I usually adore this place, but I really wasn't feeling it today. The churro was really dry and a little stale tasting. The storefront did get a nice facelift (like many other parts of the pier), so it is easier to spot now. Sadly, these improvements probably cost them a little bit, so they've raised the prices on the churros. They are now $2.50 each, and it's 3 for $6. read more

Churros are my favorite dessert, and this is my favorite place to get them. And only 3 for $5! Crunchy and sugary outside, soft and doughy inside. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. They seem to be made fresh too. On two separate occasions (I spread my love of churros to everyone I know...this kinda thing has to be shared) I've ordered about 15 churros and the worker had to make a new batch for me. We were riding our bikes along the pier after dinner at Joe's Crab Shack & stumbled upon this place. We were craving a snack from all that bike riding so we ordered some churros with dulce de leche dipping sauce. You could see that they were homemade right in front of you. They were not in the perfect-est shape like those frozen ones you se in the carts. These were actually hand piped. They were so good. Hit the spot warm & delicious. Crunchy perfection & not to doughy. They were the best churro I have ever had. Don't even get me started on that amazing dulce de leche dipping caramel the consistency of thick creamy rich cajeta. read more

I can't believe how few reviews there are on this place.... Then again, I can't believe its taken me THIS long to review Pier Bakery. I've been coming here for churros FOREVER. Any time I go to the pier I stop by to grab a churro. So good! And the guys (and gals) who work there are always very friendly. Its just a little walk up window, no frills. It irritates me that people on here are complaning about the texture of the churros served at Pier Bakery. These people must be used to eating the old, overcooked churros from Costco. I'll admit that when walking around the pier, I saw everyone walking around with a cinnamon-y sugar-y dough-y stick. What the hell was it? Using my ultra bloodhound-like senses, I followed the scent to the bakery and found out they were churros. And they were $2! Yes, please! Simply delicious, hot, and sugary. The perfect treat. FRESH HOTT CHURROS Wanted some dessert after eating some fresh seafood on the pier and this little hidden shop we found churros. Right under the stairs it is hidden and just a small little shop that produces churros. They had a deal of 3 churros for $6 or each churro at $2.50 if i remember correctly. Our churros were nice and hot but could have used a little more cinnamon on them. THIS PLACE ONLY TAKES CASH just to let you know ahead of time. They serve everything through a little window so there is no seating but you HONESTLY don't need a chair and table for churros ahahha You could also see them make everything since it's a glass window and everything inside look very tidy and clean. read more

I've heard so many wonderful things about the churros from this place, and was expecting some really DELICIOUS ones. However, I was slightly underwhelmed with my experience. Don't get me wrong the churros were not terrible, far better than costco - that's for sure! Starting with the strong points, they were warm, which is great - it's fresh if it's warm! But when we bit into the churro it was far too doughy and had so little crunch to it. *noooo!* They needed to be a bit crunchier and it would have been perfect. Three gigantic, hot, delicious, churros for $5. That's all you need to know. These things are dense, if you're hungry get three of these and be full for a couple of hours and probably crash because of all the sugar you just ate. The only con with these is that they sort of "coat" your mouth (think Cinnamon Toast Crunch), I think it's a side effect of the cinnamon. Excellent! These churros are so scrumptious. Hot, fresh, sweet, and SOFT. Not too soft, but just right. I'm sure many of you have had that experience at an amusement park or carnival in which you are enticed by the look and smell of churros being served next to ice cold bottles of water only to find that the churro is hard as a rock and taste like plastic dipped in cinnamon and sugar. These beautiful churros are cooked to perfection, always crunchy on the outside soft on the inside with the beautiful golden colored caramel sauce. I now go to the pier only for the churros. This place is a little hole in the wall. But they make the best churro. Nothing is pre-made. Everything is made from scratch. They fry them up in small batches and then hand roll them in cinnamon sugar right from the fryer. The guy who owns it always greets you with a smile and is very friendly.
