Really good pizza. Easy to do half and half to try different kinds. We liked all of the ones we got. Decent beer selection but kinda small.

My wife and I ordered a calzone with pepperoni, sausage, pineapple, and extra mozzarella. And I ordered grape and candied walnut salad with extra black olives added. My salad was crisp, fresh, and wonderfully put together. My wife's calzone was f*&king huge. It looked like a 12" pizza folded over. The sausage was extremely unique. It was more like sausage pepperoni. The marinara was a extra unique flavor. I wish I had one of these back in Iowa!!!!! read more

Definitely our favorite pizza spot in St. Louis. You can absolutely taste the difference in the crust, sauce, cheese and toppings. We love doing the speciality pizzas as well as the half and half pizzas. Our favorite is making our own pizza with the "white pizza" base. When the prosciutto arugula pizza is in season it's heaven. We also love their house salad with the pine nuts. Service is usually pretty good and the inside of the restaurant is nice, but usually dark and really crowded unless you go during a very low time. I wish they would deliver! Regardless it is totally worth the drive from where ever you are. read more

Great little pizza place. While waiting for our table the guys making the pizza entertained the kids by "throwing" flour at them from behind the window. Pizza was delicious. The red sauce is great, has just the right amount of spice and heat. We had two pizzas, one with banana peppers and sausage, the other (for the kids) half sausage, half pepperoni. We asked for light cheese and they complied. I would have given 5 stars but the staff, although very friendly, seemed very disorganized and one of the servers cleared my plate while I was cutting my grandson's pizza with my back turned. Super pizza!! Place is clean, servers are friendly,atmosphere is lively. Visited on a Saturday night at 5:00 and did not have to wait for a table. By 6:00, the line was out the door. Got a medium pie and that was plenty for two people. We had half Don Corleone, half Socrates' Revenge. DC is pepperoni and salami. SR is feta, olives, onions, tomatoes. The crust was crispy and chewy at the same time. This place is second only to Shakespeare's in Columbia. Really, really good. read more

Is there a time cap one is allowed to sit at a table? I ask because while I was having a going away dinner after about an hour someone comes to our table and says we have 10 min and our specific table was reserved for someone else. We were never offered more drinks or dessert which we would have loved. We were always compensating the server for their work. The food was good despite the cook wearing the dough on his back like a cape!(no this is not a joke) long story short it was very rude and we are servers and know how inappropriate his words were. If a Time limit is in place that should be communicated to your customers in the beginning. Do better deweys .. super disappointed in this visit. read more

BUT - ever since they changed the real pizza oven out for a Dominos / Papa John's etc conveyor belt oven the pizza is simply not as good. The ingredients are still well above the chains, but the change in oven made the overall pizza only slightly better. I've been here before and was totally smitten with the wild mushroom pizza. Well, I discovered it is no longer on the menu! Boo! I was so disappointed. Our awesome server came to the rescue and helped me improvise and duplicate it pretty closely. He was great! This is generally a very busy place, so be prepared to wait, and expect a crowded dining room that's really noisy. Dewey's is a No Provel zone and for that I say, "Praise Jesus". Pizza with Mozzarella cheese is so much better. Pizza cut like a pie is so much better then a square. Dewey's just on those two points, I like you "so much better". The menu at Dewey's is simple, salad and pizza and they do both well. We ordered the small size salad which was the perfect portion to have before a 13" pie which is cut into 8 slices. To please everyone, we ordered a half & half pizza. As our toppings we choose; X - Pepperoni and Bronx Bomber. The Pepperoni was the best "pep" pizza I have ever had, that Mozzarella Cheese was a great accent to the Pepperoni. Next time when I do not have to make others happy, it will be a whole Bronx Bomber. The mixture of Pepperoni, Sausage, Black Olives, Mushrooms. Onion and that gooey melted Mozzarella Cheese was really the "Bomb". Our salads were, Caesar, House and Peppercorn and each one was excellent in it's own right. As stated earlier our smalls were a good serving, so I can only imagine the large would be a meal or big enough for two to share. We were celebrating a birthday and another big bonus is Dewey's does not sing "Happy Birthday" to the aging customer. They do not offer you a dessert like other restaurants. What they do offer you is better then a song and free dessert, which only last for a moment. Maybe it's a bit morose to eat an Edgar Allen Poe, but no more morose than the late poet's dark exploration of the human heart. Besides, everything tastes better with cheese. Especially at Dewey's, where a few of the great artists of our time get posthumous recognition by having their own pizza (Socrates is another example). The aforementioned Poe pie has on it mushrooms, roasted garlic, kalamata olives, goat cheese, mozzarella and fontina cheeses, tomatoes and parsley. Dewey's has been our favorite pizza since, forever, but tonight I experienced a seasonal pizza I loved too much not to bring attention to. The "Woodstock" was a fresh take on a vegetarian pizza. Apple sage vegan sausage, and a mix of shiitake-oyster-button mushrooms with olive oil and fontina. This combo was much more interesting than the usual veggie pizzas choices.
