LAZY AND INCOMPETENT IS THE TAKE AWAY. My dad, an 80 year old disabled veteran, and I went by the Denny's to get some dinner. When we came in there was no one working the front door to seat people. So after we waited, I took the initiative so a veteran could eat. We sat down only to have a rude waitress and the obnoxious manager, who couldn't be troubled to greet guests,come tell us that we had to get up and leave because they are lazy and incompetent and needed keep a disabled vet to wait for her to acknowledge our presence. I do not recommend going there unless you want to be disappointed. read more

Never again will i eat at Denny's. This experience has turned us off for good. My husband ordered the double cheese burger sub out beef for veggie patty. The tomato was old and mealy. The veggie pattys are nasty here, most places have fairly good ones now days so there is no reason to have mush. I had the veggie omelette and the first time they brought it to me NONE of the veggies where cooked. The second time they were warmed. I couldn't even eat it it smelled nasty. They waitress took it off our bill but if this is the quality of their cooks then nothing that comes out of that kitchen will be good. My husband said he will never eat at Denny's again. We called to make an order to go and the female who answered the phone said "you'll have to wait" (unfortunately she didn't give her name when she answered) and she promptly dropped the phone on the counter, from the sound she was walking away when she told another employee "I don't have time to take a to go order they can just wait". She then started to complain in a colorful way about a customer that was in the restaurant that had a problem with their order, after sitting on the phone for almost 5 minutes we hung up and called Village Inn and they were more than happy to get our business. I'm sorry that when I try to place an order here I am treated like my business is not wanted or needed for that matter, I will definitely do them a favor and take my business elsewhere. read more

Waited 10 minutes to be seated. They graciously seated a group before us who came in after us. Another small group came in after us and waited several minutes.. And when the host finally came she tried to seat them first. We really should have taken that as a sign but we were hungry. After ordering and receiving drinks we didn't see our waiter for another 15 minutes. We did watch as members of the staff stood around chatting. I will keep it short and simple. Shelly is an absolute delight and a wonderful waitress. She knows how to engage a customer and keep them coming back. We came in on a busy Sunday morning 245am and were told by Missy, after a 5 minute wait, that it would be another 10-15 minutes before she could help us. After 12 minutes passed (plenty of open tables) we got sat. We were told to keep it down or leave by missy because we were talking to one another (too loudly?) which we weren't. At that point we asked for Shelly to take over, she was friendly, attentive, and awesome. No reason for the rudeness from the other server. Definitely don't recommend she work a closing shift again if the company wants to keep customer retention. 1 star for Missy and 50 Stars for Shelly! read more

I will most definitely be returning to this location specifically to enjoy the experience again. She made my whole table laugh and I even gave her a hug for being so good to us. We came here for breakfast this morning, and were very happy with our service. My son is 6 years old and has Autism. Our waitress Morgan was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! When she first came over as we were sitting down, my son had a small meltdown. We explained to her that he has Autism, and she was extremely kind. She brought him bananas to snack on and brought his food out first. She checked on us frequently and was Super kind to my son. My son has texture issues and she made sure his bacon was perfectly crisp. He then decided he didn't want his fork anymore because it touched a tiny bit of syrup..She brought him a new fork.. This was the BEST experience I've ever had with a waitress in regards to having my son with us.. We will definitely be back and hope we get Morgan again! read more

If I could give minus stars, there wouldn't be enough to properly express our experience at this Denny's. We ate at the Denny's in Mesa at 1330 South Power Road on Saturday May 15, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. We were a group of 14 people who were seated at three different tables. First of all, one of the young adults in the group had several food allergies. His mother told our server this and gave him a card listing all of the food allergies and asked how he could be accommodated. The server gave this card to a manager who promptly came to our table and told the mother that there was nothing he could do, we could not interact with the chef or staff asking for food to be prepared in a way different than usual, even if it were something as simple as frying a burger in a different kind of oil, and if he couldn't eat anything, that was not the fault of Denny's. Second, as I said we were a group of 14 people, three parents and 11 young adults. We asked for separate checks. Well we got one check for all of us. That same surly manager told us we should have asked for separate checks - which we did. He gave each of us a copy of the full receipt and told us to circle what we had and he would charge it separately. Well here is where it gets fun! I had a side order of French toast ($2.99) and my son had a chicken tenders dinner ($11.99) - this obnoxious manager told me my total was $30.84 - without thinking I paid this amount. When he gave me my receipt, I saw I was charged for three drinks at $2.99 each - there were only two of us and two drinks ordered - when I brought this to his attention, he grabbed my receipt and gave me $2.50. I had to ask for my receipt back and he kind of threw it at me. Then I saw I was charged for three sides of French toast - and when I brought this to his attention he asked me if I was SURE that I only had one order of French toast! And then said that I probably did have all three but was trying to get out of being charged for them! Then he threw a $5.00 at me (two orders of French toast at $2.99 each). When I brought it to his attention that it would be $6.00 plus tax, he threw another dollar at me and I again had to ask for my receipt back. His haphazardly way of giving me my refunds was still short. I know at least one other parent was charged wrong on her receipt and don't know if any of the other people in our group were charged wrong. This group meets twice a month and was hoping that Denny's would be their permanent meeting place, but with the service, the overcharging and rude behavior by the manager as well as other problems, I am sure we will not be using this restaurant, or actually any Denny's restaurants, again. If it were my son who was paying, he would have just accepted the total - because he rarely checks receipts to make sure they are correct, and I am sure most of the boys in this group are the same. I will be sure I relate my experience to every one I know about the customer service and ungracious staff at your restaurant. read more

Had some dental work done, had to have soft food, stopped here, ordered 2 scrambled eggs and 2 pancakes, waitress asked if I wanted cheese on the eggs, I said yes, sounds good! The check was $6.80, over the course of 3 weeks I stopped maybe 5 more times, same thing, same price, always left $3 as a tip, except the last time! The last time the check was over $10, same waitress as 2 days previous, asked why the cost changed, they looked at the check, shrugged their shoulders and said that was the price, I told them that 2 days ago, and the last 4 times I was there, more shrugged shoulders, they didn't care, told me there wasn't a manager available to talk to, almost went back to take my tip back, just told them I would never be back! Bad service. Everything went downhill the moment my boyfriend & I were seated. First of all, we were seated for a while until our server finally realized we were in her section. This Denny's was not busy at all. She took our drink order but never brought our drinks back to our table. After already waiting a good amount of time, the family next to us that were seated after us got their drinks before ours. We got our food before even getting our drinks. When we got our food it was decent and we were hungry but the eggs were RUNNY. We both got our eggs over easy but the eggs had clear liquid running out of it. Basically just raw and cold eggs. First off if you look through my reviews, my ratings are based on how the food tastes relative to a particular metro area. I was called in to work at 3am last week and decided to hit the 24 hours McDonalds at Power & US60. It was closed, bummer. Right next door was Denny's, I never even noticed there was one there before. OK HUNGARY ... "I'm going in". First off this is classiest looking Denny's I've ever been in. (Not that I frequent them) Extra large photos of Phoenix cira 1970's greet you as you walk in. Nice. Relaxed lighting, colors, and seating, HDTV's. Double Nice ... as was my late night hostess. I ordered a classic single burger, fries, and an ice water keeping with my original thought. Wow, what arrived at the table 10 minutes later was a total surprise. A large gourmet angus burger on a fantastic looking bun, all the fix-in's on the side, and perfectly cooked fry's. With a totally surprised look on my face, the waitress asked if everything was OK? I told her I must be dreaming because everything is too perfect. No Denny's I have ever been in looked this nice, nor serves food like this. I decided to go along with facade ... and sure enough the taste was as good as the illusion. I woofed it all down in minutes, paid with a $10 bill, which included a $2 tip and tipped right out the door. Only when I hopped in my "beat up" 2001 Diesel Beetle did I realize this might actually be real. Surely a brand new 2014 Black Beetle would have awaited me in this dream. First time visitor to this Denny's. Food and service was terrific, but I do have an issue with the cooking line. Seems a female cook was preparing food with her hair down in a pony tail. The cook did have a hat on, but she was turning head a lot which made her hair fly all around. I thought the folks on the cooking line had to have their hair tucked in under a hat of tied up. Seems like the manager working that day didn't seem to have an issue. Maybe the hair issue is not a possible health code violation. read more

Even before I could respond the food wasn't hot she walked by to gossip with a customer. I have worked in food service and know it's a tough job.
