Came here based on the high reviews and the pictures on yelp. Waited in a line for about 30 minutes finally went to order and wanted to sub cream cheese for an egg or cheese on the "Bistro bagel" the cashier didn't know if the chef could do that for some reason so she had to ask the chef and one other person. After a couple minutes of back and forth the chef said it would have to be an extra charge rather than just subbing the cream cheese for an egg or regular cheese. So we paid 12$ for a bagel with one fried egg, tomato, and cucumber. On top of the 30 minutes we waited in line just to order, we waited another 30 minutes for our food to come out. One of the workers came out and said they were out of an everything bagel which the bistro bagel comes with so I had to get a plain bagel. Once the food came out they forgot the egg... after that WHOLE ordeal and paying extra they forget the egg!!! So annoying. Also they forgot to bring us utensils so had to ask her when she took it back to grab me an egg. The bagel was super plain with no flavor. Service was not great and chef seemed rude. My boyfriend ordered a breakfast crossaint which he was happy with. But he got a side of breakfast potatoes for $5 which literally had no flavor or seasoning. We are disappointed and this place is definitely overpriced. read more

Frankly we were underwhelmed here. Service was sub par, limited menu esp for diabetics, the only brewed coffee they had was french roast and had a hard time accepting cash (?). We're from Nado and still own property here so we visit Nado regularly, but will avoid this place. However, Clayton's restaurant on 10th street is excellent and we highly recommend it as well as there donuts and burrito shop around the corner. read more

I waited outside for about 20 minutes. There was no one calling in customers but there was a sign that said one party at a time. Once it was my turn, I didn't see anyone at the counter so I walked in. I waited to be greeted and my order taken and the first thing the guy said was, "We have a line." I said "yes and I was next." I'm traveling into this area and didn't expect to be greeted that way. They didn't even ask me if I was next. The full kitchen was closed. So I picked out several pastries and had a cup of coffee. The food is great, just didn't expect to be talked to that way. First impressions are important. read more

My husband and I came for a wedding at hotel del a couple weeks ago. While out walking we found this little gem! Adorable decor. The lemon macarons were incredible! It was a great place to eat breakfast, especially in coronado! Definitely worth the trip if you're visiting from out of town. The 50's feel to the diner make for a sentimental experience. Stopped for lunch today and food was wonderful! Fresh garden salad and spinach veggie wrap which was filled with veggies and a little cheese! Delicious!! Iced coffee was very good. Service friendly and fast. Really nice place. We will return again!!! read more

This place is great for breakfast. We had the Dutch Baby pancake and it was delicious. It's served in a skillet so it stays warm. Go with the lemon topping and fresh berries for the ultimate experience. The side of bacon was crispy and complemented the dish. Since I just stopped in to buy pastries to take home I can only critique that experience. The items I bought were delicious, but the behind the counter staff definitely needs more training. The person taking my order didn't know the price of one of the items and it took her awhile to find out. The packaging should have been done more carefully as one item was a shortbread cookie with a meringue dome which was put in a bag and it should have been put in a box. I paid with a credit card and it took several minutes for the server to figure out how to print a receipt. I did notice tiny insects flying under the glass dome of one of the pastry stands so they need to be more careful about seating it in the rim of the plate so bugs can't get in. These are all issues that can be remedied. Otherwise, the decor is done very well and the quality of the items I bought was excellent. read more

I'm SO excited to have a wonderful bistro! Everything I've had to this point has been fabulous. A few days ago for breakfast; one of the best lattes I've had, and loved the blueberry scone, it was soft inside a crunchy outside. My frittata was cooked perfect and had great flavor. They were busy and still working out some kinks. But remember, July is the busiest month on the island!! Everything else will be simple. Today for lunch I had a light vegetarian wrap and potato chips (I didn't plan on eating but couldn't stop) The family split the zucchini apricot muffins-wow!! We all agreed it was a perfect 10. Hubby and I ventured out of IB to visit. Super quaint breakfast spot. HUGE portions and very delicious. I got the croquet madame and hubs got their brekkie sammy on a croissant and the beignets with the lemon curd. So good. The acai bowl looked bomb and I'll have to try next time. We both had a ton of leftovers. We'll be back for sure. Only 4 star because they don't have servers to take your order. You have to walk up and keep going back for coffee refills and boxes, etc. But still, we'll return. read more

Absolutely the cutest atmosphere!! We got an everything croissant, everything bagel, and our little got a Nutella, PB, banana crepe. Goodness. Everything was DELICIOUS. The croissant was toasted perfectly with a side of butter..flaky and just yum! The freshly made bagel that was made in house was yum! And the crepe was great! My husband and I shared the French press for two. All in all, great local spot to grab coffee and baked goodies. I saw on the menu that they had other foods too (sandwiches, salads). Waiting in line on the sidewalk wasn't ideal but the food and coffee were more than worth it. Every single thing we had was delicious so we came here 3 times on our vacation. Good and bad. Since it opened a couple of years ago, one of our favorite spots to eat breakfast, high quality food and bakery items and coffee drinks. The last couple of months have been really sloowwww service. Very frustrating. A line of people waiting outside and not a good process for serving. 4 of the last 5 times a good 15 minute wait for 3-4 people in line as they prep the coffees and food before they take care of the next person. I don't know where to start with this restaurant. Everything about them is exquisite. I held a farewell wedding breakfast there on Sunday, and my guests are still raving about the food, the presentation, and the kindness of the servers. We were a large group, and we were seated on the front patio (which is beautiful). It has an expansive feel with flowers lining the edges. I could not have asked for anything else. The food was timed perfectly, tasted fresh and delicious, the tables looked gorgeous with the chinaware and the food displays, and the staff was so relaxed and easy going. They augmented the celebration with their beautiful presence. The restaurant also offers gluten-free options which is fantastic. My guests had different dietary requirements/requests, and the restaurant was able to handle all of them with ease. Finally, the owners. I had a chance to meet Chelsea who seemed very kind, and I worked with Mary. From the moment I began texting Mary to prepare for this event, I started growing excited about holding the event here. She was enthusiastic, open to ideas, and willing to compromise on a request I made. She is an absolute delight. Additionally, when I was leaving I mentioned that I would prefer food doesn't get wasted. A perfect breakfast was concluded with her telling me that they donate the food to the SEALs, and they also have a relationship with shelters over the bridge where they can share food. The passion, heart, love, and beauty of this restaurant is rare. Absolute gem in Coronado. I cannot wait to go back. read more

I think the food served here is decent, it's good if you have time to sit down for at least a good two hours though because it's ridiculously overpacked every day. I'm just here to talk about just a weird incident that happened two days. I had asked for the grilled cheese, but to replace the cheese on it with cheddar. I think this is reasonable, the cheese they use for it is quite smelly and I have a sensitive stomach so I wanted something a bit simpler, but the waitress had told me that wasn't possible. I knew it was since this is how I always order it but she told me it wasn't possible because it defeats the purpose of the grilled cheese. Huh...? It's cheese in between bread. For almost $20. I promise you there's no grilled cheese oath you need to protect to make sure the integrity of the sandwich remains. It's like she was trying to convince me not to get it saying things like she didn't want me to pay that much for a grilled cheese like that which sounds nice but I'm already here for the almost $20 grilled cheese. I'm committed. Anyways, I just didn't get it because I'm sure the waitress would've refused to take my order (joking). I ended up ordering the peanut butter nutella crepe which also sucked. Lukewarm, way too thick, and also weirdly hard. I was having trouble cutting it with the knife and chewing it felt like biting on a piece of old leather. A bit disappointing, considering the total of the meal with my boyfriend ended up being almost $60. I honestly think that's way too much for two people going for lunch. read more

Unfortunately it seemed like most of the staff was brand new as everything we ordered came with lots of confusion and questions. We ate breakfast here twice. Both times were great. They have gluten free bread that they use for their breakfast sandwiches which were great. Their regular bagels were good and pastries were good. Extremely slow. So slow that they transitioned from the breakfast menu to the lunch menu between the time we got seated to the time our waitress came to take our order.
