WU-TANG BRUNCH AINT NOTHING TO F$&@ WITH- I just wanna say I love Chichos in HICKORY, BUT as far as this location goes.... this was the most unorganized, awful poop show I've ever been to. I was there over 3 hours (with reservations that started before the event even) and they only brought half the food out and never got the other half out until two hours later? Claiming they had an error with their order tickets even though the whole order was put in at the same time. One of the staff members came to ask if we were okay and then realized half our table wasn't served - they then proceeded to explain what happened stating their tickets got messed up which was whatever- but what was not fine was the awful attitude....so I shrug off because I get it ...they were busy and overwhelmed with this event they have done numerous times.... Then we waited another hour for the other half of our table's food (I know that is just silly at this point)....When i finally decided to speak with one of the managers she has a horrible attitude with me and treated our waitress like trash over an error that was NOT her fault, then when I spoke to the manager's manager because that was not okay to treat the waitress the way she did, (yes I feel like a full "Karen" at this point) her manager didn't seem surprised as to the way this other manager treated us and then said he would comp our meal. After ANOTHER hour, they finally got the other half of the table's food out- that had to be boxed to go at this point because we had sitters with our kids waiting on us at this point, instead of being comped for the meal like promised they only gave us 25% off, charged us for an extra hoodie and then pulled automatic gratuities on not just the food they messed up, but on the retail purchases as well (event hoodies I requested before this whole situation). So of course after having them remove the extra $60 hoodie from the bill, I just paid it. I am a business owner myself so I understand stuff gets fucked up, but as far as the upper Management goes- follow through on your word. I'm not an asshole, hell I give too much leeway In these situations bc I understand from a business perspective, but Chichos yall fucked up the one time I try to plan something special for my big sis. I paid the check of $350+ dollars of food that was barely edible and cold when when got it, but man I feel like I just took a big ol' stick to the butthole. I should have known when there where no prices listed for the menu for the brunch items since this was a special event...:: I should've just taken my sis and her two friends to a five star restaurant at the Cavalier or anywhere else and saved myself the headache and the money for better quality food. I really felt awful for our poor waitress. They're the ones that always get shafted. Moral of this story..... DONT WASTE YOIR TIME ON CHICHOS 29th street. If they decide to make this right with our actual compensation then I'll remove this review along with my Facebook, Google, trip advisor, and yelp review... but since I decided to pay it without a complaint after being promised otherwise then I think it's only right for me to let others know how upset I am about this whole situation and that they shouldn't waste their hard earned money on overpriced food. I ordered online from 29th St store at 5:19 pm on May 9th 2023 And 2hrs later, no pizzas. Well actually, 30 minutes ago staff indicated it was on its way... now 2 hours and staff member representing themself as a manager...who was later identified by "real" Mgr as a staff person... was indignant and accusatory that my order was never placed. Actual MGR found order #53 in their system and verified time and order. Mgr. indicated that my pizzas were perhaps in the warmer... and she would get them right out. Really! I canceled the order on the spot. Pizza after 2hrs in a warmer? Would you really want to eat it? As a local I always support our community restaurants... there are so many wonderful local establishments... this isn't one of them. The service was awful! Go to Doughboys instead!!! The restaurant wasn't that busy. We ordered appetizers, a meal and a pizza to go. Our drinks sat empty and our server Lindsey disappeared. We never got our side of salsa. We were charged for dipping sauces that we got 10 minutes after the chicken and didn't use. Our drinks were never refilled. At the end of our meal, the server told us she forgot to put our to-go order in. So we had no pizza to take with. At this point we just wanted out of there immediately. Then- add insult to injury - Lindsey charged us 18% gratuity!! We were a party of 3. I spoke with another waitress about this and she advised me they are charging all tables a flat 18% gratuity. Absolutely insane!!! So now the waitstaff clearly has no motivation to actually give good service. I wish we had the stamina to stick around and get a refund but we just wanted out of there. Short review this time around, so I apologize to those who expect more depth. We went there for a quick lunch and I will say that the serving sizes were very big. We ordered a Caesar salad,nachos, margarita pizza, and a calzone. The table service was adequate, the kitchen was a little slow, but again with all of the labor shortages I can be understanding on that. At the end of the day though in a restaurant it comes down to the food. And the food was worth three stars. The nachos were OK, the pizza was OK, the salad was pretty good, and the calzone wasn't bad, but it hits about three stars. I will say that the menu prices were very reasonable and if you were trying to feed Manny this would be a good place to go. Cheyenne, the hostess, first told us there were no open tables on the patio. Since we had walked in from the patio, we had already saw 2 open tables. After bringing that to her attention, she told us the tables were dirty and said we'd have to sit inside. We told her we would wait. One of those nights when I needed to do a bunch of work in the hotel room, so I got myself a Chicho's pizza to go and it was damned good. I figured to go with the proper special, the one they call "The Virginia Beach." Loaded with extra garlic, sausage (sweet or hot, I chose hot), onions, mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes. Very tasty, not greasy at all. Quality. And it was prepared fast. I called when I was on the way, it was ready when they said it would be when I arrived. Good stuff! Both where very good! It was enough for 2 meals for us. It was pretty busy and had a fun environment. There was a band playing music on the patio. Great vibe! I just got done with dinner and 1 beer with a friend down the road, got off the bus and biked to chichos for another drink while I waited for my daughter to get off her shift to meet me there. I shit you not, I locked up my bike, sat and had a smoke and spoke with my other daughter on the phone before going into the establishment. When I walked in.. the bartender refused to serve me. Said I was intoxicated.. and I could not be served. It's her tip and her loss. I usually love this place for bite to eat and a beer, but that young bartender was in the wrong and needs to go back to renew her bartenders license. I will never go back.. and damn if I didn't fill out their afternoons there and tip very well. Sober and all. Like chichos could give a damn, but I'm done with. When the food arrived 10 of the 20 wings were cold, and the pizza was cold. It took forever to get drinks (not blaming anyone it was busy) so I went to the bar to get my own. The local regulars were packed in and having fun. The wings were good, and the pizza was okay. I'm not going to say it was horrible, but probably just somewhere to go after a day of drinking. I have not been to Chicho's in years, but I remember the pizza from Atlantic Avenue, and it was wonderful! Unfortunately last night when I went it was not wonderful. It was not busy, my pizza was not hot, and I ordered a piña colada, which had chunks of ice in it, was weak, and above all they charge me $11 for the thing! What a rip off! They need to warn people how much is gonna cost if they order it! So don't order their frozen drinks unless you wanna pay an arm and a leg.
