Sooooo good, sooooo tasty: oh the fried chicken was near perfection - a generous portion. Not "too" anything - not overly crunchy (not dry at all!) not greasy (but juicy!), not too sweet; the spicy sweet is wonderful balance. Flavorful. Not a typical chicken sandwich. This is by far one of my favorite Korean fried chicken spots (at least within a 20 mile radius of the store). The chicken here is juicy, crispy and flavorful. The sauces are pretty good but even without the sauces, it is already *chefs kiss* I really like the gravy sauce as a side to dip both fries and chicken into. They also have budae jjigae (Korean army stew) which is also HUGE plus. Getting both the fried chicken an budae jjigae satisfies a very random craving that I have periodically. Definitely recommend this spot! read more

4/13/23 Updating my review and let me just say... shame. Shame, shame, shame. Shame on me for having my 2nd visit a year later. I came to Chicken Troopers hungry, craving, salivating. I ordered what I ordered the first visit and honestly, I think it was better this time. The sandwich was perfection. That brioche bun shining bright like a Diamond. The chicken coated in their CT sauce was so good I had to pause for a bit to take it all in. The wings were crazy jumbo! I thought to myself, did I order wings or actual fried chicken ( dark meat ). The wings were crunchy and generously coated in their original sauce. I can't believe it took my a whole year ( about ) to revisit a second time. Shame on me for driving to cerritos/ artesia area for Korean Fried chicken when Chicken Troopers is literally 5 minutes down the street from me. To the owner(s), please continue to do what you do. The sandwich and wings here are no joke. You will not be disappointed. This is one of those establishments where you will continue to think about. You won't brush them off. This place is delicious! No doubt once you have some, you'll be coming back. It's like an ex-girlfriend who throws down really good, but you can't stay after. Once you have some juicy chicken you'll definitely be coming back for more. The chicken was fried perfectly. The fried skin and spices were perfect. So tender and juicy. The whole chicken comes cut up and are the perfect pieces to eat. Try the sauce on the side. This way you can enjoy the taste of the chicken and sauce. The French fries had the perfect spice. My partner in crime (Toshi) tried the pickled radishes. He said they were delicious. Overall this place will be on our rostering fried chicken Fridays for lunch. We were driving by and saw this place. It's brand new... so we thought we'd stop foe lunch... we had the original Korean flavored(sauce) 1/2 chicken. Loved this sauce. On the sweet side, not spicy. The chicken trooper sandwich- was very good, but be open for different flavors... Korean flavors were present but delicious. Also had the kimchi fried rice... with an egg on top. Do t get this unless you like the kimchi flavor. Which is present as well, but very tasty with a tiny bit of a spicy kick. The indoor was clean and inviting. The staff is very friendly and helpful since it was our first time here. The owner/manager Brought us out so samples : honey chicken, and the kickin chicken- they were both great. I go to Coffee Code (right across the street) a lot when I noticed this chicken spot was opening up, and when I tried it during their soft opening--wow! Their "Special" is definitely a must try. I've never had marinated fried chicken with onion and cilantro, and now I can't have my chicken without them! Amazing combination and the marinade flavor has a slight spicy kick to it which I love. The Honey Grilled Chicken is also so good. It has a very clean, perfectly balanced taste and the chicken itself is one of the most tender grilled chickens I've had. Not dry at all but very tender and juicy. Also really enjoyed their chicken tenders and gravy fries! Prices I would say is very reasonable, especially for the good quality of chicken you're getting. Also saw they're coming out with chicken and waffles (another fave combo) so very excited to try that. So happy Chicken Troopers is here! Owners are also super friendly! I ordered the sweet and spicy wings and fries with gravy. The fries are thin and skinny like McDonalds fries and topped with seasoned salt. The gravy adds a nice richness to the fries and the Parmesan topping is a nice boost of umami and savoriness. The wings were extremely crispy and juicy. The sauce tastes exactly how it sounds. It has that gochugaru spice that is common in Korean food. Personally, I prefer flavors like soy garlic but all in all this is a well-executed wing that you won't be disappointed with. As a bonus, if you want to save a little money, you can get a small cup of gravy for .50 cents and get fries separately which should be cheaper than getting fries with gravy. I got the kimchi fried rice and order of three piece dumpling. The dumplings taste great but I did not like the rice too much. I found the rice to be mushy. It was kinda good because it was spicy. I've only had the dish two times from two different places in Korea town, which were better. But I gave this place 4 stars because my husband really like the rice. The service was fast and friendly so I may be back in the future to try something else on the menu.
