Just WOW!! This place had the most delicious food. It has been a while since I had some authentic Hispanic food. This was finger licking good. I had the red chilaquillas and everything tasted well balanced, on point seasoning, and just overall delicious. My brother had the carne asada and that was also seasoned well. The beans were not salty at all (some places the beans are salty). You think there is no seating but they have seating in the back, which is the only way to get there is through the kitchen. Probably one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. The carne asada plate came with rice, beans, a side salad and tortillas hechas a mano. Excellent quality meat! Oh man, where to start, it's my first time here and I had the Caldo de res soup. I guarantee you, it will be the best one you've ever had. The meat was very tender the veggies were fresh and the broth was delicious. It was served with homemade rice and hand made tortillas. Walked into this place based solely on the 5 star review the page had. I wasn't disappointed! Me and my wife both ordered the chilaquiles (red and green) both were delicious. They bring you complimentary toastadas with beans, pico, and red salsa on the side. So you can make your own. The server was very friendly and took care of us and even made us a fresh pot of coffee. The front entrance has a small dining area but they have a large outdoor sitting area in the back . The service was wonderful. Ok. So this is a review over four separate occassions, three of which were at the height of Covid. I am extremely picky and a bonafied food snob. Check my reviews. Not food pretentious, but a food snob. If its good, and the restaurant atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing, I am a fan. If its expensive, full of itself and the food is good, but I'm not confortable, I still won't be happy. At this small little unassuming neighborhood spot the food is *amazaing*, repeat *amazing* and its EXACTLY the kind of family-run small business restaurant that you should be patronizing during this awful crisis. First, the food. I've only had the Carne Asada plate, every time, but this is no ordinary plate. The meat is first rate, not inferior strip steak, but good quality Carne that is grilled with expert perfection by a first-gen Mexican American woman who usually works solo with her two teenage daughters manning the counter and tables. The juices that marinate the beef are secculent and full of flavor, you'll find yourself dipping the Carne into them as you eat, and the rice and re-friend beans are the perfect compliment to the beef extravaganza that you're indulging in. Not to mention, the entree comes with fresh sliced avocado and pico de gallo (also made fresh) and for a moment you're transported to a small alley in Mexico CIty or Cancun enjoying the type of feted local fare that made Tony Bourdain famous. This is it. Does not get any better in California, and that's a strong statement because there is a LOT of good Mexican food in L.A.. The Mother/Daughters team that runs the spot are nice, friendly, generous (huge refills and free extras such as sour cream) and did not get all weirded out when I sat down to eat at the restaurant by myself while Covid restrictions were still going on. All in all, a CLASS act all the way around and highly recommended. Go there, order the Asada, and feel like you're in Mexico for an hour during lunch. They offer all sorts of ice cold Mexican beers too, so that might help the experience too if you drink. This is exactly the type of small family run business that was hit hardest by Covid and that we need to collectively patronize to help bring the economy back. Tell them I sent you. Enjoy. read more
