I think this might be my favorite place in NYC, I truly can't wait to come back and visit. I would never miss the opportunity to dine and be entertained here. Manager Tommy is such a treasure, and it really seems that his staff adores him. He sings beautifully and will serenade the patrons, always walking around and really getting to know everyone. Went to this restaurant 4 months ago and I'm still thinking about it. Some of the best pasta I've ever had. Beautifully decorated and had live music. Gorgeous women's bathroom too, weirdly enough. The restaurant welcomed us in last minute after a late broadway show. Very appealing to the eye as soon as you walk in. Out appetizers were delicious and the two main courses of chicken marsala and chicken franchese were huge portions cook to perfection. Dinner was topped off with dessert and coffee. Very confused as to why this place has such good ratings... I rarely give bad reviews but this experience was super weird and one of our group members got sick from her food... Here's what was wrong: 1. Very weird ambiance and the people working were extremely rude and dysfunctional. We had like 5 different people wait on our table and no one was in sync. They were trying to push us to order wine after they didn't have the one we wanted and were weird toward us after we did not order any. 2. It smelled weird and seemed dirty. The bathroom was super hot and had weird storage in it and the restaurant did not seem clean. We walked in and thought it was kind of suspect, turns out it wasn't the cleanest, as someone got sick from the carbonara. 3. The wait staff were all fighting, very audibly, it was super unprofessional and uncomfortable. They should have taken their business elsewhere, not in the small curtained area where everyone dining there can hear. 4. The food was good but a few of us ordered cautiously since we were in fear of the cleanliness of the restaurant. Overall, I do not recommend. I'm sure this place has been good in the past, and maybe it was a bad night for them... but I seriously do not advise you go here. read more

I had a very disappointing experience there with our server. The food was fine. It took a while and he got one of our two order wrong. The part that left me pretty angry was the server rudely embarrassed my 18 yo niece that was visiting and paying as a thank you her visit to NYC. The bill was only $85 and she put a $100 bill down. He asked if she wanted change and she said yes. He came back with the whole $100 broken down and slapped on table. That's when I realized she thought too was included. He didn't have to do that. I would have figured it out if he just gave her correct change. She was embarrassed. I regret telling her to leave the $15. While the food was good it wasn't exceptional, took a while and he got one of two simple orders wrong. Totally unnecessary and why NYC and Times Square get a bad name. read more

This is right near Eugene theater which is nice if you are seeing a show, the restaurant made sure we had plenty of time to make the show and the waiter even asked us if we were seeing it! The place was very cute and the live music was a nice touch! I would recommend making reservations though because it's a small space. Everything was tasty and fresh and came out super fast! I got the chocolate fettuccine but you can't taste the chocolate which I liked, it was more expensive ($42) than I thought but I should've asked the price and it is nyc. read more

If your expectation is an overpriced and touristy spot in the Theater District, you will probably be pleasantly surprised by a visit to Da Marino. A party of 6 - my girlfriend, my 2 sons and their signification others, we arrived with a 5:30 reservation preceeding a 7:30 show at the Winter Garden (about 500 feet away). Staff informed us that it would be a close thing, so they seated the two of us right away to get things going. The pasta dishes were very good -- the chicken parmesean, chicken marsala and sauce on the mussels was a little on the salty side, but still tasty. Carbonara could have used a bit more pancetta (and is typically better with guanciale), but it was still pretty darned good. Overall, good quality food, but the star of the show was honestly the NY strip - cooked and seasoned perfectly. Service was prompt and excellent - we finished our meal by 6:45 and had plenty of time to get to the show! Price was competitive for the area - pasta dishes in the mid $20 range and appropriately portioned - the chicken dishes in the mid $30 range were on the smaller side, but when paired with the side pasta were adequate. Would certainly return here in the future. read more

My beautiful wife and I went for dinner after we went to see "book of Mormon". Not disappointed at all. It's a cute little place a couple doors down from the show. I had lobster ravioli and she had chicken parmigiana. Very big portions very delicious. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. As well as the rest of the staff. There was a pianist and the maître d' also sung a little. I would definitely recommend this place for dinner after a show. But come hungry. Lots to choose from and big portions. read more

Tucked away close to the Broadway theatres, I had a delicious meal at Da Marino with my husband and inlaws. My lobster ravioli was outstanding and my three companions were equally pleased with their dishes, particularly the chocolate fettucini, which was scrumptious. The penne saprite (with shrimp and crunchy asparagus) and rigatoni buttera are also to be recommended. Photos of actors from Broadway shows line the walls and the ambiance is cosy with a good jazz pianist entertaining everyone. I will go back! read more

We scheduled a reservation via OpenTable a day in advance to go to a Broadway show two hours later. When we arrived, the guy at the front told us that they couldn't accommodate us and told us we "wouldn't have made the show anyway." He couldn't have been more annoying. First, he took forever to tell us he couldn't accommodate us. I had to cut him off and ask him bluntly, so can you seat us or not?? He then said no. Second, how did he even know when our showtime was? Two thumbs down. Don't book as the dinner place before your show. Even OpenTable isn't honored. read more

This was a serious Italian experience. Wine by the bottle was reasonable and the food was impeccable. I had the cheese ravioli with mushrooms and asparagus. So perfect! Sadly my phone died so no photos. I highly recommend Da Marino as an after theater stop, not just a before the show staple. We ate big before the show. Rather than fight the crowd and rush to go now where, we went down the steps to an Italian oasis. We were stuffed and had no intention on anything other than a light dessert but the smells and sights of the food drove me and my daughter Jackie out of our minds. She has a cooler head and so I deferred to her selection of the mussels appetizer. It was excellent and perfect. (I'm still dreaming of the spaghetti!) The owner/manager was extremely friendly. He spent just enough time with us as we entered and introduced us to the entire staff that served us. The bartender was very nice and generous with her pour of wine. The waiter and entire wait staff was excellent. The piano singer was amazing, simply amazing. He sang songs ranging from Bobby Darrin to Sam Cooke to Dean Martin to Ed Sheeran to Roy Orbison and on and on. The atmosphere was perfect. read more

First, I don't think they have a website because when I click on it you get nothing. Second, I am only Rating my experience there and not the food, because I left. It's in the cellar near the theater district. The bar was full of load and very obnoxious people. I am not holding that against the restaurant, but it caused me to just leave and not put up with the noise. I asked for a martini and the first two vodka choices of mine they didn't have. Strange, as they are pretty popular brands. I asked the bar tender what was his favorites in the menu and he was honest and said he didn't know because he was new. This restaurant had a good menu and was selected because the location was minutes away from the show that we were seeing. Made a reservation for 6:00pm, arrived at 5:55pm, but was not seated until after 6:30pm. The place is intimate (small), with little to no room for waiting. The host had a lot of energy and seemed to love his job. The waiters seemed overwhelmed (perhaps they were either understaffed, had the pressure of getting people served quickly so that they could get to the theatre or both). As soon as we were seated, I asked if we would have enough time to eat and get to the theatre on time. He asked what time we wanted to leave by, I told him 7:30pm, and he said "ok." We immediately ordered, and I was about to cancel our order when the food hadn't come out at 7:10pm. But somehow, he was able to get us out by 7:30pm. Complimentary bread was brought to the table. I had capellini (angel hair) all' ortolana and added capers. It was a nice dish. Someone else in my party had the lamb chops and enjoyed them. If you are planning to see a show (especially on the weekend), don't roll the dice, make a reservation around 5:00pm or 5:30pm. I will consider dining at Da Marino again when I won't have any time restraints. read more

The staff is very aware they are servicing the theater crowd & on the night we were there, the manager mentioned they offer all their patrons to hold any leftovers for them until their show is over in order to properly refrigerate their meals. Basically an average Italian restaurant. Nothing stands out. Place is somewhat cramped. Service is quick but we got our main entrees before our appetizer ( which turned out to be $32 for two burrata). Food was just ok. If you are looking for something special, keep looking. I've been here many times and the food has always been wonderful. Last couple of times I ordered the chicken franchise, and it was extremely lemony to the point of inedible. This is one of my favorite dishes to get at many Italian restaurants. This might be just the way they're making it now so I will not order that again there. Yes, I would still recommend. We visited Da Marino during the 2021 holiday season and it was fantastic from start to finish. We had a recommendation from a friend and ended up booking a reservation the same night. We were politely greeted by Tom, the manager, and he checked our vaccine cards and showed us to our table quickly even with our late reservations. John, our waiter, and the other waitstaff were also extremely friendly, quick to respond, and knowledgeable about the menu. My fiancée and I ended up ordering some wine and Bruschetta al Pomodoro (Tomato Bruschetta) to start. They provided complimentary bread which was still warm and was fantastic with the provided side dish. My fiancée ended up ordering the carbonara which she thought was delicious and had plenty of pancetta, was creamy, but not too heavy at all. I had the Lobster ravioli with shrimp which was also very good. For dessert, we had the homemade Tiramisu and it was so good we ended up finishing it all. The ambiance was amazing, a live pianist arrived at 6PM and was playing Christmas music. Even Tom got on the microphone and received applause for his amazing performance of "My Way" by Frank Sinatra. This Italian Restaurant was recommended by our Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendant Cameron. He said that it's a wonderful tucked away place right there just a few blocks from Times Square. Oh boy, it was a gem. Okay it's a small entrance and if you're not careful you may miss it. Tucked away done a short flight of the stairs entering is like going back into time. With a long bar near the front, an accomplished pianist at the piano and seating just beyond. Right away we were treated like family. A nearby diner joined the pianist Marcie for a wonderful rendition of Billy Joel's New York State of Mind, and continued to play throughout dinner. Another pair of diners also one from Hawaii chatted a bit with us. Ok, the food and drink were excellent, my daughter had the Lobster Ravioli, my wife the Salmon Rigatoni and I went for the Lasagna. We started with a waiter recommended Pear salad which really set the stage for the rest of the meal. I truly want to thank the owner as well as the staff for the wonderful evening. I also want to recommend that if you're ever want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square that you consider visiting for drinks and dinner. You won't be disappointed! Da Marino is a Time Square Italian restaurant staple. The food is nice and fresh and the bread with lentils is a nice complimentary starter. The wine pours and glasses are Texas size, something you don't find in the city. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Every time I come here I love it more. The perfect little traditional Italian spot, with the added touch of a live pianist to finish off the cozy, inviting ambiance. They also decorate for the holidays/seasons. The entire staff is incredible, service is fast and helpful. It can get busy but they are very accommodating and sitting at the bar does not detract from the experience so I recommend doing that if it gets you seated faster! Their vodka sauce is the best, I replaced the penne with rigatoni last time and cannot recommend that enough, so good. My boyfriend loved the ravioli and also loves the lasagna. All in all, this is one of my favorite restaurants, ever. read more
