This place is such a hidden San Diego gem. I love cinnamon rolls, and the brioche cinnamon roll did not disappoint! The cinnamon roll is light and not too sweet and when you dine in they warm it up for you. The service is wonderful they bring your food out to your table. Clearly ordered incorrectly. The bread itself tasted good but the lack of cheese on the grilled cheese made it ridiculously notworth the price. The whole breads and pastries look amazing and would definitely be open to trying those on the next visit but will never order this again. Even the turkey sandwich was lackluster with only two slices of turkey. The turkey itself was good quality, but you could get a more satisfying sandwich at Sprouts. This review is not reflective of the fresh bread or the younger staff members who have been more delightful than I expected. however towards a manager. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to confront this woman about her attitude directly but when she was assisting me with a transaction I noticed how intense and condescending she not only was toward me, a paying customer but to the other staff IN FRONT of me to the point that it made me uncomfortable and honestly a little bit sad. Soon to find out she is a "manager". I asked for her name, "Rosa", and honestly, I have a lot of empathy for workers in the service industry and hate to leave a bad review for a place that has otherwise been a recent favorite of mine, but this service needs to be addressed. Against my better judgment, I agreed to go to Con Pane with my kids. The staff made the same mistakes as usual, such as putting mayo when we specifically asked for NO MAYO. But my biggest complaint is regarding mold on their pastries. My son ordered the berry danish to-go, so we didn't notice anything wrong until we got home. He opened the pastry box and asked me to look at his berry danish because "it looked weird!" There's no way that you could miss all this mold when serving this pastry. This place has so many positive reviews for a reason. Even though I live 25 mins away, I make the drive every 2 weeks to refill on Sourdough, which is a staple in our household. I've been coming here for years but wanted to write this review to specifically shoutout Tyler for his exceptional customer service. I had some unforeseen circumstances come up and wasn't able to pickup my order anymore. I called Con Pane and someone picked up right away (a huge plus in this age of robots). We had a sad event occur and this was the location picked to because it was the place a special person was very fond of. Delicious breads and treats! The avocado toast is fluffy with foccacia under it. The cinnamon rolls are to die for. It's a nice place to grab breakfast or a sandwich for lunch. You can sit outside if you want, parking is always a pain so just have patience driving around to find a lot or a street spot. There's a wait with a line usually, but they get stuff out quickly. It can get loud in there too. Only thing is the employees seem super unhappy/zombie like at the register, not really friendly, and there's an extra 5% surcharge added to each bill. Came here after a walk from the airport (because Ubers are significantly more expensive from the airport than if you can walk even a little ways way) and thought I'd grab a bite before getting a ride home. For a weekday afternoon it was super busy, and I can see why. I had a foccacia heated and while it was a little pricier than I would've expected for just a foccacia (I can't remember but I think almost $10) , it was perfectly chewy and warm and fresh. Con Pane always surprises me with how good it is each time I pop in. The hubby and I stopped by on a weekday morning and it was bustling but we found a spot in the sun. They have their seasonal items right now which is focaccia with Brie and cranberry which looks fantastic. Had I been solo, I would've ordered it. We shared a cinnamon roll which was warm, gooey and so delicious. The frosting wasn't too thick, it was very smooth and not overly sweet. Cinnamon rolls are my weakness and this was a 10 out of 10 in my book. The focaccia was the size of a round personal pizza topped with ricotta, cherry tomatoes, sautéed shallots and pesto which cut through the richness of the cheese. The focaccia was chewy, soft and perfectly baked. The toppings went so well together and had a nice savory taste with a hint of salt to balance it all out. At first it felt like something was off in the recipes but now I would say it's on point. I love how you can order online. The sandwiches are delicious, specifically the turkey cobb. The breads are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and wonderfully flavored. My favorite are their pastries. It's just unfortunate the seasonal items end up being my favorites. I enjoy dining in when work isn't so hectic because the staff are friendly, the patio and indoor dining areas are spacious, and I enjoy their hot drinks during our winter days. There were a handful on times when I would take my boxed lunch out on the lawn at Liberty Station and enjoy a nice day! I really, really, really wished the employee had asked if I wanted my bread toasted. It was flapping around while I was eating, and though I appreciated how soft and fresh the bread was, I still felt sad it wasn't toasted and a little crusty and crunchy. This is a buzzing bakery cafe with a wide variety of artisan breads, sandwiches, caffeinated beverages and baked goods. There is almost always a line but two cashiers take care of the customers ordering from the entire menu and one cashier assists bread purchasers only, moving through the guests pretty quickly. My cashier made recommendations as I had trouble deciding between two espresso-based items. The seasonal rose latte was delicious but a tad too sweet for my liking, masking the espresso flavor. The single slice of the raisin-hazelnut bread was scrumptious with a slathering of salted butter. My only regret was not ordering an additional slice of another flavor to try! The crumb was tender and the crust was not unreasonably hard. Other reviewers have noted that their pastries are not as excellent and I would have to agree that the brioche dough on the hazelnut twist was a bit dry and lacked the pillowy texture I've come to expect from brioche. Picked up a sourdough baguette for the road and was pleased to see that there were a variety of flavors to choose from. Another customer hugged 6 baguettes of her choosing, paying for them and then walked out happily. I was envious! Haha. Service is prompt, tables are bussed pretty quickly considering the dining room was almost full with patrons like professors and tutors meeting with students and friends meeting for lunch. Food is great definitely recommend the veggie cob. Its a great size and its always fresh. Bread and cookies are always great as well. The only downside is if you order from doordash half of the time the order comes in wrong. For example it's been twice now where ive gotten a regular Cobb sandwhich with meat when I ordered a veggie cob since I dont eat meat. It is disappointing to take off the meat and have more than half of your sandwhich gone. I've also had coworkers order through other delivery sites and same thing either things are missing or order is wrong. It's great food but I do recommend going in and ordering there and checking your food before you leave or eating in. read more

And the sourdough bread was great. We got the roast beef sandwich on Kalamata olive bread and it was insaneeee. The flavor from the bread was so clear and it had the best texture. I live in Liberty and love to walk here! TONS of seating and great place to either people watch or work on things. Lots of parking and while the line is usually long, the servers are quick to assist!
