This place has good reviews. Four stars, many profiles of which have only 1-5 total reviews, which I find suspect. I didn't call this into question until I realized how subpar it was when we came in at noon on a Sunday for lunch. Which begs the question how this could be? My estimate is that either people have low expectations or that we simply came in at the wrong part of the day, because: 1. They had a full menu that is only for the night patrons. The day one is pretty limited in selection and limited to only rice, with your choice of 3 proteins from a list. 2. Service is lacking during the day because they only had 1 waiter. With only 2-3 other tables, when our party of 14 came in they couldn't handle the order. The waiter only brought out drinks and dishes after taking everyone's order and left them at the head of the table to have us figure out who ordered what. When they brought out small bowls of soup and fish sauce to our table they gave us less than 14 even though there's 14 of us. It's not rocket science. You need to bring the same number of stuff as how many are to the table. 3. One of the people at our table had to get up and get silverware to bring back to all of us because it was too much for the waiter to handle our order. 4. My coffee came out 75% full. I don't think it's that hard to at least fill up the cup, especially when it's full of ice. Which makes it pretty much a 5 sip $6 drink. Wouldn't recommend this place. read more

You can even bring white people here because the menu is so easy to read and has descriptions with familiar words that won't make them ask "what's this, what's that?" The fish sauce is unlimited, which is a nice touch, but it was way too salty and lacked that perfect sweet, tangy balance that makes a good nước mắm. It really overpowered the dish, and honestly, it kind of ruined the whole meal. The pork, vermicelli, and veggies were all just "okay"--nothing special. I wanted to like this place, but the fish sauce issue was a dealbreaker for me. I'm not sure if it was a one-time thing, but if they can't get the fish sauce right, it's hard to enjoy a Vietnamese meal. This place is new in town and they seemed unprepared for the influx of customers, which was understandable. They had 2 servers in the front and cater to the whole place. Just want to add that food will take forever to come out though. One tip is that you don't need to wait for waiters, you will need to sit at one of the tables and they will come to take your orders. We ordered pork chop suong, pork shredded skin, chao tom, and bi cha trung. They seasoned the pork chop perfectly and other items are not as good. Chao tom was kind of dry and cha trung did not have enough vermicelli and ear mushrooms, the texture was just soft. Their fish sauce tasted ok.. it was a bit too salty. read more

I came in to place the order to go. It's warm and dark inside because looks like this place is designed for running bar/pub at night. They don't take credit/debit card. They only accept cash/zelle/venmo. I asked the worker why. He said because of the high taxes rate, which I have no idea how high it is, is very inconvenient for customers. Then I proceeded the payment in cash, but I did not receive my receipt. Three com tam and a sunny side egg for $44,20. Regardless of the weird experience, I still tip them $10 at the end. He had confirmed my order with a side dish sunny sides egg, so I assumed they charged me for what I asked since I have no receipt with me. Unfortunately, I don't have the egg. It's small egg, not an entire dish, but it is very unpleasant. I will find another business for com tam next time. read more
