Our friends weren't bluffing when they said these were the best fish and chips in Juneau. We couldn't decide between the halibut tacos and fish and chips, so we ended up getting them both. The service with fast and everything we got was delicious. Our cousin's wife normally doesn't like fish, but she tried the fish and chips and said it was very good. The covered outdoor seating area by the fire pit was a nice touch and kept us warm and dry from the rain. We would definitely come back again! Yum!!!! read more

Surprisingly mediocre. I ordered the fish and chips with a halibut cake. The fried fish was extremely oily. Literally a puddle of oil in the bottom of the plate. The fish tasted okay but it did not taste great. The chips are those breaded style french fries, also very oily but not especially tasty. The halibut cake was a complete disappointment. Very mushy and not especially flavorful. Based on the other reviews, I was truly disappointed. Maybe my meal was an anomaly. Service was very good. Staff are ultra nice and friendly. Dining area is outdoors and very kicked back. I really love the dining area. read more

This fish n chips place was excellent! Some of the BEST I've had. My husband and I shared the variety, which included 2 medium-sized pieces each of salmon, halibut and rockfish (plenty for us). All 3 types were fresh and very tasty. The chips were very good, too, and were lightly seasoned and was a good complement. We are on an Alaskan cruise and are making it a point of try fish n chips at each of our stops, in search of the best. So far this place is a 5, and a winner! Walked in the rain for 15 minutes to get some grub from Deckhand Dave's and it was worth every drop! Ordered Fish Tacos and also Fish & Chips and both were delicious. The beer batter was crispy and not oily at all and the tacos were saucy with just the right amount of spice! I can certainly see why they are award-winning. If I ever find my way back in Juneau I will be sure to hit up this joint again! I loved it so much I even bought a T-shirt. Oh, and despite the rain, there is a huge tent to keep you nice and dry with lots of seating available. Was packed by the time we finished up. read more

Went on 7/30/21 for dinner. Had the blackened rockfish tacos ($12.50 for 3) because they were gluten free. Was asked if I'd like them spicy or mild. I chose spicy. Service was fast but these had no taste of any seasoning. It definitely needed salt but there was too long of a line so I just ate my food. Also, a to-go box is $0.50 so if you plan to eat in the beer garden, order your food for here and you'll save $0.50 on a box. read more

Tried the sampler today which came with rockfish, halibut and salmon taco. Flavors were great and the sauces and slaw were fresh and tasty. A little disappointed in that there wasn't much fish in the halibut or rockfish tacos, but the salmon was a generous portion. Price is reasonable for a tourist town and I'd certainly come back for the rockfish taco! read more

Very fast service since they get a solid volume of customers, and then you get to enjoy in a nice outdoor setting with fresh air and a pleasant view! Went here at least three times over the weekend. We tried both the taco sampler and the fish n chips sampler. Both were great. We also tried the grilled oysters at a separate food truck within the same area. They were tasty. Drank many drinks and enjoyed the place a lot. Will definitely return. read more

Currently sitting at Deckhand Dave's after finishing my 3 taco sampler which was SO GOOD. I couldn't even wait to get back on the cruise ship to write my review. It was recommended to us by the driver of our tour bus while doing a shore excursion. They are delicious tacos that came out quickly - super crispy and hot. My mom got the 2 piece halibut fish & chips and she said they were also amazing. Tartar sauce is made in house and it's deliciously tangy. I also got the dirty fries which were generously covered in the cremas. So glad we took the advice of our bus driver and made it over here! read more

We went to this place after the recommendation from our bus driver from whale watching. (Thanks William)! The food was quick, hot, and so good! I like the fireplace in the middle of some tables. We had went on a hike to Nugget Falls and got rained on, so the warmth from the fireplace added a much needed touch while we were eating. Was making a pit stop in Juneau during a Cruise trip. Wanted to get a taste of fish and chips from Alaska's take on the dish. Was recommended this place from locals. Gave this place a 5 star because these were some of the juiciest/crispiest fish and chips I've had. I didn't have a variety of choices to taste in Alaska, but comparing this to various other fish and chip places I've had, this is quite delicious. The batter didn't feel too greasy and the fries kept having me want more. Trash bear (isn't an animal) is a combo of fries and seafood. The best way I can describe it, is that it's like Carne Asada fries but with seafood, for those who know what that is. It was a very satisfying meal and decently portioned amount. I will say it is slightly pricey, but it's worth the price. Would wish more tartar sauce was provided because that was also good sauce that complimented the fish. read more

Omg, this place is hidden gem is off the busy strip near the cruise ships. I'm glad I skipped all those other places, saved a ton of money, and walked a little farther down to find this delicious spot. Great creative outdoor decor, all the staff are so nice, food came out fast, and great place to support a local business! Everyone must try the Salmon-Tots! A small pack filled with so many flavors! The Blackened Rockfish tacos are sooo good. The Halibut n' Chips were the perfectly fried where the fish is juicy on the inside and super light and crispy on the outside. None of that oily or heavy on the batter deal. This place knocked it out of the park. I definitely wish I had a bigger stomach to try more on their menu because everything is delicious here!
