EVERY time I go to Chuys the food is great! I usually order to go since I work in the area so I am not very sure about the level of service from the actual servers. Whenever I call in the person seems quite chipper lol. I suppose that counts for something. I will continue to get food here. Its not exactly traditional Mexican (thats pretty common around Atlanta) so its uniqueness makes it even better! Oh yea, get the "Big as Yo Face Burrito" with Boom Boom Sauce! I was able to attend the VIP soft opening of Chuy's at Perimeter with my friend, Heather S., and my date through a Facebook invite. I've been waiting for an amazing Tex-Mex or Mex-Mex restaurant in the area, as I miss the food dearly from a little spot back home. Chuy's did not disappoint. Their creamy jalapeno dip truly deserves it's legendary status, and they don't dial down on flavor. The salsa was spicy but not just hot--It had a great blend of flavors that made it something special. I ordered the chile relleno, which was SPICY (expect pepper seeds in the dish, which add bursts of heat). At first I was disappointed, because the sirloin chile relleno did not also have cheese (I'm kind of a cheese fanatic) but the flavor was so great that I could see why it didn't need it. My date ordered the big as yo' face burrito with Boom Boom sauce, which I highly recommend. The burrito truly was MASSIVE, and totally delicious. Both he and I (and Heather S) enjoyed their lime margaritas---This puts other house margaritas to shame, as it is one tasty beverage and anything but average. Needless to say, we will be returning to Chuy's in the near future, and many times after that. read more

A refreshingly fun and delightful place to eat and celebrate. Fresh food and large variety of delectable sauces and excellent service. Wonderful!! The management and staff seem genuinely dedicated to the customer base. I have gluten allergies and they worked with me on the menu, knew the sauces that I could eat and fried my chips in a seperate pan. As a Texan I rate Chuy's the best Mexican restaurant in Atlanta for 5 main reasons. 1. Fresh salsa from freshly chopped tomatoes. Not from freshly opened cans like so many places in Georgia. 2. Thin & crispy chips like they are supposed to be. 3. Homemade flour tortillas. 4. Real beef fajitas not the Mexican stir-fry most places serve. 5. I've been to Chuy's 3 times since the soft opening so I will include pertinent info about all those visits. Before Chuy's to came to Atlanta, I would always get the same thing when I visited locations in Texas, the comida deluxe. Now, since I won't have to go out of my way to get Chuy's I'm going to branch out (although I did have to get the comida deluxe for old times sake on one of my visits). Comida Deluxe- Amazing. Everything is fresh, seasoned just right and overall, fantastic. Fajitas- Marinated in Shiner Bock? Yes please! The flavor was unlike any other fajitas I've ever had. They were cooked perfectly and you get everything you could ever want with them. The pico de gallo was fantastic, the guac is amazing as always. Flautas- I got these at a training lunch before the opening. They told us what to order and this was what was randomly selected for me. The filling was perfectly seasoned and they were perfectly cooked. As usual, everything is ridiculously fresh and also ridiculously delicious. Since I have moved over this way, it is safe to say I am considered a regular here. 9 times out of 10 I've had amazing service at Chuy's (and majority of the time I'm sitting outside, which tends to be forgotten about at quite a fee establishments). Chuy's had set up a booth in front of our apartment complex with information and samples. With all the hubbub and the positive reviews piling up on yelp we just had to check out the new local spot for ourselves. Stopping by on a random Tuesday afternoon for a late lunch, the parking lot was surprisingly crowded. The restaurant is very ...colorful, which was a nice detail on the otherwise gloomy day. We were seated promptly and our very energetic waitress came by to introduce herself and explain the very extensive menu (we must have had pretty lost expressions on our faces). Off of our waitress' recommendations we got the creamy jalapeño dip and an order of guac to go with our endless chip basket while we mulled over the menu some more (so many choices!). The dip was not as spicy as our waitress had led us to believe but it was def tasty. After much indecisiveness, I finally went with the Comida Deluxe, as the waitress pointed out - it's got a little bit of everything. The portions were massive, and I had plenty of left-overs for the next 2-3 meals! The food was fresh and delish and made me believe that Texans really do know their tex-mex. Tonight I went to eat a Chuy's, and this time I ate at the restaurant. It really is a great place and as I was hoping, the food was awesome and the Hatch Green Chile Sauce was not like What I previously had, this one was delicious. I'm very glad I gave this restaurant another try. I had the steak burrito again, my girlfriend tried the Panchos and we had a delicious tres leches dessert. Whatever happened with my DoorDash order on my first time eating from Chuy's, is not something I think I'll have to worry about again. Went to Chuy's for the first time a couple nights ago. Overall, it was good - I'll go back. The salsa is outstanding, and rice (of all things) was fantastic. Definitely the best rice I've ever had at a mexican restaurant. I had the Steak Burrito - it was fairly good, but I probably wouldn't order it again. The sauce was extremely salty (tasted like it had been probably made that morning and sat in a heated vat all day so it reduced down and got very concentrated). The steak was tasty, but the burrito was much more tortilla than meat. In fact, my first two bites had no meat whatsoever. The little lady had the taco salad, which looked pretty standard (freshly fried shell is a plus), and she said it was. I also had some kind of mexican martini (forget what they called it) that had tequila and Cointreau. A very good drink, and they give you about 3 martini glasses worth. Service was good, but rather clinical - our server seemed to be on autopilot. But she was on the ball, so I can't complain. read more

Sad day. I looked forward to a Friday night at Chuy's all week: green chiles, mexican martinis, and good music. I'm sad to report I only got the good music. My mexican martini? A margarita in a martini glass. My green chile carnitas? A special you can only get on Mondays. Our waitress? I couldn't quite tell if she was simply rude as all get out, apathetic, or perhaps, medicinally impaired. Regardless, service was sloooooooooooow, words were slurred, impatience was displayed, and of course, items forgotten (hell, even our entire table of 6 was forgotten). An excellent example? I inquired as to the difference was between the Mexican and Texan martinis. Answer? "Probably the ingredients..." and she turned on her heel and walked away. Seriously. My food was fine but not the green chile heaven I was hoping for. Its sitting in my stomach like a rock as I write this. Boo. And an 18% gratuity charge for 6 people? I guess that's why the waitress could afford to act like such a jerk... All in all, I would return to Chuy's, but only on a Monday to try the carnitas and only if I can be assured that our waitress will not come near our table. Updated review pertains to the 'to go' process. There are 4 designated and numbered parking spots right outside the front entrance to the restaurant. I wanted to pick up some queso and chips/ salsa to go, so no need to look at a menu. The phone number is posted right on the signs, so you just pull in, call em up, give them your parking space number, place your order and your food is brought out to your vehicle in just a few minutes avoiding the usual bar crush during HH. Loved having drinks and dinner in their outdoor patio...until tonight. Our bill was paid and we were sitting outside along with parties at other tables enjoying the evening when a member of the staff walked out and told (not asked) us all to leave. He assumed that we were being deliberately rude and intentionally keeping them past closing, but no one ever told us what time it was or what time they were closing (it was 8:40 pm). Let me tell you why I love this place... the food is not always perfect and the ranch sauce on the fried fish tacos is in fact spicy regardless of what my waitress said... but the amount of heart the staff at this Chuy's has makes up for anything else that might be lacking. There was a situation today with a dude being creepy with his phone in the bar area and it was immediately handled no fuss. The assistant manager that came to talk to my friend and I while the GM handled the creeper was a total doll and seriously one of the nicest people I've ever encountered in the food service industry. Every single time I eat here the humor and attitudes of the staff make it a great time. Hmmm not sure if I caught this place on an off night, but whoa. Up to four employees hanging out at the host stand, tables sitting empty while parties waited for seats, messed up orders...thank goodness the food was decent. I came in yesterday with two friends after a long day of shopping. I had the Chuy Special, a plate consisting of chicken enchiladas made with blue corn tortillas, Mexican rice, and refried beans. I was pleasantly surprised, as I did not have much in the way of expectations for the food. The salsa actually had some kick to it. But the queso kind of sucked. Our server, while friendly, was a bit of a space case. Friend #3 ordered the Vegetarian Combo but got something completely different. She sent it back and eventually got her correct order, and our server ~graciously~ "comped the other one." Uhhhh you mean the one she didn't order?? As we finished up, we saw a party get seated nearby only to be approached by a different employee a couple of minutes later and told that they'd been seated at the wrong table. They had to pick up their drinks and appetizer and follow dude to whatever table was meant for them. Not cool. Eh, I wouldn't be opposed to giving the place another shot. I've been here a few times, and have been overall satisfied, but wouldn't ever eat here if I didn't shop at nearby Perimeter Mall. SETTING: The decor is similar to most texmex places across America, but they have a bit of an art-retro theme that's actually pretty well executed. The booths are upholstered to make you feel like you're in a 50s diner, one room has hub caps covering the ceiling, and the walls are busy with modern renderings of historic paintings. Pretty cool as far as family dining restaurants go. SERVICE: It's kind of whatever. Usually not that fast and can be unprofessional at times, depending on who you get. The inconsistency is more than likely an artifact of poor training. FOOD: Standard Texmex, but pretty good. Salsa at the beginning is more on the pico de gallo side, with a good bit of spice. The enchilada sauce is pretty good too. I would say it's high side of average, but nothing awe inspiring. read more

We had the best experience at this Chuys! Pamela was our waitress and we had told her we loved Chuys but don't get to visit often since we moved away and absolutely love the creamy jalepeno salsa. She took note of that and gave us complimentary chips and salsa to send us home with which was so sweet! The hostess was personable and incredible as well. Tex Mex can be so much better than this.... Here's the good and bad: Good - Free chips & salsa. Chips are nice and thin and crispy. Salsa was actually alright, and the creamy jalapeno is pretty darn good (tastes a little like ranch dressing with a little bit of jalapenos thrown in it). Food portions were pretty darn big. And we had a great waitress that made sure the chips were always refilled and drinks were always coming. Not so good - We ordered fajitas, and these should come out SIZZLING hot and smelling amazing. Instead, it came out lukewarm. The homemade flour tortillas that I normally LOVE were only so-so --- not warm (aka not freshly made), and not entirely cooked through. Chile con queso wasn't particularly good either. For the Chuy's brand name (hailing from Austin, TX), I expected GREAT Tex-Mex, and at the very least, I was hoping for the addicting homemade flour tortillas that I get in Austin. Unfortunately, this Chuy's just didn't make the mark. read more

Fajitas for two is excellent. Both the steak and chicken are seasoned and cooked to perfection. They don't give you quite enough grilled onions and peppers, but the quality of the meat makes up for that shortcoming. Hatch green chili and creamy jalapeno sauces are awesome on the fajitas. read more

There are so many other choices in the area, so we haven't been here in a while. Like any review of a Mexican place, you've got to start with the chips and salsa. Which were AMAZING. The chips were a very thin light style (which admittedly makes it harder to scoop up the salsa) that made you think you were eating a lot less than you actually were. SCORE! The salsa looks completely meh, like they just threw a bunch of tomatoes in a food processor and served them, but it's not. It's delicious. Our waiter was a little too much like Brian from "Office Space" but he was efficient and got his job done well. He practically rammed his opinions down our throat, but admittedly, everything he said was true, so no complaints. I got the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom, because "Brian" told me to, and it was delish. Well let's see technology clearly doesn't help when the following happens you watch one person in the back dish out sauce and lick his fingers clean and then proceed to handle food , you have a manager who can't explain how the order of the ladies in front of me went missing yet they have an email stating it was ordered , and now for me ordered on line at 545 for 620 pick up made the mistake of paying ahead of time ( now I'm trapped ). And here I sit 645 and no sign of my food . I have never seen an more unorganized to go area and it's jot like I ordered a lot of food or any special instructions . So I will continue to wait 30 minutes now while hungry people wonder if I have been kidnapped for what I can only assume will be my cold Mexican read more

My family loves the food here. It is always our choice for birthday dinners. During COVID masks must be worn by all staff, cooks, takeout desks, wait staff, and the managers. Yesterday, I picked up a takeout order. Two staff members had masks under their noses until the were around customers. That's just not okay. This would be a give start for the food otherwise. I was really disappointed with this place. This may be me, but my biggest pet peeve is when a restaurant is more concerned with the comfort of the staff than the guest. It was cold outside, but the temperature inside should not match that of the outside! It is very uncomfortable trying to eat your dinner with a winter jacket on because they are too cheap to turn on the heat. It was not only our table, but each of the four other tables had jackets and scarves still on while eating. Pay attention. Besides our unepected visit to Antartica, the food was very disappointing. We had ordered the queso, and it was burnt. You could actually see the burnt queso floating at the top of the dip. Each dish was flavorless. The sauce described as spicy by our server was left off two dishes. We did not request to have sauce left off; she just said people thought they were too spicy. Annoying. I've been to chuys several times because my mother enjoys the food, and she usually likes to come here when we're in the area. I've noticed on several occasions, the hostess were unorganized, and were confused on where to seat us. Several times my servers would take long to get us our chips or take down our orders/ take our payment. My mom and I have sent back food because it came out to us cold, I've witnessed managers yell that hostesses in the front of the restaurant and seemed like she was about to cry. My most recent visit there was on a busier night and there was quite a show. One young lady (I'm not sure if she worked there) was screaming on the wall phone by where they sell the t-shirts swearing out whoever she was speaking to while a manager stood idly by letting her go on with her crazy fit instead of trying to remove her or calm her down! I thought chuys was a family establishment, the food is decent, but the staff and management team strongly seems like they need to improve! (2 stars for the food, 1 star for the service) read more

The burrito was obviously microwaved and was more bean than the ground sirloin it was touted to be. If it was ground sirloin, it was so mushed you couldn't tell. Mgr. Justin, knows how to turn an unhappy customer into a repeat customer. On my lunch hour we were seated outside with one other table. We sat for about 10 minutes without a greeting, water, chips/salsa. Then was told that our initial waiter did not want to assist us. The waiter who stepped in was fairly new and made a mistake on the order and since I had allergies I needed to send it back. Although I was not pleased of my experience the manager made sure we would return by taking care of our meals and correcting my initial order. Chuy's gets points for originality - the menu is different than that of any other Mexican restaurant I've been to. However, everything I've gotten there is just okay. I want to like the food, but I haven't found a dish there yet that's worth going back for. Also, the service is consistently weak. On top of that, the place is very popular, so expect a wait if you're looking to eat there during a typical dinner time. I haven't completely given up on Chuy's yet, but my patience is wearing thin. read more

As an Austin, Tx native, I am all about Chuy's (I'm nostalgic and food just tastes better if it feels like home)! Needless to say I was highly disappointed with this location: the service was mediocre at best and my order was wrong and our server made no attempt to correct the issue (besides taking it off of our bill) If I had eaten anything besides chips I might be able to speak to the quality of the food, although my boyfriend mentioned he enjoyed his tacos. Been here a couple of times now and I really like it. I think this has to do with how absolutely kitschy it is. I love their drinks! I usually get whatever is a special at the time. Last time we had just missed out on happy hour but our server gave us the price anyway, which was really cool! That would also be the current drink, a passionfruit sangria. It's a frozen drink, and usually I am not a fan of them, but I really liked this. Their green chile related items are awesome right now. I think it's almost over if not so that's sad. The beef flautas I had from the green chile menu were awesome. I could have kept eating more plates of them. The enchiladas are great too. My favorite is the Southwestern. I'm not even a fan of fried eggs and I love this dish. You really can't go wrong here, just as long as you realize it's Tex-Mex food. Never had a problem with service other than it took asking for silverware to get it one time. Our food has always come out super fast. Try sitting in the bar area, it's a lot less overwhelming than the regular dining area. There are plenty of tables there too, not just a bar, plus it has plenty of windows so it's bright. read more
