Kewl little spot in CM, plenty of parking at lunch time and lots of seating too. When I walked in I was greeted from multiple directions, friendly staff, looks like they had a few things going on. The sammys are slider version with 2 and 3 slider options. I went with the French dip. I grabbed the 3 but 2 was plenty and one for later. Tasty sandwich, good dip for the slider. I grabbed some chips and a tea and enjoyed the patio. Looks like they have some good happy hour specials, I think it was 3 to 5? Good drink prices and food deals too. Daily breakfast burrito caught my eye. 5 bucks between 8 and 9am. Our office does BB runs frequently and this will have to be in the line up. My boyfriend heard about Deli Nerds on NPR so we decided to try it out for lunch and I wish we'd saved our money... I got 3 sliders: 2 of the Anthony Bourdain's (fried mortadella) and 1 French dip. The taste wasn't an issue but... 1. The price to food ratio is crazy. Completely not worth it. The mortadella especially probably had like 2 slices of mortadella on each slider. You're getting more bun than anything else. If you're going to market sliders being superior to a sandwich, it might be best to make them at least as filling as the average sandwich when it costs the same, if not more. 2. The buns were dry and too thick, again, especially considering the amount of food that's otherwise on the slider. It's like 4:1 bun to meat. 3. The mortadella one was kind of a texture nightmare. As if the dry bun wasn't enough, the mortadella was too thick and very dry, such that it more closely resembled something like Canadian bacon than it did a delicious hot paper-thin shaven fried mortadella. 4. I preferred the flavor of the French dip, but the au jus was a bit salty, and it's nothing I would come back for. Overall -- would not recommend and have no desire to return. * In response to owner's comment: No, I didn't bring it up to anyone because it was a to-go order. I was not going to drive back to your establishment to express disappointment and didn't think a phone call stating "I thought the food was a rip off and not worth my money" would warrant an over-the-phone refund. Regardless, there's nothing you or your staff could've done to change my opinion on the food and my money spent, warranting the 1 star. I'm sharing my review on Yelp so that people can get a sense of what the food and value is like. Considering the service was close to nonexistent for a to-go order, it's not mentioned in my review. That being said--nobody goes to a casual restaurant for the service. Maybe instead of being incredibly defensive and victimizing yourself in the comments, you should accept criticism and actually work to make changes that will help your business. Dissatisfied customers are not your enemy--your giant dry brioche buns and dry hard mortadella are. read more

I love their chicken salad and beet hummus! The chicken salad has hearty chunks and they'll make it fresh for you. This is the secret: mix it with the beet hummus and put it on their pita bread and voila. Just got yourself a lovely protein dip. They should advertise this combo more! Their patio is outside with warmers so it's cozy. Plus, they are located away from the major streets so it's quiet. You don't have to listen to loud exhaust noises from clapped or Mustangs or Camaros. Service is always solid. 1 star Yelpers (Yelpers in general) are the worst kind of people and have no real friends except in fantasy Yelp land. Yeah, I like this place. They have some pretty good food. I definitely enjoy the variety of sliders that they have. I also really appreciate when places do a seasonal or a monthly item that is unique to the rest of the menu because I'm a foodie and I'd like to have a variety and try new things unfortunately I went in there on the day that they did not have the sauce for this month seasonal item and unfortunately, I went in there just for that item and didn't really want anything else so I left empty-handed, but I'm gonna try back again. Found this place through social media, was so excited to try . I ordered the chicken kabob bowl . It was good don't get me wrong but 1) it includes only one small baby bell pepper & 1/4 of a tomato & 2) took 30+ mins to come out. My main critic is the wait time . I wouldn't recommend coming on your lunch break because of how long it took to come out, there wasn't many customers waiting and I appreciate the fresh food but I did have to ask how much longer it was going to take and the lady said 5 more mins which turned into 15 more mins and ended up waiting more than 30'mins for my food . I really wished I was told by the cashier the expected wait time before ordering because I was on my break. Also wished it had a little more veggies for the price I paid. Overall I recommend for them just to notify about the wait time for those who order the kabob bowl , there's a sign in the front that says minimum 15 min wait time but mine ended up being double. I think if I come back again I would probably try to order over the phone before heading over so I don't spend my whole lunch waiting. read more

Listen to the one star reviews!! We had lunch at this place after seeing all the cleverly enticing social media marketing. I am sad to report Deli Nerds is an Orange County eatery you should cross off your list. We had 5 sliders, 2 sides, a bag of chips, and two canned beers for $60.00!!!! The sliders are on very dry, borderline stale brioche buns. The French dip slider is dry, the onions are far from carmelized and the purported grass fed beef is almost indistinguishable from the braised pork in the Cubano slider both of which have very obviously been made way too far in advance and served from a hotel pan that's been sitting in the refer for who knows how long. The smash burger slider does have two patties although they're lucky to weigh in at an ounce apiece, and and a slice of flavorless tomato (likely GMO) that has no place on a smash burger. Let's talk about the sides that came out almost ten minutes after the lukewarm sliders...the chicken salad is made with poorly chopped chicken and black olives. It has some sort of curry like seasoning in it also which clashes horribly. Oh and the egg salad!!!! Now this was the real show stopper folks. It's more like an egg salad soup. It was so soupy and runny it slid through the tines on the fork. It did have a half decent flavor though. The absolute highlight of our lunch were the Pizza Port beers. Two cans out of the cooler that were nice and cold. I really had high hopes for this place!!! I'm so disappointed. read more

I am honestly so unsure about this place. I have come 2x for the $5 Friday burritos and had vastly different experiences. The first time, 2 week ago I walked in, placed my order and had my food within 10-15 mins. This week I called ahead, the cashier quoted me 5- 10 mins wait time, and when I arrived I had to wait 30+ minutes for the 2 breakfast burritos. I arrived and paid at 8:40, and still had to wait until 9:02am. Not sure if I would come back. The time frame needs to improve and coach your staff to give accurate wait times. After I asked how much longer at 8:52, they promised me I was next- which was another lie. Still waited... If I knew it was 35 minutes I would have run another errand first. Unsure why it is such a huge difference, but delicious food none the less. read more

We are so happy to have Deli Nerds in Mesa Verde Plaza! We just had our team party there and everyone asked to come back again! Tina was wonderful to work with. She was communicative, thoughtful and made sure to note food allergies and check on ingredient which was very helpful. Her honesty was very refreshing! The sliders and deviled eggs were a hit! I'm glad I finally had a chance to try this place. Would always see it when I picked up my tailoring next door. Finally a place with a solid Latte and breakfast. I came here twice in one week to see if it was consistent. First visit, I got a bacon breakfast burrito and a chorizo breakfast burrito. I tried the bacon first since it's generally my favorite type of breakfast burrito... my first thoughts were that it was kinda plain and they didn't give enough salsa. Then I ate the chorizo and was pretty impressed. I also appreciated that they walked my order out to my, as I was waiting outside. Second visit, I didn't order the bacon again because it was underwhelming. I ordered the chorizo again because I really like it the first time and then I also got the sausage breakfast burrito. As I waited outside, I noticed several customers who came after me but got their order before me. Then one of the girls comes out and hands me one box, I gave her a confused look because I had ordered two burritos; she didn't realize this and went back in. In total, I waited about 30 min for my burritos to be ready. After taking a bite of both burritos, I realized that they both had hash browns and the bacon one that I ordered earlier in the week was missing it all together! I ordered 2 of the smash burgers "customer favorite" and got two burnt overcooked burgers that were almost inedible.
