinese restaurant that does not understand how to deal with pork ?? Leaf Cabbage: No flavor whatsoever. Had to salt and pepper to even stomach the serving. Sticky Rice: Acceptable, but nothing noteworthy. Duck: My wife liked the duck, but little else. What a disappointing experience.... I'm Chinese and I've been coming here since the 80's!! I've had many Chinese roast ducks in my life and trust me when I tell you this is the BEST!! Their duck is so flavorful!! No one else comes close in flavor as Cheung Hing. My dad told me that's because it's Macau style. INSIDER TIP: If you're not going to eat the duck right away, don't let them pour the duck au jus on the cut meat. Ask for the au jus on the side. By the way, it's the au jus that makes it taste so good NOT the plum sauce, so don't let them skip you out of the au jus!! Be careful they'll charge you extra for the au jus. I don't know why, because it was already in the duck before it's cut so why do I have to pay extra, right?! I remember when the duck price was only $8 and they NEVER charged you extra for the au jus, but now it's $15 and they charge you extra for au jus. Really?!!! You'd think they'll just give you the au jus instead of charging you extra for it. You know they're just going to throw that away at the end of the day. I forgot to mention their BBQ pork is one of the BEST I've ever had as well. I just love their duck so much I have to buy one every time I'm in SF. read more

Their BBQ Pork "Cha sieu", is ungodly, i bring it home and pan fry the slices until they turn a bit brown on the sides with of my steamed rice with a fried egg on top with a side of veggie. PERFECTION. Pan fry it, it really brings out the flavor. Their duck is really good but i often don't order it cause its really oily, i recommend their flat roast duck, its not as oily and the skin is a bit more crispy. Wow! A Chinese friend who lives in the neighborhood tipped me off to this obscure gem, vowing it was the best duck in SF. I'm a duck lover and agree--I haven't found anything better. As usual with the most excellent duck places, the prices are rock bottom, putting to shame those shishi places that charge you $30 for the privilege of dining on canard. What are my duck criteria? Crispy skin, moist meat, most of the fat rendered out, and please, not too many feathers left in the skin. Ideally eaten, not hot, but slightly above room temp and definitely before the rendered fat congeals. I've never had anything but duck here. Other items look good, but the duck is so excellent that I can't bring myself to reduce duck consumption to make room for anything else. Heads up: it's tiny and a neighborhood favorite. The place is small and looks abit low~no maintance. price is about 20% more expensive than other Chinese restaurant. I ordered a half, roasted-duck, and they charged me $0.50 cent for the sour source which always comes with the duck with no charge at other restaurant.
