Denny's has really turned things around for the better from the Denny's I remember as a kid. I came here alone while waiting for my car repairs in the shop, and it was genuinely rather good. Service was nice, thanks Andrea A (server), food was tasty, and price point was cheap for the amount of food bought. I think they've single handedly turned my opinion of pancakes around. Very delicious! The timeliness of the food was a bit slow, and the atmosphere was loud, a bit frantic, and crowded by the front door, but besides that, it was a nice impromptu breakfast. Parking is really bad in this small strip mall... but, there's additional parking in the rear! First timers probably won't see the sign going to the back parking. We had to wait a little while up front while people paid and workers shuffled back and forth. We finally were seated and the order taker took our orders correctly and it came fairly fast. This Denny's is close to my heart. It's open late, so we always came here after late night worship from the church across the street. I've never had a bad experience with neither the food nor the servers. The food is exactly what you'd expect, strong flavors, pretty greasy, filling, and delicious, especially as a late night meal. I'm sure it can't be all that healthy, but that's not why you'd eat here right? I just want to fill my primal instinct and Denny's does the job perfectly. This review will just be for the food, as this was a Postmates order. :-) We felt breakfast for dinner and decided to get ourselves a Lumberjack slam. Both our orders were correct, and the egg, hash browns and meats were perfect. My toast was burned. There was not enough butter & jelly to help soak it a bit, it was just black toast. Both our pancakes were also burned. Both of his were dark brown all around on both sides, mine were both burned on the edges, more so on one side than the other. It was disappointing that at no point someone saw the burnt toast and burnt pancakes and said, "this is unacceptable" - they just packed it all up to go. I come here Friday threw Monday on Friday it's always busy when I come in with my children and I always request Jocelyn I believe on Fridays she's a hostess. But somewhere in between she always finds time for me and my family I watch her as she picks up the phone, places a Togo order and at the same time helps people pay and also attending us while doing all that! I went in with my BFF, this is my story: *To the tune of law and order* (KUNG KUUNNGG) Monday 9:15am: We're seated. Server only speaks to my BFF. We order coffee first. Server brings two cups, hers practically overflowing with coffee and mine almost 2/3 full. This was my first sign that something was wrong. As time passes we notice our cups have words on them. My was a condescending statement about waking up to drink coffee and eat (as if I need a reminder to do that every morning) and hers read practically a love letter about how their doors are always open with their hearts and crap. Starting to see a pattern here. Next incident 9:37 am: food arrives. To my besties delight her food was served first with the most beautiful crispy hashbrowns I've ever seen in my life! Then when my meal was plopped in front of me, I see my 'hashbrowns' were barely cooked and were more like wet French fries. Upon further investigation I see my 'bacon' was not actually bacon. It seemed more like a diner than a fast food restaurant. The colors weren't garish like a McDonalds, but more subtle, with lots of forest green. It was a perfect place to relax with friends. The service was also better, with the waiter a little more friendly. But he did the check bit again where he just brought it. I suppose it was still a little busy, but not even asking if we need anything more? Food was pretty good. I had a stack of pancakes, good enough for a Dennys. My friends both got the same dish: something with hash browns, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausages, and some kind of potatoey-eggy mush. I had some of the potatoey stuff, and I must admit, it was pretty good. Then you add Tabasco sauce and it tastes even better. I'm giving this one a 3-star, but a little on the low end. The weekends are just ridiculous and the lines are way to long and never enough places to sit while waiting. The parking at this location, even on a weekday can get a little jammed. There has been an epic debate over which chain-restraunt, IHOP or Denny' s is supreme. Personally i love the rich buttered flavored pancakes at IHOP a lot more than Denny's. To me Denny's is lackluster. Typical brunch spot with not a lot of pa-zazz. But still people flock to it because its reasonably priced and its semi-fast mass prepared food. So its convenience out-weights its negatives. Orded take-out for a veggie scrambler and of course preparation was fast! Less than 15 mins which is bonkers in my opinion esp for Father's Day! But yes food was prepared fast and it even came in a nifty multi-layed deep dish container (I should of washed it out and reused it for future lunches). The potatoes were slightly warm , the egg whites were a sad hunk of unattractive, and the salsa it came with was as bland as a saltine cracker -_-. Overall not the best brunch decision I've ever made. Should of went for the pancakes and regular eggs but i wanted something a bit lighter and it boosted a 550 and under calorie label so I was sold. Wouldn't satisfy taste for caloric reduction again. Thinking IHOP may be a better choice when picking a chain brunch spot! read more
